I must apologize to a few, I could have sworn I had gone though the description and corrected my errors about the video, but apparently (another error of mine) I had only posted it in a replied comment.
PLEASE NOTE. THE PHOTO OF MELISSA ETHERIDGE WAS INADVERTENTLY PUT IN WHERE A PHOTO OF LISA WELCHEL WAS SUPPOSE TO HAVE GONE. I DID NOT NOTICE THE ERROR UNTIL IT WAS POINTED OUT TO ME BY A VIEWER, BY THIS TIME THE VIDEO HAD MANY VIEWS AND IT WOULD HAVE BEEN TOO MUCH WORK TO ENTIRELY REMAKE THIS VIDEO BECAUSE OF THE ERROR. I MEANT TO NOTE THAT HERE IN THE DESCRIPTION BUT I MUST HAVE ONLY NOTED IN A COMMENT REPLY. SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION AND MY ERROR.
love that young crisp voice of Gloria in song co-written with my big brother Alan. good memories, thank you JOxox
Joanne, may yo*r brother Alan, R.I.P., so sorry for yo*r loss. :( :( :(.
Joanne G Thicke She Sings very Beautifully. I'm very sorry for yours and your Family's loss. He was a really good Man. Whom we will never forget. And Someone Who will Always be in our Hearts. R.I.P. Alan Thicke.
Why did they break up and did they still get along after the divorce?
I've enjoyed watching Alan on Growing Pains and Gloria on Super Password this past year. They seemed like they must've been a great couple. This song is something that is just beloved and remembered by so many people to this day. We're all lucky they used their talents so well throughout their lives.
Liz Chandler..loved her in,so ok and your brother in growing pains. Rip
Makes me nostalgic for my 80's childhood. The world was nicer then.
Love this show
I starting to listing this in 2021 and yes I’m a teenager of course I’m 16 and I love this opening song.
Tell that to the 100,777 people who died of AIDS while the government did nothing.
Mennn...I want back that world where cyber bullying doesn't exist
Facts of Life+Dfferent Strokes+Perfect Strangers+Saved the Bell+Cheers+Full House=Childhood
Those were the good old days! I miss it!
Dont forget family matters and fresh prince of bel-air
Differ'nt strokes was the best
Yay Xennials.
We're raised in the same era. Those good old days
RIP Mrs. Garrett! So, sad loved watching you teach us the facts of life.
However, 92 is pretty good these days.
Yes, the good old days of real television.
Now, most everything on tv is cringeworthy.
You take the good, you take the bad, you take them all and than you have the facts of life, the facts of life.
so true,You Take the good, you take the bad,you take them all, then you have the Fasts of Life, the Facts of life.
RIP Ms. Garrett!!!! Thanks for being a part of my childhood.
This is my favorite version! It is the very best version of this television theme song with all the verses! Gloria Loring has a great voice! This television theme song belongs to Gloria Loring! Gloria Loring does a great job on this classic television theme song! I was born in 1978! My favorite seasons are 1979 to 1985!! Thank you for posting and sharing this!
I was born in 1980 and grew up in white rock BC! I swear even the air we breathed was different then. No social media junk, everyone was more genuine i wanna say.
True!
It was just easier to be awful and hide back then.
@@jwb52z9 yeah there have been rotten people since man started. The differece today is people in general are more obnoxious and rude. Not really terrible people just self absorbed in their electronic world. So thats definitely changed.
Big facts
Fellow Gen X-er here. 80s TV sitcoms are so good!! And saturday morning cartoons 😊
This song popped in to my head today, when I was enjoying a morning with mild rather than severe symptoms of a chronic condition. I actually knew 3/4 of the song! Like all earworms, I had to sing along while listening to the original, or it will be stuck in my 'noggin all day. 💖
I’ll always love you Mrs. G !!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for everything🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Wow, as a collector of full versions of TV Themes (that's right ladies, I am still single!) I never knew a full Fact of Life Theme existed. Thanks for sharing this.
Airwolf is a good one for negotiating the freeway. :)
The extended version of As Long as We Got Each Other (The Growing Pains Theme by BJ Thomas) is another one that's great!
@@nchristensen103 Actually, Alan Thicke (Dr. Seaver of _Growing Pains_ coincidentally) sang & wrote the theme for the preceding sitcom _Different Strokes_ meanwhile his wife at the time, Gloria Loring, the mother of Robin Thicke, sang _The Facts of Life_ theme, which Alan Thicke also wrote.
@@TherealRNOwwfpooh I know Alan Thicke sang the Different Strokes theme but his series Growing Pains was sung by BJ Thomas/Dusty Springfield or BJ Thomas/Jennifer Warnes depending on which season. Alan didn't sing "As long As We got each other" (Theme from Growing Pains)
@@nchristensen103 I know. I never said Alan Thicke sang nor wrote the _Growing Pains_ theme. I just said he starred in it as Dr. Seaver as a preface for those who might not have recognized who he was other than being Robin Thicke's dad. I then said that Alan Thicke both sang & wrote the theme for _Different Strokes_ the predecessor to _The Facts of Life_ (with the latter obviously sung by his then-wife & mother of Robin Thicke, Gloria Loring, beginning with season 2 until the end of the series, with the full extended version heard in the accompanying video above).
R.I.P. Charlotte Rae. Thanks for all the memories! Watching reruns of this helps me forget about the Coronavirus for a while!
Strong voice 7.5
I'm stuck on an 80's flashback today! This was perfect!
I needed this. My mom just died, and for some reason this cheered me up. Thank you.
💛
Rip for you mom.
Give condolences
Rip I'm sorry to hear this. You have an angel looking over you now.
💔
Gloria Loring is the co-write and original singer of the song. So yes she is the real and original singer of the song.
Just heard that Charlotte Rae passed away at the age of 92.
Who knew Todd Bridges would be the last surviving original cast member of Diff'rent Strokes?
I heard it but what cuase charlotte rae to die anybody
@@stacieskipper7355 Cardiac Arrest
@@ochsj1971 maybe Todd actually killed the rest. Think about that.
@@ochsj1971 I know, how sad is that? You knew that the older cast members would one day pass on but not the kids first. Kim Fields said Todd Bridges was the first person she called after Charlotte Ray passed because she knew Todd would be devastated that he was the last surviving cast member.
Hey. This is my band. We all work in different departments in the hospital.
Awesome
Ted brought me here! Haha
@tiggerone23 No worries. This is such a rarity, I greatly appreciate that you uploaded it here! I was just confused, thinking maybe Melissa had some connection to the show or Lisa. Thanks for answering my question.
They dont make good shows like this anymore and it's a shame they don't.
timothy prescott yeah definitely
I used to like Modern Family. But now I'm into The Goldberg's. I Never got into Blackish. Which is Unfortunate. Because I really like Anthony Anderson. He's really Talented.
if I may politely rebuttal I half agree; I think they write better interactions/dialog these days but I do think they have a lot weaker premises!
@@mcgrewism That is a perfect way to explain the difference between today's shows and the past. The writing today is actually superior but the heart and soul of the show is missing. You don't connect with characters as people, it is just a show!
Agreed! They tried to recapture the magic of cheers with Abby’s, but that didn’t work. I agree the dialogue is much better only because they have the freedom to do what they want, back in the 60s-80s you had to be carful what you said in tv even on the 90s. But I feel the only current show that has the same magic as these old ones is The Big Bang Theory
R.I.P., Charlotte Rae.
travis7310 we love u miss Garrett
What I loved about this show - especially as I got older - is that at the end of the day, the girls had each other's back. Mess with one and you messed with them all. Shows now just have young ladies being shady and catfighting all the time. These would throw their share, too. But the stuff now is just straight evil and malicious. No conscience about doing anything.
They put work into getting the right song 2fit the back in the day. U could understand the music & sing along as well. The theme song 2A show could reel me in. I catch myself at times singing the themes of certain shows in certain situations I may encounter.
For anyone who is Wondering this is a Digitally Copied Version of the LP "A Shot in the Dark" which Gloria Loring released limited editions of.
Rest in peace #CharlotteRae Ms. Garrett
I grew up watching this and Jo will always be my fav. I know Charloette Rae personally and it touches me much. Great show.....!!!!
Can we ask what she was like? I grew up watching reuns and they shaped me I love Mrs. Garrett!
@@shutupjessica6172 yeah he didn't know her. He's probably lied on several other youtube videos claiming to know someone famous. Yeah he's a liar.
Yeah you didn't know her at all. Plus Lisa Welchel (Blair) was way hotter and still is.
@@danceswithcomicbooks7733 wow. Don't lie. I've never claimed to have met anyone famous but Ms Rae. There's something wrong with you for even saying that. I don't even post much on UA-cam idiot.
I'm not a he either. What is wrong with you
The facts of life are all about you. ❤
I really enjoy this full version, and the extra lyrics are quite catchy.
thanks for the memories....I miss the comedy sitcoms of the 80's.....and not forgetting Growing Pains...
This song was co-written by the dad on Growing Pains. He was married to the singer.
I didn't know that there was a full-version of The Facts of Life theme song, until now. I totally like it!
... I think I just died and went to heaven!!!! I never heard this version but I knew it existed! - Thank you soooo much for posting it
RIP Alan Thicke (who also co-wrote the theme for "Diff'rent Strokes").
Also, the singer(Gloria Loring)'s h*sband at the time.
And semi-current heartthrob Robin Thicke's ACTUAL father, just as the genuine father of Tracey Gold (daughter Carol Seaver on _Growing Pains_ where Alan Thicke was her TV dad & Kirk Cameron was her brother, Mike Seaver) was actually the casting agent for ill-fated child actress Judith Eva Barsi of _Land Before Time_ (as "duck-billed" hadrosaur Ducky), _All Dogs Go to Heaven_ (as Anne-Marie, the sad-eyed orphan), _Jaws 4: The Revenge_ (where the survivors of the original try to extract revenge out of the mechanical shark) & the horror film _Fatal Vision_ - in which a successful doctor father turns serial killer & heartlessly kills his wife & child as 2 of his victims - fame, with that last film sadly foretelling of Judith's own tragic fate at the hands of her abusively drunk father Josef Barsi (whose dangerous attitude & behavior family, friends, Josef's first wife & even social workers warned Maria, Judith's mother & Judith's 2nd wife who also came from an abusive background herself [to play Devil's advocate without actually absolving Josef of being guilty, Josef was abandoned by his sexually-abusive father in communist Hungry during one of the World Wars & immigrated to the States with many of those seeking to find new life in America, but he, unfortunately, turned out just like his old man in the end], to get away from for the sake of herself & her budding starlet daughter, but Maria's devotion to the house that Judith's actress money brought in seemed stronger than her own love for her own well-being & the life of her child star offspring, so Josef eventually did the unforgivable by committing double murder suicide, which was chronicled in the _Death of a Family_ documentary freely available to watch here on UA-cam). Before her death, Judith Barsi was on _Growing Pains_ too, seen as a flashback version of daughter Carol Seaver once Tracey Gold had blossomed into a capable woman, coincidentally.
rip mrs garrett
Interesting in Diff'rent Strokes "the world don't move to the beat of just one drum." Here "When the world never seems to be living up to your dreams." I can see a similar message in those two lines.
He also sang it
RIP Mrs. Garrett (Charlotte Rae) -- may you rest peacefully.
First Time Hearing The Whole Song!! I Freaking Love It!!
Hi There;
Absolutely great song and sung by a wonderful artist.
Rip Mrs Garrett! You were one of tv’s best housekeepers!
This was good but there was a group of girls who starred in this during their early years before Jo came on the scene. Does anyone remember that Molly Ringwald was also on this show? And I "think" Joseph Sanders was trying to put Cloris Leachman where Melissa Etheridge's pic wound up. Leachman played Beverly Ann Stickle (Garrett's sister) during the last 2 seasons. Remember, she ran the fancy gourmet shop...loved this show, the 80s was an awesome time to be a teen. Thanks for posting!
In the update, it indicates that the OP thought they were posting a picture of Lisa.
@@marywealth6475 That's crazy. How could any human being mistake Melissa for Lisa?
thank you for the photos joseph and the updates.your hard work for the fans needs to be appericated
i know this was one of my favorite show to watch !! ms. Thank you
Wow! I never knew there was a full song before. Gloria sure was talented.
Fond memories watching this as a kid. Excellent job with the visuals! I really appreciate the updated photos at the end.
This song popped in my head for no reason tonight so I looked it up on Wikipedia.
Interesting fact (acdording to Wikepedia): Ms. Welchel who played Blair declined to have her character be the first to lose her virginity and asked to be left out of that episode all together due to her Christian convictions. Who knew?
Back when TV was worth watching and not all this bullshit reality TV
I Blame the 90's for all this.
LycanVonWolf tv wasn't even invented in the 1920s idiot it was first made in 2001
Wayne Smith Maybe all the reality TV is why these shows are being shown so much as reruns now.
Could be but they still can make sitcoms its not that hard. All these reality that has been playing could been developed into a sitcom and provide a theme and laugh track.
Amen
Remember this I was a little girl wow miss the 80s ♥️lot change not no good shows like this no more at all
I remember when George Clooney used to be on the show. He looked like such a geek back then, lol.
A C Docgirl a hot geek lol
He played a contractor who was reb*(The key for this letter doesn't work on my keyboard)ilding "Edna's Eatibles".
I also remember that. He was also on Roseanne. Playing Roseanne and Jackie's Boss at the Factory they both Worked at. His Name was Booker. His Character was a Dick. And didn't last Long on the Show. He still looked like a Dork on Roseanne.
Yeah. The doctor drama ER cemented his popularity more.
I remember George Clooney on this show and Roseanne. He looked like a geek on both shows, but in a good way lol.
RIP Ms Charlotte Rae 😥 92 years old
What a great show, it really helped through troubling times when I was young. Now they are playing it on a local channel on weeknights, awesome!! I set my DVR to record every episode! :)
The 70s & 80s were the absolute best decades ever for TV shows. It was awesome being a teenager in the 80s
You take the good
You take the bad
You take them both and there you have the facts of life
The facts of life
There's a time you got to go
And show you're growin'
Now you know about the facts of life
The facts of life
When the world never seems
To be living up to your dreams
Then suddenly you're finding out
The facts of life are all about you, you
When there's someone that you care about
It really isn't fair, they're out to slow you up
When you're growing up
When you let them flirt and then you hurt waiting
'Cause your date is late in showing up
Then you're growin' up
When it's more than just the birds and the bees
You need someone telling you please
There's only one conclusion
There will always be confusion over you, you, you
It takes a lot to get all 'em right
When you're learning them all facts of life
You'll avoid a lot of damage
And enjoy the fun of managing the facts of life
They shed a lot of light
If you hear 'em from your brother
Better clear 'em with your mother
Better get 'em right
Call her late at night
You got the future in the palm of your hand
Now all you gotta do to get you through is understand
You think you'd rather do without
You'll never muddle through without the truth
The facts of life are all about you
Learn all the fact of life
All about you, you, you
They're all about you
Oh, things about the facts of life
You're never gonna learn them in just one night
Oh, things about facts of life
Oh, they're all about you
Oh, things about facts of life
You're never gonna learn them in just one night
Oh, things about facts of life
They're all about you, all about you

Any time I hear someone say "You take the good, you take the bad...." my ears perk up and I say to myself "this person is about to sing the Facts of Life theme!". Most times...they are not, though. It's a damn shame.
I understand Lisa Whelchel appeared in every episode of series except one. She protested the episode where the producers wanted one to the girls to take things further with their boyfriend. Lisa hated the idea, as she believed it was anti-Biblical. Nancy and Kim felt it would be promoting stereotypes for their characters. However, Mindy volunteered, because it would change how the audience viewed her character -- for better or worse, as Natalie was the least likely person people would expect to do such a thing. Mindy wanted her character to finally mature and change.
Never knew that. Thanks.
Happy 70th Gloria !
that was a real good song and show.
My favorite sitcom from the 80s
I was born in the late Autumn of 1978. The First Five Seasons were the Best! I Love the Classic Show with Mrs. Garret! I Love the Classic Television Show Theme Song!
Dam I have too say facts of life theme song is probably one of the most vocaly challenging songs ever for a theme song. She absolutely nailed it. Plus I love the baseline lol
You cannot be serious.
I think I only ever saw a few eps of this in reruns but man this song sticks in your head forever!
Love this show and the theme song....Reminds me of my aunts....
Oh the good old days
your from houston texas
Oh the Whet Bhags...
I Agree. I love The Facts Of Life!. My Favorite Character on it is Tootie.
The hometown of Mark Callaway (Undertaker), Booker T and the state of many other wrestlers (most notably HBK [based out of San Antonio], Stone Cold [billed from Victoria], Billy Gunn [getting listed as "from the great state of Texas" is as generic as you can get], the Rhodes/Runnels family [although "American Dream" Dusty's son Dustin as Goldust was billed from Hollywood, CA & his "American Nightmare" son Cody - formerly Stardust in WWE - possibly getting booked from one of the major metro cities too now that he's made himself a success in spite of WWE letting him go in his prime], etc.) and, more pertinent to F.O.L, the home state of Lisa Whelchel as Blair Warner (with her character's last name taken from the Warner Brothers of animation & film fame, most likely, even though prior to F.O.L, she was a 1970's Mouseketeer on the revival of the _Mickey Mouse Club_ by Disney, remembered for her "Won't Somebody Dance With Me" sequence, where she was adorably cute/date-worthy before blossoming on F.O.L & is now a graceful 50+ doing the one-off _Survival_ appearance & joining fellow F.O.L actresses Nancy McKeon [Joanne "Jo" Polzichek] & Kim Fields [Dorothy "Tootie" Ramsley] in doing LifeTime movies).

Probably one of the most catch television them songs ever! I also love the Lavene and Shirley them song
My parents were born during the mid 1940s, and my brothers were born during the former half of the 1970s. I was born in late 1979, during the time of the show’s first season, when the show was on hiatus mid-season. The first season shares its DVD box set with the second season. NBC originally had plans for a 10th season, but Mindy Cohen and Nancy McKeon elected to leave the show, but that didn’t sit well with NBC, so NBC canceled the show.
Amazing Television Show Theme Song!
I remember seeing the full lyrics on the sheet music, but never heard it performed!
Rest in peace. Mrs Garrett.
The first verse is used in the opening credits of the show. The third verse is used in the closing credits starting with the fifth episode. The second verse was used only in the first episode.
Had a Crush on Lisa Whelchel as Blair. Her Character as Miss know it All. Made me even Crazier for her

I learned the facts of life from watching the facts of life. OH GOD!
why when you went from the picture of Lisa Whelchel did you go to a picture of Melissa Ethridge ??????
Great Televison Theme Song!
Also, this seems to be sped up a little bit when you listen to Loring's voice on here vs the TV versions. It could be the record player, I have heard many different pitches from record players of some songs. If you have an audio editor, and slow it down 3%, the voice, pitch and beat are the same as the TV shows. Of course I could be totally wrong and this is the way it was meant to sound.
Searched for hours! All from an a cappella in scrubs and searching the wrong lyrics thank the lord.
