"I'm not afraid of them; I'm afraid of me, and the heartache ill cause my family"
Truth bro
Sammy is 💯 % correct on all that Army draft stuff..I too was drafted in 1971, and went from being dropped off at the Federal building for all day processing & bussed directly to a basic training post. 16 weeks later I was in Vietnam, and then returned back home to hatred towards me being send into that war.
That seems like such a weird process. Were felons getting drafted as well?
I'm sorry that you had to come back to people who had no clue what you were subjected in war , Thank you for your service. Just know that not everyone was so shallow and most appreciated your service.
The worst war yet. Others got to volunteer, our boys were drafted! I feel like I lost a future hubby over there, with my divorced self. Namean? Hate war. Peace, Love, Power to the Ppl!! Appreciate your service of course🇺🇲💝⚖👊
Thank you for your service. Bless you, and welcome home.
@@jameskarins1717 They weren't getting drafted but were usually given the choice of jail or military service, and it was like that all the way up until 2006-around that time period-even a lot of GWOT veterans were felons given the choice of jailtime or military service. Once upon a time that wasn't too big of a problem, but I'm sure you can envision the problems that started happening when you're throwing *often violent* felons into a world of discipline & obedience and sometimes a chaotic war zone; got to the point where we started getting gang members from places like Compton/Chicago etc and shit bags in general, the gang bangers would come back from the war-or sometimes even finish basic training & just go AWOL-and apply those skills to the streets..
I volunteered in the Army and went to Vietnam, I was trained at Fort Jackson S.C Basic Training and Infantry training. Then went to Jump School at Ft .Benning Ga. when Sammy talks abt them yelling and screaming He ain't bullshitting when I got there I said What the fuck is this. I went to Vietnam in 1969 for 16 mos. After I got there some of Buddies were going home aft. 12 mos. I said Why do I have to stay longer the Lt. told me because I volunteered He said you should've got drafted then you could go home aft 12 mos. I said what a dumb fuck I am. I made it through , made some great friends. Some lived some died but the few of us left still keep in touch. I know it might sound like bullshit but we saw a lot of action every other day sometimes everyday. We tried to take care of each other the best we could. I have the utmost respect for anyone who served. Was I a little fucked up when I came back for sure but worked through it. I still have a little temper , not as bad as back then, sometimes walking away is the best thing , sometimes not. But what the fuck do I know. Good story Sammy brought back some memories.
It's ALWAYS best to walk away UNLESS its your life ✌️💗
@@xtinamarie_333 I agree but also if it's someone else's life.

Thank you for your service sir.
@mr Aries 84 Spent a lot of time in the VA years ago. I'm fine now Thanks for the concern though.
The military locked the door and told the draftees "Now yous can't leave."
I will never forget the look on their faces all their courage and strength drained from their bodies.

Sammy, your in great shape for 76! That military training paid off. D-10-1 Tank Hill, Fort Jackson SC is where I went for Basic training. Great story Sammy!
I did my basic at Jackson too. But tank hill ain't got shit on misery agony and heartbreak in Ft.Knox. yeesh
Did my basic at the hill in 84. So cold one night pipes froze in barracks. Can't speak for anywhere else. Memories of pine and sand. Good times😃
Awsome
His shape is from 20 years in the pen.
The military had nothing to do with his physique at this late in his life. Prison kept him in good shape
Even when Sammy is telling a story that has nothing to do with the mob, I'm glued to my phone. One of the best story tellers I've ever heard.
Agreed 100%. I really like this guy....
Definitely 1 hell of a raconteur
I could listen to him for HOURS!
I don't know if this woman is still alive now or not. But if she is and recognizes herself in this story , I hope
she realizes how very lucky she was to confront Sammy the Bull in this manner and live to realize how much Providence was
watching out for her that day.
Seriously, right? It was very easy for her to stand there yelling at Sammy because she wasn’t the one drafted. Too bad they didn’t cross paths later. She and her doofus boyfriend would’ve been a sniveling pile of tears.
Being a hippie and obviously insane she probably overdosed
Sammy, I nearly pissed myself with that "I am gonna hit him soo hard his mother is gonna feel it...grab her stomach, oh my god something happened.." Hysterical.
Lmao,that was funny as hell!!!

Regardless if one disagrees with a war, it has nothing to do with Military personnel. Politicians start the wars. To disrespect Military personnel by spitting on them, knowing they can't retaliate is the lowest form of coward. Thank you, Sammy, for your service. I served too and it was a great honor to serve.
Spitting on anyone is disgusting. Soldiers fighting combatants is one thing, soldiers committing war crimes is another. The former even if I disagree with the war I will respect, the latter are POS who disrespect the uniform, the people they fight for and their fellow soldiers and are unworthy of respect....but I still wouldn't spit on them.
Exactly. Go spit at the decision makers if you have the balls.
Agreed. The people doing shit like that weren't over there fighting for their lives wheather politicians caused it or not!
Shameful behavior. These were young men drafted in the war. To call someone you don’t know a baby killer?

That wall is very long. I remember as if were yesterday. My Uncle Charlie crashed his plane in Italy after his sucide mission.
Those are the same scumbags that are in the government and Media now.

I’m an Iraqi Freedom Veteran. I left the streets in Southwest Detroit to join the Army. There are things in the streets that will form you and you cant ever get that experience out of you. Sammy, FYI the military say goodbye like this "Fire in the Hole!" Sammy you could read out your grocery list and we would be all ears, just like a cornfield. Wishing you all the best from New Zealand.
“Fire in the hole” means a fuse has been ignited and anyone in earshot should prepare themselves for an oncoming explosion in the next few seconds.
Not goodbye

You the man Sammy! Keep the stories coming. I have 17 years in the army now. I love these stories.
That's manly 💯 as I get older I get how important it is to walk away from bs, the repercussion just isn't worth it
Mr. Gravano, the military way of saying goodbye was to say later to eachother when they went on missions. The idea of that being goodbye was permanent where as saying later was equivalent to saying I'll see you later.

It’s completely true Sammy never said one thing on those tapes the cops planted in that building. Gotti wouldn’t shut up and even threatened to kill Sammy. Sammy was 100% loyal till the day Gotti said for Sammy to go prison so he could get off. Screw that.
@@Clipz425 yeh thats right he did, but i wouldn't have the first clue what living in his world was like, all i can judge him on is the person i see in these videos. Any man is more than what can be defined by one action in their life.

I love and respect all of our military veterans past, present and future. Thank you for all you have done for us, all your sacrifices and your incredible courage. 🇺🇸
The veterans are not at fault but the recent military involvements of America were uncalled for. I think Sammy has always been a soldier at heart. Starting with the Rampers and continuing in the Mafia. He killed other dangerous men in a war like situation. He was set up to take the fall and had no choice but to save his own life. The more I get to know Sammy the better I like him !

"I'm not afraid of them... I'm afraid of me." That's the way it always is with those professionally trained to do violence. We know our capabilities far outweigh those of the fools who dare to challenge us. We walk away not because we are afraid of them, but because we don't want the karma of what we could do to them on our souls.
Do you realize who he is?
@@shaunboyd4487 just because you've done it before doesn't mean you want to just keep on doing it. He's not a fucking serial killer
@@shaunboyd4487 People have various different motivations for violence. It's a question of subscribing to some sort of moral code. Some of us believe it is acceptable to do violence in your own defense. Some say it is acceptable in order to enforce the law, or to protect your country. Those within the Mafia generally believe that violence is acceptable in enforcing the particular codes of conduct stipulated by Cosa Nostra. Sammy falls within this group... he has a moral code, whether that code does or does not seem logical or acceptable to the majority of us. Then there are the real nutcases... criminals who become addicted to the power and the violence, who disregard ANY moral code and will brutalize or even kill you just for looking at them wrong.

Sammy's story about getting spit on at the airport was par for the course during the mid to late 60's through the mid 70's. It happened to me in San Francisco International Airport, two young women, who screamed at me, spit on me, and threw tomato juice on my uniform to signify blood. What disturbed me even more than that was all the "good citizens" who said they "supported the military" just turned their heads and kept on walking. Not one single person came to my defense. I was in the Air Force for over 31 years and whenever I think about that happening on the way to my first duty assignment it was like it happened yesterday. You and I differ in many ways Sammy but we're brothers in uniform. Thank you for your service.

@Eventual Visitor not in 1966.
@Eventual Visitor really bro? Keep throwing rocks in your glass house. You don’t know how betrayed he was and how deep into the life he was. Gotti was an animal and a douchebag threw Sammy right under with no honor. Fuck him. I’m firmly on Sammys side. He was betrayed and Gotti is the reason all those other people got jammed up by proxy. It was just like what the government does to all its soldiers they use you till there’s nothing left and throw you away. Fuck that.
@Eventual Visitor There's so much irrefutable-concrete-evidence that Gotti full fledged betrayed Sammy it's actually mind boggling, literally thousands of hours of recorded FBI tapes with Gotti just ranting and raving as if Sammy was some dog he didn't even know-stabbing Sammy in the back as plain as day-and he outright told Sammy: "You're the sacrificial lamb, the streets need the boss," (even though Gotti was WHY they were all locked up) so GTFO of here.
@Eventual Visitor That's not the debate here you imbecile, the fact is Gotti's lawyers OUTRIGHT attempted to paint Sammy as some 'evil sadistic murderer' who 'poor John Gotti lost control of', they were making it out to be like Sammy was "taking control of everything, the union's/construction, he's always whacking someone it's whack this and whack that" (that last part's a quote from John on tape mind you), Sammy's own FBI handlers have attested to everything he's said in great detail-we've literally heard some of what John Gotti was saying about Sammy in the THOUSANDS of hours of recorded conversation-idk what more I can say past that.
Sammy is as genuine as it gets and that paired up with his life experience as well as his storytelling genius (yes, genius!), makes this whole concept a winner on all fronts (to use a military phrase)!
