Mikwaukee makes a battery operated compressor. You hook it up to the shrade valve one the bottom and fill the tank with air. That blows the water into the system and out the boiler drain.
way that mike from Pipe Doctor posted is to drain the tank while its still attached to the system using an air inflator. No mess at all and tank gets empty.
Lookout! A Vaughn Top Performer indirect 'low boy' water heater! My first one failed leaking out the top. Leak was minor. Covered by warranty, but I still had to pay removal and installation. The replacement had its INTERNAL BOILER COIL FAIL with a leak. The high pressure domestic water from the tank went into the boiler coil. This high pressure water was now going to the boiler. It raised the pressure of the boiler and the relief valve opened and did its job. A LOT OF WATER now spilling out. I had SUPER LUCK to be at home when the failure happened. I was in the basement! It would have been major water damage if we were not home. ALERT THE HOMEOWNER about that time bomb water heater. Get it replaced. Note: I am on city water, not a well with hard water. The coils still failed.
For those full expansion tanks that you have to remove, maybe you could rig up some kind of Sling to hold it while you're removing it - like another set of hands....
No, the right way that mike from Pipe Doctor posted is to drain the tank while its still attached to the system using an air inflator. No mess at all and tank gets empty.
Paesano.. why don't you check up the electrolytic capacitor before you change the motor? if capacitor is dry, motor would not start. Get a uf meter :) Ti Saluto!

I have heard him mention in other videos that he has been in the business over 30 years. If he started as an apprentice or helper after high school, he would be in his early 50's now.
When relief valve leaking I always just replace all 3 feed valve, expansion tank, and relief valve and if it has a hot water coil I shut off boiler feed and see if pressure rises to see if coil is bad
Miss Molly didn't want to go to work this morning...too cold.😊
"Twice the woman I married"!
Makes these hard days easier. Keep 'em coming Steve!
Twice the woman I married 😂🤣🤣 that’s good
I'm a plumber in the North East. A vlog of how you make the videos would be nice Would love to learn. I enjoy your videos.
I agree, but I get why Steve wouldn't do it. He doesnt need any competition.
@@gidzey4783 No competition im in Southern NH. There are plenty of videos out there. i Just like Steves videos
Nice..however I would of changed complete circulation pump..saves u call backs , because if pumps starts to in leak in near future, it's on u.
Good job again !!!!! And = you put the date on the tank
I liked that

You can tell Lav gets pissed when miss Molly don’t wanna work lol. He always says he doesn’t care but you know it burns his biscuits.
Why hasn't there been annual maintenance for such a long time?
probably because the owner doesn't realize it needs periodic maintenance
Great videos and very informative!!!
great job Steve
was curious why you only replace the motor part to the taco circ pump rather than also the housing as well
Nice work sir! 👍
You gave Molly too many vacation and sick days in her employment plan mama! Little bit of everything on this one. Thanks Steven!
Wait till minimum wage goes up Steve may have to let her go 🤣 with a severance package lol.
@@throttlebottle5906 oh I know. It ain’t gonna be good.
Why not punch a hole in the expansion tank before removing it? Less chance of getting hurt. Ask me how I know
Ed, how do you know?
why not do what pipe doctor does and use a pump to drain the tank while its still attached to the system?
2:16 would make a great coffee mug lmao.
Lotsa issues on dis won. Steve gave it the ole howya doin mama and made her good as new. 😄😄😄😄
Its nice when you can change everything at once.
I push on tp pipe to loosen valve
Nice job and video
Steve you might be able to use a small Milwaukee air compressor 12v to charge the tank enough to push the water out before you drop it on your toes!
@@barackobama5304 Slow leak maybe
Steve is too cheap to buy one plus hes a sloppy plumber. He'd rather take a bath when taking off extrols
Is it risky to fill a warm boiler with cold water?
sometimes depends
Steven, when are engineers going to invent a drain to empty failed expansion tanks prior to replacement?

Webstone has a fitting for that.

Hey Steve I notice in a lot of your videos the hot water lines are not insulated. Is that by design to help heat the space?
Did the customer pay for full or half ??. Just asking I do the same thing for a living

That could happen with any indirect coil, the vaughn is a very well built tank. It was repaired under warranty, be thankful.
Wasn't the saying "Next Level Momma" from an animated movie ? Seems like I've heard it somewhere.

A simple thing like “no hot water” turns into hundreds of dollars.
You could heat it up on the stove instead 🤷♂️
