@21:46 is why she got herself a 7 day ban. Telling folk to kill themselves and admitting she would harass specific people because of a shitty game. I get it, there are games over 30 years old that have better writing than this drivel, and it's getting worse all for the sake of inclusivity, but outright admitting you'd attack folk for writing certain games is taking it to far.
That would make sense, however many of these same people also tell others like Nuhre to go kill herself and they actively use tactics that cause people to get fired, ridiculed in their private lives, and deprive them of services that they rightfully pay for. If they're going to ban individuals like Nuhre, then they should also ban the other side too. If they don't ban the other side, which they haven't, then they shouldn't ban Nuhre either. The problem is the disgusting and obvious double standard. Also, as a side note, looking for these individuals in future games so that you can stay away from them and warn others is NOT harassment. It's just being intelligent with your time, money, and attention.
@mikhailbrenning1426 - If Nuhre or anyone else is told to kill themselves, then rightly so call that BS out, but that's not what is being discussed here. The point is that these grifters that are picking up this "drama" with Nuhre being banned by EA have not mentioned as to why, and what she has said goes against their Terms of Service, and since she's doubling down on shit like this isn't going to help anyone, it's just going to cause more problems than not.

This isn’t about positive representation or telling a good story. It’s about screeching propaganda at unknowing victims and unwittingly setting back trans acceptance by decades.
It was quite telling how the director (who has never even worked with RPGs) was interviewed and said like only 1-2 sentences about the actual games... then went on to only blabber about inclusivity and how DA is inherently queer. Like, bruh, it's fine to have queer stuff (it's nothing new to the series) but when it's the ONLY thing you talk about when we just want to hear whether the game's going to be a good RPG and thus a worthy sequel to this beloved franchise then I'm sorry, red flags all around. And yeah, their focus most definitely was NOT on delivering a good DA game.
Dunno if it is the director honestly. How would it be possible to still deliver a good line when its like the 20th time you have to say the most obvious and boring sh*t? I bet they were just told "yeah guys, lotta script here, very repetetive and cringey, so lets go, get this over with, eyes on the cheque!"

So, the all powerful villains sent a basic enemy to get the dagger for them, which they _really_ seem to need, and then just sat around and yelled, "Curses, foiled again!" when the basic enemy failed. Great villains. Edit: Wait, wasn't the dagger literally right in front of them when they escaped? Why couldn't they have just knelled down to take it? Even forgetting that, how did it take them that long to decide to start looking for it? Amazing writing.
If we give them the largest benefit of the doubt maybe and this is a huge maybe they had to fight Solas before trapping him in the fade so they didn't sense the dagger. Don't get me wrong why send a trash mob to get the dagger that is very important to your plan is just insanely illogical (also if you played DA2 that dagger can't exist).
@@marchmelloow Fair point personally it's odd they never rally the bulk of their forces (or just their dragons) to get the dagger back? At least in Inquisition Corypheus at the end of act 1 kicks your teeth down your throat before never getting the upper hand ever again showing he's a legit threat.
Morrigan shouldn't have been included in Inquisition - if you allow her to get impregnated in the end of Origins, she will devour the soul of the Big Bad Dragon Final Boss. Her child is not someone you'd be parading around, and I emphasize, THE INQUISITION. She was basically added into the game as fan service. Same with Veilguard.
Ever since I played Origins, I was really interested to see how this plot would turn out, if we would ever see that Arch-Demon child, maybe as an Antagonist. But now, I really dont, not anymore. Not interested in finding out what an insecure annoying and self-repeating they that child turns out to be by these writers Standards.
The only way it would have made sense would be if she was pretending to be someone else. Not admitting who she really was. I liked how bizarre her kid was. The most they should have been was background characters. The fact she and her kid was present made the stakes of inquisition very weird. Thats like plopping goku into the death note universe.
@@M3cronom how could you possibly expect a character with a determinate fate to be core antagonist? So all the people who didn’t do the dark ritual with Morrigan just don’t have a villain in their playthrough?
Me and my friends have been struggling to get through this game every 10 minutes something breaks in the lore like this is suffering as a dragon age fan. It's one of the most spiteful games I have ever seen towards its old fans and just trying to break down everything it gets wrong is giving us headaches. Almost every companion breaks the lore and I'm about to explain why. 1. Harding gets magic from a Lyrium dagger that was made from the red Lyrium idol Meredith used in DA2 meaning someone stole that idol from her greatsword in Kirkwall somehow got it into Solas's hands who then stabbed Varric with it but it's only Harding who got the magic when Rook also used it and all of this apparently was planned by a secret Illuminati organization in a different continent. It's almost Rise of Skywalker Sith Dagger bad. 2. Neve and the Shadow Dragons mainly focus on the slave trade and venetori cult in Tevinter which is the least interesting parts of Tevinter. There are several times when we run into Andraste worshippers and temples for Andraste when Tevinter doesn't worship her. They even have a different Divine called the Black Divine but it is completely sidelined to be yet another revolutionary group. 3. The Veil Jumpers in general piss me off. Bellara is like taking the worst aspects of Merrill and dialing them to 11. Outside of Trash she is the most guilty of modern day isms and acts like Sheldon from Big Bang Theory. I flat refuse to believe that the Dalish of all people would be okay with anybody just going into the ancient elven capital Arlathan and just going through their ruins let alone letting Bellara just hit ancient elven artifacts like she does. She'd been shot for how she acted considering how they treated Merrill in DA2 and Merrill was a lot more careful than Bellara. 4. Lucanis and by extension the Antivan Crows are so bad. They can't even do morally grey assassins in this game as he only kills evil mages. Antiva now only has the Crows as their main military and has no defenses when a blighted dragon showed up because it's just the Crows as their main defense. The Crows are an assassin guild that have lost all their edge and it is a far cry from how they were from Origins and Zevran. What Zevran went through compared to Lucanis is night and day. 5. Davrin arguably has one of the better personalities but his griffin shouldn't exist. They have been extinct for a very long time and Bioware had to write a book just to recton them back into existence either with time travel or suspended animation. I hate the Disney griffon and how poorly Bioware treated the Grey Wardens. That this guy is the one who decides the Grey Warden's fate and not ANY of the other Grey Wardens is insulting. 6. Trash is bad she goes beyond just breaking game lore and straight up breaking the fantasy illusion. She is such a self insert and has some of the most insufferable dialogue it's easy to forget the other stuff that just breaks in this game. Like how the entire military faction for the Qunari just straight up rebelled against the Qun and are now working the eleven Gods now. Trash is also working with the Lords of Fortune which is like modern day Tomb Raider. A thieves guild that doesn't steal and they try to explain it away with it's not plunder it's salvage. The only one so far that hasn't is the Disney Necromancer and that's because we barely know as much about Neverra compared to the others. And this maybe a long post but it's an abridged version of some of the events in this game. Like I can't stress enough just how bad Bioware messed up the story and lore with this game. There's so much more than a UA-cam comment can write.
davris is the worse for me because its just a human with pointy ears, nothing ethereal about him and yes africa has mythology with elves and apparently like the europeans they considered them otherworldly not human and beautiful so no i am not been racist, he is not an elf just a black man with pointy ears they should have made him a human and it would have made sense if his people came from across the sea maybe even as slaves ffs
@@eastbow6053well elves with dark skin had existed in Thedas since origins (Tabris' warden's mother was one of those), Briala was second (in books, not DAi), so was Fiona (again in the books, not DAI). Now I agree davrin's face is with more traditional african features than those other elves, which never was the case before
I completely feel the part about the Crows not being morally grey. Nothing in this game is. Even the Necromancer who aspires to become a lich is just a quirky gentlemen with a cute funny pet skeleton. And the companions treat each other and you in the most boringly friendly way too, there is no conflct, no mystery, Nothing that would get me engaged into wanting to learn more about anyone.
@@M3cronom I’m actually ok with the necromancer guy just being a quirky professor. I’d even have been ok with the Pixar style skeleton assistant if that was the only comedic relief, but no…every single companion is Pixar. The crows are all “good guys.” The pirates aren’t even pirates. Ironically the wardens, one of the only factions that’s meant to be truly “good guys” are depicted as corrupt and incompetent. I actually do like the idea of the shadow dragons. It’s a believable faction within the imperium. There is like zero lore on what they actually do though. They love to tell us how they fight the venatori and free slaves, but we never see it. They just hang out in their clubhouse. No idea why they had to make it so lighthearted with absolutely no moral ambiguity. There was no political intrigue, no grim dark themes, nothing that made it feel like origins. If this was a standalone game within its own new franchise, I think it could have been fine as a T for Teens action adventure game. Passing this off as the legacy of dragon age is just insulting though.
Bioware is a husk of its former self. The old team that made Mass Effect 1,2 & 3, & Dragon Age Origins is gone. Never thought we end up in a timeline where Dragon age is terrible. I hope they go bankrupt so they dont make another mass effect.
@@KopperNeoman Well it is developers of Mass Effect 1 and 2, Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, KOTOR, Dragon Age: Origins so I have high hopes I won't lie. They created my favorite RPGs and now they themselves decide what and how they do instead of EA or anyone breathing down their necks.
I don’t understand why the darkspawn was able to get the dagger in the first place. Harding and Neve just left Varric’s body where it dropped, apparently? Either that, or they took his body, but first they pulled out the extremely rare and powerful magical dagger and just… dropped it on the ground? You’d think a mage and an Inquisition scout would know better. Leliana would kill Harding! Never probably also has a professor who’d kill her, but I don’t know because I still feel like I barely know Neve. AND, of course, we’re suddenly pretending that Solas has no agents working for him. Even though those agents are the reason why my Inquisitor apparently had no choice but to give up everything she’d built in Trespasser. But they’re gone now! You could have just kept the Inquisition because every spy in Thedas took an early retirement!
Alongside the many other flaws of this game, it seems to never give the player even a moment to figure anything out themselves (even though the "puzzles" in this game are so childish and repetitive, a child could solve them). Companions never shut up, either stating the obvious or pointing out what needs to be done to advance. It's maddening. I have no idea how you lasted playing this as long as you have.
Right, it's like they save you the trouble of any cognitive activity. Or emotional. Or the use of your basic senses. Hells, they even saved journalists the trouble of having an opinion.
I remember desperately looking for an off switch for these damn hints in the options like wtf they literally tell you what to do as soon as you enter the area of a puzzle like half the time I hadn't even seen the thing yet and they were telling me what to do. And like you said these puzzles aren't even puzzles they're just a waste of time so why even have them in the game
@@Te3time Many people speculate that it was a gameplay element intended for the scrapped idea of making this game a live service co-op or multiplayer. Such games have these time-wasting elements that lazily and artificially increase gameplay time. Looking at every area of the game that has those, regardless of its shape/layout and whether it is an open outdoor or closed indoor area, you can see that these areas are essentially a series of boxes or rooms- kill the enemies in your way, and solve the puzzle to open the way to the next room. This is even more evident when you consider that later in the game, these "puzzles" have an increased number of steps; there is no increase in sophistication or difficulty, only how much time they wastes. That is the prime purpose of these.
It took them 10 years, and they had a 200 million dollar budget. Let that sink in. I played it, and I already knew from the get-go that this wasn't dragon age. Wukong deserves GOTY. I will laugh so hard and be so happy if failguard doesn't win GOTY.
One thing I realized with this, that totally contradicts the lore explained by Ironbull in DA:I, is that Qunari under the Qun have different accents than other races [Generally other races are either UK or French, but Qunari like Ironbull have American accents] The exception being if you choose to play a Qunari Inquisitor, but their workaround to this is that makes the Inquisitor Tal'Vashoth, or an outsider to those who follow the Qun. Yet in this game, they all have European accents, including Rook if you choose Qunari, and yet Taash's mother [with the UK accent] clearly follows the Qun [which Taash doesn't and has the same accent], but if you're Tal'Vashoth you aren't to treat Tal'Vashoth as if they aren't outsiders.... there are multiple levels of continuity error here. 🤡
I hope the words about blowing the horn if those people will ever try to write anything again is true. We have to make sure we will never buy anything that they will be part of creating.
This video randomly showed up on my feed. It might be the best thing I’ve seen in months. Definitely more entertaining than the actual dragon age game. The descent into madness is reasonable.
Nah, they are on complete damage control already. I think it's save to say that they are done. It's over. They are getting canned. As tripple A releases go this has severely underperformed. No matter how many "problematic" reviews they delete to bring the steam reviews up to "mostly positive" it is not going to save this.
@theblackbaron4119 Hm... I dunno man. Microsoft is keeping 343 open purely out of spite at this point. I wouldn't put it past EA as a permanent virtue signal post.
It IS fan fiction. The real writers left a while back... There's no one left. Why isn't it fan fiction? Because the company still has it's previous name? This is just like Star Wars. The new shit isn't IT. The fact that they feel entitled to not just make terrible movies pushing a lot of bullshit in the worst possible way, but they also said, day one, that nothing was cannon apart of the movies (Which wasn't really the best star wars conent anymore). ANY fan could have written something 1000 times better than what we got from the "Star Wars is Female" poisonous snake crew.
I didn't believe it at first but people said this was supposed to be an online service trash game, then the online part got scraped. The more I look at it, the more it makes sense to me.
btw for the last 10 years i had an ending for this series i think it would be 10/10 compare to this, they are so useless as writers they made me feel confident Remember were the elves in witcher universe came from an other planet? Similar ending like that here. Solas is ready to destroy the veil then the forgotten ones who were once part of the evanuris appear, how do they appear, the protagonist is a gray warden (nice closing to a series that started with a warden) who was traveling the deep roads to end it cause the calling was upon them. The warden with the help of a voice (unknown entity maybe the maker we never find out) finds an ancient waypoint that was sealed by the evanuris and unseals it, the forgotten ones come through (they also followed the voice) so we have a party of ancient elves that can go toe to toe with the evanuris and we can mix some mortals in the party as well the forgotten ones have weapons to give them the edge they need, they ask solas for help to kill the evanuris and destroy the blight before it escapes into the abyss (the abyss is roads that lead to other planets like the witcher had travel between worlds) and after that convince him to come with them to their new planet along with any spirit and theodosian elf that wants to be immortal the rest can stay with humanity in thedas with the veil intact. If you recall the witcher elves left the freaking planet after the 3rd game they couldnt live in peace with the humans so adios this is my inspiration for this ending, we dont have to destroy the veil or anything

The entire tone of the game is wrong. It's like they wrote the game for children, but at the same time they made your main character a therapist for a bunch of broken people.
It's very striking, especially when directly compared to recent playthroughs of the old games, just how not Dragon Age this game is. It belongs in a different alternate timeline. Glad I didn't buy it.
2:59 to 3:21 is such a hilarious clip to me. As someone new to the channel, the out of context 'person in a clown costume playing veilguard' - it really brightened my day.
I never played the DA games but this is how I felt about Game of Thrones last season which ruined the entire franchise for me. Every single character you have come to know and gained an attachment to, is an unrecognizable, vacuous shell of themselves.
If you’re a casual gamer the game is just okay. But if you’re really a “fan” and I mean a real informed fan of Dragon Age then I don’t know why you would play this game and appreciate it. These dudes made a whole trilogy and a website dedicated to solidifying your CHOICES in which in the end nothing you did matters. Previous characters are just shell of their former shelves or at all. And don’t get me started on the ending. Queue the old “aha so it was _______ all along”. It’s the same with Star Wars you have old content to look back to so how the the fuck do you miss the mark badly
I love the righteous indignation. I also love that you're going through and showing just how terrible this game is compared to what the journos, which everyone should know not to trust, have said.
My friend, I totally understand. It's very cathartic to hear your upset as another fan of this series. No other reviewer I've watched has had enough investment in the game to channel the disappointment I feel that this abomination exists. So thank you.
I commend you, ma'am. You are stronger man than me. I didnt even manage to bring myself to watch the playthrough on my favorite DA channel, let alone play it myself.
For starters it's not an RPG, doesnt matter if they/them want to call it an ARPG or whatever... it doesn't matter it's not a CRPG... it still lacks basic RPG elements. You can't role play anything EXCEPT a very good, caring, supportive guy/gal/transformer. The end. The writing falls flat for the most part, there are some parts where it's decent (i guess the Mass Effect guys did that part) but generally it's lacking, they are using current day terms soooooooooooooooo often (team???? really? we are a TEAM? in a dark fantasy game we are calling a group/party a team?????, non binary and all those stuff that are cringy and immediately pulling you out of the game, immersion breaking stuff right there). The gameplay altho it is fun it becomes stagnant and boring really fast, being able to use ONLY 3 skills at a time can get extremely boring and i found that straight up lazy. The talent tree altho it looks promising its not well thought out, you gotta take soooooooo many useless passives in order to get the ones you actually need for your build. Voice acting is pretty decent, the games performance is very good, the artwork (background and areas ) is gorgeous, but the characters look like they don't belong there with there cartoonish features. The character creator that everyone raves about... i don't get it. Yeah you can make a lot of unique faces and that's great... but the bodies? you can literally have 2.5 types cuz the buff and tall never actually happens. I tried to create a human, wanted him to be a tank, so i tried to make him as beefy and tall as possible but... the result in game looks BAD. He looks like a twink, like a tall halfling next to most, i am almost the same height as every female companion and i dont look that big/bulky either. Then tried to create a female mage, i wanted her to be sexy, big chest and rear end and all... aaaaaand nope, you just can't do that here, i guess people with big breasts and butts don't exist... or not inclusive enough for them. Choices matter... in other games. Not in this one, except for some choices that you can count on the fingers of one hand. The lore gets retconned on multiple occasions, the elves are apparently responsible FOR EVERYTHING bad that ever happened in Thedas... aaaaaaaaand somehow people don't hate elves anymore! Altho Elven gods are about to destroy everything. Remember how everyone was hating on elves and were even racist towards em? Yup... doesn't happen anymore, elves are now accepted and loved and ok to be everywhere. I don't know man... i was looking forward for this game and the disappointment after finishing it was and still is HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE. Such a let down. I am thinking about it over and over again and i truly can't find any actual redeeming qualities in this "game".
Part of me which still love bioware, wants to give this a fair chance, and yet my self respect won't allow me pay anything above 5% of Veilguard's price... So will buy it only then it will cost like 3 euros...
the people that actually worked there in the Mass Effect/DA:O days have quit a while ago, before Mass Effect Andromeda. This isn't Bioware anymore, it's EA now
This game is literal 💩, and I have every right to say that because I finished it. Forget about the lore or the characters you loved, hated, or respected-there’s nothing left. It’s just an endless void of banality, stupidity, and a complete lack of logic or meaningful choices. I had many mental breakdowns during my playthrough, and I had to force myself to finish it. Don’t believe that the “last 2-3 hours” are fine or really good. No, that’s not true, these last hours are better than the rest of the game, but nothing-absolutely nothing-can justify this abomination.

That's so cringe. Telling people their feelings and opinions are invalid because he has a degree or something. Yeah, right. This game sucks. It's so painfully mediocre.

Honestly ive just stopped playing it and reinstalled Inquisition and modded it some. You can see how Morrigan was an afterthought based on her model with her fringe is underneath the headband
After playing this game my general opinion is that BioWare wanted to restart this saga, but also didn't want to completely throw the lore away, so they kept the bare minimum for you to remember this takes place within the same world as the other 3 games. Also, for some reason they decided that the target audience for this game are now kids and pre teens, not the adults that make most of the fandom. I mean, necromancy is now ok with everyone (except Taash, the only time I agreed with her) when in DA2 we met a crazy necromancer and in DAI Cassandra (a nevarran) was uncomfortable with it, especially if you specialized on it. Also, how they tackled blood magic in this game was pitiful. In DAO is established that it is dangerous because it's subtle enough that only trained individuals can notice it, very strong and that the victim may not realize they're being controlled, so why aren't Harding and Neve concerned when Rook tells them that Solas used some sort of blood magic on them?? And Minrathous is kind of the place where 4 out of 5 mages use it, so why is it only adressed (though it is barely there) in 1 side quest?? And I wonder, who thought that past characters who barely mention their past were a good idea? Dorian is the one that talks the most about it and he only mentions what he did after Inquisition. Morrigan doesn't mention Kieran (which imo is what gives her great character development) or anything that happened in DAO, all she tells you about are her interactions with Solas in DAI. Isabela is perfect, if DA2 didn't happen at all, which is easy to pretend because she barely says Varric and Merril's names once

Even Claudia Black sounds mildly tired, istg the VO director had NO CLUE on how to direct these actors lmao
Lol was going to say Claudia sounds like she's just phoning it in and doesn't give a fuck

Someone honestly should make a public list of game directors and writers who do nothing but ruin titles or produce poor quality works, if nothing else so people know they produce dog shit.
@@BlackDragoonV7 Even if we give them that, why just stand around and complain about it instead of going there themselves?
@@marchmelloow Fair point personally it's odd they never rally the bulk of their forces (or just their dragons) to get the dagger back? At least in Inquisition Corypheus at the end of act 1 kicks your teeth down your throat before never getting the upper hand ever again showing he's a legit threat.
Entire dev team, everyone who worked on this, especially the writers- infected with blight. I'm convinced.
In Veilguard's case it was specifically to ruin her character.
Still better than having her possessed by Flemeth in the ens
All of these above 👆👆👆
This game is an insult to dragon age lore...
They are gone. But they also are making a new game in their own studio: ua-cam.com/video/WAKAZNQuLqw/v-deo.html

Cause she does carry flemeth in this game
They try to make these characters so deep but everyone wears the motion on their sleeve and is boiled down to the bare bones of their character
One thing I realized with this, that totally contradicts the lore explained by Ironbull in DA:I, is that Qunari under the Qun have different accents than other races [Generally other races are either UK or French, but Qunari like Ironbull have American accents]
The exception being if you choose to play a Qunari Inquisitor, but their workaround to this is that makes the Inquisitor Tal'Vashoth, or an outsider to those who follow the Qun.
These games are why Im running through Skyrim for the umpteenth time with fallout on deck.
I hope the words about blowing the horn if those people will ever try to write anything again is true. We have to make sure we will never buy anything that they will be part of creating.

*the god empress blesses us once again*
btw for the last 10 years i had an ending for this series i think it would be 10/10 compare to this, they are so useless as writers they made me feel confident
Remember were the elves in witcher universe came from an other planet?
How in the hell can she be Morrigan?!

They literally never use a single synonym for TEAM. I remember Solas once used that word like 6 times in a single conversation it drove me insane
I wouldn't even pirate this.

Solas was just a poor boy with mommy issues :(

that morrigan reaction was priceless.
So there's this UA-camr named renfail he claimed this us his GOTY he's made a ton of videos on this game which you know whatever he can like what like but he actively gaslights his audience that theres nothing going on with the reviews that the people who hate this game are misinformed and he made a video about marketing or something and anyone who commented calling him out cause a lot of what he said was bs he just gave this robotic response "your premise is rejected" because according to him he has decades of experience in the field and anyone who doesn't have experience is objectively wrong despite the evidence proving otherwise i thought the guy was just toxicly positive about everything but no the guy really is straight up arrogant and probably has a superiority complex
That's so cringe. Telling people their feelings and opinions are invalid because he has a degree or something. Yeah, right. This game sucks. It's so painfully mediocre.

23:38 it broke you. Hahaha I was watching like “welp they’ve done it, she’s broken…” hahahah
