Hi Amanda :) your mini kit is lovely and good luck to all that take part in what i believe will be a lovely fun filled challenge. Thank you for sharing :)
I love love love mixed media and love these papers Amanda. Super excited for this one and inspired - but then you are always inspirational to me. Thanks a bunch.
Amanda, I Love your layout, also love this idea it is a great introduction to mix media. By providing the papers you give a choice to keep it simple but yet you could add something else from your stash. I am hoping I can complete one today in about an hour. I found this very inspirational. Also worth a mention is the other base layers can be almost anything if it is thinner paper just glue a few sheets together. You could also get away with doing mixed media in your glue book, I think. Thanks a bunch Hugs and Smiles
I've been looking forward to this challenge and can't wait to give it a try with the beautiful images you provided! Love how your page came out, it's just beautiful!!
Absolutely gorgeous page! Great inspiration to get started! Kinda nervous but going to go for it tomorrow! Thank you so much for sharing and the inspiration, take care x
I love this concept and simplicity of the overall process. While it reminds me of the memory dex projects, it seems simpler for some reason. So many artists seem to make things so complex and overwhelming with layer upon layer of things I often give up keep from trying to make anything. These art works are beautiful but for me are extremely frustrating and very difficult for me to do. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing this beautiful yet simple piece of artwork and project with us.
I am keeping it simple on purpose to help everyone figure it out remember start simple and once you get a hang of it then you can add more.. but simple is often just as good x
Amazing! Absolutely feeling inspired. Loving the fast forward with voice over to present your video - I often have to increase the playback speed on videos because content providers want to leave the video running at real time while they rip paper/glue paper/score paper/trim paper - UGH! - you have find the right blend of speed/instruction: thank you just for that! But, enormous thank you for incorporating a good number of techniques for us (scrimping) beginners to get to grips with. Just one question: would modge podge be a good substitute for matte medium? Or even watered down PVA? TIA x
I personally do not recommend modge podge.. it is very hard to even stamp over the top of it and I find it sticky even when dry. You can use it if yoi are not going to layer or glue anything over top of it. You can use watered down pva but just be careful how much you use as the water will wrinkle your project.. this is why they invented matt and gel medium ha ha it just helps us x
I really enjoyed this. I have done mixed media but feel very inhibited when I do it. I guess I just am leery of sticking my neck out & doing something unexpected.
Just go for it what is the worst that can happen ?.. you don't like your page so you do another.. this time you know not to do what you did on the last one.. each time you are learning.. remember it is just paper. have fun x
Going to follow along. This is new for me and something I wanted to do but didn’t know where to start. Thank you so much for doing this…very excited! ❤️ Question…what was the pencil used on the butterflies? I didn’t quite catch that. Thank you!
What is that green mat that you used? At first I thought it was just a piece of paper when you were gluing, but when you put the medium on it, then wiped it,,,, I’m thinking it may be a silicone sheet?
Can you tell us again the type of pencils you are using with more of a description. Is it water color pencils? And maybe some name brands so I can look into them?
Inktense. They are pigment ink pencils not watercolour but you use them like watercolour pencils as in they react with water. However once dry they no longer react with water as watercolours do. This enables multi layering of different colours. They are expensive I use them because I got them less than half price. You can just use any watercolour pencils or paint instead x
@Scrimpingmommy water color pencils... I have them but don't know how to use them. In case you don't remember me, I'm the one that said I'm new to all of this. I only know how to do glue books,etc.. but I'm scared to do the color water pencils. Can you teach us that too plz? 🥰
@@AndreaSooHill429 So get yourself a piece of water colour paper... try out your pencils start by just drawing a simple line .. dont like dig into the paper though ha ha .. then dip a brush in clean water and smoosh it into the pencil see what happens... less water is more strong colour.. more water means more movement and the colour goes lighter. Experiment have a play with your supplies to see what they do. I will talk about it in my next mixed media video xx

@@Scrimpingmommy So right! Thanks
Hi Amanda, looks amazing. Could you use Mod podge instead of a mat medium? X
Yes you can but just be mindful that once that is down it is hard to add other layers over it unlike matt medium x
Ok thank you so much for your help, so much appreciated. I've learned so much on your channel. Xx 💕@Scrimpingmommy

Just an outline pecil I had in my collection you could use anything just dont go for Black as it will be too vivid you want a dark Grey x
@, thanks!
I think she used Inktense by Derwent.

Yes you are right it is a silicone mat x
Do you ever use mat medium on journal covers?
Yeah I have done x
Ben and Dawn at corner House project recommended your channel.
never !! really how cool is that !
