Bro appreciate you opening up about your family and how things worked out. I hope you keep doing well.
This vlog was so heart warming. Mitsuki is so cute, the joy in her face while fishing and the entire family enjoying the meals..🫶🏼 priceless. Hope you & jocelyn enjoy much more of your stay in Japan, Taku!
Imagine coming to the comments thinking you know how to butcher fish better than Taku.
Ikr? Trying to tell a pro sushi chef how to do his job 😂
Bunch of karens of internet 😂😂
Imagine getting heated over internet comments 😂

Made you click lol
You gotta be a 70 year old sushi master or sumn lmao
@sonofabraham4094 he was saying in the video that people have commented telling him he should use a filet knife instead of his gyuto for fileting fish.
I’m so impressed with your skills and what you brought to the table. As a half Japanese and cook, what you did was impressive. There aren’t many folks at the sushi level that would have produced what you did. Kudos from AZ.
You’ll look back on this trip for the rest of your life friend 🫡 happy you get these moments with family
What about the two years he was back?
First time I heard about your family situation from Japan to the US. Thanks for sharing and great to see you enjoying your time with your dad's family in the Japan.
Hey Taku! Just wanted to say that because of you guys' amazing videos, I've just recently started fishing myself and I'm loving it! Thanks for all the great videos :)
I could watch you break down fish all day. Your skill is a beautiful thing.
Such great memories , reminds me of going fishing with my grandfather in Turkiye when I was young and we would visit from Canada. I had the bes time waking up at 4am going down to the row boat and rowing ou in the ocean and jigging of mackerel and picking mussels from rock out in the ocean close to shore. Kind of got a bi emotional watching this and seeing its. Thanks for sharing .
Your sister is so cute! I love seeing your family on the channel, I'm glad you got to visit them. Hope you and Jocelyn enjoy your trip in Japan!
It was interesting to learn more about your family. I've been watching your channel on and off since you had 50k subs (brought by a collab with Hiro - diaries of a master sushi chef), but recently a lot more while recovering from a medical procedure. I love to cook for my family and it's just awesome to see a family sit down, interact, and have a good meal together. I like how you made it special with all the plating and chef tricks.. (hopefully not just for the youtube).
Edit: And another thing. Your sister will remember this fish you prepared so nicely. Because she caught it and it was made into something really tasty. When I was a kid, I caught some really small fish that most people would release as they are just all bone. But my mom fried them up, and I thought it was the best thing ever. 25 years later and I am still very fond of that memory.
Love how your sister enjoyed it! It's always great when the kids enjoy the cooking, everyone loves seeing kids eat up.
So cool to see you bonding with your family while doing something you all love and exploring the motherland 🇯🇵
Also... I ❤ the small knife bag I got 🙏 I feel like my knife skills have significantly improved with my purchase 😂
I didn't know they added a small knife bag....I might have to add that to my collection. LOL
I LOOVE the regular knife bag. Any time I head to the coast for a fishing trip, that goes along with my weapons.
It's so refreshing to watch. The fish are so beautiful and pretty over there. Was really enjoyable to watch.
Your dads love for fishing runs through and mitsuki’s blood. So awesome to see her following your footsteps and I know it’s making your pops spend quality time with her too
Sitting here with my daughter who I don't always get to see. Thanks for spending time with your dad. It must have been excruciatingly painfull for them to lose eachother like that.
Great episode as always, Taku. You've got a beautiful family.
I just wish I had your knives! Maybe give us a knife sharpening class someday ? Also? If possible I really love seeing how you process the entire fish in videos. From bleeding out to table. I know you’ve done it in the past but I feel it’s a huge part of “Catch and cook”. Cheers, Taku. I absolutely love your videos.
Your very lucky to hang out with your father and family. ! And cook for them too. Good times brother. !!
Thank you for including us in your beautiful family setting; you guys never fail to create a feeling of inclusion that you just don't get in other channels. I feel like I'm right there with you and smiling along with you and your family, and that is something that is irreplaceable
So happy to see someone cleaning fish the way I do. I worked as a sushi chef for 10 years and I was trained by Japanese chefs. I love to cut fish the same way you do. Debas and chef knives rule.
Bro best videos ever. I learn something on every video. And I've been fishing and spearfishing my whole life in hawaii. Always looking forward to what you've got in the next video
thank you for releasing this after probably the hardest final I have ever taken it is very calming
nice to see you with family. Jocelyn looks happier in this video too
Incredible presentation for your family... Bravo... Greetings from Wyoming... Your little sister seems so sweet and intelligent..
I’d say the Japanese are probably the pinnacle of fishing cultures. A lot of different people groups have some fishing techniques we can all learn from, but the Japanese know how to make masterpieces out of just a few materials and it is always awesome to watch and marvel at it all
This is one of those channels that I have such respect for that I click the ♥️ button BEFORE I watch the video. Thank you for sharing your family’s story about how you came to the US. I feel sad for what happened to your dad and that it spit your family up.
Every time I hear that bell tone it reminds me of my childhood. Growing up in Hawaii with all the cultures intermingling.... The Japanese side was dominant. Awesome vid Taku.
Man taku is the real deal.
I don't know how to cook, so i am blown away by the variety of dishes that he cooked up and the different techniques that he used to prepare the fish. That just shows his prowess.
Japan looks awesome nothing can beat fresh seafood
The presentation of the large platter adorned with the blue finned fish posed so energetically was a real high point. A family meal is great in any language! Thanks!
Bless you ,for being a respectful person to cook for your Dad and everyone. I enjoyed watching every second of it!
What a life! Heaven on Earth. Doing what you love with the family is priceless! Always looking forward to your content. Have a wonderful time
Great to see and meet your family that are in Japan. Love the obvious bond your father and little so adorable sister have. Thanks for letting us join your family on this journey Taku. You're da bomb bro.
Tako you’re simply amazing buddy what talent you carry with you around the world !!!
It amazes me every time you plate a dish. Your skill is inspiring! Ganbare Taku Sensei!
Awesome watching you enjoy a meal with loved ones. 🙏🏻❤
Great story, thanks for sharing! Love your channel.

His knowledge and culinary skills are so vast! I can't imagine learning all that and mastering everything. Very impressive!
The scenery is so beautiful there, as is your little sister. The fish preparation was also very well done.
I am so happy for you that you had an opportunity to visit with your family.... It's most important to be with family....
Beautiful family, Taku, awesome dinner.
Great video Taku! It’s awesome that we’ve been able to spend time with your family in Japan. The meal you prepared looked beyond delicious. And no doubt that your little sister has stolen many hearts, she is very cute.
Thanks for sharing!

Crazy to think 4 years have pasted. Started at ~30k or something. Remember when you announced full time UA-cam. A great journey you and Jocelyn have had. Would love to visit Japan...
Taku the meal prepared for the family looks absolutely amazing and I am sure that it was delicious 😋, and like nearly every video of yours I really enjoyed this episode very much.👏👏👏
I appreciate your effort. This was a great but a little long. Thank you and keep up the good life
Fascinating. Thank you for sharing😀
Amazing content as always. Planning to go to Japan next year with my wife and kids can’t wait to explore ❤️
Loved how you showed how to do a salt brine, I have always wondered how it was done without water. I always seem to use too much salt with I do salmon, and it looks like you just sprinkle a little on both sides and let it sit a bit
I now am starting to see, feel, and understand the disciplines of Japan...thanks...!!!
Great episode guys!!
That sounds like a hard thing to go through as a child. Thanks for sharing that and your special time with your family with us. It always blows me away how you're able to plate so beautifully!
Nice seeing you being a big brother to your little sister. Great day with family on the water!
I am very happy to follow you on a fishing trip and a very beautiful place. and the way you process the fish is extraordinary
Wonderful video!!! I love it when you're in Japan with your family ❤
Lots of mmming at the table is always a good sign that the food is appreciated , well done Taku.
I've really liked these videos with your family, it's nice to hear you speaking Japanese with her. I hope you get to visit them again sooner than 4 years from now
There are over 100 unmanned squid boat catchers with their bright lights off of Hong Kong waters, May is the start of squid🦑 season.
What a wonderful time with the family. Thanks for bringing us along!
Love seeing you at home in your culture and w your family!!
Loving this Japanese series!
As always, I have craving every time I watch your videos
It was really great watching you cook for your family. Looking forward to more
buddy of mine told me about your channel after he went to the restaurant you worked at shortly before you left if im not mistaken, been a long time lurker ever since. one of like 2 channels who’s videos I watch entirely through. been fishing my whole life and you have inspired me to get into cooking as well. love your channel and the japan content.
TIGHT LINES🎣
🌴 Hey y’all, I gotta say as much as I love all the places and adventures you two took us to I absolutely love it when your in Japan, there’s something like I see you more in your element you seem in tune with everything , the family being there and Jocelyn melts right in with you , the fish and plating were bad azz, you should do a vid on Japanese knives while your there if you can, inflatable boats and fishing hooks 😳scary ! 👊🏼✌🏼
Knife is life! im just a simple person who loves to cook and really love japanese food.. It is always my dream of having a real japanese knife.. Big fan here from Philippines..
Thank you for the explanation in the beginning of the video. When you get to know someone you are always curious about these kinds of things but of course no one wants to ask because it is considered rude. It is strange to be friends with someone however and not really understand their background. Obviously we arent "friends" in the literal sense but you are still part of so many people's lives if they sub to and follow your videos, so not having a general idea of who is who and what is what can be kind of frustrating for people like dating someone when you know nothing about their family or past. You feel like an outsider, a voyeur in a way, that dissipates over time as you learn more about someone. Without context it is very impersonal and people watch youtube as opposed to mainstream media and scripted shows because they want a personal experience.
Nice video Taku....I love all the food prep you did. I give you a 9 on the Taku Beer Chug Meter it was one of your better ones
So love your videos I'm addicted ❤ Nice to see your family 😊🤗🥰
She is damned KAWAII though and she's already got the fishing bug. Plus I am already subbed her channel and seeing her grow. Hope you go home more often for trips to see Japan fishing.
What a awesome story! I can only image how hard it was for you and your fam during those times. Glad to see your successful now. Rock on bro!
I love you and Jocelyn! I love your videos and look forward to your next one.❤
Hi Taku , its awesome to share footage with your famiy in Japan and them been cool about it considering the culture , I'm planning to visit next year and go to Hokkaido to Okinawa in two weeks, I love fishing, hopefully I have time for it and try locally . Cheers love your videos and content from Canada [ from a Bulgarian born] :D
Brooo you’re food is top of the bill, great work taku.
Great vid buddy !!! I hope to visit Japan 🇯🇵 soon beautiful country!!!
Love the videos guys... just wanted to share a dish I'd not seen on your videos, but it is wonderful.
Salmon ceviche' ! Came back from Alaska with 50 lbs of Halibut & 50 lbs of salmon and decided to try out the salmon in a ceviche'
dish. Everyone needs to know that salmon have parasites so very important to understand how to verify your fish is clean before marinating in lemon or lime juice !
Salmon Ceviche
2 pounds fresh, deboned Salmon fillets, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
1/2 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (or)
1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/2 red onion, finely diced
1 cup chopped seeded fresh tomatoes
1 serrano chili, seeded and finely diced
2 teaspoons kosher salt
Pinch ground oregano
Dash Tabasco or a light pinch of cayenne pepper
Cilantro
Avocado
Tortillas or tortilla chips
Love the "back story" of your family and little sister... Good Stuff !
I love this. Be-it strangers that become acquaintances and possibly lifelong friends, to visiting your family it's all so many memories and experiences .It's kinda special that your niece o believe??? is following in your footsteps & no doubt if she continues with passion that she will succeed. Furthermore I dunno how old but she is haha but she's sitting there eating talking about textures n flavors hahaha it's definitely in your family bloodline(I certainly wasn't doing that when I was a youngster and neither was any of my cousins or any of the such). The Japan trip is totally awesome guys and I always look forward to more adventures. I wish you guys many blessings and much love and success🙏
Edit- Im also happy & proud to be EFFIN DAY 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Right? “Flaky” wasn’t part of my foodie vocabulary yet at her age either haha
@@mell.1097 Exactly! She's gonna kill it If she continues on and puts in the work 🙌🙌
Edit- mine(s) was more like no, gross, 🤢🤮 haha. I have so much appreciation for different cultures, up bringing n' education 🙏
Not niece... half-sister(same Dad, different Mom)
Glad to see you back in Kyushu and spending quality time with the family’s
Family is Everything!
Few things in the world relax me like watching you go from hook to sushi. Thanks for your hard work dude. Keep it up!
You have a sweet family. You’re blessed
Love the content you are putting out keep up the great work.
Thank you so much for telling your life story bro my hats off to you 👍🏽
Thank you for sharing!
Lived in Japan most of my adult life, They are perfectionist in every aspect, from cooking, working even on public transportation, on time every time. My only complaint, their love for tobacco and coffee. My many girlfriends chose smoking over me and my tries to get them to cutback .😅😂. All good, Everyone has vices. I Never even thought of eating raw fish or even rice until I moved there in the 83. Now I love both. Daijobo! Gambate ne!
Taku, thank you for this video it was a blessing 👍
Perfect timing! Thanks 🙏
Great job, glad to see you in Japan 🎉
I enjoy watch your videos keep it going!!!!!
Thanks for the bio and family story...little sister is very cute especially when smiling...hahahaha p.s. Little Sister also shows signs that she is proud of you...!!!
