Evelyn and I head out to the Guadalupe River in Spring Branch Texas for a great day of paddling. We ran the 6.2 mile trip from Guadalupe Canoe Livery to Rebecca Creek Road. Water flow was great at 350 cfs.
Kayaks: Jackson Coosa and Coosa HD
Paddles: Werner Corryvreckan and Werner Shuna
PFD: Astral Sturgeon and Astral Linda

After moving back to Texas back in 2021, I still haven't kayaked the rivers yet. I'm in the northern side of San Antonio. Going to Canyon Lake Boat Ramp 11 pretty soon. Going to kayak the Guadalupe River Upstream. Thanks for taking me along and will have to check out that part as well. Have a wonderful day my friend.
Welcome back, if we get proper spring rains the rivers can be wonderful 👍
@@tgcanoesandkayaks I hope we get the rain we need. We got some rain now and I know we need a lot more.
Love these videos and the fact you share so much helpful info allowing the rest of the opportunity to get out there to enjoy these spots as well! Well done as always and thanks!
Hey anytime, thanks for the positive feedback.
@@tgcanoesandkayaks hello what’s the name of the spot where you launched from thank you
This video has put a smile on my face. Thanks a lot for taking us along the journey with you. My friend and I have traversed that exact same part of the river many of times but I have never had the privilege to get to run it with either of my parents. You are extremely lucky in my opinion to have made a mother and son time on the river! What a great experience to remember. Two thumbs for spending quality time with the Mom.
Thanks for the wonderful words. It's a beautiful area, I'm blessed being able to spend time with my mother exploring 👍
Great video
Glad I found this video. I am a New Braunfels Kayaking/SUP outfitter. I constantly refer my local kayaker/clients to your videos and many have told me they really appreciate how informative and thorough your videos are. Adding this trip to my list for 2022. Thanks for your contributions to the yak community!
Wow thanks for the wonderful feedback 👍
Very cool video on a very hot day! Loved it!!!
Thanks JG
As someone learning how to kayak, this was an excellent video! Thanks!
Thanks Donn, I hope you are enjoying kayaking experience.
Awesome 👏🏻
3 weeks ago we did this and was dark passed 311 takeout. First time on kayak to Rebecca creek and we choose to do it in the dark with no moon. Crazy fun. Inflatable kayaks made it to Rebecca creek take out.
Great video! Thanks for the trip info as well. Keep it up!
Thanks Johnny
Great video!! Good family fun and a tutorial on draw strokes lol… much appreciated
Yo Mayer thanks for the incredible feedback.
You know I’m trying improve my paddling skills… there were like 30 draw strokes in this video 😊
@@justinmayer9973 I do what I can 😆
How long does it take for this section ?
This trip is 6.2 miles long, water level was at 350 cfs (GOOD FLOW) about 3 hrs. If fishing 6-8hrs.
I did the 17 mile trip from bergheim to livery and that was a hell of a trip
All in one day? Low water or good flow?
@T G Canoes and Kayaks I did it all in one day it was an 11 hour trip with lower flow something around the 50s I believe but it was tough
@@herrheim1685 whoa, 50 is brutal water levels on the upper guad, and 17 miles is a big day
@T G Canoes and Kayaks yea It was tough but I plan on yak packing it this year when water is higher
Do you know if there are guides that go on this same route? We are a family of 5 and enjoy kayaking but we only go about 1 time a year so I'm not certain if we could handle navigating this on our own. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
What is a good flow so you are not dragging the whole time?
We love it at 300+ but 150cfs and up is fine.
How many hours was the trip? Planning from Nicholls landing to Rebecca creek and needed an estimate for dry camping ? And are there plenty of spots to dry camp? Thx
Hello, cool video. Was wondering what brand pfd is that you have. I'm just getting into kayaking.
Thanks Jroy, I am using the Astral Sturgeon pfd.
Ur videos are the most informative and straight to the point thank u. Any recommendations on another river within 100 miles?
There are many great rivers in the area. Two rivers that a great all year - San Marcos and South Llano. Others that require rains for a good flow - Medina, Llano, Nueces.
When did you run this? Was it after all this recent rain?
Hey Eduardo this was last week 6/9
Think you could do this type of kayaking with a Bonafide SS107?
If it's the only kayak you have, sure don't let it stop you.
I have an inflatable Intex k1 kayak. Could I run the river with it? I've done it on inner tubes before so hopefully yes.
Can you? Yes, would I recommend it? No I wouldn't unless the water was high.
Yes. Even did it in the dark
Just came across your channel, and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I have what may be an oddball question, but here goes. I’m a kayaker and live in N Texas, and am looking for something to protect my skin while on the water that’s not too hot. In your videos you often wear what looks like a very lightweight hoodie. Care to share which brand, etc you prefer and why? Thanks!
Yoo thanks for the kind words Paul. In the summer I usually wear a long sleeve, hooded, quick dry shirt with UPF 50. Brand doesn't matter too much imo, but I have a few of the Columbia ones.
@@tgcanoesandkayaks Thanks, Mister. I appreciate the info!
What’s this place called
Looks so nice and peaceful. Enjoyed watching. Did you park a second car at exit point?
The upper Guad is very beautiful. Correct we had 2 trucks to shuttle ourselves.
This is the riddle I was trying to solve in my head. Pretty much the only way I could figure unless a buddy is available to shuttle :).
Looks like Coosas are the best river fishing kayaks.
They are some of the finest River runners on the market for sure.
The river is now bone dry (October 2023)
