There's a reason Christ often disappeared to pray in solace and why he told us to do the same. It's our personal time with God, a father bonding with his son.
Exactly. Jesus did BOTH - Jesus spent alone time with the Father AND time with others. Even if a man doesn't enjoy every aspect of being with others in the church congregation, he should be there at least once a week with his family and to fellowship with other saints. He can find alone time with just him and Jesus on some other day of the week. Besides, there's more going on at most churches than just the worship period including different types of Bible studies, the main sermon, and occasionally special functions.
@@LNR65 So sorry to hear that, a lot of churches have people that don't represent Christ how they should, mostly because they don't know him, best thing one can do is not follow a denomination for the sake of it, but rather follow Jesus, we are not saved by a denomination but because of what Jesus is and what he did, Peace. ♥️✝️🇺🇾
Many of you are attracted to Orthodoxy because it is just that "exotic" thing to do in the West. You guys are like those kids from highschool who were joining some "edgy" movement just to not be mainstream. The reality is that the countries where Orthodoxy is not something "exotic" and where it is the main religion are one of the most corrupt and savages countries (I am talking from a country which is 90% Orthodox). And this is not because the leaders are not Orthodox. Au contraire, the Church is hand in hand with the leaders and the leaders of the Orthodox Church are as corrupt as the politicians. I am entitled to say this because I am very close to the Orthodox Church and I know all the dirt they are doing besides posing as saints with those sad, but full of hypocisy faces. I was raised a Evangelical in a Orthodox country and all the things you guys mention that you like about Orthodoxy is actually also present in the Evangelical Church. So I tend to believe that you aren't really drawn by the Orthodoxy, you actually enjoy how the Eastern Europeans are seing the woshipping. Many of the people who were raised Protestants in Western countries and join the Orthodox Church are just drawn by the aspects, because all the arguments in favor of denying Sola Scriptura and follow tons of pagan traditions added in the "Holy Tradition" are just weak.
History of Orthodox Christianity - Beginnings This is a 3-part series that I found. It helped me a lot in understanding Christianity. I too was a Protestant and had opposition to some of the teachings and practices…. but I researched videos and articles that explained what it was I had issues with… gained understanding, and the more I learned the more I wanted to search. One thing that I understood is that we all know about Christianity and our roots can be traced back to what is now known as Orthodox Christianity. In Orthodoxy, I wholeheartedly believe that the fullness of God and the Church as we read about in Acts, is found. May God bless you and continue to reveal to you, the things you desire to know.
Ultimately if Orthodoxy isn't true then you have to come to the conclusion that either the Church fell away and needed reform or that truth is relative and anyone can be the church. Well the answer is neither. If the Church needs reform then Pentecost is false in that the Holy Spirit failed in guiding the church and that Christ lied when he said the gates of Hell would not prevail against the church. If truth is relative and anyone can be the church then there is no clear true church because as Saint Paul said the Church is the pillar of truth. Can truth change? No. What is truth? Christ. Is it true that Christ established a church (His body) on earth as a pillar of truth displaying Christ to the world in order for all of humanity to be saved? Yes. Then the True Church today must be like unto the one founded by Christ and through history and many other ways it is proven to be what we now call the Orthodox Church. This is ultimately what I had to accept as I learned more about Orthodoxy. May the Lord bless you Jon. :)
As a Catholic, this is the reason why I love Eucharistic Adoration so much. Pure silence in the presence of our Lord, just adoring Him, and praying in utter silence.
Growing up in an protestant church, the experience felt like alternating between a noisy concert and a highly sentimental therapy session each sunday. As a more stoic and meditative person, it didn't feel right at all. It's like trying to read a book by a busy intersection. I could never connect and i ended up leaving for over a decade until i found out about the old church. Started going to one when it's empty just to sit down and think about it and it was already an unique experience. The atmosphere and the art of it just transports you to another dimension, and that's when it finally clicked.
I didn't grow up in a protestant church but started following Christ in 2019 and started reading the bible and decided to go to a protestant church thinking this is the church that the bible promotes as many others but i rather would not go to church anymore and break the verse that says you must go and gather together because Jesus is coming quickly because this is what protestants will say to you but mormons probably say the same, it does not matter if the church is in error
The protestant church is a rock concert followed by a self help ted talk. One moment of clarity was when i mistakenly mistook a secular song for a Christian worship song on the radio and my wife corrected me. This happened with two other songs and I realized that protestant songs are very worldly
I am a Protestant who has been attending Divine Liturgy for the past 2 weeks and plan on attending this Sunday as well. I have been called to Orthodoxy and have been studying it a lot for about 6 months. I loved this video and thank you Father Moses for your insight. God bless you! Christ is Risen
I...I am blown away! SOMEBODY has FINALLY said what my Heart has SCREAMED for YEARS!!!! EXACTLY why I rejected evangelical churches! I was SICKENED by the oerformance that our church services have become ove r the last 50 years. Our, "leaders", lead congregations in the worship of CHURCH! They love, "church:, more than they love God. We have, "church", rather than worship the Living God 😢
Father Moses, this is exactly how I feel at my usual protestant church after attending divine liturgy. I can no longer pray there, sing worship songs, take communion...
@fathermosesmcpherson I had to leave. Still in the process of leaving. I didn't want to go last Sunday and my wife got pissed off. It isn't easy... But what has to be done has to be done...
2Ch 7:6 ISV The priests stood in waiting at their assigned places, along with the descendants of Levi who carried musical instruments used in service to the LORD that King David had made for giving thanks to the LORD-because his gracious love is eternal-whenever David, accompanied by priests sounding trumpets, offered praises while all of Israel stood in the assembly.
Ive been an orthodox inquirer for about a year now but l still go to a protestant chuch and i couldn't agree more. The pursuit of emotional connection and experiences through protestant worship is exhausting. Please pray for me and my family as we try to figure out our next steps.
We’ve all been there: not Orthodox, but no longer Protestant. Once your eyes are opened you can’t go back to Protestantism, so you realize you’re just delaying the inevitable.
It’s so rough if you’re a musician, instead of inner prayer you just end up analyzing chord extensions, getting possessed by groove, and following the impressive melodic ornamentation. The choral harmony of the Orthodox Church is a huge reason I felt at home and it took so much ease off of my music mind, and let me focus on God. The choir being intertwined with the call and response of the liturgy is way more cohesive than ”ok now the talking is done let’s turn it up in this joint”
As another musician, and a pk, I agree. It's a performance I have long chosen to no longer participate in. And now I can barely sit through one. Looking for a parish nearby so I can visit. God Bless you brother
@@arieltorresiii I used to be in different evangelical worship bands for many years. It often ended up being a superficial gig for me more than anything else. Also, I'd always analyze the music when I wasn't on the stage playing. There was no peace in any of that.
I'm a musician and I go to a Church of Christ, so strictly vocal with no instruments. I find myself getting so possessed with sight-reading the music off of the projector that I cant actually connect with the words. I often can't find songs in the hymnal that we just sang because I cant remember any of the words, only the harmonies and melodies. The lord put me here on this earth to make music, but music is my entire life, so I can't use it as a way to channel my connection with God.
I never grew up Protestant, but in my Novus Ordo Catholic upbringing I was dissatisfied with the music. It just seemed to be uninteresting pop music. It was great to sing along, but it wasn't spiritually fulfilling. Now as a chanter, I much prefer music in the Orthodox Church. The eight tones are formulaic, but still beautiful. The words are more the focus, and since there are formalized, and well-structured motifs, it becomes easy after a while to sing the hymns just like you're speaking out a prayer, and to connect with God and meditate on the words. It's still challenging if you're the one doing the chanting, especially if you're still learning like I am, but it gets better with time and it's so rewarding.
@@tristanperciful6609tristan, dear tristan, my husband and i grew up in the church of Christ, and we were received into the Orthodox Church about 20 years ago after being around it for some years before that. I sang in the choir at our Russian Church.. still do now at one closer to me. You get a capella singing, Holy Communion (the REAL one) at every Divine Liturgy. You have beautiful services. Prayers with a depth you never imagined.. and new friends who become your brothers and sisters in Christ to a greater depth than would have been possible before. You get a priest to whom you can learn to talk who counsels and guides you and isn't afraid of anything you confess to God before him.. And on and on.. You might eventually sing in the choir.. those who can sight read are great treasures to find. And there is a saying that those who sing pray twice. It is true.. Come to an Orthodox Church as soon as you are able.. ☦️💜⭐️📿⭐️💜☦️
Thank you Fr Moses. I'm a sensitive and introverted woman, and I too need silence and really appreciate being quiet in prayer. I'm not a fan of the loudness of protestant worship or that it sometimes feels like I'm at karaoke bar. I'm easily moved to tears though (sensitive) and the simple and yet profound prayers in the Orthodox Church often evoke an emotional response from me. Not by actions of a person through emotional manipulation, but from the Holy Spirit. I think that's one thing protestants haven't understood maybe. Emotions are not required for worship, but through worship, the Holy Spirit can and does move us emotionally. I hope to someday join the Orthodox Church, but I desire to do so with my husband (who is not inquiring) and our son. Please pray that our hearts would both be moved together towards the Orthodox Church.
I converted to Orthodoxy 5.5 years ago. My children were all baptized last year. My wife hasn’t made that decision for herself yet. But I pray for her and am thankful she isn’t against our children growing up in the Church. It takes a lot of time. And a lot of prayer. God bless ☦️
@NorthToSouthChannel When I first became interested in orthodoxy, I studied it/watched videos obsessively. I searched online for orthodox churches in my area, found one, laid out my church clothes and decided that's it! I'm going to liturgy! I went by myself since my husband wasn't interested. Well, the very first thing I noticed was the smell of incense and the dimmed lights, it felt other worldly, like I stepped into heaven. Liturgy was so beautiful, I wept and knew I was home. My husband notices that I'm a lot peaceful and happy. So, don't wait for your husband to join you, just go. You won't regret it.
Hey Father Moses, a brother of the Roman Catholic faith here. I seriously appreciate what you’re preaching here. Was pulled into the Protestant services you mention at one point. Pulled right back to the Holy Catholic. The ability to enter prayer and connect with the Lord is simply… I can’t describe it. Hahaha. Truly ethereal. God bless you Father and keep up the great work 🙏🏼
Now I see that at least my 12 year experience in the Hindu meditation group prepared me to sit still, turn within and seek God within. I’m so glad God allowed me to come into Holy Orthodoxy. Now I pursue stillness in Christ. Thank you Father!
I too went to a church service where the "worship" service was a rock concert with fog machines and lights. I had no idea it was going to be like this. Everything was so loud and distracting. I couldn't even worship, pray, or focus at all on God. I was very confused and felt betrayed. Everyone around me my family members and friends thought nothing of it and that it was awesome. I felt so isolated from everyone else in fact I could barely talk afterwards because I experienced something highly contrary to Christ. Now I have found the answer and have been researching Orthodoxy for two months. Thank you for this exquisite video describing this topic, Father Moses. May God give you even more blessings. :)
The sad part about many protestant churches these days, is that many people believe that what's missing is not the peace, the tradition, the atmosphere.... they think what they need is to be even more like a music festival. Half my family is protestand but yeah, i cannot join them in that anymore. If it is for me to walk the path alone for now, so be it.
Thank you Father Moses. I will join my local orthodox church to see what it's about. I pray that the holy spirit will continue to work through you, and you will continue to speak the truth in today's hedonistic world. Key takeaway: - Worship doesn't require emotion. Worship should be silence, and just being present in the moment. Such as going into the woods, cabin, and having no distractions nearby.
i’m not a man, but i believe women also would need to spend time in worship like this. last night i was praying and then for a second after yapping and yapping, i just asked for some peace. Then silence immediately started and my mind was just calm. i didn’t say a word and God didn’t either. it was not a silence to let me know that He had something to say, it was a silence where both Him and I could just stay still and do/say nothing. I rly like pop worship and it invokes a lot of emotions in me and i rly love it, but the peace that Orthodox Chants give you is just a whole nother thing for sure
“Performance” Man, you hit the nail on the head. My wife and I attended church when Praise and Worship, vice traditional hymns, first started. The songs were simple and easy to learn. A person could actually worship. Now, at many churches, the music is so loud it hurts my ears, they use smoke machines and the songs are so complicated I don’t enjoy singing. It has become a performance for musicians. Not much praise and worship going on IMO.
Thank you Fr Moses . Praying my Rosary helped me in difficult times overcoming alcoholism and I also pray my Jesus rope now because I feel drawn to orthodox ☦️🙏🏻
I attended divine liturgy for the first time yesterday. What you said is true. I’ve never felt such overwhelming peace before. I’m looking forward to attending the vigil service on Saturday. Thank you for making these videos Father Moses.
Courage 🙏🏿✝️
As a protestant, this is one of the the things I appreciate most about the Orthodox church. From my experience, they tend to approach worship with the proper attitude of humility and reverence. Sadly, many protestants mistake the "feel good" atmosphere of loud and/or sentimental music for worship when it's really just self gratification.
Thank you for this message father Moses. Reminds me of a quote by Marcus Aurelius. “The nearer a man comes to a calm mind, the closer he is to strength”.
Amen father. You literally put my thoughts and feelings about this into words. I am catholic, I also attend Protestant worship but most important thing is: I live in an orthodox country and I like the orthodox worship the most, for exactly the same reasons you told. It is always a divine delight for all senses. God bless you and all other people on their way to him.
The modern Christian, especially in the West, finds themselves with so many distractions. Such deceptive terrible things serve as obstacles to the faithful, including myself. Still in the struggle, I'm an Orthodox Inquirer on the path to the truth. Huge time of change in my life - starting a super serious job, overcoming my fear of driving, starting to exercise regularly, and planning to join the church and better my relationship with God in my life. Please pray for me, Father Moses!
The "mistake" at the beggining of the video was really awesome. It shows that you do not want to sell us an empty sermon. That's greatly appreciated, Father.
Father Moses you hit the nail on the head with this video. I grew up going to a Protestant church and it made prayer feel like a chore rather than a gift. Worship songs, communion prayer, it was all too loud to me. Once I started practicing prayer in silence, I truly felt like I came closer to God.
I disagree. Worship songs are not prayer, never have been. Worship is meant to be noisy, because the Bible says it should be. "Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth!" Psalms 100:1 "And David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod. 15 So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet." 2 Samuel 6:14-15 There's time for worship and there's time for prayer.
Bro I’m so happy I stumbled upon this video because at church I’d enter and hear this loud music blasting and it would seriously make me feel like walking out and praying and just coming back when the message starts 😭
I have never heard my inward thoughts as to why I have so much love and appreciation for the stillness and quietness of the Divine Services articulated in such a poignant way. Thank you for this, Father! Truly, He is risen!
Hello Father Moses, As a fairly energetic Protestant who has found worshipful harmony with light contemporary music, I certainly appreciate the idea of critically evaluating one's worship and focus and making sure it does not get lost. Even if the degrees are different for you and I, it is absolutely true that too much is too much. Sometimes more is less.
A Dutch theologian said;” The silence outside becomes the silence inside”. I truly feel this during adoration and when I will kneel and pray in the chapel. God bless all who find their truth in Christ.
Can't agree more. People get in trouble for saying that modern worship and even, in some cases, Christianity as a whole has been catered to femininity. It's good to hear that men understand the masculinity in Christ and how it relates to masculinity within ourselves.
Thank you Father Moses. I am enjoying your videos. I was raised catholic and then became atheist for years and then agnostic. I came back to the church 6 months ago and it has changed my life in so many beautiful ways. It’s not been easy coming back but it’s worth it. God bless you sir 💙 much love from England 🏴 x
father i want to let you know how much this video means to me, i grew up going to a lot of protestant churches and i remember everyone around me would be singing and praising and dancing and whatnot, and i never wanted to do this even when i was very young. i always likes just standing and listening, but i always felt bad about it because i felt like this was something wrong of me to do. after seeing this video i feel so much better because now i know it isn't wrong of me to want to be at peace,
I was baptized in the catholic church, I later grew up a protestant, my fiance is orthodox, we went to the local Russian orthodox church and I loved the serenity, I've always wanted to investigate the true church, we are now a few weeks away from our wedding and my protestant parents disagree with me being married in the orthodox church and attending it regularly. Shall we leave it in God's hands 🤗♥️I've chosen to worship the Lord wholeheartedly through the Orthodox church 🥰
My brother there's no salvation outside the catholic church... Christ went through his passion cruelly , do you think the catholic church ,his beloved bride wont similarly experience? Stay in Noah's ark ...
As any christian will tell you, it doesn't matter what church as long as it follows the bible. Many evangelical churches are not bad because they're evangelical but because many deviate from the bible. So far, I personally prefer catholicism even tho atm a protestant by default growing up in the US. Never really made anything official. But anyone telling you one or another denomination(not a specific church here and there, but denomination) is bad, is probably not christian. The fact the schism happened already shows how satan tries to separate the church. Historically, much can be debated who was at fault for creating the beef but in reality it shouldnt matter orthodox, catholic or protestant as long as the bible they read is exactly the same to the letter, to the dot. To even make the statement that orthodox is the only true church or that catholic is the only true church etc is already unbiblical. Choose the denomination that you feel helps you. It's the same way with priests. Some will help you better deal with problems than other priests. Same with church, some might fit you better, but to declare definitively that you shouldn't join orthodoxy is kinda weird. It's all christianity, choose which STYLE you like more. It's all the same house of god, just some rooms have different designs and colors.
Thank you, Father Moses. I love your videos so much, thanks for the knowledge and love. I am an Orthodox Christian from country Georgia, your content is always very interesting and useful for me on many topics, thank you for that.
I am Protestant - but this is how I usually pray. In isolation, with closed doors. I’ve been trying to spend longer periods of time in silence daily and it feels good. My church has the “noisy worship,” but we also have quiet prayer gatherings. I wish we had quiet prayer as part of regular service though, my hometown church had this and it was nice
Father Moses, I seem to have had the same exact experience when it comes to going from Protestantism to Orthodoxy and I just wanna say thank you for this video. I was able to resonate with every single word you said, especially when you said that man craves time with his Heavenly Father to accomplish everything together. I love this and I’m grateful I watched this video. God bless you 🙏🏼❤️✝️
Fr. Moses , I used to be a professional bodybuilder until I tore my bicep, my liver was failing and on the verge of divorce. Now four years later I am about to graduate from Oral Roberts University with a BA in Ministry and Leadership. Studying the early church lead me to orthodoxy and now I don’t know what to do as everything I thought I knew is being pulled up from under me . The verses that are resonating in my heart acts 2:24 jer 6:16 . I would love to be able to connect as I am in Texas to and chat as we share athletic background as well as a heart for ministry.
Thanks to all orthodox priests sharing their knowledge and wisdom.. Thanks to uploading your content to the internet we can hear your thoughts and feelings on different topics, educating your orthodox brothers and sisters. Thank you father Moses!
Bless me Fr. Moses! I quit roman catholicism because of the S.A. scandal happening very close to me, so I went on a 2 decade spiitual journey, looking for God in the wrong places. Some 8 years ago, my wife wanted me to attend to these evangelical churches and, to be honest (not disrespectful) I felt I was being signed for a fake emotional session, people were crying and moaning in a disengenous way that was repulsive to me, everybody was looking for an experience in a feminine way but not in the good sense. So, I dug deeper into church history as I was reading Brothers Karamazov on the side, and I saw with awe videos of the liturgy on youtube, it was so solemn and at the same time humble, the focus is not the choir or the priest but what was going on in the altar, it leads you to pay attention to the presence of God, men acted like men, women like women, there was no disturbance and people looked either in peace or in repentance and fear of the majesty of God. That was it for me! that's when I became a catechumen. Glory to God for all things!
Thank you for this. I've been trying to better think out of how to explain my interest and leaning towards Eastern Orthodoxy to my evangelical dispensationalist father. This helps. Please pray that we may both continue seeking the one true church, the true and full faith found in it and to find it.
I went to mass of my own will for the first time in almost 20 years. It was to a church that my coworker attends…and I was shocked at all the music and noise. It was just A LOT. I grew up going to Catholic Churches and my mom goes to Latin mass. I used to think they were boring but now I see why they were so silent in comparison. This Sunday I will go to a Catholic Church… I am an Orthodox inquirer but where I live the options are slim so it may take some time. Anyways, thank you for the video.
I appreciate you keeping in the part where you catch yourself not knowing if you're saying the right thing. Taking a moment, and then just smashing the rest of the video 😂 thanks for the messages. Recently converted from atheism and I'm loving all these different Christian UA-cam channels where I can get different perspectives from. This is definitely one of my favourite channels to recieve nourishment for my soul and mind. Thank you and much love from South Africa ❤❤❤ God bless you and keep up the good work👏 P.S. if you have any charitable projects that need funding, post a patreon link so people like me can contribute
Growing up in a protestant church here in germany, this is exactly how I feel everytime during service. I'm always sitting there waiting to go home. The music doesn't catch me at all.
This was the message i needed! I have always prayed with my emotions, my faith was emotion based and I've fallen off many times... I'm still hesitant to go to Christ...
I'm Roman Catholic by denomination and I always will be (hopefully). However, I agree with you completely. I just want to be in the presence of Lord, in silence just to know that He knows about everythink I'm struggle with. No singing, no predefined answers. Just stillness and presence. God bless you for this words of wisdom.
"Protestant Inquire," thanks Father Moses. I think that is how I would describe myself at this point. I have been raised Protestant all my life and have been a follower of Christ for about 15 years now. Thankfully I have been able to stay away from flashy mega-churches and been a part of a small, faithful group of believers for about 12 years. I have been deeply attracted to Liturgy for several years now. I have recently taken a sincere interest in the Orthodox Church and am planning to attend a Great Vesper next week and hopefully a Divine Liturgy in the near future.
After years within Protestant circles, I'm rediscovering the profound depth of the Orthodox Church. Its truths resonate deeply within me, unlike anything I've experienced before. Despite attempts to engage with Protestant congregations, I've found them lacking. There's an indescribable sense of something being "off", a feeling I've always struggled to articulate. In those environments, I've never felt a genuine connection to God. Now, my heart yearns for an AUTHENTIC encounter with my God, free from the performance and superficiality I've witnessed elsewhere. I seek a Father who guides with love and compassion, believing in my potential rather than highlighting my shortcomings at every turn. While some Protestant voices emphasize correction under the guise of love, it often feels overwhelmingly negative, overshadowing the very grace they claim to preach. But in Orthodox teachings, I encounter a profound sense of God's love and mercy. Whether through the words of monks or the demeanor of my priest, I feel enveloped in divine love. Their message of repentance is balanced with understanding, acknowledging the challenges of contemporary life. Their emphasis on Christ's mercy and patience resonates deeply with me. As I delve deeper into Orthodox theology, I'm drawn to its richness, steeped in tradition and the wisdom of saints. These are facets largely absent from Protestant discourse. The more I explore, the more I desire to fully embrace this faith tradition. Please pray for me to find what I am looking for.
I have to agree with you, Father. There is a joy that is found in good music, but for me, when I pray, the peace of quiet leads me to worship and to my Lord.
Thanks for this. I’ve moved away from home, my church and friends. I’m having a hard time finding the motivation to find a new one close by, or go home for the weekend. I think I’ll do that this next week.
Thank you for being a vessel of Christ to those without a fatherly figure like myself. This modern era has destroyed what it means to be a man, thank you for preserving it. Christ is risen!
I enjoyed your message. Thank you. You mentioned how you left the church because of how loud worship was. My church has that same problem. It’s a show more than the value of God. And I pray during their show. And I purposely pray to myself in this loud room, just because I know if I can pray with all this going around me I can pray through anything.
I do enjoy the silence, and being a protestant I do miss it a lot in the cults, at the same time, music and communion are in my opinion other kind of workship, king David was a very energetic and happy man at his workships, I think both are valid, I do enjoy something more calm, my wife enjoys something more heated up, but both are valid and different.
Father Moses, I'm a man who lost his connection to religion some time ago, but finding your channel makes me ponder coming back to it because your teachings are all about helping people live better lives and I am agreeing to it whole heartedly 😊😊😊
Im protestant, but every couple weeks i go to the tyler state park to be in a quiet place. Thats usually what refreshes me. I go to my church for sermons, i go to the park to pray.
Thank you for these words, Father. Like many others, I am also a Protestant inquiring into Orthodoxy, and this video, like many others you have made, is helping me. Also, about the part where you said you like lifting weights and listening to metal, I could tell from the first video I saw of you, haha.
Hi Father Moses. Just discovered your channel and I can relate to you a lot. Especially about noise at sports games (though I’m British so I prefer actual football😂). God bless you Father, please pray for me that I can become part of Christs Church.
I work construction and the sense of calm that I feel whenever the impact gun stops rattling a nut is so needed. I've learned to love the quiet. I started listening to a band called HolyName, that's fronted by former Sleeping Giant front man, Tommy Green. If it's possible to have a metal-backed worship band, this would be it. I highly recommend them.

Jesus said to go pray alone in your room.
This is what draws me in orthodoxy: quiet, calm and introspective meditation.

Hello Father Moses. I am currently protestant but looking for truth in the orthodox church! Pl ease pray for me for discernment. God bless you.
God bless you
History of Orthodox Christianity - Beginnings This is a 3-part series that I found.

Hey, you should consider reading the book 'Rock and Sand'. I haven't personally read it, but a couple of people have recommended it online.
Lol heavy on the concert part, my church has smoke machines 😂😂😂😂
@@Damiaanos21pray to our Lord Jesus Christ in the adoration chapel at your nearest Catholic ⛪️. God Bless.❤

Same thing happened to me! I couldn’t abide the fake “communion” in Protestantism when I knew what was happening in the Liturgy was REAL!
@fathermosesmcpherson I had to leave. Still in the process of leaving. I didn't want to go last Sunday and my wife got pissed off. It isn't easy... But what has to be done has to be done...
I feel the same way too. I can't handle singing the "worship" songs anymore which just pry on one's emotions. It isn't in spirit and truth.

Please share any of my content, or interviews, with him! And may God bless your journey!
@@fathermosesmcpherson I definitely will! Thank you very much.
I converted to Orthodoxy 5.5 years ago. My children were all baptized last year. My wife hasn’t made that decision for herself yet. But I pray for her and am thankful she isn’t against our children growing up in the Church. It takes a lot of time. And a lot of prayer.

@@FiremanKevin God bless you, thank you for sharing your experience. This is an encouragement to me and gives me hope.
God bless you Father and keep up the great work 🙏🏼
Father, you really know how to speak to men! The world needs more priests like you!
Now I see that at least my 12 year experience in the Hindu meditation group prepared me to sit still, turn within and seek God within. I’m so glad God allowed me to come into Holy Orthodoxy. Now I pursue stillness in Christ. Thank you Father!
Amen!
Key takeaway:
- Worship doesn't require emotion.
Thank you blessed Father Moses, after 30 years of choas i found peace in the orrhodox church and with the lord
I hope your comments mean that you have been able to attend some Orthodox Church services...☦️💜☦️
Thank you Fr Moses . Praying my Rosary helped me in difficult times overcoming alcoholism and I also pray my Jesus rope now because I feel drawn to orthodox ☦️🙏🏻
The Holy Mother is so wonderful. I pray the rosary often, and recite the Jesus Prayer throughout the day. Praise God!
I attended divine liturgy for the first time yesterday. What you said is true. I’ve never felt such overwhelming peace before. I’m looking forward to attending the vigil service on Saturday. Thank you for making these videos Father Moses.
this really formulated something that I have been wrestling with for a while. Thank you

Thank you for articulating these things that I have been feeling for many years. Greetings from Orthodox Greece 🇬🇷
I love what you said here Fr. Moses. St. Benedict tells us that if you cannot find God in your cell, you won't find him anywhere.
"Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth!" Psalms 100:1
"And David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.
15 So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet." 2 Samuel 6:14-15
There's time for worship and there's time for prayer.
I appreciate that you did not edit your pause to gather what you wanted to say.
Bro I’m so happy I stumbled upon this video because at church I’d enter and hear this loud music blasting and it would seriously make me feel like walking out and praying and just coming back when the message starts 😭
Touched my heart...Thank you Father
I have never heard my inward thoughts as to why I have so much love and appreciation for the stillness and quietness of the Divine Services articulated in such a poignant way. Thank you for this, Father! Truly, He is risen!
Hello Father Moses,
As a fairly energetic Protestant who has found worshipful harmony with light contemporary music, I certainly appreciate the idea of critically evaluating one's worship and focus and making sure it does not get lost. Even if the degrees are different for you and I, it is absolutely true that too much is too much. Sometimes more is less.

I was raised catholic and then became atheist for years and then agnostic. father i want to let you know how much this video means to me, i grew up going to a lot of protestant churches and i remember everyone around me would be singing and praising and dancing and whatnot, and i never wanted to do this even when i was very young. i always likes just standing and listening, but i always felt bad about it because i felt like this was something wrong of me to do. after seeing this video i feel so much better because now i know it isn't wrong of me to want to be at peace,
I was baptized in the catholic church, I later grew up a protestant, my fiance is orthodox, we went to the local Russian orthodox church and I loved the serenity, I've always wanted to investigate the true church, we are now a few weeks away from our wedding and my protestant parents disagree with me being married in the orthodox church and attending it regularly. Shall we leave it in God's hands 🤗♥️I've chosen to worship the Lord wholeheartedly through the Orthodox church 🥰
W bro ☦️‼️
This gave me answers I've wanted to find my whole life, thank you Father
Good word. I am learning this stillness and silence knowing that God hears my innermost thoughts
Speaking as a man, this is 110% spot on. Thank you Father.

Blessings from a Man are Equal to NOTHING.
Only Christ blesses.

Thank you Father for these videos. I am Protestant, reaching out to Orthodoxy. I have found out about a church where I will attend Divine Liturgy. 🙏🙏🙏
I hope you have been able to attend an Orthodox service...☦️
Hey man, I would just like to say thank you. Very motivational and gives me a lot of food for thought.
Thanks for this. I’ve moved away from home, my church and friends. I’m having a hard time finding the motivation to find a new one close by, or go home for the weekend. I think I’ll do that this next week.

I’ve never been able to express why I hate loud church. Thank you for this meditation, it expresses so clearly what I’ve experienced myself.
amen Thank you father for this video.

I'm big and have been for 2 years following Father Mari Emanuel... He helped me much as you my brother. Thank you
Mari is a heretic, not a Christian. Avoid him!
Im protestant, but every couple weeks i go to the tyler state park to be in a quiet place. Thats usually what refreshes me. I go to my church for sermons, i go to the park to pray.
I really love what you said and I relate so much.
Thank you for these words, Father. Like many others, I am also a Protestant inquiring into Orthodoxy, and this video, like many others you have made, is helping me. Also, about the part where you said you like lifting weights and listening to metal, I could tell from the first video I saw of you, haha.
This hit home right at the core of my heart.
Hi Father Moses. Just discovered your channel and I can relate to you a lot. Especially about noise at sports games (though I’m British so I prefer actual football😂). God bless you Father, please pray for me that I can become part of Christs Church.
Thank you father Moses!
