I am getting a Chocolate Persimmon from Trees of Antiquity next year. I have never had Persimmon before. It stated 'superb' flavor, so that is what I went with.
Next to the office where I work here in GA, we have a wild American persimmon growing. The fruit it gives is barely over the size of a large cherry and it is seedy, 'cause a dozen of yards from it there's male persimmon tree growing as well. It's astringent AF if it's not jelly soft. But when it's jelly soft it's the most delicious persimmon I've ever had in my life. It has a somewhat caramel flavor with a hint of chocolate undertone. It's so good, I'm stratifying its seeds right now. 😂😂😂
Thank you for this information fun video. I am growing a Spanish variant of the Japanese variety, called Rojo brillante. This year is the first time it’s fruited for me 🤗
I really like Rojo Brillante because it's crunchy but I'm not sure if they will frozen in the winter in Bulgaria. I'm looking for other crunchy varieties. Have you compared other varieties with Rojo?
Yes, persimmons are an amazing fruit that many people don’t know about or have never eaten! But it’s outstanding!! Fuyu can be eaten in any stage, firm or as it’s softening, until it becomes a super soft, super sweet creamy pudding! You can freeze the soft creamy fruit to eat or to bake with at another time! I also bake with the crunchy stage & it’s outstanding!! The Asian culture also love & value Persimmons! They dry then whole for future consumption(great snack👍🏻🤗)!! **Trying to limit the birds & rodents is the biggest challenge of ALL!! Liset -- what does your family do to limit/discourage the birds & rodents? I would love your ideas!!
Hi, new subscribers I'm abosess with fruit trees. I'm currently starting my orchard in our 4 acres home. I'm also recording the progess. I would live to visit your farm.
Hi! I have a question. Where I live, we have two persimmon varieties that you can buy, and it seems to be Fuyu and Hichiya, but I have read and heard from many sources that the Fuyu is the one that can be eaten firm while the Hichiya has to be super soft, but in my experience it's the opposite? At least with the Hichiya looking one. It is astringent and bitter when unripe, yes, but when it gets some little brown spots (which I've heard is sugar culmulations?) but is still sorta firm, it is perfectly fine to eat. I prefer them firm. The peel is also edible on these. But I've always heard that the Hichiya can only be eaten soft, and people don't tend to et the peel. So this might be another variety, but I don't know which?
Persimmons always have leaves , the more leaves the more fruits but during the falls the leaves falls down only fruits is left, my friend has a tree , another person has about 75 plantation trees , my number one fruit in USA but it’s seasonal ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I would love to know how you take care of you persimmons from planting to harvest. What type of soil do they prefer? What fertilizers? How often do you water? Any special recommendations?
I liked this very much and thank you for your effort. I am from Egypt and I hope to meet you to see that tree in nature. What country are you from, my friend? And can I travel to you?
Hello Question… We have a five year old Fuyu tree. Last two years we’ll have flowers & become small fruit but eventually drop all of them. Baby fruit has brown on top. We live in California and it gets lots of sun. Is this normal to drop fruit?
Hello! Can you help me with some information about the persimmons (kaki) varieties that can adapt to Eastern Europe, Romania, where in winter we have an annual average temperature in our area of Găesti (postal code 135200) of -5 -10 degrees? I want to create a small orchard for family consumption! Thank you! Sincerely, Eduard Ion
I have a regular fuyu variety and i am not sure if its doing well...I am thinking its dormant but it does not have any branches. It is only the main branch. I have had the tree for one year so i am jot sure if it will make it? Any tips on young trees?
Hello, my fuyu tree is the same, it’s just the main branch and losing leaves. Ive only has the tree for a couple of months not a year yet. May I please ask has your fuyu tree grown yet?
Hi, I sell fresh fruit. The more people have inquired about buying persimmon trees, the more it's encouraged me to look into selling them. For the time being, if you'd like a fresh eating persimmon, Fuyu Persimmon varieties are excellent!
You keep saying how soft persimmons are for baking. They are as much for eating fresh as the hard ones are. When persimmons get soft, especially the astringent ones, they develop a better flavor than they have when they are still hard.
Hello! Fuyu persimmons do best in zones 7-10. Fuyu is a Japanese variety. However, there are American varieties that will be more tolerant of the cold in your zone 5. Here are a few links with info to help you grow some delicious persimmons :D Happy growing!! www.starkbros.com/products/fruit-trees/persimmon-trees/fuyu-asian-persimmon morningchores.com/growing-persimmons/
La variedad para comer sin necesidad de que este bien maduro es 'Fuyu" Usualmente, son redondos como una calabaza de Halloween, pero hay muchas variantes de "Fuyu".

I love persimmons. Specially when they are ripe. Thanks for your video, very instructive!
You are so welcome!

Wow . I like your presentation. Thanks for the information
Of course! Thank you for watching 💚
The thing that gives the persimons/kakis (family name is persimon, but the fruit name is kaki) the drymouth/astringent taste are called tannins.

I have been looking for the Spanish variant maybe aka vanilla persimmon. I have only seen and tasted them in Vancouver
Update, please. I just got some of these small trees. It will be a while before I get fruit. How did they ripen for you?

We hang up shiny strings that reflect lots of light to deter birds from eating them, but its hard to protect our fruit from animals 100%.
I love persimmon

Awww thank you! 💚
The regular fuyu persimmon is good for both as well. It’s taste like honey
Yes! For the past two years we've sold plenty of soft Fuyus and people love them for their sweetness.

The hachiya and the giombo are both astringent and are shaped like acorns, the giombo being the larger persimmon.

We have that happen when our soil is not properly prepped and/or too compacted.

No. Asian persimmons are zone 7 trees. Your best bet is to try selected American persimmon varieties.

How to grw
Chocolate persimmons are non-astringent
For the most part but it’s best to let them ripen more than regular Fuyus, from my experience ☺️
I want jiro persimmon in root stock
Please ditch the background music.
I liked it
