Me and my wife danced to this song at our wedding a few months after it was released 😊 we were struggling to pick a song and then this came out and we just knew immediately. We’re both massive fans.
Ohhh my dream come true, my gf its very devote and man i can't even show her one of ghost songs because she will get traumatized, but i always have wanted to dance this song with her
Tobias said in an interview that this song is kind of telling a romance in black plague era, when people were basically sentenced to death when infected. And you look at you loved one, hold his/her hand and she/he's dying. Very sad indeed
Life Eternal is such a beautiful, sad song. It's also quite beautiful if you hear it live too. Ghost did a great live recording of it during one of the BBC Recording sessions they did a couple years ago, I'd recommend it. But yes, it is a song that leaves you melancholic and contemplative about life. Excellent reaction, you two!
@@FlameImperishable they should be headlining MSG. But where im seeing them in NJ the arena is half full and they are touring with 2 other bands. I just dont get it?
This is my favorite part of Prequelle. The whole album is a story. In Dance Macabre, he falls in love. In Pro Memoria, he's taunted with death. In Witch Image, he sells his soul for eternal life. In Helvetesfonster, the bell tolls (the chime at midnight from Dance Macabre). In Life Eternal, he laments his eternal life without his lover.
Thankyou for this analogy, well done, except at the end Papa and his girlfriend are together. She looks like she recovered from what ever happened to her.
This is in my top 3 Ghost songs easy. It’s so catchy, we’ll designed, and emotionally effective. It’s perfect in the context of the album as well. Prequelle was such an underrated album.
Let me say, this was only performed live on the Pale Tour Names Death. I saw them on Wilkes Barre, Pa drove 4.5 hours from Pittsburgh to see them in a small theater. Incredible. He actually extends the vocal bars on “this is the moment of just letting goooooooooo… and also the last AND EVVEEEEEEERRRR” look up Ghost live Kirby Center 2018. You will hear his range and stamina. The whole show is well filmed by “Yupsure” would love to see a live reaction. Takes it to another level.
@@LeWelker83 They didn't miss a beat when the lead guitarist went down either!! great to get a comment from someone who shared that experience. I have seen them twice since.. that might be my favorite still.
@@alexandereckert5939 Yep, and that injury just goes to show how dedicated they are to their fans and performance, continuing to put on a strong show without hesitancy for the 2.5 hours it was! Worth every penny.
This song and Majesty were my two favourite track by Ghost for a good long while. Not to sound morbid but it's what I would like played at my funeral. Of course that'll be centuries away lol
You have to remember that this is from Prequelle - an album about the plague, so yeah, it really is about a couple where one or both of them is dead or dying.
This is the finale song of Prequelle, the album about the Black Plague, so of course, this is when the last people are letting go, as foreshadowed in Dance Macabre. The song that comes before this, Helvetesfönster, is very fitting in that it communicates the quietness of the world after many of the people are gone and it flows right into this.
What she was talking about pop artists taking deep subjects and playing it in happy upbeat ways, it makes me think of the original version of Mad World by Tears for Fears.
I know it’s a little strange to be saying this but I really want Post Modern Jukebox to to a Ghost Cover. Especially, Square Hammer or Dance Macabre would fit in so nice.
This album is about the black death...this song is about a couple and she is dieing holding her hand and telling her how much he loves her and letting go letting her die their souls forever entangled
Opeth, not "opera" lol. And Avatar?!? If you said Dark Tranquility, Amon Amarth, Dark Funeral, Katatonia, Therion, Candlemass, Marduk, Soilwork... and I could name at least 20 more... yeah.. but in the famous words of Ozzy: "Who tf is Avatar?" :))
@@bostonceltics3055 opinions are like aholes everybody has one. . I like avatar. That's my opinion. Bloody Angel and going hunting are decent songs. I did the entire soil soilwork amon amarth ect ect but despite decent sounds coming from them nothing "hooked" me. Its background music. Also my opinion
@@FlameImperishable Ooh. Looking forward to that! So much emotion in it. Especially for a complete instrumental song. I believe Mikael Akerfeldt features on it as well. Love the Ghost vids.
That's not really how Wikipedia works in practice. Most articles (at least the established ones, not so much small and obscure ones) are closely monitored by editors who get notified if something changes, and if they see that the change is wrong somehow, they will immediately change it back. And everything is (or should be) sourced and can be confirmed by checking out that source if you're unsure of the veracity. There have even been studies that show an extremely high accuracy on Wikipedia! :)
It's not at all metal but the song The Memo by Father John Misty is one of the best takedowns of modern pop culture out there. Very funny and incisive and musically Father John Misty is no slouch either
I’ve heard different theories about this one. Some have said it’s from the view point of Satan? Tobias says it’s about eternal life and would you want it? Is that something you could commit to? I don’t know exactly what it means but still love the way it’s crafted and written. To me it sounds like she’s committed and he’s not, If you had life eternal, she says.. Sounds like she’s entering the afterlife without him to me anyway.
It sounds like a beautiful love song until he says "Will you let me touch your soul forever?" and it's instantly creepy. That's not what a lover would say, more like a demon seducing a poor mortal into eternal damnation.
I gotta say I like the melody of the pre-chorus and the overall vibe of the song but the lyrics feels lil bit repetitive to me. Yeah, many songs of them have repetitive lyrics but somehow it doesnt bother me. But here it doesnt work very well for me.

@@FlameImperishable Awesome! Blind Guardian is tops
We did did Type o negatives “love you to death” (which makes for a great reaction ❤️ album version tho )
We were thinking about this for our wedding as well. Instead we went with the ballad version of Rainbow Connection because The Muppets fucking rule
“We dance once more
I feel your hands are cold
Within your heart, a story to be told”. Beautiful but haunting lyrics
Tobias said in an interview that this song is kind of telling a romance in black plague era, when people were basically sentenced to death when infected. And you look at you loved one, hold his/her hand and she/he's dying. Very sad indeed
I always felt this song was about Tobias brother that he lost. I find it a hard song to listen to because its so emotional.
I think this is the first time i've managed to bring myself to listen to Life Eternal again since my mum died last November.
Really sorry to hear about that
:/

Tobias is one hell of a song writer. How is the band not huge? Going to see them this fall!
Aren’t they already huge?!?

As I’ve been making studio covers of his songs I’ve gotten a deeper appreciation of his songwriting craft! The success is well deserved!

Oh and how he has to be ok with letting go of the one he loves.
Thankyou for this analogy, well done, except at the end Papa and his girlfriend are together. She looks like she recovered from what ever happened to her.
Letting go of his loved ones? When he tells the satanic little girls to leave.
Life Eternal is up there with my favourites from Ghost, something about it just gets me in my feels.
I've been waiting for a Pro memoria reaction! I'm so excited that you've tripped down the Ghost rabbit hole with the rest of the fandom
Me and my wife danced to this at our wedding, one of our favorite Ghost songs!
this song has so much emotion. i have heard it hundreds of times. i dont think i've ever made it through without teering up.

Fun fact, Helvetesfonster is actually the intro to Life eternal, its meant to be listen together for the full experience.
You have to remember that this is from Prequelle - an album about the plague, so yeah, it really is about a couple where one or both of them is dead or dying.
Ah, you actually talked about it haha. I gotta be more patient
This song might be about the brother of tobias. He died when their first album released
Praise the Sun

Is that the instrumental? Id like to try reviewing the score before listening. That’d be fun to discuss!

You already know this album is about the black plague. This is the last song so yes this is were the woman who he did bewitched in Dance Macabre dies.

He’s a vampire in this song yea?
It must be pretty cool not being able to make a bad song.
