Hi, few pointers....You need to remove any cartridge before you weld and let the copper cool off ...plus I personally would go for a welded connection to the mixing box if available...that's leak free.

You right, but, remove cartridge only need if you will solder directly to the brass body inlet, in my way no necessary to remove it.

I did a Sunrise Shower looks similar.
I ran the pipe for the shower vertically and the threaded drop ear was too deep in the wall.
In the instructions they say the ear should be recessed .2 inches which is about 3/16 but if you run it
plumb from the valve with the valve in the proper position relative to the wall it is recessed like an inch.
If you tilt the pipe forward to get the drop ear to the proper depth then the bar that holds the shower head
    is tilted down.
I bent the pipe forward and then back to plumb.
Now the ear is the proper depth but the pipe is proud of the studs. Arrrgh!
I need a threaded thing with ears and screw holes that is straight and not an elbow but
only elbows at box stores and plumbing stores don't open til Monday. Arrrgh!
THere are male to female adapter things i could use to bring the pipe back into the wall
and the threads for the shower head arm out but not the preferred method.
Very good job with the torch. No burn marks on wall in tight spaces.
I was afraid to weld so close to the valve so i did the elbows a few inches farther away and took out
    the cartridge.
I got a smaller flame torch after watching you.
    Thanks for making this video.

    • @FixitAll
      @FixitAll  3 роки тому +1

@Joseph Bukalov

First what i do - assemble all/whole parts together on the valve - face plate, handle, knob and check where is they and how deep sit. Than add wall HardieBacker board thickness and tile thickness + 1/8 tile glue/mortar. Now you know how far to step the valve box from the studs. Done.

The installation was solid but what sux about this system is that the square housing where the cartridge installs doesn't rotate so you MUST ensure that is aligns with the tile direction once the tiles are installed over the plumbing and the estucheon plate is installed over the assembly. That seems very short sighted by this manufacturer. I had this installed in my home and it can't be fixed without ripping out the tile. That is totally unacceptable. I've designed a workaround but it requires that I get a custom estucheon plate created. ugh.

Usually manual book says the approximate distance to the finish surface. So, you must know the wall and tile thickness before installation of the valve box.

I don't know what to talk about here. How to spread the paste and how to solder? It makes no sense to give any dimensions because it is very individual when building and using different wall thicknesses and tiles.
