For anyone who's ever been through shit in their lives 'Til they sit and they cry at night wishing they die 'Til they throw on a rap record and they sit and they vibe We're nothing to you but we're the fuckin' shit in their eyes One of my favourite eminem lyrics
I found this song after many years last year during my worst depression. And those lines said so much just in few words... There's a reason anyone who starts listening to Eminem turns into a fan
what makes this song way more impactful is the fact that em wasn't only talking about his fans, he was talking about himself. HE is a Stan himself to the Rappers he grew up Listening to, ll cool j, treach, ice t and all the other ones he talks about. so when he wrote that last verse, he knew exactly what he was writing about. and THAT is why Eminem is the goat.
You can tell those last lines he's talking about himself as well as the fans. "Or anyone who's ever been through shit in they lives, till they sit and they cry at night. Wishin they'd die till they throw on a rap record and they sit an they vibe. We're nothin to you but we're the fuckin shit in their eyes!" You know that was him, when he was listenin to Pac and LLcoolJ and all that.
It's songs like this that em put out that make me scratch my head when people like snoop or jamar or any hater that says "we don't bump his shit" or "we don't relate to his shit". You can't tell me that songs like this can't be related to in one way or another.
Lmao bro you picked possibly the worst example ever This is literally the Aerosmith song “dream on” Not many hood rappers are out there bumping Aerosmith 😂… I get what you’re going for, but this song isn’t going to relate to “them” They simply don’t wanna admit Eminem is the 🐐 Rakim done gave him the stamp fuckn decades ago, and he’s the same one all the dudes who hate on Em, say is the goat 😂 It’s simple jealousy and bitterness Em doing what he’s doing with Snoop recently shows how mature and far Em has come
People born with a silver spoon cant relate to Em'. I am from India. I have cried listening to Em's songs so many times and I dont even take Lamar or Snoop's songs seriously .
When I was young teenager this shit spoke to me it literally described me to a fucking T , dad gone, mother strung out, little brother taken by the state, poor as shit, moving from place to place never able to be secure. Music was my key to survival. I have literally laid down at night crying myself to sleep then I put a rap cd and I sit and vibe , saved my life
@@thisisisabella3634 man, 100% this song is for a lot of different people. But I can say as someone who grew up poor but now makes music, it hits on a couple levels for me
my life in no way similar with Em’s life. im not american, i love my parents. But Em’s music SAVED me in my lowest time when my father was ill and i had to be the one to take care for him. For that i will be fan for life
Fuckin aye, I grew up in a pretty good environment, never worried about food or a roof but when my dad passed away when I was 14, Em was a massive part of me just getting through a day. This album specifically, I can listen to it from start to finish and it takes me right back to a time I had to grit through it.
He kept a fire burning inside, not anger or hatred, but a want for moral justice or something. You don't have to have the same life. Music is art, it's how you interpret it. Just remember that strength doesn't come without pain.
Hit the nail in the head. That 3rd verse always makes me feel understood and proud of the shit I went through as a kid to get where i'm at today Thanks for this one Stevie, right in the feels
You listen to a song like this and it just makes you scratch your head when people say Eminem has no place in the game and that rappers like drake are better him. NO
Didn’t have to drag Drake down to make that point. Same way we may feel about Em, people feel about Drake. His music can mean the same to some people that Em’s music means to us. He’s also really good and has been on top for almost a decade.
@@dah500 I agree to some extent, however the reason Em’s music hits more is because he writes his own shit, about what shit he went through and all that, while Drake has ghostwriters writing for him. Just imagining Em placing that pen to the pad and writing this masterpiece makes it hit so much more. In my opinion. But again, music is subjective.
@@dah500 Agreed. There's no need to drag him down. Different people have different taste, and somewhere a kid sits in their room with a picture of Drake and feels the way Eminem felt with his posters on the wall. And I do feel a bit of pity for Drake to have been 'caught' having used a ghostwriter, because it will hang over him alllllllllllll his life even if he never does it again and only did it once or twice. Bad decision, Drakey, but he'll be fine 😉
Christian Gergeo Drake by in large has written everything he’s released. He has used ghostwriters but you can’t take 160 songs that he wrote and then discredit his writing ability because 5 may have a couple lines that were written by someone else.
@@dah500 not trying to discredit Drake, but we both know that he’s had ghostwriters writing for him on more than 5 songs. He was caught using ghostwriters on those, imagine all songs that he wasn’t caught. But for me, it does not matter because Drake is not a lyrical rapper. I listen to him when I want to vibe, not want to catch vibes. Again, not trying to discredit him.
Another really cool thing about this song is that the instrumental is from "dream on" by Aerosmith, and when em asked them if he could use it they not only said yes but their guitarist made that solo at the end custom for his version. Respect from legends of another genre
I clicked on this so fast, been waiting for Stevie to react to this! The whole 3rd verse is fire but I specifically love the lines.. "That's why we, seize the moment try to freeze it and own it Squeeze it and hold it, 'cause we consider these minutes golden" Still get chills!!

I think I was in 4th grade when this song came out and that was the first time Eminem, (shit a song in general) made me tear up. Because for the first time in my life I felt like somebody understood what I felt at the time.
My dad was the same until he heard Cleanin' out my Closet. I had so much pain from my mom's selfish shot and my parents were going through a divorce. My Ozzy and AC/DC loving dad still jams to Eminem.
I remember when Stevie started reacting to Em’s newer stuff first and didn’t know what a lot of the references were about. Cool to see him slowly Stan out even if he probably won’t admit that he is 😂
Eminem between 97 and 2002 was possibly the greatest artist to ever exist in any genre. If anyone knew the amount incredible songs this man has written..I love this song the 3rd verse so perfectly describes what music is to people that love it..especially rap. People resonate with others pain. Pain shared feels halved. It's the beauty of life and someone who's craft is solely dedicated to expression.

He wasn’t as complex with his word play and all the multiple meanings this early in his career, but myself and a lot of EM fans would agree this is one of his best albums. If you listen to this whole album he was so on point with his rhyme schemes it seems like he would rhyme whole sentences or multiple words in every sentence... Not just this song but every song on this album, Also with content and flawless ability to ride the beat. A true artist at his craft
When you say simplistic, I mean I get that in terms of puns, doubles, tripples etc. But the rhyeme scheme and work bending and cadence was off the charts. if you listen back with the lyrics, you'll see how complex the rhyme schemes were
@@JayK07 I agree. That's why I think Stevie doesn't fuck with SSLP and MMLP as much because Em was on shock value, saying crazy shit in the wildest ways, in terms of flow/cadence and complex rhyme schemes and story telling.

Sir...you have become a Stan. Now you get it... He has wore his heart on his sleeve since the beginning. He has always been an open book. That is why it is so easy to be a stan
I'm only a few years younger than Em, and I remember the insane backlash from the mainstream to him blowing up. It was everything from politicians to the news to religious figures to feminists to the music establishment to parents freaking out like he's infected their kids with some virus or something, while at the same time he had people coming up to him trying to test him he also couldn't have a second without fans coming up to him, it was an insane global phenomenon. I guess when you've seen that happen and then keep following and seeing what's been happening with him since then, on top of appreciating his skills, it's impossible to understand younger people who think they know what they're talking about because they maybe sorta heard a hook or two from his hits. And I'm saying this as someone who's not even a "proper" stan, just being around through all this and hip hop being one of the genres I listen to. He wasn't even the first rapper I listened to, I'm just tying to explain that there's a lot of sympathy for him out there even outside the hardcore Stans.

what makes this song way more impactful is the fact that em wasn't only talking about his fans, he was talking about himself.
We're nothin to you but we're the fuckin shit in their eyes!"

It's songs like this that em put out that make me scratch my head when people like snoop or jamar or any hater that says "we don't bump his shit" or "we don't relate to his shit". You can't tell me that songs like this can't be related to in one way or another.
Right Exactly Why Just Why
Lmao bro you picked possibly the worst example ever
This is literally the Aerosmith song “dream on”
Not many hood rappers are out there bumping Aerosmith 😂…
I get what you’re going for, but this song isn’t going to relate to “them”
They simply don’t wanna admit Eminem is the 🐐
Rakim done gave him the stamp fuckn decades ago, and he’s the same one all the dudes who hate on Em, say is the goat 😂
It’s simple jealousy and bitterness
Em doing what he’s doing with Snoop recently shows how mature and far Em has come
People born with a silver spoon cant relate to Em'. I am from India. I have cried listening to Em's songs so many times and I dont even take Lamar or Snoop's songs seriously .

my life in no way similar with Em’s life. im not american, i love my parents. But Em’s music SAVED me in my lowest time when my father was ill and i had to be the one to take care for him. For that i will be fan for life
