TR2013 took a lot of inspiration from the Uncharted Franchise, especially with regard to huge action set-pieces, general cinematography, and higher emphasis on cover-based shootouts. I think the other two had more of the older classic Tomb Raider elements in them.
actually you can slide on the zip line in shadow of the tomb raider (in the start of the game, in Cozumel, you can do it in the cave with the Mayan Pyramid in the bells.)
Rise of the Tomb Raider - in my opinion the best part of this trilogy! It's beautiful. I've been through it several times. I kept coming back to this game because of the nostalgia. This part always warmed my soul. Especially in this part I really like the sounds, they create a special atmosphere. I always get frustrated when I get to the end of this game. It would be great if the developers updated this game and added something interesting in the form of Baba Yaga)
The best game ist the game from 2013. The Rise of Tomb Raider may look better, but the story is trash. And in Shadow of Tomb Raider they made Lara super ugly.
@@nopropaganda20 Shadow is probably the best in terms of atmosphere, gameplay, level design, cool thematic puzzles/tombs, graphics, sound design. The story is wack, it feels almost like it was planned to be much broader in scope but they condensed it, and a lot of scenes felt like demos with their overdramatic nonsensical nature. Lara's model is okay, the face is really high quality and has great motion capture, but it just doesn't look like Lara. Also her body is way too short and plump unlike the originals and Legend trilogy where she was tall and fit. There are a few face mods going around, I like "baddie raider" personally. I also think the survivor trilogy games are just way too easy honestly just like most AAA games these days as they appeal to the casual couch player who wants a game to relax after work.
They used movie quality motion capture for Rise of the Tomb Raider, which is why everyone says Lara is the prettiest in that game. They used the voice actress, Camilla Luddington’s face for the character model and she is truly such a gorgeous woman. They used her face again for Shadow but they did something really odd to her character model that makes her looks not as great as the other two. Her face looks lifeless and the hair looks like a wig and is nowhere near as dynamic as in the other two. I do know Shadow had tons of production hiccups though
What technique did they use on Rise that makes it stand out from the others? Maybe the artistic vision and team were different? Cause, of course, Shadow is beautiful, but Rise feels more unique. It aged pretty well for an almost 10 year old game.
Playing them all again in a week I think shadow is the best one! It feels more like the og games because of the puzzles, the tombs and the environments. Also the graphics are amazing. I wish the had the same face for Lara as they had for rise but still good
on The Archery part you prob focused on the wrong part. From what I saw in the video the bows behave in all games like they should. The Compound (the one used in TR) and the recurves all behave and draw like they should. Havent been doing it for some time but atleast we havent got Bows who magically shoot an arrow without actually being depicted as drawn lol
Not sure why they decided to make SOTTR look like The Sims (texture and shader wise). Funnily enough, the cutscenes and cinematics revert back to the HQ look similar to the previous games.
audio is a bit off, I'll suggest some settings. upgrade to a higher quality audio equipment i.e a Headphone or nicer earphones, Disable Windows Sonic for Headphones and Increase the Bass in Sound Settings.
They didn't sell enough copies to cover development cost. The 2013 reboot alone was around 65 million and Shadow was around 100 million to develop. This doesn't include Rise and it taking a hit because it was a timed exclusive. Square ended up selling the IP to Empracer.
@@johndang55 No, as of today's date it has sold a little over 3 million units and take under consideration how many systems is also been released on. It's definitely interesting to compare Red Dead Redemption 2 with Tomb Raider, especially when it comes to shooting a bow. However, you didn't show one key difference: if you hold the bowstring for too long in Rise of the Tomb Raider, Lara's strength gives out, and she releases it. In RDR2, that doesn't happen. I'm not trying to defend one over the other, but it's important to show both sides.
I am missing the gadget in TR 2013 where you can go upwards a rope fast (Rise and Shadow doesn't have that). I am playing through the trilogy for the first time and I am enjoying Shadow more. For me, Shadow looks better, but Rise has better effects at some parts.
The only thing I hate about ROTTR is its anti aliasing which is really bad, even compared to TR 2013 it is much better than ROTTR. Even with 1440p resolution and SSAA 4x the edges of the grass and environment, especially the leaves, still feel rough and very full of jagged edges.
