One thing that was/is dissapointing as a V2 veteran, is the lack of secrets in the maps. The maps in V2 had all types of little secret shortcuts and other little secrets.
Oh yes... That would have been great to have.. Could even have cheeky secrets like pulling levers or pushing buttons in a certain order unlocks a secret door to more materials or if you mess up.... opens a door for a patrol or monster to pop out!
Exactly all the grims and tomes were in spots that required little tricks or a hidden route to get, not random spawns that no one cares about in darktide
@@braindeadhoovy2562 I have great gaming memories of running V1 cataclysm all tomes all grimoires and having to know every location and grab those while still surviving through the mission. Darktide just doesn't scratch that same itch with its tomes and grimoires.
@@VallornDeathblade I agree, starting a mission and then people asking if the group wants to get grims and tomes it adds a good layer of optional difficulty AND worthwhile rewards haha
Full character customization for existing characters, Name, Gender, High and background. New Weapons and variants. New Race/class to play as like Ratlings maybe even xenos. New enemy types like Rogue Psykers that buff and heal there allies. New enemy faction like Genestealer Cult.
1) I would also like the ability to just check what background i gave my chars in the first place 2) consistant inventory for each class (if i create 2 psykers they both can access the same guns/trinkets) So I could create a different new character without loosing all gear (wouldn't mind the leveling too much) 3) New enemy faction could also be a rival chaos cult (Tzeench maybe)
For the love of god plasteel from bosses, with how long missions can take on damnation regularly, 25+ ish, trying a new weapon that you've wanted to requires a lot of play for the plasteel, often stopping me from playing because after a few missions I feel burnt out because of the lack of decent rewards, to the point I haven't opened the game in a couple of weeks because I know I wouldn't end up enjoying it at the end And this is coming from a long time D2 player to put it into perspective
While I see the argument of materials dropping from Monsters and Bosses... I'd find it strange that a bunch of Plasteel just popped out of a Chaos Spawn.. Maybe a material multiplier of like 5% extra for every Monster/Boss killed up to a max of 15-20% might be better? Like a "Good job on killing those blasphemous creations! Here! Have more metal!"
@@rykenxiv yeah that's a much better idea, a multiplier, would reward surviving double or triple encounters where you're left with less and less to survive as the mission goes on
How Veteran/Red gear was handled in VT2 was self-defeating because they made all previous gear qualities redundant, which forced players to farm them exclusively, which fed into the low tier crafting scarcity. Now DT only has 2 crafting materials, neither of which are gained from selling gear, but adding red gear would lead to their exclusive farming and disuse of dockets/materials. So instead of adding another separate roulette wheel, how about we simply add an option to upgrade stats?
The introduction of a Left 4 Dead and Vermintide style campaign where the players fight through about 4ish missions in a row would greatly benefit the game's replay ability factor. I can imagine that each campaign would have their own unique missions, aesthetic, challenges and rewards along with having the choice to have the already ingame mutators/challenge modifiers enabled to spice up the gameplay.
You've basically covered my list. The newest carnival mission was a nice change to the basic structure in that you at least had multiple different objectives to do in the final section, they should be pushing to make each mission more unique in mechanics.
I would love a basic attachment system, especially for weapon sights. With the dark and visually noisy aesthetic, quick target acquisition with ironsights difficult. It's not at all impossible, but it's still a pain. The ability to choose either a flashlight, a bayonet, a fire selector, or a stun attack would be a nice quality of life improvement. A scope would be cool, too, even if it's just an asthetic item. A separate mask and helmet slot would be great, especially for the zealots' wierd bald spot mask. A reward for going out of your way to banish a demon host and a better reward for grimoures and scriptures would be nice. (Leaving a demon to do as it pleases doesn't sound very Inquisition like either. You'd probably get shot for that.) Veteran medic support sub-class like the apothecary from Deathwing would be an interesting concept, but it might interfere with med item spawn rates, so it's probably not a good idea.
@DD-zh4by How? When I play a given mission, it is nearly identical every time. There is no build crafting along the way or weapon change-outs, nor is there any player agency to choose a path forward like CW in V2 has.
1) More story/lore getting told inside the game. Easiest way would be a mission intro like in Vermintide 2 "Go to silo cluster xx. The water cartel used to run this place untul the heretics backstabed them" "This district (the desert one) had been abandond for quite some time, was a perfect place for the dregs to grow before this whole mess." Or just a "book" with lore entries like in V1 2) QoL stuff. - Inspect your character during mission - callouts for DH/monster/ Yes/No/Help on the social wheel - Hud for spectator (aka "you are dead") - Add the information about player loadout + kick/mut options to the "Mission details" aka TAB key like V2 had - auto-block when entering menu/typing 3) A use for the penance points, for example convert it to currency for the cosmetics store. The amount of penance points is very finite, so it won't bankrupt them. 4) Enemy psyker, either as special enemy, miniboss or a boss variant for assasination missions 5) A ratling class :p 6) A marketplace aka auctionhouse where players can sell weapons/trinkets to other players, either for credits or crafting material. Prixing would be fixed like it is now, i.e: - Brunt sells you for 100% weapon value (wp) - brunt buys back for only 15% wp - auction house gives you 60% wp, but only if a player buys it (don't think they will do it, but would make the RNG weapon stats more bearable) 7) a mission with friendly AI like the PDF actually fighting or a demolisher tank firing it's guns/being animated Generally surprised there is no Chimera / Tremor gun / heavy weapons team / Sentinal as setpieces anywhere, but loads of Leman Russ demolishers. In general the lack of variaty in vehicles displayed: Trikes, quads, Leman russ and (added with carnival) a "truck/apc?" 8) Ability to replay video sequences. 9) Ability to check what background a character has (what had been selected a char creation)
Aren’t we already being briefed on every deployment? “You will scan for this pathogen” “You will unalive that VIP” “You will steal that very important tin can” AND getting bits of the location’s lore? “Heretics control the railway, so we’ll intercept one of the trains”, etc.
What I want them to add is dynamic, randomized bonus encounters and boss fights that actually give you cool stuff like in Deep Rock. They have so much level geometry and unused doors and what not. Why not make some of them hackable to access a secret heretic weapons cache that gives you a few choices to pick a weapon from. Or customization or things like this. Just additional optional challenges that can pop up beyond "find some guys cursed cook book".
This would be a good idea for collecting "parts" that create an extremely rare weapon or item, much like how a puzzle piece collected puts together a new completed item. This would be good for how some weapons like an Inferno Pistol are considered very rare, or to achieve the unlock for master-crafted weapons
I have already thought of a way they could skin the chaos wastes, the sump works, being sent into the deepest darkest abyss of the the underhive to rout out truly entrenched chaos forces
ok i need to leave this comment here. you are one of maybe 2 people who I have watched speak on darktide who actually plays this game so darn well. every position you were in was dealt with almost perfectly. very nice awareness and movement. i have a 30 level psyker, ogryn, working on the vet right now.
Word is there is also a Tier V for blessings that has been in the works, maybe that will also cause Tier III exclusive Blessings (like Blaze Away) to have a Tier IV version, and how Tier V is able to amount to the "Red" in VT2 and maybe the name in DT would be "Master Crafted" to be the next up from Transcendant
My wishlist is - Give us all the weapons that Guard can use on tabletop, one a month, every month, for the game's entire remaining uptime, starting with hellguns/volley guns, then plasma pistols, then that nice 2h power broadsword that's been in the game files since day #1 of Beta 2 in Nov 2022, longlas, melta guns ffs - Give us a way to buy the perks and blessings we want. - Give us an easier way to get a "godroll" weapon with 375-380 stats in the stats we want them in. Maybe tie your weapon quality to your character level - Give us an 'avoid player' function. - Give us the option to make our characters from other incredibly famous planets like Valhalla, Armageddon, Ryza - More characters. Skitarii at minimum. Hell, this is a ship of rejects, why aren't there any xenos on board? Xenos are often found on rogue trader ships or with inquisitorial retinues. - Let us choose what mission to play, at what difficulty, with what modifiers - Actually make it worthwhile to pick up Grims and Scrips, their reward is crap and barely merits sacrificing any other consumable to do so. When you pick up a Grim/Scrip it should massively boost the reward you get. If you do a Sedition mission and get them all, it should pay out like a Malice mission. If you get it done on Damnation, it should straight up be a bonus of 100k credits. If you do it on _any_ auric, and you get all the scrips or grims there? Bonus +1m credits. Make them _worthwhile._ Still, it took them two full years to add a single unique new weapon to VT2 and the team at Fatshark has gotten significantly worse since then.
I remember another youtuber proposed a way to spend diamantine to remove a weapon lock when asked about improvements, and that's been my #1ever since. Doesn't even have to be that but just give us a way to grind off the locks on our weapons so we don't have to junk 370+ - rolled weapons because the perks/blessings all suck. Other than that I agree with better reward/material scaling as we ramp up the difficulty.
I've also seen those suggestions as well.. and I'm going to paste a response I gave to another comment about why locks can't be entirely removed: "Without the locks we end up losing a core part of the game - the chase for weapons (after getting 1 Godroll, all other drops don't matter anymore since you can just tweak and swap out perks and blessings). I'm sure Fatshark is thinking about this too.. So I can understand why locks exist.. But the biggest problem tends to be your hard-earned 370+ white being bricked because of Hadron's RNG nonsense. One solution is to remove locks entirely, which nullifies Hadron's RNG (which if you have no locks anyway, why have a system with random blessings and perks?) Buuut...given that RNG needs to be in the system (however disagreeable anyone finds it), then the only solution is to make getting 370+ weapons a lot easier. Use sheer quantity to overwhelm the lack of quality" Hence why my proposed solution is to try and work with the limitations that Fatshark has imposed (RNG being necessary for longevity in their eyes)
@@rykenxiv Yeah, I guess I can see where the locks do provide longevity and why my post above was wishful thinking. I guess I was a tad salty of having to let a 380 roll shovel go cuz RNGesus wasn't kind. Honestly I'm down for any changes at this point; crafting's starting to wear on me a tad. On another note I've particularly enjoyed your psyker builds, especially the cinder mage one. Not gonna lie I usually use a trauma staff so not auto staggering enemies on my RMB attacks took some getting used to, but as of late I'm finding myself playing psyker as much as ogryn, and I'm an ogryn main lol. So, TLDR, great work on the builds, keep it up.
@@rykenxiv Although I do agree unlocking all slots would be a bit much, I feel weapons could really use a third possible unlocked slot. Two slots on curios is nice, you still have some randomness on the third slot, but it doesn't make it a complete crapshoot. I certainly would appreciate the ability to fork over a couple k Diamantine to unlock slot 3. Even with just one locked slot on weapons, combined with the rng of the stats, you would still be on the lookout for that perfect weapon. If we weren't forced to sink an insane amount of plasteel in a single weapon we would be able to experiment with more weapons. Most weapons I never even give a chance, because I know I can't afford to upgrade them fully.
@@rykenxiv I just feel like this obsession with getting god rolls is fundamentally flawed. Darktide isn't an ARPG, there's games out there that do this gimmick so much better. The crafting in Darktide should just be a means to facilitate different builds and breakpoints. I shouldn't have to spend hours to try a new build, it's a waste of time and isn't what is fun about the game.
Quality of life improvements: Faster load times more cosmetics more emotes emote in game weapon skins fix strike team audio bugs fix falling off map bug add weapon scopes different types of ammo more end of game poses did I mention faster load times..😂 game is great imo but I'd like to see a few of these
It takes me any where from 2 to 4 seconds to load on a series x. Other words it’s barely noticeable. And on pc it’s almost instant. So it might be a hardware issue for you.
Honestly I would like the ability to more directly manipulate the statline of a weapon. Turning a bad roll into a good roll by being able to increase some of its stats to a certain amount would be nice. More character slots (in fact, enough for one of every personality) and a shared inventory between them instead of having to grind seperate characters' loadouts, and a higher level cap. Five or so, perhaps.
I would like to see a new map where the final boss is an infested train. It would have weapons that would be similar to those of gunners, reapers, and maybe flamers (maybe even release tox gas), and would also release pox walkers and certain specials. Also when you deal enough damage it would stop moving and those weird infected things that you need to destroy and release those tentacle things, you would destroy 3 of those before you need to get on the train to kill someone or take something (like those crystals in the riser mission). For some reason I wanted this in the game seeing as how many trains and train tracks you see in the game. Surely like Nurgle or whoever does the things in Tertium, would make one to defend and secure certain objectives needed to overtake the city (or infect it whatever they do I don't really know the lore), but I just thought it would be interesting. Also I didn't expect this to be so long.
I remember reading on Reddit that a disgraced Tech Adept would be a better way in since trying to work out how a Skitarii winds up in a cage on the bastion is harder to explain and a lowly disgraced Tech Adept being banished or something
heckdelvers 2 will be a great distraction to hold our attention for the time being, giving fatshark all the time they need to polish up some new updates.
I want to see a new game mode where two teams compete to see who can survive progressively harder waves longer or race through levels to see who can reach the end first with slower teams gaining the chance to spawn monstrosities or patrols on the team in the lead like a mario kart blue shell.
Agree on most counts, but what I'm waiting for the most are more maps and enemies. More daemons and/or chaos cultist types (dark commune psykers/accursed cultists/torments) would spice things up. Psyker enemies would create a brand new challenge, as would Nurgling swarms - nothing that would break the lore, meaning we're still unlikely to be smacking down greater daemons or Mortarion's death guard😅 Not super-excited about Genestealers potentially being added. There's plenty more Chaos-themed foes that would be more exciting and fit with the overall theme. Do we need Genestealers/Tyranids in every single game? For the Psyker- please please give us a telekine weapon/subclass. I'd absolutely adore being able to violently smash enemies into other enemies etc.
Yeah I think FS needs to release new enemies and to nail it, they got alot of stigma from people when they released beastmen in v2, FS has to go over this hump and prove they can do it right.
in relation to your point about genestealers being in too many games, i'm tired of nurgle, i wanna see some khorne or tzeentch action. we already have a few games about nurgle, and vermintide 2 had a ton of nurgle.
Nurgling Swarms would be perfect to have added in knowing a Zealot with a Flamer would have a heyday spouting fire as they come chattering morbidly hilarious words and jargon (knowing nurglings are highly mischievous buggers lol!)
@GhoulGrant only reason Nurgle won the bid for DT was bc of the Plague Zombie core element that a majority of Nurgles cultists become, that alongside the hype of games going up against hordes of zombie like enemies (Left4Dead, CoD Zombies) is a familiar game play dynamic, yet ofc for most of us Warhammer fans, we see potential for alternate factions to fight such as Tzeentch (psyker emphasis, cultists that have some weapons with warpfire effects, Tzeentch Sorcerors, Pink and Blue Horrors would be wild to go up against much like in Boltgun). The rarest to see in games is Slaanesh bc so many allude to the very explicit themes of Slaanesh domains, where as there can be emphasis on the Pain domain, cultists coming in masse like flagellants alongside knowing that Daemonettes don't have to be as revealing, and it would be wild to see a cultist that is wielding a sonic weapon that is like a junior version of a kakophoni/sonic blaster or sonic screamer/doom siren
There are so many great options for future assassination mission targets that can be added to create variety in the fights. Imagine a chaos enforcer (commissar) who can't be damaged until his ogryn bodyguards are disabled, a Mobian Sentinel pilot stomping around with a multi-laser and missile pods, or a rogue psyker zipping around in the air blasting smite and moving objects in the arena.
I'd think it could become a second tab in the "Special Missions" section, since I can see FS adding another set of Special Missions since the Assassination of the Twins mission has been around for a while. I'm thinking if they do something like Chaos Wastes they'd have it where it's in the Wastelands that are outskirts of the Hive City, going up against a Tribe of Techno-Marauders that are deemed heretics seems to fit the bill
I hope some time in the future we get a trip to the other hive in a chaos wastes style gamemode. Would be amazing if this include a new faction in a genestealer cult, bonus points if the chaos boys and the genestealers fought eachother.
I mostly want the extra upgrade slot for weapons and more character creation options with the ability to change voices at any time. And DEFINITELY the plasteel conversion.
I know there isn't much premise for it, but I would love if the Ogryn got access to the super heavy weapons that normally require power armor. IE Las-Cannon, and Heavy Flamer/Heavy Melta Gun.
more player character customisation options, I want to make some freakish abhumans. beastmen would be dope, give the ogryn a minotuar look. XP But I think your ideas should come first idealy. As that assures longer health of the game.
i sorta wish there are secret and parkour like the good old V2 to find those tomes. Darktide finding a tome is like "oh it here...neat" they can try to tell a story where you can find these tome in Darktide in specific location and what happened
Martyr Skull Relics being introduced and the puzzles for them been fun now, was able to figure out all of them so I can help people get them, and in return get a bonus in plasteel for the fun of it
My wish list would be: - chaos wastes - a more social Mourningstar - red weapons - new weapons -> meltagun -> plasma pistol -> power fist -> volley gun/hotshot lasgun - improved crafting with less rng frustration like how you explained it - more pennances/free cosmetics. Dunno how much can be done in a year, but I'm hoping with the bulk of fixes out of the way, we can look forward to a content pipeline taking shape.
I was playing with the idea of making all weapon special abilities be put into a pool, each for melee and ranged. All weapons would start with the general bash as their base special, and then you can upgrade it with any fr the pool. I would love a parry on the combat knife or a bayonet on standard lasguns.
Or at least marks that come with a new special, like the new shovels. Something to make each mark have a lil special sauce instead of "This has a GOOD attack pattern for horde clear and single target, so it's good, and this one DOES NOT so it's bad" also..... giving every weapon, with the exception of 'specialized' (the axes, for example) weapons, access to one crowd, and one single target, combo would be aces
3:08 A much better solution would be to simply decrease the cost of plasteel to upgrade an item. I don't think littering a map with plasteel everywhere is a good idea. Having to pick up more stuff in a mission breaks up the action, splits up the team, and artificially increases how long it takes to finish the mission.
I really like all of your ideas - well thought-out and seems like they could all happen with a little balancing on Fatshark's side. I also would love a Chaos Wastes mode. The thing that made CWs particularly fun is that it forced you to try new things, and run new builds on the fly. I'm the kind of person who often "settles" into a preferred build, and doesn't explore other options. CWs allowed to me try new things while making V2 feel refreshing again after 700+ hours.
So we're just over two weeks away from the "Unlocked and loaded" itemisation and crafting rework. Along with new blessings, weapon balancing and more weapons shared between Veteran, Zealot & Psyker (sorry Ogryn), a new mission (number 20). What we've had this year, given we'll be 3/4 through it when the patch drops hasn't been astonishing. (From my thrilling spreadsheet comparing VT vs VT2 vs DT updates overtime) ++++++++++++ 21/2/24 Patch #17: Power Sword tweaks, Daemonhosts leave after 1 death on all difficulties, Spectating HUD 16/4/24 Patch #18 "Path of Redemption": Penance Rework: Shrine Penitentax and Path of Redemption, Personality Scourge, New enemy: Dreg Tox Bomber, New condition: Pox Gas, Mission Puzzles, Heretical Idols, Mission type change. Talent rebalance, Bulwark and Rager rebalance 25/6/24 Patch #19 "Secrets of the Machine God": New Map Zone: Inter-Zone Void Sector Omega-12, New Mission: Clandestium Gloriana (Interzone Void Repair), 4 New Weapon Groups, 7 new weapon variants (Boltpistol, 2x Shock Mauls, Assualt Shotgun, 3x Ogryn Pickaxes), Talent, weapon and blessing rebalance. Groaner, Scab shooter and Dreg Ranger buffs 3/7/24 Hotfix #42 Patch 1.4.2: Reverted Shooter buff, Close Range 12.5m (up from 8m), Flamer buff, Pickaxe range tweak, Tigrus Mv XV Eviscerator attack chain speed buff 15/8/24 Herald of Admonition Event (Rinda on non-Auric lights out missions.) [[26/9/24 "Unlocked and Loaded" Itemisation rework, 1 new mission, shared weapons, blessings rework, weapon rebalance, more social options.]] ++++++++++++ It feels pretty sparse compared to the Good Times last year from August to December. ++++++++++++ 8/8/23 "Into the Maelstrom" - Auric Mission board, Maelstrom missions, Accountwide resources. 3/10/23: Talent & Class Rework 14/11/23: Traitor's Curse part 1: New map zone and mission. 5/12/23: Traitor's Curse part 2 : New mission, Stimms, 10 new weapon variants, the Karnak Twins ambushes 13/12/23: The Orthus Offensive Special Assignment ++++++++++++ And we have got: New penances with titles and cosmetics. More plasteel from idols More weapons: Bolt Pistol, Shock Mauls, Assault Shotguns, (two-handed!) Ogryn Picks - two of these were what you wanted. And we are getting:. Perk and blessing locks removed. Weapons upgraded. A more linear and reliable way of getting blessings The ability to change weapons between variants within the same weapon family. More use for diamantine. More shared weapons. I hope Unlocked and loaded does for itemisation what the class and talent rework did for that side of the game. Likewise, it might be tribalistic copium on my party but form early impressions of Space Marine 2's launch over the past few day;, it seems that rather than being a Darktide killer, SM2 might lead to more players picking up Darktide in a few months as the co-op experience seems a little thin on the ground but is also a well selling introduction to 40K.
I think the only issue with 'get all blessings' as a end game goal, is that it'd be easier for Ogryn, as they have fewer weapons as others. Of course the answer would be more weapons to Ogryn, bringing them up to par
4:33 A new mission could also be a part of this. _"Extract Archeotech."_ _Haedron has located some Archeotech within the depths of the hive city, retrieve it before the heretics desecrate it!_
You hit the nail on all of these points. Two more addition I would like to see is: 1) An after game report of the total amount of things done (damage, boss damage, hits/damage taken, etc.). I realize that this is already a mod, but Vermintide implemented some QoL mods in it as well. 2) A visual representation at the end of a match where you see what you had done to earn the rarity of the drop. Similar to Vermintide, I would like to see our drops be increase in rarity dependent on the difficulty, grimoires/scripts obtained, and monstrosities kills. This would also cut down a bit of the frustration factor when you get a shitty purple on an Auric Damnation.
to add to the “new combat encounters” thing: i wanna see ultrahorde modifiers, where instead of a t5 mission, it’s a t3 or t4 mission with absolutely JACKED spawnrates, favouring the smaller/less annoying enemies (or at least keeping the more annoying ones as the same) so you’d get the same(ish) difficulty, but you feel more powerful, instead of having a poxwalker take three swings to the face before dying.
In regards to the chaos wastes mode, way back when the game first released, dataminers found some files related to something called "Deep Hive" and that it was supposedly a gamemode.
As per usual, amazing content my friend. Can't wait to see more of your insight into the game. It's been extremely helpful for someone who jumped in via console drop.
I save resources by going to brunt, buy item rolls with stats of 370 and above, then roll. if you get 5 of those items with the stats you want, then upgrade them and hope for good blessings.
Damn...I want all of this! Great video! Unfortunate that Fatshark doesnt let us know, what they are thinking or planing on doing. I have pretty much everything done there is to do in Darktide regarding weapons, blessings, penances or missions and just grinding resources in anticipation of anything new starts to get really boring. Lots of these changes would really help with that. Hopefully Fatshark will soon anounce something exciting, but unfortunately I´m not so confident in that.
13:51 Kind of like a field officer; there could be a lore explanation. Maybe with the new season of the game, we get an explanation that the Moebians are getting desperate and thus promoting officers into higher positions to combat auric-level operatives by giving them more command over local forces, they are more able to combat our glorious squad of murder hobos.
I remember a prelaunch interview that talked about weapon bounties, it tasked you with going out and killing a certain enemy, I think it was a random named one kind of like captains that would spawn in a mission. your calibration reminded me of that.
I agree with everything you mention. Chaos Wastes would particularly increase my interest in playing for longer sessions. My biggest hope is a new character/class. I like the four we have but I also feel that I really want a completely new playstyle to freshen things up. An ad mech skitarii with ranger/vanguard/scitarius/Rustalker/infiltrater related skill tree options is my biggest hope (and if it’s something like I rattling I may genuinely be disappointed at first glance until I get over myself). That said I think more importantly is having changes as you mention to crafting, rng diminishment, more long term goals, and new game modes take precedent. But I’d still hope weaved in there would be a cool new playable class part of some major lore development. Also yea social things in the hub. I want to play space poker with friends like that one early trailer, some chill time waster while my friends change up builds or we use Darktide as an actual social space. Great video as always!
What about adressing the Grimoires issue? I don't know for any of you but i don't look for them anymore (yes, i did in the beginning). It's not worth the reward, so people simply avoid them and corruption is then a thing you don't want on your curios. I'd love to see Grims amping your chances of getting something like top tier weapons (or/and the condition to get a chance to get some) or (and?) tons of material, or revamping them by allowing for example the possession of both grims to trigger something of an infinite wave (chaos is drawn to you) with soft monsters or an enhanced one, or bosses to fight in the last part of the mission (yes, even assassination) etc...
The Red weapons should be just 2 things: they come with a third blocked perk within them (at max level, of course), and one of their stats should be more than 80%. The diamantine problem I think can be solved with an in-game trader, that could give you weapons, curios and/or blessings in exchange for resources. The weapon acquisition is fine, but they need DESPERATELY to rework Hadron, giving her a way of tampering with the weapon's stats, even if randomly, just keeping our perks and blessings. Finally, they could add an Tech-Accolite to the game, and bring in some meltas, grav-guns and bolt pistols (and maybe heavy options for our bonehead Ogryn to have fun with, like a heavy-bolter and a multi-melta)
Honestly I just find myself wishing a lot of things from Vermintide 2 were present in some way in Darktide. Getting 3 items on mission completion instead of 1 (and on level-up as well), curios and unlocked blessings being cross-character (and for blessings, cross-weapon where applicable), better crafting (getting to pick specific things is nice but I'd take the limitless rerolls from V2 just as happily) and material/money economy, etc. And honestly, it could have a bit less of a grind to get a character to max level since let's face it, that's when the game REALLY begins. I only started Darktide around last October, granted I've been on and off with playing it, but I still don't have a single one of my four characters at level 30 yet after around 100 hours (granted, my time is pretty much evenly split between Psyker, Veteran, and Zealot with a hint of Ogryn here and there, so poor time utilization on my part), whereas I was able to get one character well over 35 and the other four to around 20 within my first month of Vermintide 2 - which was also probably around 100 hours. I think a big part of the player retention issue that was going on for a while is just that the early game is such a long stretch before you get to the point you can do full builds with 30 talent points and get high-rating gear to craft to your whims that won't be getting sold and replaced after like 3 levels. Sure, those of us who are diehard fans of 40k or these kinds of horde shooters are going to stick with it, but more casual players and people who don't know a ton about 40k are mostly just here for the fun, and the early game is so damn rough in this one - even more than Vermintide, arguably. But other than all of that bitching and just wishing Darktide was more like it's golden boy older brother, I think seeing more weapons, and maybe further additions to the skill trees in lieu of careers (maybe even a 5th or 6th class, whatever they might be) would be super cool. More non-premium cosmetics and weapon skins that actually look good would be neat as well, whether unlocked through penances or with cold hard dockets. Even having the premium cosmetic shop fixed up so there's more than like 10 things for a given class at a time available would be nice (really I just want to get the Krieg outfits for my other two classes but same difference).
I love and agree with everything in the video, especially new weapons. I've basically setting into one, maybe two specific guns and melee weapons for each class and don't really change them out. And a small personal thing I would like is letting us change the name, and maybe gender, of our characters. I named my Psyker "Space-Wizard" as a joke back when the game launched, but I'm starting to get tired of seeing it. And I really don't want to have to grind out another Psyker just to change my name since I have gear I like.
If we get red weapons. I just need them to glow like the ones in Vermintide. I got to have the glow. As for what I want for Darktide: 1. a skirmish aboard the Morningstar. Similar to the final mission in Vermintide 1. Just without the heros getting kidnapped. I would like the whole traitor subplot thing to at least account for something. 2. the second hive city (that nobody wants to talk about...FOR SOME REASON) get revealed to be overrun by khornites/orks/genestealers/dark mechanicus/the cartel (they keep referencing them makes you wonder what happened to them besides what we think we know)/etc. (doesn't matter just choose a faction...hell i will fight tau if that is an option). Then they send us in first as recon like a special limited time mission and then slowly more missions open up in the second hive. 3. 3 new boss monsters: 1. a roaming demonhost (slightly weaker than the standard demonhost but this one walks/floats around a bit). 2. A chaos arco-flagellant. 3. Nurgle Demon complete with psyker powers 4. a battle with remnants of the cartel trying to usurp power amidst all the chaos happening on Atoma 5. Hive Gangers coming out of nowhere with an steel chair...
I did think it would be easy for FatShark to implement a mode similar to chaos waste where players have been accidently dropped in the middle of Atoma and need to fight their way through the hive to reach a new extraction point. As they did in Vermintide (and have done several times in Darktide already), they could easily recycle existing maps (or parts thereof) by adding minor tweaks. Defense mode is an even greater no-brainer for this game; with the last patches they added an actual arena pit that would be the perfect map for that. Just add a crowd scabs and dregs, the occasional champion barging in, a monster or two, and you have a perfect setting for a bunch of rejects to be put to death for the audience's entertainment.
We need way more maps, new classes, new enemies, and a ton of new unlock able cosmetics to grind for. Bs that they went paywall with 98% of their cosmetics. It’s 40k, there’s damn near endless cosmetics in this universe. You can have premium skins while also having a lot of skins and that are unlock able or give us a way to earn premium currency.
Personally I just want a melatonin gun for vet and zealot and a hand flamer for the zealot. Maybe the guard regiment we can unlock from using Aquila instead of plasteel maybe a storm bolter just to spice things up and why not a las-canon for the oygren and heavy flamer and heavy bolter. A cool feature for let’s say to make,in endless defense would be to be able to call in guardsmen to come and help you, so it’s not just you four but you also have guardsmen AI there to help you can position in certain places
I mostly want a ratling class option, warhammer DESPERATELY needs the more weird stuff in the setting to showup. And on that note, lady Ogryns are canon, undo the goofy gender locked class.
I really hope we can get new classes eventually, I can imagine a tech adept class or maybe even a Battle Sister class, and that gets me really excited :)
DUAL WEAPONS for Zealots, yes! I thought they were going to get it for the right hand side tree due to the illustration they used. And a boss/single player staff for Psyker, yes please.
I'm almost willing to bet we may see a "chaos wastes" addition to Darktide that's used to bridge the gap to the second hive city on Atoma Prime. Basically the wastes would be the outdoor terrain between Tertium and the second city. Might even have a level or levels that are part of that second city Pretty much agree with every idea proposed here. Would take Darktide from a good game to a great game
Screw new weapons, I want optics/sights for the weapons we already have! Iron sights just don't fit weapons like Hellbore or Recon lasguns, or headhunter autoguns!
With Helldivers 2 around the corner It will be a way better version of this game. Huge battles ,crazy mechanics...idk why i would play this over that anymore unless Fatshark drop some good content
I think the Assassinate missions are fine as it, injecting random unrelated busy work in a showdown feels strange to me. Now a new type of mission where you have to deal with mechanics during a fight would be interesting. But don't fiddle with something that already does it's job well "kill a big boss guy". Also, I really really want a power fist for my veteran.
Any mechanic that forces people into a playstyle they don’t like rarely goes over well. Melk works because people don’t have to try hard to finish contracts. The moment you force people to take weapons they potentially don’t like to use or don’t have a good version of is the moment you start to alienate players further. For example: I know tons of people who were Vermintide vets (including myself) who completely ignored the “Play X character” challenges. Additionally, while I think the return of Red weapons is a great idea, the grind and randomness in Vermintide 2 was absurd and the most hated aspect of high level play. The only thing that somewhat redeemed that system was the ability to break them down into dust. This would have to be handled carefully or it could just push more people away. More to grind for requires new and satisfying content to do it on, and I don’t think Fat Shark can balance both as they have yet to.
Regarding the material rewards per difficulty, I think the scaling needs to be flattened a bit. The new numbers you proposed still have Damnation earning 3 times the plasteel of Malice, which IMO is a problem because some players simply aren't good enough for Damnation and will either A) try to move into T5 before they're actually ready for it skill-wise to get more rewards, which frustrates the regular players by having to carry constantly, or B) they'll stay in T3/T4 and have to slowly grind out materials, making every failed crafting attempt that much more punishing. They made the right choice not giving more crafting materials in Auric missions, so the people you meet there are usually in it for the gameplay, not the rewards. Most people are naturally going to go up in difficulty for more fun and challenge as they become better at the game, so the rewards don't need to scale massively. I think it would be better if they kept the Damnation rewards baseline (i.e. use the number you suggested) and have the lower difficulties give ~75% the rewards of the next higher tier. So for example, if Damnation gave 1k plasteel, Heresy would give 750 plasteel. This would allow everyone to have their playtime rewarded and not provide such a strong incentive for people to rush into higher tiers before they're competent.
I'd personally like some more long ranged options for Ogryn. Maybe let us have the boltgun aswell or something, just.. No more grenade launcher, please. It's effective, yes. It's good, yes.. But after this long, it's boring, and I don't wanna be stuck with either that or a rock as my only options for longer than shotgun range. Also, give us some modifications to our weapons to choose between. Swap the bayonet on my shotgun for a torch for lights out maps maybe? Or let my veteran have the same bayonet the enemies carry on their lasguns for when I don't need a torch. Would also like it if projectiles were stopped by my shield. Had it happen a buncha times now that my friends will use me as cover when I'm deploying shield, and the projectile goes through me without damaging me, and then hits them on the other side of the shield. Like.. What?
I'd like to see some competitive content in Darktide like Gambit in Destiny 2 but without intrusion because here's no PvP. This should be quite refreshing and fun to play.
How about a fourth curio stat for materials only: up to, I don't know, 50% on high end ones? It can also be specific (plasteel or diamantine. How about backpacks that allows getting an ammo crate and a health crate? Or two of the same one? My son and I play duos with bots and to set them to not take all the healing and use weapons and curios (like vermintide 2) would be great! Ohh yea, green skins would be great... A versus mode (like Left for dead 2) would be fantastic.
My wishlist includes a new enemy faction, maybe something that could include a tyranid as a monster. And then to have a chain flail, chain hammer, and a chain glaive
I would love a new class maybe a skitarii focused on stims support and buff teammates maybe a combination of the veterans arsenal and the psyker melee weapons and maybe new weapons only for the skitarii and new enemy faction a genestesler cult it's a good choice
If i can get new weapons, game modes and revamped crafting this year id be happy. Even of they are dropping carnival level content a quarter or biquarterly id be happy
I feel like Orthus tried this with the bells
1) I would also like the ability to just check what background i gave my chars in the first place
2) consistant inventory for each class (if i create 2 psykers they both can access the same guns/trinkets)
So I could create a different new character without loosing all gear (wouldn't mind the leveling too much)
3) New enemy faction could also be a rival chaos cult (Tzeench maybe)
(chanting) Rat-lings! Rat-lings! RAT-LINGS!
Why does gender matter?. Youre either male of female. 🤷♂️
I wana be a tech adept, steal a void shield harness off one of those captains and laugh as enemy’s are sent flying when my shield breaks
It's so frustrating that this stuff isn't in the game already
For the love of god plasteel from bosses, with how long missions can take on damnation regularly, 25+ ish, trying a new weapon that you've wanted to requires a lot of play for the plasteel, often stopping me from playing because after a few missions I feel burnt out because of the lack of decent rewards, to the point I haven't opened the game in a couple of weeks because I know I wouldn't end up enjoying it at the end
And this is coming from a long time D2 player to put it into perspective
Yes. We should get a bunch of plasteel for bothering to kill a daemonhost.
@SordidusFellatiowtf are you blabbering about.
I feel you brother!
You'd probably get shot for that.)
Veteran medic support sub-class like the apothecary from Deathwing would be an interesting concept, but it might interfere with med item spawn rates, so it's probably not a good idea.
chaos wastes would be soooooo huge for me i really loved the game mode in vermintide
I needs to come back to keep people playing long term, needs to
@DD-zh4byit lacks the random upgrades
@DD-zh4by it's not, it's not a rogue like, and doesn't function as one. Chaos wastes is a fully rogue like gamemode
@DD-zh4by How? When I play a given mission, it is nearly identical every time. There is no build crafting along the way or weapon change-outs, nor is there any player agency to choose a path forward like CW in V2 has.
1) More story/lore getting told inside the game. Easiest way would be a mission intro like in Vermintide 2
"Go to silo cluster xx. The water cartel used to run this place untul the heretics backstabed them"
"This district (the desert one) had been abandond for quite some time, was a perfect place for the dregs to grow before this whole mess."
Or just a "book" with lore entries like in V1
2) QoL stuff.
- Inspect your character during mission
- callouts for DH/monster/ Yes/No/Help on the social wheel
- Hud for spectator (aka "you are dead")
- Add the information about player loadout + kick/mut options to the "Mission details" aka TAB key like V2 had
- auto-block when entering menu/typing
3) A use for the penance points, for example convert it to currency for the cosmetics store. The amount of penance points is very finite, so it won't bankrupt them.
4) Enemy psyker, either as special enemy, miniboss or a boss variant for assasination missions
5) A ratling class :p
6) A marketplace aka auctionhouse where players can sell weapons/trinkets to other players, either for credits or crafting material.
Prixing would be fixed like it is now, i.e:
- Brunt sells you for 100% weapon value (wp)
- brunt buys back for only 15% wp
- auction house gives you 60% wp, but only if a player buys it
(don't think they will do it, but would make the RNG weapon stats more bearable)
7) a mission with friendly AI like the PDF actually fighting or a demolisher tank firing it's guns/being animated
Generally surprised there is no Chimera / Tremor gun / heavy weapons team / Sentinal as setpieces anywhere, but loads of Leman Russ demolishers.
In general the lack of variaty in vehicles displayed:
Trikes, quads, Leman russ and (added with carnival) a "truck/apc?"
8) Ability to replay video sequences.
9) Ability to check what background a character has (what had been selected a char creation)
Aren’t we already being briefed on every deployment?
“You will scan for this pathogen”
“You will unalive that VIP”
“You will steal that very important tin can”
AND getting bits of the location’s lore?
Red weapons now my dream. Need to unlock true power.
Theres some red skins around 😊 gorka morka !!!!!
My wishlist is
- Give us all the weapons that Guard can use on tabletop, one a month, every month, for the game's entire remaining uptime, starting with hellguns/volley guns, then plasma pistols, then that nice 2h power broadsword that's been in the game files since day #1 of Beta 2 in Nov 2022, longlas, melta guns ffs
- Give us a way to buy the perks and blessings we want.
- Give us an easier way to get a "godroll" weapon with 375-380 stats in the stats we want them in. Maybe tie your weapon quality to your character level
- Give us an 'avoid player' function.
- Give us the option to make our characters from other incredibly famous planets like Valhalla, Armageddon, Ryza
- More characters. Skitarii at minimum. Hell, this is a ship of rejects, why aren't there any xenos on board? Xenos are often found on rogue trader ships or with inquisitorial retinues.
- Let us choose what mission to play, at what difficulty, with what modifiers
- Actually make it worthwhile to pick up Grims and Scrips, their reward is crap and barely merits sacrificing any other consumable to do so. Make them _worthwhile._
Still, it took them two full years to add a single unique new weapon to VT2 and the team at Fatshark has gotten significantly worse since then.
I've also seen those suggestions as well.. and I'm going to paste a response I gave to another comment about why locks can't be entirely removed:
"Without the locks we end up losing a core part of the game - the chase for weapons (after getting 1 Godroll, all other drops don't matter anymore since you can just tweak and swap out perks and blessings).
Use sheer quantity to overwhelm the lack of quality"
Hence why my proposed solution is to try and work with the limitations that Fatshark has imposed (RNG being necessary for longevity in their eyes)
You have just pointed out everything I could ever wanted from Darktide!
Keep on the good work, Ryken.
Quality of life improvements:
Faster load times
more cosmetics
more emotes
emote in game
weapon skins
fix strike team audio bugs
fix falling off map bug
add weapon scopes
different types of ammo
more end of game poses
did I mention faster load times..😂
game is great imo but I'd like to see a few of these
It takes me any where from 2 to 4 seconds to load on a series x.
The final weapon upgrade is indeed coming out at some point. It was datamined in the discord and will be called “Sainted.”
I think a great way to bring in new weapons, (you mentioned melta) add a new class. Skitarii type class would be perfect
I remember reading on Reddit that a disgraced Tech Adept would be a better way in since trying to work out how a Skitarii winds up in a cage on the bastion is harder to explain and a lowly disgraced Tech Adept being banished or something
Very good list. Fatshark should hurry up considering Helldivers 2 is just around the corner
heckdelvers 2 will be a great distraction to hold our attention for the time being, giving fatshark all the time they need to polish up some new updates.
Yeah I’m 100% jumping ship
I want to see a new game mode where two teams compete to see who can survive progressively harder waves longer or race through levels to see who can reach the end first with slower teams gaining the chance to spawn monstrosities or patrols on the team in the lead like a mario kart blue shell.
That would be hilariously amazing to have! No idea how/lore reason for having this (simulation maybe?) But I would love that!
Agree on most counts, but what I'm waiting for the most are more maps and enemies. More daemons and/or chaos cultist types (dark commune psykers/accursed cultists/torments) would spice things up. Psyker enemies would create a brand new challenge, as would Nurgling swarms - nothing that would break the lore, meaning we're still unlikely to be smacking down greater daemons or Mortarion's death guard😅
Not super-excited about Genestealers potentially being added.
With our Rejects talking of a "Second Hive City" it makes sense to set the Chaos Wastes mode there.
I want to be able to change the character name.
It's win-win cause it may promote cosmetic sales if you can change your name to match a new outfit.
Multi-Melta would be a rare yet crazy addition to Ogryn weapon choice
I hope they add everything you mentioned
more player character customisation options, I want to make some freakish abhumans. beastmen would be dope, give the ogryn a minotuar look. XP
But I think your ideas should come first idealy. As that assures longer health of the game.
i sorta wish there are secret and parkour like the good old V2 to find those tomes. Darktide finding a tome is like "oh it here...neat"
they can try to tell a story where you can find these tome in Darktide in specific location and what happened
Martyr Skull Relics being introduced and the puzzles for them been fun now, was able to figure out all of them so I can help people get them, and in return get a bonus in plasteel for the fun of it
My wish list would be:
- chaos wastes
- a more social Mourningstar
- red weapons
- new weapons
-> meltagun
-> plasma pistol
-> power fist
-> volley gun/hotshot lasgun
- improved crafting with less rng frustration like how you explained it
- more pennances/free cosmetics.
Something to make each mark have a lil special sauce instead of "This has a GOOD attack pattern for horde clear and single target, so it's good, and this one DOES NOT so it's bad"
also..... giving every weapon, with the exception of 'specialized' (the axes, for example) weapons, access to one crowd, and one single target, combo would be aces
Great suggestions Ryken. Hopefully we can get a tech adept class or a 5th class.
(From my thrilling spreadsheet comparing VT vs VT2 vs DT updates overtime)
++++++++++++
21/2/24 Patch #17: Power Sword tweaks, Daemonhosts leave after 1 death on all difficulties, Spectating HUD
16/4/24 Patch #18 "Path of Redemption": Penance Rework: Shrine Penitentax and Path of Redemption, Personality Scourge, New enemy: Dreg Tox Bomber, New condition: Pox Gas, Mission Puzzles, Heretical Idols, Mission type change. Talent rebalance, Bulwark and Rager rebalance

[[26/9/24 "Unlocked and Loaded" Itemisation rework, 1 new mission, shared weapons, blessings rework, weapon rebalance, more social options.]]
++++++++++++
It feels pretty sparse compared to the Good Times last year from August to December.
++++++++++++
8/8/23 "Into the Maelstrom" - Auric Mission board, Maelstrom missions, Accountwide resources.
3/10/23: Talent & Class Rework
14/11/23: Traitor's Curse part 1: New map zone and mission.
5/12/23: Traitor's Curse part 2 : New mission, Stimms, 10 new weapon variants, the Karnak Twins ambushes
13/12/23: The Orthus Offensive Special Assignment
++++++++++++
And we have got:
New penances with titles and cosmetics.
More plasteel from idols
More weapons: Bolt Pistol, Shock Mauls, Assault Shotguns, (two-handed!) Ogryn Picks - two of these were what you wanted.
And we are getting:.
Perk and blessing locks removed.
Weapons upgraded.
A more linear and reliable way of getting blessings
The ability to change weapons between variants within the same weapon family.
More use for diamantine.
More shared weapons.
I hope Unlocked and loaded does for itemisation what the class and talent rework did for that side of the game.
Likewise, it might be tribalistic copium on my party but form early impressions of Space Marine 2's launch over the past few day;, it seems that rather than being a Darktide killer, SM2 might lead to more players picking up Darktide in a few months as the co-op experience seems a little thin on the ground but is also a well selling introduction to 40K.
thank for reminding people about chaos wastes, thank you very much
I play darktide so much i sometimes forget how cool vernintide is
I think the only issue with 'get all blessings' as a end game goal, is that it'd be easier for Ogryn, as they have fewer weapons as others. Of course the answer would be more weapons to Ogryn, bringing them up to par

A new mission could also be a part of this.
_"Extract Archeotech."_
_Haedron has located some Archeotech within the depths of the hive city, retrieve it before the heretics desecrate it!_
You hit the nail on all of these points. Two more addition I would like to see is:
1) An after game report of the total amount of things done (damage, boss damage, hits/damage taken, etc.).
A lot of awesome and great ideas! Once again a truly great and objective video!
to add to the “new combat encounters” thing: i wanna see ultrahorde modifiers, where instead of a t5 mission, it’s a t3 or t4 mission with absolutely JACKED spawnrates, favouring the smaller/less annoying enemies (or at least keeping the more annoying ones as the same) so you’d get the same(ish) difficulty, but you feel more powerful, instead of having a poxwalker take three swings to the face before dying.
Here's a weapon that should be added: A Heavy Bolter for Ogryn (just like in Bolt Gun).
Also with more modes and more stuff we definitely need more pages for the talent trees, to save more variety of builds.
I love the weapons calibration missions.
really love the last three ideas, hope we see these in game someday, especially the chaos wastes mode for more replayability
I remember a prelaunch interview that talked about weapon bounties, it tasked you with going out and killing a certain enemy, I think it was a random named one kind of like captains that would spawn in a mission. your calibration reminded me of that.
great suggestions as always
Only thing i want is a sniper for vet. I already love stealth vet but imagine if he had a sniper rather than a lasgun
So many good ideas here. RIP my free time if only half of it gets realised
As for what I want for Darktide:
1. a skirmish aboard the Morningstar.
3. Nurgle Demon complete with psyker powers
4. a battle with remnants of the cartel trying to usurp power amidst all the chaos happening on Atoma
Grimoires and scriptures getting their rewards buffed. Especially grims. For health gouging the entire team you best be getting a buttload.
Oooh yes... I think about them so little I forgot to improve them with suggestions hahaha
Endless defend mode or survival mode makes so much sense for a game like darktide
Would absolutely love an endless defence mode
I want physical weapon modifications. Let me put an actual good sight on my Hellbore, or a flashlight on my shotgun.
I mostly want a ratling class option, warhammer DESPERATELY needs the more weird stuff in the setting to showup. And on that note, lady Ogryns are canon, undo the goofy gender locked class.
I honestly wouldn't mind upgrading mini bosses, like a lore accurate beast of nurgle would be fuckin sick
I really hope we can get new classes eventually, I can imagine a tech adept class or maybe even a Battle Sister class, and that gets me really excited :)
Tbf, Zealots already function like discount Battle Sisters, adding actual Sororitas would be redundant.
Might even have a level or levels that are part of that second city
Pretty much agree with every idea proposed here. Would take Darktide from a good game to a great game
Great list, I hope FS gives this some thought
only thing missing from this video is the rework of scriptures and grimores there needs to be some type of impact of picking them up
Screw new weapons, I want optics/sights for the weapons we already have!
Hope the Devs see this
I think the Assassinate missions are fine as it, injecting random unrelated busy work in a showdown feels strange to me. Now a new type of mission where you have to deal with mechanics during a fight would be interesting. But don't fiddle with something that already does it's job well "kill a big boss guy". Also, I really really want a power fist for my veteran.
a fellow "RUN THEM HANDS!" enjoyer
I’d love to see a death guard marine as a mini boss or assassination target.
I think the next mission type they will add is probably going to be a defense mission
Chaos wastes was incredible
lotsa good suggestions, hope fatshark implement most (hopefully all) of these
Regarding the material rewards per difficulty, I think the scaling needs to be flattened a bit.
Not them but genestealers
I would like to see twitch integration, chaos wastes/hulks, tech adept summons class
A lot of really good ideas here.
Red weapons and some revards for exp after 30lvl will be great
I would love a new class maybe a skitarii focused on stims support and buff teammates maybe a combination of the veterans arsenal and the psyker melee weapons and maybe new weapons only for the skitarii and new enemy faction a genestesler cult it's a good choice
Id like to get a new playable class eventually though I know that would take a bunch of work. But I think a mechanicus explorator could be fun.
If i can get new weapons, game modes and revamped crafting this year id be happy. Even of they are dropping carnival level content a quarter or biquarterly id be happy
ORKZ! ORKZ! ORKZ! ORKZ! ORKZ! ORKZ! ORKZ! ORKZ! ORKZ! ORKZ!
