  • Today we're building a custom diy pantry in the canopy setup to make the most of the empty space between the fridge and the slide out kitchen. This is just going to be a temporary solution as there will be a better slide out pantry coming soon, but should get us by for the meantime!

    Well done mate, ur setup is really well thought out. Not for me, but I’m single, and not u!🤣. I really like ur slide out bench setup, and other than the 6mm MDF, (I understand that it’s temporary, and I’m not having a dig, I just hate mdf, as I always manage to get it wet somehow🤷🏿‍♂️),that’s a really neat and cheap pantry setup. You’ve come a long way! 🎉 PS Still figure u were a flight attendant in another life ! Cheers and well played! 👍🍻🎯🇦🇺

    Good job Daniel. One up grade perhaps would be to use some 4mm Yellow Poly Cable Feeder from Bunnings as draw runners. The draws will slide a lot easier. I found drilling and countersinking holes for small screws the best attachment method.

    Mate, as a chippy when you said 6mm MDF, I was like how the hell are you going to screw into the side of that, you seemed to do it I don't know how you did without splitting it, but good on you they turned out nice, I would have gone for 9mm min or 12mm to get decent screws in there, Also when you cut Aluminium on the drop saw, place an offcut of timber on top of the aluminium right up to the blade and clamp them both down, Aluminium has a tendency to catch on regular drop saw blades, when it does it will rip out of that hold down clamp and a fast moving bit of shrapnel will go wherever it want's, normally back at you so make sure to wear eye protection when cutting it.

      @cheapneasy1981 Місяць тому

      The carpet and glue basically turned it into 12mm which would have helped him

    • @explorebound
      @explorebound  Місяць тому

      Haha yeah I definitely agree, if I was to build it again (or if it was a more permanent solution) I'd us thicker wood and reinforce it with some brackets. Thanks for the tip with the drop saw too! 🙂

    These are great ive been using these for a few years now. Save a ton of weight. Neat job as always Daniel! When are you doing the drawers for the other side? Keen to see what you come up with as the Kings ones i have weigh a ton and im keen to reduce weight in my canopy.

    Looking great Daniel. You are pretty good on the tools as well mate. What did you do with the small roller door to stop it from opening if I may ask

    • @explorebound
      @explorebound  Місяць тому +1

      Thanks Jack! The roller door is still just 'sitting' shut at the moment, I'm yet to add a latch but am thinking of just adding a simple metal piece to the base that the existing magnetic strip will connect to.

    Great vids fella, but thought i would point out that you never set your circular saw blade depth correctly. You only want 5mm max poking out the bottom of the stock you're sawing though. This makes for easier, smoother, cleaner cutting. 🤙

    • @explorebound
      @explorebound  Місяць тому +2

      Thanks for the tip mate! The saw is pretty new to me so still learning how to use it properly so appreciate the advice. 🙂
