- In this week's episode, Patrick and Stuart visit a shop that sells antiques in Issoudun. Patrick is finally able to make the missing curtains for the farmhouse gîte with the recent arrival of the long awaited toile de jouy fabric. They also visit two brocantes in one morning and come home with a large new addition for the chateau.
Join Patrick and Stuart on their journey to find a neglected, forgotten, or crumbling château in France, and then continue to follow them as they work on its restoration, rénovation, decoration, and furnishing. Along the way, they will also create and share videos on their preparation for having gîtes for guests, and an event venue in their chateau (wedding, birthday, anniversary, organization or club meetings, retreats, etc.).

Funny thing is Patrick, when you were carrying that beautiful trumo thing around, kind of like a purse on your shoulder, you could not tell it was heavy. Thoughts of winter already! I guess it will be a big job trying to figure out the heating. Still it will be a jice change from Chicago Winter's and I will think of you fondly while in my Northern Ontario winter

PS great find! Just an idea put some gold on first then paint and lightly sand off some of paint. The gold will show through but won’t overwhelm this stunning piece

Lovely work on the curtains, I’m so impressed. If this was my choice, I would be lining them, as ultra violet kills material patterns, this would help protect them. I love the look of the copper pots too, bringing home your spoils of the day is very exciting. Still lots of work yet to do but it’s all going to look marvellous. 🥰
Hi Laurann . I will line the curtains that are exposed to daily sunlight. the Farmhouse's shutter are closed most of the time. The copper pots are making me happy. Great way to cook. Leaving for our next brocante in about 8 hours.

love the curtains guys! Just a tip; when making curtains (hope you don't mind...) - each should be the width of the window so probably a double width to get them to hang properly. Of course they still look beautiful and if not drawn not a problem. Thankyou so much for the vlog again - great to see you so happy about your move 😁

You guys walked past a fainting couch, and I screamed at the screen, “stop!” so loud my cats jumped awake! Though the small child’s room upstairs might only fit one bed, a small fainting couch might fit by the window and you could actually accommodate two children, maybe three if they are small. I know you aren’t even close to doing anything with that room yet…..but I can’t help having visions for it!

Please consider stripping the trumeau to reveal the crispness of its carved detail blurred by the its paint before its new finish is applied. Love that you bought the beautifully carved white covered chair from the brocant you visited with your parents. Its a keeper.
We did consider but it is not woo, it’s plaster. Our art historian warned us that it might deteriorate. 😮. Love the chair too. Great carvings. 😘🥰😘

Morning Patrick & Stuart, after 2 and half hours, we are back on internet, darn these outages!!! I was just enjoying your video when blank went the screen. Oh well, my darling son is such a genius with the computer he set it all back right where I had to leave, I just exclaimed oh, oh, oh so I can just carry on. Those lamps decorated with the same fabric as you have, is that now not co-incidental or what?? I love when doing a project and everything comes together, it is such a blessing. The curtains are hanging beautifully, and I bet the chutney tasted great, when it is well cooked we can enjoy is sort of the same day, it is just for the flavours to develop. I baked a fruit Christmas cake, my husband pestered me until that cake was sliced, and then it was all over, each day we had slices and slices can't remember if I baked a second one. I do remember threatening him the years after, do no ask and do not touch. The fact is so much preparation and expense goes into the making of Festive treats, that's the only reason we hang on to it for a bit longer. Glad of you good finds at the brocante, the early bird catches the worm, so just plan and go for it. It sounds to me like you fellows are now settled in and taking each day making the best of it. Yes there are many trials and tribulations in life, but keep to yourself most of the time and avoid trouble. It is possible. Can't wait for the next video to see what is happening. Just remember wherever water is near a town the atmosphere is badly effected, it does become colder, take the good with the bad. Do take care, be alert kind regards.

The curtains look so pretty. You can look out of the window and see the heron from the print standing in the pond. But no thanks giving turkey. 🤣Our fig chutney has also been consumed, yummy
