I’m not sure how it took me this long to find this channel but I’m glad I did. Really great content, the mix of photography talk and wildlife information is perfect. Thank you
Once again an excellent video by Doug and Jared. Its refreshing to see you guys showing some amazing technical photography tips, plus practical tips while in the field. Amazing job. Well done and keep it up.
You guys are great...I really appreciate all your stay safe (for the bear and the human)tips. I am a older woman who enjoys hiking by myself and always try to use good judgement when I come upon a bear. I love the bears and thanks to people like you we will continue to enjoy those gorgeous bears🌷
One of the most well demonstrated and well argued bear precations I've seen and heard. And fantastic sceneries and pics btw. have followed you for a while.
Great content and love the demonstration of the bear spray and the discussion about the photography of wild bears!!! Your channel deserve way more subscribers in my opinions. Keep up the great work!
Amazing photos! This video definitely gets me excited for bear season. I can't wait to go out and film them, especially since they should be waking up soon. I love the photography tips provided. There was a lot of great info. I'm definitely going to try photographing grizzlies with F6 aperture. Also, I recognize Mt. Moran in the background.
This was the best bear safety info I’ve ever received, even learned a few things! I agree with going no firearm, a false sense of security doesn’t go far in a real-time situation. This channel is awesome.
Pretty good video guys. I always have my Udap on my side. Couple things. In 2010, the federal government made it legal to carry firearms in national parks. That said, I think most calibers that are commonly carried would be pretty useless stopping a charging grizzly. Also, even this was a video about you taking grizzly photos, you sort of presented a generalized response to bear encounters. I would have like to see some differentiations made. A charging grizzly and a charging black bear should be handled differently in some aspects. Thanks for the video.
Yes, guns are permitted in Yellowstone National Park. Park visitors are able to openly carry legal handguns, rifles, shotguns and other firearms per a federal law approved by Congress and signed by President Barack Obama in February 2010. Concealed weapons are allowed by state statute.
Nice video but you need to be careful telling people that bears pretty much attack only at close range. There is a video on youtube that interviews a guy named Todd Orr who was attacked by a bear in Montana. He came up over a ridge and saw a bear way off in the distance. The bear ran off and disappeared in the brush and circled around behind him and got him. He was attacked twice in 15 minutes. He had bear spray and used it but it didn't help. Bears are gorgeous creatures but are very unpredictable.
Jared is clearly not a gun guy. If he's worried about fumbling the gun, shooting himself or someone else then it's in every ones best interest he sticks with spray.
I live in Montana and spend a lot of time in the wilderness photographing, believe it or not, I haven't found ticks to be a problem. In the last 20 years I could count on one hand how many I have had to pull off.
They are Phnomonial Beasts. Brilliant Photos, I'd shit my pants. To be fair, a running bear can care less about spray, very few bk off!! Most say stay quiet, or make noise?? Either way That bear has been proven only 12% look at u and walk away. To me u can't plan for this.
If it’s your opinion that bear spray is the most effective tool to stop a bear charge that’s fine but don’t spread false information about firearms. Anyone who can legally own a gun can openly carry a gun in national parks.
Yes you are correct, you can carry firearms “now” in National Parks. What you didn’t realize before writing your comment was that this video was produced prior to February 22, 2010 when this firearm law was passed!
@@douggardner1 I live in Montana, do a lot outdoors, hunting, fishing, hiking, and photography. Bearspray is hands down the best defense for a charging bear. Noise is the best defense to keep from getting charged.
someoneneeds to tell Jared to shut-up and quit talking down to folks. Doug does okay. As for open carry in a N.F. part of the problem is the gov't going after your gun even though they know they're in the wrong.
.45-70 can stop a bear in it's tracks bear spray isn't the best tool. That's just seasoning on the meal and you are the meal. Assume the position lay and pray. You are the meal With a short rifle thats a .45-70 calibar.... What's for lunch bear steak!

Amazing video, nice work. Where abouts is this in the Absaroka range, Montana/Wyoming border?
Mostly around Togwotee Pass
@@douggardner1 Interesting. Wouldn't that be the Bridger-Teton National Forest?
Enjoy the video's so much here in East Texas
Thanks for your information

great job guys but carry plenty of water food such as a package of tuna, lighter, wrecking bar, bear spray
duct tape and a small coleman heater
Very good videos the wildlife is very diferent than Ecuador
why did you say we're going to avoid Jackson hole and Tetons areas??? are they More aggressive in those said area's???
I would guess to avoid the crowds of people, maybe?

how's the bugs??
Spray it towards the ground at angle as they come at you head down.

Blahahah...actually he was just stating exactly what the reports said from a 20 year study on bear spray.
@@douggardner1 The 20 year bear spray study said people fumble firearms, shoot themselves or other people? They need to stay away from firearms also.

Never mind the bears, you guys got munched by mosquitoes. Brutal. 😣
What Nikon body is Jared using?
XLogic probably the D5
Can you show more of the bears and less talking
