Hey Dr, do you recommend either of these treatments for rosacea, I have no scars but instead I have dehydrated skin and large pores, and obviously red skin, but I do feel like I need a new layer of smooth skin due to sun damage, would either of these treatments be suitable for reducing redness on rosacea sensitive skin?
Hi Hilly Hannouf, Laser treatment is usually appropriate for rosacea in people with a lighter skin tone, but an examination of your skin at its condition are needed before recommending a specific treatment plan for you. I hope this clarifies things for you.
So hi Dr. How are you? How much is procedure. Also, I have seen videos where fractional CO2 laser is done out of country. In Europe and Mexico. What do you think about this? Thank you
Hi Mariann DeSantis, We don’t have set costs for treatment as each patient has different needs, and some treatments are more extensive than others. It’s important to remember that the particular device does not determine results, but rather the experience and judgment of the doctor using the device. The device is just a tool, and it’s the doctor’s judgment using the tool that separates great results from ineffectiveness, or potential complications. It is possible for an experience doctor in Europe or Mexico to achieve great results, but if they lack experience and judgment, results can also suffer. You can contact our offices or our websites for a price range. Our offices are located in Manhattan, New York City which you can call at (212) 265-8877; Garden City, Long Island at (516) 742-4636; or Vienna, Virginia at (703) 356-1336. Hello sir, I'm from India. A month back met a cosmetic dermatologist near me for skin rejuvenation, my skin has old acne scares and sun burn but, i'm not having active acne on my face from past 1 year, but still my doctor suggested me to take Accutane therapy for a month at very low dosage of 10 mg only for night, on the same day i told my doctor that i don't want to see any marks, scares and sun burn area on my face for this the doctor told me that take Accutane for one month after a that she'll be explaining me abt laser treatment but through the browser i came to know that when a person is under Accutane therapy he or she should not go under laser treatment and i can take after 6 months post therapy. My question is ' i'm taking Accutane therapy from last one month can i under go laser treatment by stopping Accutane therapy or does it mandatory to wait for 6 months of post therapy. plz answer my sir
Hi Hemanth Sannamariyapa, I don't recommend aggressive skin treatments until about one year after you finish with Accutane because it does have systemic effects on your skin. I hope this clarifies things for you.
hello doctor I have a question what laser is best for stretch mark removal. erbium or fractional? i have it on my shoulders. I saw a video of a young lady with a little bit darker skin completion than me do a fractional and then changed to erbium laser with micro needling. I have dark medium skin completion and dont know what laser is best for my already old white stretch Marks on my shoulders. what laser do you think is best.
Hi Lisa s, It’s important to remember that the particular device does not determine results, but rather the experience and judgment of the doctor using the device. The device is just a tool, and it’s the doctor’s judgment using the tool that separates great results from ineffectiveness, or potential complications. An examination is needed to determine what can best help your situation. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Is non-ablative fractional erbium laser 1550nm also not going too deep in the skin? My derm advised 3-4 treatments with it and says the chance for volume loss is zero. I'm scared of volume loss still as i have extremely thin skin and face, and want the best possible laser with rejuvenation but the one that doesn't go too deep.
Hi Es3iya, It’s important to remember that the laser itself does not cause complications like facial volume loss, nor does it determine successful results, but rather the experience and judgment of the doctor using the laser or other device. The device is just a tool, and it’s the doctor’s judgment using the tool that separates great results from ineffectiveness, or potential complications. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Dr, how long does it take your skin to heal from pink skin after Er Yag? And can you do anothet laser session if your skin is still pink after 3 weeks post treatment?
Hi Vania Navarro, It depends on how aggressive your previous treatment was. I suggest you allow your skin to heal first, with the guidance of your doctor, before considering a timeline for the next treatment. I hope this helps you.
Hi,Dr Prasad, I am facing severe acne scarring including rolling ice pick and some minor keloid scars,a famous dermatologist suggested me only one session of ablative erbium yag laser 4mm deeper into my skin,is it safe procedure??can you help regarding this..
Hi sidra rajpoot, It isn't likely that a single treatment with a fully ablative laser will improve your acne scars, as acne scars normally take more than one treatment. I haven't examined your skin like your doctor has, but generally, fully ablative laser treatment is a high risk procedure, but the high risk can also have high rewards. I suggest you get a second opinion with a physical exam before deciding on a doctor. I hope this helps you.
I have a scar on the legs due to burn from cooking oil, it turns to be a white scar, does Erbium or Co2 lasers can treat my scar? If not, what kind of laser would be the best to treat it? Having a scar loses your confidence so I really want to get rid of it. Please answer me :((
Hi Aim Reyes, Sorry to hear about your problem. The extent of your scar needs to be evaluated. Lasers can be part of a treatment plan, which can also include topicals, as well as nutrition. You will need professional medical intervention to minimize the appearance of the scar. I hope this helps you.
Hi Vosya Ph, It depends on the device as I have both Erbium and CO2 lasers in my practice that can reach a similar depth. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Sorry but your answer is contradicted to your video explanation, you said to your video the thermal dept and heat for co2 laser penetrate deeper unlike erbium
Hi@@vosyaph2129, Sorry for the confusion, but as I answered, it depends on the device. This is a 5-year-old video, and I have gotten newer devices since then. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi Mehmet Erdem Genç, I can't determine the best treatment for you without examining your skin. Trust your doctor, and be prepared for several treatment sessions, and more than one mode of treatment as that's what is usually required for acne scar treatment. I hope this helps you.
Hi Eujin Kim, Overexposure from the CO2 laser can affect the fat layer, especially when someone wants a result from laser that can't be achieved, like a significant lifting effect. It's important to see a practitioner who knows the limits of laser treatment, and will not overuse it. It is possible for some fatty layer rehabilitation with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy. I hope this clarifies things for you.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD Hello, Dr Amyia Prassard. I am considering doing the fully ablative laser. I have already a very thin face, and I am worried about loosing fat. specially because apparently the effect carries on for years. I mean the fat layer dissolves with time. I am doing the procedure with a specialist, though. my question is can PRP rehabilitate fully the fat layer if it gets damaged? thank you so much for your kindness of sharing your knowledge.
Hi@@lucianesaid171, While PRP can help rehabilitate the essential fat layer, it may not fully reverse the effects of overheating and overexposure to a thermal device on the essential fat layer. It is the doctor who determines the results, or complications, not the device itself as it is just a tool. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Wasim Khan, Sorry to hear that. I would need to do a physical exam of your face before recommending a treatment, but laser is possibly a part of the treatment. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi tina n, The thickness of the epidermis and dermis depend on which part of the body. For example, eyelid skin is the thinnest skin in the body, but the cheeks have very thick skin; the top of the feet also have thin skin, but the sole of the foot has very thick skin. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi Fatou Jawaraa,
Festoons are skin folding over itself, so they are located close the surface of the skin. I hope this clarifies things for you.
