- In this week's episode, Patrick and Stuart try to deal with the recent damage to the roof of the old vacherie/cow barn that will become a future holiday rental gîte, and they receive an offer of help from Jane and Tony from the UA-cam channel "Not Quite a Chateau DIY". Patrick's cousin Frauke visits and manages to strip wallpaper from multiple chateau rooms in just a few days. They also share the arrival of a recent purchase and some new information about the history of the chateau.
Join Patrick and Stuart on their journey to find a neglected, forgotten, or crumbling château in France, and then continue to follow them as they work on its restoration, rénovation, decoration, and furnishing. Along the way, they will also create and share videos on their preparation for having gîtes for guests, and an event venue in their chateau (wedding, birthday, anniversary, organization or club meetings, retreats, etc.).

I was in France for the first time in June and I met Jane and Tony at a street fair. They were the sweetest people. I told Jane how much I enjoyed her vlogs. What incredible hearts they have to help with the roof. I have to admit I held my breath a couple of times when Tony was on that roof. He is amazing!! It's wonderful to witness such kindness in the world.

Oh my, that roof! How fortunate you are to live in such a helpful community! So clever to use the tractor bucket as scaffold for the laddders. I'm glad you were able to close that hole before winds came, and that you had tiles on hand. Did I see a basketball hoop on the wall by the workshop? Fun to think of shooting hoops at the chateau. Great family, and you can’t miss Jane with her camera always at the ready to record. Such generous folks with their time and talents, seems that they are so often helping friends and they often help out Tony and Jane in return. Lots of good karma there. Hi Carol. We are really lucky, you are absolutely right. We try to find out how to incorporate the find under the wallpaper into the room. I have a tendency to laugh and see the humor in situations. Once I fell in our frozen yard. Whiplash and 3 broken ribs but I saved the cigarette and my mug…….. Had to laugh at that. We quit smoking years ago though. Hugs 🥰😘🥰

My heart is full. Life can be beautiful. Who could ask for anything more -- I know there are a couple of song titles in there but just a coincidence. Those are truly my own words. People who take the chateau challenge risk a lot but they are interesting and creative people. And they are not selfish because they know what it's like to be overwhelmed by some of the tasks -- and here are Jane and Tony and Paul stepping up to help a distant neighbour just because they can! Oh and thanks to neighbour Xavier for the ladder support too!

We are finally getting the farmhouse ready. However, after Christmas, we are planning on gutting the bathroom. we did what we could and it took, as always, longer then anticipated withe the summer flue and then the roof collapse..

Wow! Like a genie in a bottle, 3 genies appeared to mend the roof! Fantastic! I've watched Jane and Tony's vlog for about 2 years and yes, Tony is a wizard! What a joy they were able to lend a hand and fix this bothersome and untimely roof disaster! Bless them!!! Frauka is an angel indeed and what a joy to be able to spend time with an endearing aunt! Well done, Angel Frauka! Your tomato sauce looks divine! It will come in VERY handy this winter when then temps drop and you just want a cosy meal of pasta! I've been able to make pickles and salsa this summer and have crabapples and peaches to can next week! I lost out on the chokecherries this season.....they ripened early and the birds, deer, and bears had a feast! Luckily, I still have some of my chokecherry liquor left over from last year!!!! My thinking is when an act of kindness comes one's way, we may not return that directly back to the actual giver to us, but in the future, we will pass an act of kindness of something to someone else.
