I knew it was gonna be Angelo's before even watching the video. That cheesesteak is heads-and-shoulders above any other joint in Philly, and their pizza is top tier too.
Been to every spot you visited (plus about 20 more) and gotta say very fair assessments of all based on my experiences. 1) Angelo’s is simply the goat. Homemade bread, perfect ratios, attention to detail etc. Danny just gets it. 2) Cafe Carmela is very close to Angelo’s but the bread is the difference maker. Phenomenal Italian food across the board though! 3) John’s Roast Pork, always delicious but kinda handicaps himself with cheese options and sometimes the ratio is meat heavy (not that that’s a horrible thing lol) Honorable Mention: Donkey’s in Camden. Technically not Philly but this sandwich beyond memorable
Angelo’s is better with cooper sharp not whiz. Mistake in this video is doing whiz. Most steaks are better with sharp provolone or cooper sharp. Lillo’s tomato pies in hainesport NJ is solid also

Got a new one. It is Ochinilis Steaks in Middletown Delaware. It is about 1 hour south of Philly. Absolutely excellent. Huge. Steak cut into small tasty strips. Cooper Sharp throughout. Love the chewy bread. Jeff
@benholler1389 go get two cheesesteaks and get 1 with whiz and 1 with any other cheese, then take them out of the package and wait 5 minutes.... 1 of them has cheese that's still liquid with meat that's in separate slices, and 1 is a cheesebrick on a roll. Your stomach isn't warm enough to melt the cheese either so after you eat it, one digests much easier than the other. Cheese whiz doesn't have to be poor quality, it's dehydrated cheddar reconstituted in a bechamel sauce so the quality of the ingredients can be excellent, but it's all about the chemistry that allows it to stay a liquid, because it's a sauce laden with cheese and not just solid cheese. The meat is coated in a cheese sauce, not meat with cheese on top like a hamburger. Go to Joe's steak and soda in fishtown, get a whiz wit, crab fry, and chocolate egg cream then you'll know the truth.
Love this city, born and raised,NO OTHER PLACE can do cheesesteak like PHILLY! Coming up in the 90s though, I just don’t recall eating a cheesesteak with sesame seeds on the roll😬,and it wasn’t until I got older did I realize I liked American over whiz 😂, love this city!
One of my favorite things about Philly is the absolute aggression over who has the best cheesesteaks, and how no townie will EVER choose Pat's or Geno's
Jim's is one of my favorites too. I go to the one in Springfield. Living in Delco a new spot called Prime Steaks opened in Glenolden and they do them on the seeded bun and it's so delicious 😋
I miss Delaney. But more than that, I miss the format of his version, I thought that worked better. The first 4 minutes is kind of rough cause we're just blitzing through everything without saying much about any one sandwich... there's gotta be another way to show that you guys went to all those places. That being said, you guys have some huge shoes to fill, and I have to give props for the courage to go for it. Delaney's first video was the roughest one of the series too, so I guess we should keep that in mind.

I used to drive a semi truck and I delivered in Philly one day. When I asked the Lyft driver for the best Philly in Philly he took me to the dalessandros and we each got one. They opened at 10am and we got there just a few minutes after open and there was already a line out the door. I got onions and whiz. First time with whiz. Greatest philly experience so far in my life. Thank you unnamed Lyft driver.
I love Sonny's and their grilled cheese steak sandwich is great! But I don't order onions. I also love Angelo's! I wish they were open on Monday's I would be there more often. 😊
Lived in awesome Philly for 18 years. Best times and friends of my life. Dalessandro's Steaks, or Tomy Luke's. Ok, maybe Johns roast pork. Can't go wrong, other then going to Pat's or Geno's. They only serve one real purpose if you live in CC/Philly, 24 hours, open. When you and your buds are drunk as F' and the bars are closed..... Walk, or cab it to Geno's. You'll hate yourself when you wake up however..
R&S taste of Philly is a hidden gem in Ashton road in NE Philly. They use ribeye with cooper sharp on a seeded roll as well. Rated 5* for quality and service.

How did you find parking at all these spots? That's equally as impressive as the task of eating all those cheesesteaks.
