They weren't given much, but when John gave them John 1:47, "Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, and said of him, 'Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!'" They made it his entire character. Well done Chosen!
Agreed. Nathanael's "no deceit" is like my friend's "no filter".

It’s even funnier that Jesus said that almost immediately after Nethaniel was expressing his concern that the Messiah was from Nazareth because apparently it had the same stigma for whacky shenanigans attached to it as Florida
He reminds me of me lol!! I love how relatable all of their characters are. I guess we'll never know what they were really like but the more I watch the show, the more I research and I see nothing bad w how they imagined the disciples, it's very realistic. Bravo!!

Nathaniel has no filter. He's as autistic as Matthew, but in a different way. (And Thomas, they're three of a kind.) He doesn't understand tact, doesn't understand social situations or body language and just blurts out the first thing at the top of his head. He's incapable of lying; he doesn't understand the concept. Very relatable.
The best ones never do but know of the good works and wish to be a part of it ❤❤❤ The best diamonds shine differently.

I'm drawn to him and Matthew hahaha. I also looooove his story because it was so relatable. I also, most of the time before, when I am facing disappointments, think God is not listening to me and is turning His face away from me. When Jesus said He saw Nathaniel and He did not turn His face away from Him, it touched my heart so much like Jesus is telling me that words. ♡

If you're a fan of the Old Arsenio Hall show from the 90's, there was a part called, Things That Make You Go Hmmmmm....like where did Dr. Pepper go to med school? Or if you break a prong off a fork, is it now called a threek???? 😂 The Chosen, you could actually make this a thing for Nathaniel whenever hes out walking with someone. 😂😂😂😂
Remember - you are loved! Jesus loved you and gave His life so you can be free because of Him! He wants all of us to repent of our sins and be given a new life in Him! He does to all who choose to believe in Him, trust Him and follow Him xx He will never leave you nor forsake you xxx
Nathanael no filter this man says what's on his mind. Its good you guys keep this in mind and have each character have their own unique traits and quirks and it follows them throughout and not just dropped after it's not useful for one episode.
It's easy to forget that each of the disciples was a 3-dimensional character with unique traits and skills.

He’s hilarious. One of my favorite scenes from season 3 is when Matthew is trying to put on the prayer tassels and Nathaniel opens the door on him and Matthew is all embarrassed and Thaddeus is doing everything not to laugh at the whole thing 😂 one of my favorite scenes ❤

"Don't get me wrong." lol I kinda love Dallas' interpretation of Jesus' description of Nathanael in the Bible, an Israelite in whom is no guile. I always just took that to mean pure, maybe even innocent, more 'dove', less 'serpent'. 'In your face' brutal honesty never occurred to me, but now that I've 'met' Dallas' Nathanael, it's my favorite take on 'no guile'.
That's what I love about The Chosen the most, I think. It's like a living commentary, suggesting meanings about familiar passages that aren't huge bones of contention doctrinally between different schools of thought, but instead about those passages that we might give some thought to, but then race on to 'juicier' fare.
Dallas, in his own quiet way, suggests an interpretation we might never have thought of, or if we had, presents it with good writing, production values and acting, in a way we'd never considered, and through these 'familiar but obscure' passages, gives us the living, breathing story of the Christ in a way that excites not only in our familiar 21st-century cinematic terms, but in uniquely engaging expository and hermeneutic terms as well. Love it!

I appreciate Nathanael so much in this series. 😂 He speaks his mind and usually says what we’re all thinking. There have been quite a few times where I started laughing because he said exactly what I was thinking.

Austin is such a good actor and plays the part of Nathaniel well. I’ve never given Nathaniel much thought while reading scripture, but now I see him through the performance Austin gives each season. Thank you for bringing Nathaniel to life for us to get to know better.
