Depends on how you play, so probably between 10 to 30 hours for each game, probably more if you want all collectibles. I highly suggest not to rush or skip cutscene. You have to be patient and take your time while playing Shenmue. The game is teaching you many things you could actually use in real life, (specially in Shenmue II, but I won't spoil, you'll understand while playing), each NPC is important and has its own lifestyle. It's not the type of game you want to rush, clearly. Take your time, talk to every NPC, get new clues, unlock hidden scenes (some happens during a specific day/hour or specific weather), train your moves, do some shopping, play darts or arcade games. Shenmue is special in its own way. Some will dislike it because it's slow-paced and other players will love this saga because it provides a unique experience. But you've probably noticed I am in the second group ^^ Price is quite cheap (2 games for like 30 euros), so you're not taking risks. Feel free to share your thoughts once you've played ! :D

Sega and Ys net should have collaborated. In the retail versions of shenmue 1,2 HD a note saying "Shenmue 3 2019" or something like that. And in Shenmue 3 a similiar note "Shenmue 1,2 HD out now"

DEAD_ORIGINAL I have a ps4 and I also have a dreamcast and shenmue 1 and 2, in addition to that I am also one of the backers of the shenmue 3 kickstarter campaign. Despite knowing the beneficts of this remaster on the ps4 what I really wanted was to play it shenmue on the go because I have already played both games a lot of times seated on the couch in front of the tv.

Why couldn’t they just fill the screen for the Shenmue 2 cutscenes? They’re letter boxed by the look of it so why not just enlarge it to fill the screen instead of of having to watch them in a pillar AND letter boxed aspect. Baffling.
They added them as a fan service and knew full well that a Sega Saturn under the TV in the house wasn't authentic. They included that because the Saturn was what the game was originally developed on.

Dubbing would require francophone voice actors and cost way more money than Sega was willing to pay for these ports. At least it is in french with subtitles.
Yeah, OG Dreamcast version used a black fog effect to mask the pop-in. Hopefully they patch that. One upgrade is they've swapped out the low poly Ryo used in the 70 man battle on Dreamcast, for the regular model.
Yes, it seems that way. The DC game uses a low-poly version of Ryo's model for this section, so it was probably too jarring in 1080p. However, the pop-up is inexcusable right now. They need to patch this. Let's hope we won't find out there's a ton of graphical downgrades like this one in the full games...
huh I don't remember them using a low-poly Ryo for the 70 man battle, he looked the same way he always did to me, but then again it's been a loooong time since I played the game
john doe He did have a low poly model of him in the 70 man battle. It's not that noticeable actually, at least to me, I didn't notice that much. Side by side you can really tell the difference though, his shoes especially stand out when side by side
Yeah, Dreamcast had framerate issues with so many characters on-screen, so they lowered the poly-count of Ryo's model for that section. It's nothing major, really. The major thing is that the distance fog effect is missing in this port. :/
