Looks like you got there just in time, given that the temp in the boiler water after you started it was just above 32 degrees F, from your video near the end. Customer is lucky to have someone as committed as you as his service provider.

Hey Steve, on the Beckett genesys control, if you push and hold the button until the yellow light turns on, release and quickly press it again, the controll will go into prime mode and continuously run, so no need to jump the motor. One of the reasons why I love that control! Good work brother, i enjoy your videos

Had the same problem years ago with a GE low pressure oil burner. The 1/2” line was so clogged with crap it wouldn’t flow any oil. I put a shut off valve on one end and blew about 4 co2 cartridges through it and then opened the valve into a 2 gal. container. It was loaded with what looked like mold!

"Cat Sh*t" as good a description as it gets! It is always at that time of might these type of jobs come along.
I had one at 8:30pm and it would not fire, after we took out 80 gallons of water we got oil finally coming through.
Interesting to see an oil burner running with some water still mixed with the oil coming through.
Very bright sparks when water came through. Stayed for half an hour with it running and I reckoned if it ran that long it would run without any more problems. The burner was a lot bigger that that though, it had to heat a very big church.
It was 1;30AM or I got away from that one. All I can say is I hope they were warm next day as the building got a heat up the Friday night. I think they had a load of kids in for something next morning and afternoon.
Must have kept going as didn't hear otherwise.

I’ve seen it happen so many times. People run their tank dry the all the condensation, corrosion & debris sink to the bottom when they fill the tank. You get a real cold spell & the water freezes in the line. Last year I had to put a turbo torch to her fuel line for about 30 minutes before I thawed it out. Pretty interesting to be putting full flame to a combustible fuel line in -40 degree weather!!!!! It for the faint of heart

The new house will now have a furnace room guys like Steve will freak out over...and the incoming oil will be filtered before the tank, after the tank and the tank itself - tanks rather - will be conical so they can settle out any garbage in them before the outbound filter gets it. Yeech - keep out the sludge!

Heard vacuum as soon as he opened the bleeder. Plugged/ frozen line. Also over time the tanks gather sludge naturally from moisture from the vents. As the boiler uses fuel it draws outside air. Moisture and all. If the tanks were replaced and the fuel from the old tank(s) was pumped back in, the new tanks start their life off with the same problems. On the genesys control if you hold the reset down until the yellow pump purge light comes on, let off of it for half a second and push it for a half second again, the primary goes into pump prime which gives you four minutes where the control kind of ignores the cad cell and opens the solenoid. Makes it a little less stressful to bleed.

Doing delivery, I used to see signs of where folks has dumped waste oil into the oil tank to get rid of it.
I saw a couple instances of old paint in there, and one run out where the vent smelled like gasoline during the fill. I refused to start that one, and made them call a tech to flush the line of the gasoline.

GOOD EAR!!! I'm not hearing it, and although I am a very experienced amateur mechanic, I've never had a car with a turbo or supercharger, so I don't know what to listen for.
A boost leak? C'mon Steve, you are a PLUMBER for Pete's sake! :) Just kidding around... In all fairness, I'd bet all the cash in my wallet that this particular plumbing issue is just as badly buried as some of your worst house-plumbing problems.
What is that they say? The plumber has leaky pipes in his house and the mechanic daily-drives the worst barely functional hoopties...

If that line has sludge in it there's no way compressed air will remove the sludge. It only opens it. The line needs to be flushed! Use the oil to flush it and stop wasting time lol. Put the end of the line from at the pump into your bucket and open up the tank valve and flush all that shit outta the line with a cup or two of oil. Then re-hook up your line to the pump.

  • @paulmerritt7540

  • @paulk8io445
    @paulk8io445 2 роки тому

I know in long term fuel storage situations for emergency Diesel generators you may have oil set for years. It will get a growth, bacteria? that will cause sludge issues. I had one site that continuously filtered the oil on what was called a clean fuel system. It filtered to 2 micron and separated water out. They also make a bacteriostat additive to stop that for diesel, not sure about k1. May be the same stuff.
