Thank you Sega, for bringing my beloved series again...thank you, mr Yu, for saving Shenmue, and bringing 3rd game (finally). Back in time, when I first time played Shenmue, I was merely 16 years old, maybe 17...now, I'm nearly 40, and eager to continue this beautiful experience. Shenmue is THE GAME OF MY LIFE. Thanks to Shenmue, I became interested in Japanese culture, thanks to Shenmue, I visited Japan several times, thanks to Shenmue, I used to live in Japan for few years, and finally - thanks to Shenmue, I have a close friends there. This game defined me as a gamer and as a human being.
Easily the two games that have had most impact on me. A big reason why I went to Hong Kong for exchange studies. Did walk around in Wan Chai, Man Mo temple, Kowloon and more, and later a trip to Guilin. I even met my wife to be during this time. I will longplay these as soon as I am done with Yakuza 0 on PC.

I was too young for Shenmue, but played through Shenmue 2 on the Xbox multiple times. So I'm excited to get to play through both games and relive it all.

This is in my top 5 games of all time. I loved how it captured the feel of Japan. Absolutely brilliant game.
The Dreamcast was soooo underrated!
For me this game wasn’t my most played but was the most iconic defining game of my lifetime…. I’m a 37 year old man, when I was 15/16 I bought this game with my work experience/trident money after about 2 years talking about it with my best friend. 20 years later and I’ve replayed them on Xbox but sadly my best friend passed away nearly 16 years ago….this game is biblical. It will never gain fans in today’s market as gaming today is very different from 20 years ago but I was lucky to appreciate this masterpiece built from a blank canvas rather than hashed out games of today….. the weather systems that are common now in most games, well that started right here, the attention to detail was sublime. I’m currently enjoying the yakuza series too, something about sega games that I hold special, sega has the ability to keep games fun and addictive if they work their magic
The music reminds me back in the old days, it is just unforgettable, a must buy game to me

The game is going to be revamped, not remade. It is intended, for the most part, to the same audience that played the game back when those graphics were top notch. Better late (& with original graphics) than never :)

nerO O I was making a joke about the realistic footage in the video, don't expect me to joke about Shenmue being bad because I like the game even if it's dated it still did what no other game at the time had accomplished and until this day we're reaping the benifits of what it brought to the game industry.

i didn't play shenmue because i could relate to the characters or was insanely immerserd into the world? i played it because of endless laughter of how robot-like everyone is

Shenmue 2 on Xbox came with Shenmue 1 as a Movie. I wonder if there will be a Shenmue 2 the Movie included with this or Shenmue 3.
TheMutation I'd say including the Shenmue 2 movie included in this edition would be pretty pointless lol but I highly doubt we'll see that with Shenmue 3, maybe we'll have some kind of recap with it but it is doubtful. Especially seeing that Shenmue 3 isn't being published by SEGA

That's because they ignorantly assumed Dreamcast uses the 1,33:1 (4:3) aspect ratio. In truth, it uses an atypical aspect ratio of 1,25:1, so the image should a bit narrower. It makes circles slightly oval, but that's how the games were designed for CRT images and analogue AV cables.

d3t didn't even port the DC version of Shenmue II. They've used the Xbox port instead. Even with Shenmue I, they've used the Xbox port of Shenmue II as a basis, instead of actually porting the DC version. That's why it has glitches, inaccurate hit boxes, broken MIDI playback, etc.
Then Denuvo fails and renders the PC version unplayable. #saveshenmueagain

If you're on the PC, don't worry.
Fans will do it, they already have done it for the Dreamcast which was probably harder to mod.

Remasters usually don't have huge deviations from the original game and when they do there is the danger that fans will not take well such move. This series and it's remaster is intended particularly for the fans, fans don't care if the graphics are exactly as they were in 2000.
Crash Bandicoot was a ground up remake not a remaster. And its a much more simple game to remake anyway. Shenmue is 1000times more complex.
Thats Imran Yusuf, loved seeing his standups on the Paramount comedy channel way back, As for Shenmue, glad its back and all but... Screw You Sega!. I spent 10 years begging, petitioning and visiting Shenmue Dojo hoping for a re-release on 360 and every year I get the rhetoric of Shenmue not being profitable or globally viable while every year you produce Yakuza, heck you even remade Yakuza 1 and 2 for just one market and localized later.
So many years later and all we get from you is a SHENMUE HD PORT?!!! of a Dreamcast game?!!! heck even crappy games like Halo and Fable respected their fans enough to update their graphics engine, so did Crash and Spyro Trilogy. I am not buying this on Day one or even Year Two. And I thought making more Sonic games were your worst decisions.

How many of the original Shenmue team are actually at Sega and able to do that job faithfully? Not enough is the answer, and Yakuza has it's own specialist development team, they have the resources for that. there simply aren't enough of the original Shenmue team to do a remake. hell we waited so long I'd wager some of them are dead.
Plus look at the likes of Resident Evil 2, looks cool, but also looks like far too many liberties taken with the source material and looks like it could possibly ruin great memories rather than reinvigorate them.
It's better this way.. The only time a remake was done good was the first Resident Evil and that was dangerously close to going too far with changes, while still was great, it took too many liberties and ended up not as good as the original. So why even bother if no one has ever made a remake better than the original?
iJezabella Media think was more a money thing and not wanting do a remake . Remastered means take original and make it look better from original source
I'm okay with 2000 era graphics, in fact I'm not sure how I would react if it was any other way - negatively I would think.
