I’m a very visual person, and as I listen to these evocative descriptions, I definitely start imagining the saints, gods, and countryside. I’m wondering, what are your (anyone’s) feelings around AI image generation for non commercial applications? I haven’t touched the stuff, but I was just thinking it could be an interesting tool for running D&D. Just type in a few notes on a character or setting and get images in a consistent style to help tell your story 🤔
As always, language is the barrier, even with genie-like AI that can conjure something from nothing. Figuring out how to articulate what you want, and what you like, is really satisfying. Using it to generate tokens, landscapes, or even descriptions is really helpful. For text, I will sometimes use Chat GPT in the same way I use random name generators, usually I'll end up with a seed of something that becomes what I like once I work on it.
This looks like an awesome way of worldbuilding, I'm keen to try it. Since all of the spectra are on a scale of 1-6, I'd even be tempted to randomise it with a number of d6 rolls and look at how the different results can interplay to make some really unique cultures
