  • Melyssa Ford is an icon. She’s been a star for over 20 years and we’ve been friends for that long. She’s smart, she’s fun, she’s got some things she’s vulnerable about. We talk about never getting married, surviving a brain injury, being perimenopausal, being a sex symbol and why The Joe Budden show works so damn well.

      she has not "reinvented herself." She failed at real estate. She failed at trying to leverage being a video chick to an actress. She is changing the narrative of her relationship, especially the high profile ones where she was dumped (ex. flo rida). She is not the female role model from the 90s. How about Queen Latifah who has created a film and tv empire, leg3endary recording career, philanthropist, and Emmy and Oscar nominated actress.

It’s extremely hard and depressing being smart and beautiful ur whole life but now everything u knew has changed. When I was a young boy I watched an NRL (Rugby player) speak about a herb that helped him recover from a brain injury. This was in the 1980's. The herb is brahmi aka bacopa monnieri. The best brand to buy is Gaia Herbs Bacopa, and purchase their Ginkgo also. Take them at night with fruit. Your dreams will improve also. Take bentonite clay in the morning with plenty of water, don't stir it with a metal spoon. Stay away from foods/drinks with chemicals. - Dany, Coomera Australia

    I’ve been listening to the JBP since before the pandemic. Joe & the gang brought me through a severe depression . And then Mel arrived and I had it all! I retired from NYCDOC, surrounded by men all day long for about 23 years. It’s a different world, so I can relate. You got to know how to play in their space and not get offended, while simultaneously holding on to your self worth and representing for other women, when it gets too outrageous. It’s not easy but it can be a lot of fun. Just keep it friendly with out any romance and it can work to everyone’s benefit. You might even become cordial enough with their wives to be invited to family bbqs. 😂😂😂

    Just for the record, Kendrick’s fiancé is Blk (I believe her mom is the one who is mixed). But I understand the argument about the phenotypes that many Blk men prefer!

  • @tatteratter
    @tatteratter 19 днів тому +12

    Many times, biracial men and women have different experiences because beauty politics come into play. A “biracial aesthetic” is celebrated in the United States for women more so than it is for men, so mixed women can run into friction in black communities where black women feel past over time and time again for the “mixed girl”. - However, I don’t think Melissa Ford’s beauty is due to her looking mixed. She’s just real fine. I’m just saying, there’s a lot of layers to unpack with that conversation. Also, Black people in America have been effed over so many times that we need to know if you’re truly with us, or just cosplaying blackness when it benefits your image/bank account and then undermining us when we’re not around.

    I didn’t find out M4 was half white until she was on Hollywood Unlocked and I was extremely shocked. She presents as a light skinned black women, I would have never gave her mixed. So it’s interesting to hear her not identify as a black women because I would bet my left titty that she does not benefit from white privilege because she is not white passing…still love her DOWN it’s just interesting to hear her take on it, even though I get where she’s coming from. She’d be singing in a completely different key if she and her parents grew up in America. Their experience would completely mold their identity, unfort..

    51:31 the whole conversation about finding a man like her father makes a lot of sense. I think most women marry a man that consciously or subconsciously reminds them of their father

    Based on the comments I guess I need to get JBP another chance. I tried to watch but she seems to just sit there and say maybe a word or two and that’s it and I can never get through an entire episode.

    Black people can have two Black parents and look more “mixed” than Melissa Ford. Most people would never question her racial makeup if she didn’t speak about it. She is an attractive woman but she’s not phenotypically similar to Drake or Whitney Alford, who has two Black parents. That conversation was a bit odd.

      It was & it irked me. Felt offensive. To be here all of this time & still not understand the community that bc of she could become who she is today. I didn'tike it.

      Yeah. I never knew she was mixed until it came up on the Joe Budden Podcast. She isn't even that light skinned. I have cousins that are 2/3 shades lighter with both parents black. Also I'm brown skin and both my parents are Chris Brown's complexion. My Grandmother is a dark brown though. I'm just a tinge lighter than her. Black people come in so many shades for so many reasons. Plus Mel has black features. I wonder if her mom was Italian.

      @dianeross4522 Yeah, I was actually surprised to find out she was biracial. Her dad just has really strong genetics because her mom was Norwegian and Russian.

      You’re so right! I never thought she was mixed, and never heard anyone else say she was mixed.she has a black nose, black lips, black hair, black body. Her voice is black as well, she just sounds educated.

      💯 I have two black parents and Melissa ford presents blacker than me! I found out she was mixed from a preview of this podcast. She doesn’t present like Mariah Carey and Zendaya.

    It actually feels weird to hear Mel able to talk so freely without the "guys" cutting her off. We may need to look at that on the JBP...haha But Mel cooked this interview! Great job...and Joe should give her a seperate show or segment produced by Mel on content she desires.
