  • This video will show you how to install and fit a recessed, concealed shower valve. We show you how to chase your pipes into the wall, how to chop out the wall to the right depth for your shower valve and how to successfully connect your water connections and pressure test.
I realise I forgot a few things (!) so 1. I forgot my gloves! 2. I forgot to show you how to square the shower valve, or use wood/packers to square it off. Check my Insta as there's a post there about it!

These showers installations are great !! Especially when the tiler and plasterer tell you the finished depth and then decide to change it so you can't get the valve on afterwards

Great tips! Am about to fit a recessed, concealed shower valve that combines a wall mounted bath spout, hand-held shower bit and overhead rain showerhead next week and it's great to see this covered. Much appreciated!

Thanks James, nice video mate. Have always hated installing these, especially when you find out the blocks you're working with are 3inch thick

Great Video its one of those jobs that may need more than basic DIY knowledge can be a challenge . I have done a few on older property double skin wall no cavity and few stud walls the old bricked houses are solid compared to new brick ones and I found rather that chassis out for taps it's quicker to go straight through first skin take a few bricks out and only chase pipes in neatly. Put a peace of ply or timber then expansion foam which will actually bond your taps in. I usually use foam on door liners and widows. Foam is used to speed working time and it bonds like shit when expanded some I know some companies use this stuff on door liners without screws. I still put the odd one or two. Great videos I have learned a few things from this guy. And he has a brilliant sense of humour

Thanks again for the video. Useful info as always they are a pain in the arse to fit. I always recommend exposed bar valves. I'm glad you mentioned, Loctite 577 and pressure testing. My most recent one I had in place for maybe a week and I would run the hot/cold head/hose for periods to make sure there were no leaks before I drylined the wall. I wouldn't install one without Loctite on those threads.

Hi James, thank you very much for yet another brilliant and utterly professional video. As a carpenter, I’d most likely be inclined to frame a 100mm wall rather than chase the breeze block, oh yes! And I’d probably think of few designs for resulting alcoves. Thanks a bunch mate. 👍

This is exactly the same as an install we did at the start of the week. Glad to hear someone else’s likes to foam them in, looks a feekin mess before it’s cut back mind! Everbuild exact gap works well 👍🏻.

For my shower valve I used the Bristan Descent kit. This was the shallowest valve I could find. Also bear in mind that on a brick wall you also have the extra thickness of the render and the tiles which can be as much as three centimetres.
