"We've been there and we'll be there again - and again - and again - and again." And we'll still laugh at ourselves! Thank you for this most beautifully inspiring talk, I really needed it!
Key Takeaways!!! 1. Mistrust your sense of urgency (do one thing at a time) 2. Limit your Chrono Pagers (or something that eats up your time) 3. Surround yourself with kindness (which starts from you)
Thank you for your great talk. An additional ADHD challenge for me has been motivation. My psychiatrist helped me understand how lack of motivation is another challenge that many persons, including myself, have to contend.
Thanks Catherine great wisdom I'm 61 and I've just been diagnosed my world has just come alive I couldn't be happier looking forward to hearing you again 😀
What a good set of advice and what a good choice to repeat them once more! Thank you so much for speaking up. Especially about the part of kindness and there being enough tough love
OMG - I'm laugh-crying. I literally just fired off an "upset email" and last night was INCREDIBLY disciplined and did not buy those cool yoga pants that I found through the FB rabbit hole ad.....
edited to add: just seconds after I typed the previous comment - I received a reply to my upset email, and a refund for the $50 erroneously charged to my account.... so - whilst it was emotion-laden and angry -it did work.... (still laughing at myself though)
Well yes but hyperfocus is generally an unproductive obsession with a nerdy topic or shopping that contributes little to nothing to our quality of life (actually it can be damaging whe you have other things to do)
There is a direct correlation between the amount of money that I spend on sunglasses and the amount of time that I retain them until they are lost or broken. The more expensive they are I may as well hand them to some stranger as I am walking out of the store. True facts.
Ms. Ellison, I have adhd and asperger's and didn't know until 41, so I feel ya. But I have some follow up questions. Is there a way we can have a dialogue?? I'd like to learn more and I have ideas I'd like to bounce off of you. Thank you so much, -D
Perfect!!! so helpful. BTW I think we CAN do two things simultaneously but must be strategic, like I can eat my food (already prepared) while I watch this. Sometimes it's fun to do stuff. We like challenges, right?
missed the 3rd point because of playing WoW while listening to the video. Then I was so happy to hear, that you would repeat the points... phased out right before point 3 again XD
hi katherine, i had a proper adhd meltdown yesterday after trying to build a website on a split screen...felt my brain combust! i wasdiagnosed with dyspraxia at 38....took until i was 50 to realise it was adhd none of my family believe me which hurts a lot contacted the nhs they sent me forms online to fill out and send back that was a year ago i failed at that too....now i want to know where to find other adults with adhd? thank you for being the first video i watched this morning that gives me hope! xxx
If advise from a less experienced Katherine is fine: I think the easiest way to find people with adhd is online, but at least where I live there are discussion groups where people with adhd can meet and get support from each other :) I have also noticed that people with adhd tend to get along pretty well, so one of your friends might also relate to similar things :)
There is a young lady who has a channel called How To ADHD. I’ve been following her for a while and enjoy her videos. I’m terrible with my follow through as well. 😂 My doctor told me to get a blood test about a month ago. I should probably do that. Bills paid on time? Pfft! Yeah right! I’m glad I have an understanding boss who is patient about me being late to work all the time. (I’m a hard worker when I am there)
This is what I mean...CHRONO PHAGERS: With my Asperger's I need to be bored. I don't know why, but that's how I bounce off executive paralysis. Do you have any experience with this?? Thanks, -D
Erm, many people take medication daily for the rest of their lives I personally try to have the essential vitamins and minerals and omega fatty acids from foods with me ALWAYS or as often as I can like if I have food to buy before anything else it will be fish AND avocados even to the point I have too much These things can and do help Also having an "escape plan" from the stresses of day to day life is absolutely essential because the brain doesnt have the ability to naturally pause reset itself in the same way as others does (which probably explains the break downs and imulsivity, its literally never off As well as escape distract, distractions are powerful drink green tea to get rid of toxins and make sure your body gets exercise in some form, use an air filter, get fresh air, stay warm and comfortable throughout the day, dont take it for granted just make effort to do it, its self care, happy body = happy mind. Stay hydrated and dont go hungry It can't swap your brain but it does allow you to cope and function far better than left to do its thing on its own Thats all I got for now Younger than her and asking myself the same thing
She is spot on-you may not experience ADHD the same way the speaker does. My son and I have many similar ADHD habits/traits but because we are each unique human beings we present and process differently.
I don’t think you watched the same video I did. Making fun of it? She wasn’t making fun of anything. She has accepted what she has and tells us to care and be kind to ourselves. Not sure what video you watched.

sleep, eat right, exercise... single task.. yea I had to listen to this twice....
Chrono Phagers
I think overwhelm is THE WORD when you have ADHD. Thanks for tips. X
Yes!!!
Thank you for your great talk. An additional ADHD challenge for me has been motivation. My psychiatrist helped me understand how lack of motivation is another challenge that many persons, including myself, have to contend.
Richard did your psychiatrist provide any suggestions on how to enhance your motivation?
That's from dopamine deficiency. All ADHDers are deficient in dopamine, the chemical that allows you to feel pleasure, satisfaction and motivation.
Great Talk. I wasn't diagnosed till aged 50, I empathise.
I wasn’t diagnosed until age 40
Thanks Catherine great wisdom I'm 61 and I've just been diagnosed my world has just come alive I couldn't be happier looking forward to hearing you again 😀
Love your use of language and kindness thanks J
What a good set of advice and what a good choice to repeat them once more! Thank you so much for speaking up. Especially about the part of kindness and there being enough tough love
Misturst your sense of urgency, this is fantastic advise.
Thank you so much! I have ADHD, and so needed this.
thank you especially for the comments on tough love :) x

Also a tip from the video: Try to do one thing at a time.
Great talk! Thank you form the heart ♥
What a beautiful post. Thank you Mary. 🙏🏻
wonderful speaker
First! This is so informative and helpful for me. Thank you for sharing this talk!
Well yes but hyperfocus is generally an unproductive obsession with a nerdy topic or shopping that contributes little to nothing to our quality of life (actually it can be damaging whe you have other things to do)
It depands on what makes You fall into it. The statemant above is more about what gives You pleasure, than about hyperfocus...
Love this! Thank you so much!
There is a direct correlation between the amount of money that I spend on sunglasses and the amount of time that I retain them until they are lost or broken. The more expensive they are I may as well hand them to some stranger as I am walking out of the store. True facts.
Seriously the sunglass bit was so spot on
Diagnosed at 50 years of age.
NOTE: Speaker dismisses hyperfocus. It is not always a benefit.

I'm supposed to be working right now! :D
This was great! Thanks!

Thank you 😊
I got a sign once that said "This is not a parking place."
Best video ❤
ADHDers' brain were wired differently, that's why our Attention Development History Differed(ADHD) from others.
I SO identify with the tape on the sticker...🤣
❤️ thank you

OMG. 10:41 - She called me out.
Wait… I thought all of us are capable of hyperfocus….
❤️
Acliyet duygunuzu güvenmeyin. Zaman öldüren şeyleri fark et. Çevreni nazik insanlarla doldur.
How do we fiix it?
Erm, many people take medication daily for the rest of their lives

No wisdom. Adhd sucks and hurts people badly who aren’t diagnosed early. Its ruined my life.
Come up
The plant pan phylogenetically vanish because lunchroom curiosly scream pro a lacking dipstick. slimy, changeable aries
are you serious? You sound like you are making this stuff up. It feels like you’re making this a joke. I’m disappointed
