I have so much respect for you for your transparency. You deserve more listeners. People should listen to you more than some of these skin influencers that have no idea what they are promoting or atleast aware of the risk.
I was one day away, yesterday from putting a down payment on laser surgery. I cancelled the procedure. Thank you so much. I felt like the surgeon was condescending and treated me trivially. I'm doing much more research before I put my future well being at risk.
Hi karen Burn, While I do always recommend a good rapport with the surgeon before committing to surgery, their experience with laser treatments are the most crucial. I still perform laser procedures every day in my practice, but it's making the treatment safer for patients that separates different doctors and practitioners. I will be publishing a video this week about making laser treatment safer for patients, which I think will help you in planning your treatment.
I feel I can't question on different treatments. We are conditioned early on that"Doctor knows best" This is my life, not his. It's not about money. I want the best result on careful planning and research and have the opportunity to question on treatments. I'm not rich and can't afford to not choose wisely.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD I have also stopped smoking and drinking. I apply retin A every night and Vitamin C every day. I take magnesium and zinc tablets and vitamin D also
You're welcome,@@burney7418. It's important to find a doctor who you can trust, and wants what's best for you, not what's best for them. However, I understand that it's easier said than done.
I so appreciate your in-depth explanations of these procedures so many of us "mature" women are considering. I am just starting on this journey and agree that so many doctors don't consider long term affects. Love, love your videos!
After watching this video I have a better understanding about what is happening with skin heating devices and possible detrimental effects. I had never heard this before and it was a real eye opener. Also, bone loss causing slacking of skin was also something I had never heard of and makes perfect sense. Thank you for your professional integrity and honesty. As the saying goes, buyer beware.
I'm glad the video helped you, Andrea Vanda! However, keep in mind that the device does not determine results, but rather the experience and judgment of the doctor using the device. The device is just a tool, and it’s the doctor’s judgment using the tool that separates great results from ineffectiveness, or potential complications. I hope this clarifies things for you.
For those who go to skin clinics, they say you need this and you need that; this video could help get through to some people and make wise decisions instead of not been given time to think, then regret it afterwards. You explain everything so well and make it clear to understand, which stops the confusion from influencers so not to make a wrong move.
Thanks for the appreciation, Kevin Hanley! I make these videos so people can make better decisions about medical cosmetic procedures, so I'm really happy you see that.
I am 69 and am going to do the laser treatment to my lower lid. I had a lower lid surgery done 25 years ago and it still looks pretty good. So glad I did it. My surgeon is recommending the laser treatment when I go in to do my upper lids this time. He said I did not need a lower lid redone and that I had good skin. I attribute my good skin to an organic diet and adequade vit. D3 levels which I do think kept any bone facial loss to a minimum. I also stay out of the sun, but do not use make up or sunscreen. I do now use retinol and a good self tanner. I love your channel..thanks.
I’m 41 living in Brazil, and It happened to me! I could see lasers damaged my skin a lot. I asked the doctors here and they always deny it’s lasers treatments, but deep inside of me I feel that. Now I have no idea what to do 😞 Thank you so much for all this information 🙏🏽
Hi T Oliver, You're welcome! Sorry to hear about your problem. You can look for doctors in your area who use platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and consider skin rehabilitation for your damaged skin. I hope this helps you.
Olá! Tudo bem?
Thank you so much for this informative presentation. I was planning to have some type of laser treatment in hopes of improving the loose skin on my neck that developed after weight loss. I'm often told I look much younger than my age (54), but I see the signs of facial aging that you would expect for someone in their mid fifties. I thought that a laser treatment would be a substitute for a face lift/neck lift to get rid of the "turkey neck" and the jowls that have become visible after losing weight. I thought it could also tighten my very droopy upper eyelids non surgically. I see now that I can't risk any fat loss, as my face has already lost a lot of it's round softness. Listening to your presentation has really made me stop and consider what I hope to gain from undergoing a potentially damaging cosmetic procedure. I can't imagine the heartbreak of having a procedure only to look worse than when I started.
You're welcome, Donna Colwell. While the results or complications from thermal treatments are determined more by the doctor using the device, rather than the device itself, complications are common when forcing a laser to replace surgical lifting. You can refer to this video about it - ua-cam.com/video/Z5lx39-c0sE/v-deo.html
This is such a great segment. I had lines around my lips and a cobblestone look on my chin due to skin laxity. I had a face lift and neck lift but they did not fully address these issues. So he did fully ablative old school laser and basically burned the skin he was looking to fix. Even tho he had applied a numbing serum beforehand, I was in excruciating pain as he seered my skin which is pale and sensitive. Guess what. I am now 3 months since the laser was done, and my skin has still not healed. So my assumption is it won't. I'm going back to see him next week. My husband is really upset with him about what he did. We were quite shocked at the results. And I am still saddened by the outcome. I wish he had your level of knowledge, even tho he is a board certified head and neck surgeon. I was fine with the face lift, and only wanted to tweak the area of my face that wasn't addressed by my surgery. Thank you so much Doctor for this informative segment. I learned a lot.
Hi Denise Paulsen, So sorry to hear about your problem with your previous treatment, but I'm happy the video helped you. I make these videos so people can be better informed to make better decisions about cosmetic procedures. I have done videos about treatment of vertical lip lines, and chin dimpling, which are actually both treatable non-surgically with Botox, as well as careful use of lasers for vertical lip lines. You can check out the videos: ua-cam.com/video/ZVb57Amvt1w/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/0szfRPrWr4c/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/ay4Otw-RBCE/v-deo.html
I applaud your honest, ethical and professional recommendations and only wish more people in the field had similar qualities , sigh... I am a hospital clinical pharmacist and have learned much through your videos , thank you for being educational and caring ! Btw, “ fat is nature’s filler “, I say , ha ha. So, I once heard an easily understood explanation of volume/ bone loss: it’s like having a beautiful form fitting dress and then losing 30 pounds. The dress will hang loosely and sag , but it’s the structural/ weight loss underneath that is the culprit. So....next major advance needed: prevention ! ( sigh.....) Looking forward to more videos, thanks!
Thanks for your appreciation, Angela! Volume loss due to aging is not necessarily weight loss, but rather diminishment of solid support structures, which is mostly bone, but also includes fat, soft tissue, muscle, and even the skin that thins with age. Yes, fat is a natural filler, but unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, grafted fat needs a blood supply to maintain its volume, and fat doesn't retain a predictable shape once removed from its original blood supply. Fillers do maintain a consistent shape, and don't need blood to remain viable. Not trying to argue with you, just letting you know. Thanks for watching!
@@AmiyaPrasadMD To clarify, I didn’t mean grafted fat, I just meant a little extra “ natural fat” ; thin people at middle age tend to look a bit older vs. those who carry a few extra pounds. Just my observation. Love your approach of using longer acting fillers at bone level- anyways, thanks !
Hi@@Ayyeliki, Oh, sorry for the confusion. You are right that slimmer faces can look a bit older due to a lack of fat volume. Thanks for the compliment!
Literally crying listening to this... I have orange peel skin on my t-zone and have tried everything to get rid of it. I spent thousands of dollars on laser and fractora to only leave me with more disappointments...I now have hyperpigmentation, melasma and more large pores... ive stopped trusting dermatologists as they always tell me to try with another procedure...I'm am so depressed.
Sorry to hear about your problem, Sa B. I try to put these videos out to help people avoid complications, and make better decisions about cosmetic procedures. For skin rehabilitation, I often perform PRP treatments, which is a material derived from your own blood with healing and growth factors for restoration, and it is not an aggressive treatment. While I understand why you want to avoid further procedures, I would have to examine you to see what can best help your situation. I hope this helps you.
Same thing happened to me @sab4895. The med spa Synergi acted like it was impossible and that they never heard of this happening to anyone and then used the qswitch on me which I feel damaged further. Needless to say I don't go there anymore. I'm sorry you had same experience. I don't get any laser treatments anymore.
Thank you for speaking on this! I am 30d out from a NeoGen Plasma with 3.0j around eyes, 1.5-2.0 elsewhere. The tear troughs are now more visible than ever…. and as you mentioned in a previous video, my 2016/2017 tear trough filler migrated to about the malar area (blue, watery bags). I’ve had those injected with hyaluronidase, and while that is now gone, the hollows and crepey skin make me appear worse than ever. I’m going to see a local plastics person here, hoping to avoid the need for a bleph at this point.
Hi Meredith Good, You're welcome! Hollowness and crepey skin under the eyes are usually not treated with surgery (unless you have a tear trough implant placed). You can refer to these videos about treating the under eye area safely: ua-cam.com/video/U7kJ4CMcJ0A/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/PXMhY90TReM/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/VzzsbNDlaHQ/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/Q0QiNH7LUVI/v-deo.html
I genuinely appriciate your straightforwardness. My skin was harmed by an IPL treatment. I've been using a product called, "Psoria Gold" Which apparently haults inflammation of the skin after heat damage, lasers, etc - inhibiting phosphorylase kinase. PH-K induces scars, wrinkling of the skin, etc. Sadly, once scarring is there after these laser and IPL devices, it's tough to get your skin to where it was previously at. Some people had results after many months using this product... It's like waiting for the flames to finally die down before the healing can begin. I am definetly inerested in PRP once hopefully my inflammation goes down... Again, thank you SO much for your straightforwardness. If only I seen your video before I got the "treatment..." :(
Hi S, Sorry to hear about your experience. I have an older video about volume loss due to excessive laser treatment, as it is important for people to know that thermal device treatments can be effective, but overuse or improper use can lead to fat damage and volume loss. I hope your rehabilitation does go well, and feel free to contact us if you would like us to help you with it.
Thankful to come across your channel before I blindly rush in to a CO2 treatment. I had my face threaded almost a year ago and was very disappointed that it didn’t address my main concern which is the deep wrinkles around my mouth and above my lips. She injected a filler but I don’t see much improvement. She also suggested a half face lift but I read that it wouldn’t address mouth wrinkles and that a co2 laser treatment would. Came across your channel and I’m back to square one. I certainly don’t want it to look worse. Thank you for your informative video.
You're welcome, Ann! I'm glad you found the video informative. It’s important to remember that the laser itself does not cause complications like facial volume loss, nor does it determine successful results, but rather the experience and judgment of the doctor using the laser or other device. The device is just a tool, and it’s the doctor’s judgment using the tool that separates great results from ineffectiveness, or potential complications. That said, fillers, and lasers can help treat lines around the mouth. I made this video about, for your reference ua-cam.com/video/B1IBbQH3HAQ/v-deo.html
Sorry to hear about your problem, Persephone White. Keep in mind it's the practitioner who determines results with their experience and judgment, with the device being just the tool they use.
What about concerns for spreading of dermal fillers after placement? I believe there was recent evidence showing that over time as the treated areas "deflate" again, rather than being reabsorbed systemically, these hyaluronic acid fillers actually disseminate throughout the face, leading to that unnaturally plump appearance we often see.
Hi Alyssa Stram, MD, You can refer to this video about how I avoid the pillowy look from dermal fillers by placing the filler at the bone level rather than the fat or soft tissue space - ua-cam.com/video/Brb4uTzzG88/v-deo.html
Dr P. Is it safe you use CO2 for eye lid tightening? Is there a risk a fat loss and hollowness after a treatment like this. What is a safe setting for this procedure. I have had some laser treatments on my face in the past. Thank goodness I did not notice any thing negative. But if I had known what I know now I never would have had any laser treatments on my face.
Hi minky cat, It’s important to understand that results, or complications are determined by the judgment, experience, and skill of the doctor or practitioner using the device, not the device itself. If you haven't had problems in the past, and you found treatment effective, then you had a good doctor. I hope you understand that I can recommend settings without examining your issue, and skin type first. You can refer to this video about it - ua-cam.com/video/kZuz3PoTi0I/v-deo.html
It is so fun learning your knowledge and approach from your videos! My current skin goal is to tighten for plump, glowy and even toned look. I am almost 40 and my skin seems uneven, dull and saggy. I hope to eventually quit using cosmetic products like foundation and concealers. The Skin booster sounds interesting. Is this suitable for someone looking for a long term effects? Do you think that the weight of Hyaluronic acid after introduced into dermis may sag the skin in my amateur opinion? Thank you for your help, Dr. Prasad.
Hi xoxovoodooo, Skin Boosting is for skin quality improvement, hydration, and moisturization. The hyaluronic acid used in Skin Boosting is for retaining and attracting moisture in the skin, not for volume like hyaluronic acid fillers. You can refer to this video about appropriate treatments for the first signs of facial aging - ua-cam.com/video/YCwf5d9y1X0/v-deo.html
Hi Dr. Amiya, thank you for the informative video! Can microneedling with PRP essentially cause the same damage as laser even though there is not heat involved? I had 5 microneedling sessions all done about 3-6 months apart. At first, they seemed to help my skin, but after about the 3rd one I'd say my skin got worse and worse. Now it looks like an orange peel/pink undertones. The last one I had was a year ago and I've since tried to heal my skin with various ceramide creams, but to limited success. Are the techniques used to correct laser damage the same for microneedling damage? I am considering flying out to see you to see if my skin can be helped, if it can be helped. I live in Texas. Thank you so much for your time!
Hi Lauren B, Overly aggressive microneedling can cause scarring, disruption of oil glands, and since your skin was likely problematic prior to treatment, aggressive microneedling could have possibly made it worse. The techniques for skin rehabilitation for aggressive microneedling or laser treatment are similar, but an examination is needed before I can make specific treatment modalities for you. I hope this clarifies things for you.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD Thank you so much for your time in answering my question! I really appreciate it. I thought of one more question I have that I meant to ask, is getting treatment for the damage time sensitive? As in, does it become more difficult to treat as time goes on?
Hi@@whoategimpywalter, Treatment or skin rehabilitation can be time sensitive depending on the degree and type of damage from your initial treatment. I can't say for sure unless I examine your skin. I hope this helps you.
Hi Dr. Amiya Prasad, thank you so much for your integrity and your informational videos. I would like to ask you if you would recommend PRP/PRF for skin rejuvenation (reducing the signs of sun damage and skin laxity) over fractional CO2-laser? I realize that PRP/PRF is not going to create radical tightening of the skin but I assume it might perhaps induce a bit of elasticity/collagen for a better quality of the skin. I am somewhat afraid of fractional CO2-laser in case it might damage my skin or cause fat loss. The laxity of my skin is caused by recurrent edema of the face (over decades) so I don't think it is due to bone/volume loss and therefore not treatable with fillers. Thank you for your help.
Hi @Anne..... , It's actually not an either/or situation as I often alternative treatment sessions between thermal devices, and PRP/PRF so there is still collagen stimulation, but reduced exposure to heat. You can refer to this video about it - ua-cam.com/video/kZuz3PoTi0I/v-deo.html
I’ve had several skin peels and laser treatments. The results have been dramatic at times but usually just give me a fresher look. I have always used a qualified plastic surgeon or dermatologist. I’ve bought a home device but I’ll be careful to stick to the functions that stimulate rather than risk damage! I do exercises to lessen bone loss and it seems to help.
Hi @rosemarykennedy5430, That's great to hear. You can refer to this more recent video about how laser treatments can be done more safely - ua-cam.com/video/kZuz3PoTi0I/v-deo.html
Hi Doctor! Thanks for all the information and replies. I'm 23 and from Brazil. Sadly I had a very bad experience with 3 sessions of IPL and red LED therapy for rosacea and acne, and laser hair laser for beard lines. The certified dermatologist had vast experience in technologies, but I was under photosensitive medications, including low dose Accutane in the third session prescribed by her, and wasn't advised by any risks. My skin was already sensitive too. It's been two months now. First came the redness and swelling, and burning sensation. Then area around nose peeled. Later on came de fat loss and weird texture. Having a hard time trying to figure out what to do now. Derms that I went to don't really recognize the damaged caused. PRP is not a liberated practice in Brazil for now, so doctors who practice it are not under the regulation practice. Looking forward to have a consultation with you, but going to NY is now problematic due to visa authorization time delay. I'm 2 months post damage and still seeing skin worsening. How long after the laser damage PRP is recommended? I'm running against time right now? Which other techniques my be useful in my skin rehabilitation?
Hi Alexandre Duarte Iusim, Sorry to hear about your problem. Aggressive thermal treatments shouldn't be done while on isotretinoin because of the fragility of the skin while on the drug, but it may be late to correct that. PRP may help with skin rehabilitation, and it carries little risk since it's not an aggressive treatment. I would have to examine your situation for more specific recommendations, but I do suggest you seek PRP doctors in your area. Just make sure they are carrying out their their treatments under a sterilized and stringent setting because as you say, they are not fully regulated. I hope this helps you.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD Hi Doctor, I need ur honest advice . I want to have a co2 laser resurfacing or halo laser for my skin dullness, acne scars, some mild wrinkles and melasma that I got from microneedling. But I am very afraid of fat lost, and worsen malasma. I’m 30 What would u recommend?
Hi @@ayshahhaydari8841, I hope that after watching this video, and from your personal experience that making treatment recommendations without a proper examination of your skin, and the issues you want treated, can result in complications from treatment. I would need to examine your skin, and the issues you want treated before I can safely make treatment recommendations for you. I hope this helps you.
Dr Prasad, I just watched this video of 2019. Hope it is not too late to ask you a question. I have come across the NeoGen Plasma treatment. It is presented as a good thing, but is it really? I am tempted to have it done. Do you know about this treatment and what do you think about it?
Hi Sylvia Heinemann, I don't use the NeoGen Plasma treatment in my practice, but it’s important to understand that results are determined by the judgment, experience, and skill of the doctor or practitioner using the device, not the device itself. I hope this clarifies things for you.
You're welcome, Nora Truong. Thanks for watching! I do have a companion video to this about making laser treatments safer, for your reference - ua-cam.com/video/kZuz3PoTi0I/v-deo.html
I am in my 60's and recently lost 12 pounds due to stopping eating sugar and it caused verticle wrinkles on my sides of the face. I went to a doctor to explore some options and one of the least invasive was : co2 cool peel for my skin damage/brown spots and Virtue RF ( microneedling) a series of three treatments. I now wonder if I do get the treatments - if they will tighten the skin or actually cause more fat loss/laxity? Your thoughts.? I love your explanations and videos!
Hi Kathy Yoest, It’s important to remember that the particular device does not determine results, but rather the experience and judgment of the doctor using the device. The device is just a tool, and it’s the doctor’s judgment using the tool that separates great results from ineffectiveness, or potential complications. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Sorry doc, i have a few other questions (or to anyone else who knows the answers) What is a microinfusion device? would this be like a very gentle microneedle stamp? Also, i heard that PRF is superior to PRP is that true in this situation, or is PRP better suited for healing from laser/thermal device-related damage? Thank you very much in advance to anyone who can reply...
Hi Emma Seabuckthorn, A microinfusion device is like a gentler form of microneedling, which can be used to deliver hyaluronic acid, and PRP into the skin, which we call in our practice Skin Boosting. PRP is more appropriate for this device as PRF would be too thick to enter into the microchannels. PRF, as well as PRP, can still be effective in restoring the essential fat layer under the skin that may have been affected prolonged, or excessive thermal treatment, as shown in the video. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Dr. Prasad, Excellent video. I have an upcoming appointment for Fraxel Laser facial resurfacing with a dermatologist in California. I’ve just recently heard of the dangers of fat and facial volume loss due to laser. Do you think this is a risk of Fraxel specifically? Are there any questions I can ask my dermatologist before moving forward? Thank you so much for your work and this very helpful, informative content!
Hi @JediBunny, Thank you for watching! You should be asking your dermatologist about what they do during laser treatment to avoid complications. You can refer to this video about it - ua-cam.com/video/kZuz3PoTi0I/v-deo.html
Hi Mtntm5, Damage can come from any thermal treatment that is overly aggressive. Redness and peeling are most often just normal healing, and a new skin layer coming in. I still do laser treatments in my practice, but I explain clearly to patients prior to the procedure the limits and expectations so we don't get into overly aggressive range of treatment. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Thank you, doctor. I have an appointment to have fillers in my cheeks and nasolabial folds, but I'm concerned the filler will migrate. And I love my cheekbones the way they are. I was thinking Ultherapy would be a good alternative, but you would suggest filler instead?
Hi Hattie Lott, I would have to examine you before making specific treatment recommendations, but you can refer to this video about how I perform facial filler treatment at the bone level, with filler held in place by the muscle layer to prevent migration and a puffy appearance - ua-cam.com/video/Brb4uTzzG88/v-deo.html
Hi N Ek, I don't recommend collagen supplements as they are a bit deceptive. Your body synthesizes collagen from a healthy diet of all types of food. If you eat collagen, it doesn't mean it stays as usable collagen once you digest it. Collagen supplements are digested like other food, and the body still breaks it down before synthesizing and processing the nutrients it needs. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Thank you for this video! I have thermal damage from laser treatment for acne scarring. The mental fall out has been horrific, I hardly leave my house anymore. Can you recommend anyone in the UK to do the treatments that you mention in this video please?
Dr. Prasad, thank you for the amazing video. Do you think fractional CO2 laser is recommended for the treatment of old (white) stretch marks? Since mine are on the legs, volume loss would not be an issue I believe. If not, what in your opinion is the best treatment for old, very wide and very deep (due to Cortisone and weight gain) stretchmarks? Thank you
Hi Marina Koleva, Fractional CO2 laser is a possible treatment for stretch marks on the legs, but I would have to examine the issues before recommending specific treatments. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Doctor. I’m reaching out to see what your thoughts are on my tricky situation. Many doctors weren’t clear in their replies and I appreciate your attention to detail. Your answer would mean a lot to me. 3 years ago I had hyaluronidase which ruined my tissues on my left cheek. Over the past three years I’ve been doing facial acupuncture and some demean filler here and there to help. These things over time helped some however there was still some skin sagging. Recently, I decided to try Forma rf laser as I read about temp control and safety. I had two sessions 5 weeks apart. The second one, she showed me the temp was 40 degrees as I was really nervous. I notice now my left anterior cheek (close to temple) is more depleted looking while everything else is looking and feeling lifted. I know- I must have the worst luck. Questions: -Can fat loss occur in just one area with laser despite being done all over the face + is what I see now what I get or can other areas still get worse? - she said she did 15 mins on both sides but I feel one side was longer than the other. More like 20 and 10. Would 40 degrees over cheek and jaw for 20 mins cause fat loss? I’m losing some sleep over this. Any insight would be very much appreciated.
Hi Kyalla B, 40 degrees is a good temperature for treatment. We aim for between 42 to 45 degrees for skin tightening, and fat reduction, with time of exposure changing for the individual patient, and what they want treated. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Thank you. Just to make sure I don’t do any more damage, can I do microneedling with anteage growth factors to help my skin at this point? It’s offered in my town as well as prp but I’m only seeing it with microneedling delivery.
Hi@@kyallab610, I hope you understand that I can't recommend a specific treatment for you without examining your skin, and the issues you want treated. Just like laser treatments, the results of microneedling are determined by the doctor's experience and skill, not by the device itself. I hope this helps you.
Hi doctor! I appreciate your honest reviews. If I ever get a chance to visit the United States, I will definitely go and consult with you. May I ask what your opinion on the Picosure laser for reducing pores is? Would you recommend it or would it cause damage to my skin? I'm in my mid twenties. Thank you!
Hi nn beast, Thanks for your appreciation, and thanks for watching! It’s important to remember that the particular device does not determine results, or causes complications, but rather the experience and judgment of the doctor using the device. The device is just a tool, and it’s the doctor’s judgment using the tool that separates great results from ineffectiveness, or potential complications. While I don't use the Picosure laser, I do use a Q Switch laser for minimizing pores. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Dr. Amiya Prasad, Thank you so much for the clear and helpful video! I hope to get an appointment with you during my next trip to NYC. Would this apply to at home radio frequency devices? I'm in my 30's and noticing my jowls are started to sag and smile lines are becoming very prominent. I'm rethinking the at home radio frequency device because I do not want to lose facial fat. As you mentioned in your video, I feel that many practitioners are acting out of self interest and ensuring that radio frequency home devices cannot cause facial fat loss. Are micro current home devices any better? Thank you!!
Hi Ouliana Gavrilkina, Overheating from any device can potentially cause tissue damage. It’s important to understand that results, or complications are determined by the judgment, experience, and skill of the doctor or practitioner using the device, not the device itself. You can refer to this video about it - ua-cam.com/video/kZuz3PoTi0I/v-deo.html
Can you have ACell injected after having Sculptra?I went to an aesthetic place to have PRF injected due to the fat loss after Thermage was performed on my face at a LaserAway location. However, the nurse convinced me to get Sculptra to rebuild the collagen. So, I had that instead. I noticed a lot of improvement by week 3. Unfortunately, a topical I put on my face caused inflammation that has lasted for weeks (this inflammation lasting for weeks due to topicals didn’t start until after radio frequency, Thermage, done at LaserAway) and now the collagen or volume/results I was seeing from Sculptra are gone. Sculptra seems great, but I think my face might need to heal first from the radio frequency treatment.
Hi Susan, Extracellular matrix by ACell is generally not an injectable treatment of facial volume, or skin quality improvement. I do use extracellular matrix for healing incisions. tissue regeneration, and for hair loss treatment. I hope you understand that I would have to examine your face, as well as review your medical records of past treatments before I can recommend the appropriate treatment(s) for you. I hope this helps you.
Thanks so much for replying to me. I know it's been 4 months, sorry, lol. I have another question for you. Can PRF or PRP help your body to create more fat cells (I know you stated PRP can help the surviving fat cells), but could it help the face over time to create or pull more fat cells to the area?@@AmiyaPrasadMD
Hi@@Susan-nb3ep, Fat cells that are lost are lost permanently, and cannot be created. However, as explained at 10:33 of the video, the health and volume of surviving fat cells can be improved with PRP or PRF. I hope this clarifies things for you.
I've had lasers done but have only seen minimal results in terms of volume. My skin quality has improved more than anything else. Would sculptra injected into the deeper dermis restore volume?
Hi Chris King, Lasers are for improving skin quality, not improving volume. Volume loss occurs from overheating the skin to the point that fat under the skin is affected. Sculptra relies on a biological reaction to create volume, so results can be unpredictable. Hyaluronic acid fillers are more predictable in results and shape, which I place at the bone level to prevent migration, a puffy appearance, and for more defined results. You can refer to this video about it - ua-cam.com/video/yAkSKa5lgcE/v-deo.html
Hi@@chrisking6695, While I would need to examine your situation before recommending treatment, the video does feature options for treatment like PRP to help heal surviving fat cells, fillers to make up lost volume, and Skin Boosting to help with skin damage. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Emma Seabuckthorn, Renuva is a type of fat grafting, as it is derived from adipose (fat) tissue from the patient's own body. Extracellular matrix is advanced wound healing material derived from porcine bladder due to its remarkable regenerative properties, which was originally used by the US military before civilian medicine. I hope this clarifies things for you.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD Awesome doctor, thanks for the reply. I feel I may have slight facial fat loss from one potenza (rf microneedling) treatment. I dont want to do anymore treatments and im hoping that i still have youuth on my side...I am 28 so is it possible for the facial fat to heal itself do you think?
Hi@@emmathomsonsmith, The problem with essential fat damage is that fat cells that are lost are permanently lost. The extent of your damage is not known to me as I have not examined your issue. However, as shown in the video, it is possible for regenerative treatments like PRP or PRF to improve the existing essential fat layer, and improve the volume of the remaining fat cells just below the skin. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hello Dr. Prasad. What do you think about the at home facial tool newa. They say that it builds collagen but it doesn't go deep enough to melt the fat. Is this device good?
Hi Renee Jones, The effectiveness of professional and at home devices are dependent on the experience of the person using them, so I generally don't recommend at home devices because training and experience with them are limited. I hope this helps you.
Hi Amy, PRP can help improve the essential fat layer under the skin, as well as the thickness of the skin from fat and skin volume loss due to aggressive thermal treatments. PRP cannot treat volume loss due to bone mass, soft tissue, other fat, and muscle diminishing due to aging, so a filler treatment is needed for more significant facial volume loss due to aging. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Lorraine from Miami, My thoughts on any device are the same - it's not the device that determines results, but the practitioner choosing and using it based on their experience and expertise. The problem with home use devices is that most people aren't trained to use them, so they can damage their skin. I hope this clarifies things for you.
From watching this I became concerned that my at home Newa rf device could cause fat loss. But from reading your comments I gather it would only occur from overheating and aggressive treatment. The device times you to 4minutes per area and they say the temperature / depth of treatment doesn't reach the fat layer. Do you think it is still safe to use?
Hi Linda Peckett, The problems with home based devices are that people using them are not trained or experienced in proper use, and the instructions are vague. Also, most people using them are not aware of proper healing between treatments. There are too many possible variables in use for me to say that these devices are safe to use at home. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Zainab A, Costs vary due to differences in the extent of treatment, and the experience and expertise of the doctor performing it. If you want to save money by going to a less experienced practitioner, then you could pay a lot more in revision and restoration procedures. Remember, putting money into your appearance is an investment. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Great informative video. May I ask what you think of forma facials? I’m 34 and experience slight sagging and thinning of the skin in areas of the face… I’m wondering given there’s an auto regulation of heat via the radio frequency used in forma facials seems relatively safe and what possible adverse reactions could occur? Do you think volume loss may occur? Thanks!
Hi Van Khanh, While I don't use Forma in my practice, but do use a radiofrequency device called Pelleve, it’s important to remember that the particular device does not determine results, or causes complications, but rather the experience and judgment of the doctor using the device. The device is just a tool, and it’s the doctor’s judgment using the tool that separates great results from ineffectiveness, or potential complications. Hi Rohit Kumar, Sorry to hear about your problem, but there is no one treatment that applies to everyone, and every skin type to treat acne scars. In Moscow doctors offer Endoret or Regen Lab cellular matrix. Which one is better? 2. How many plasma sessions are needed and with which interval? Thank you so much!
Hi katieweiss07, I don't use those devices in my practice, but it’s important to understand that results, and avoiding complications are determined by the judgment, experience, and skill of the doctor or practitioner using the device, not the device itself. I hope this clarifies things for you.

I had PRP put on my skin face approx. 30-45 minutes after I had had CO2 laser treatement. When can I have another PRP done? Is one week enough or it's better to wait a bit longer?
Hi Sylwia Wyrobek, Depending on the extent of laser treatment, I usually administer PRP after the laser on the same day, and give some time for healing, and results to appear, usually 3-6 months before considering another PRP treatment. This does vary depending on the area being treated, so a more specific recommendation can be given in an examination with consultation. I hope this helps you.
How many treatments of Fractional 6 weeks apart would you recommend? I am not having it done to diminish wrinkles, more for tighter pores and skin tone
Hi SEMI PERFECT LIZ, I hope you understand that an examination of your skin, and your skin type are needed before treatment is recommended, especially since CO2 laser may not be the right device at all for your skin type, and for tightening pores, as well as skin toning. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Dr Prassad. I have been badly damaged by one morpheus8 treatment 5 months ago. I have fat atrophy and skin tissue atrophy, indents and scarring to my forehead, chin, temples. The doctor has denied the damage. Im looking to rehabilitate my skin. Skin is waxy and enlarged pores and forehead skin very thin. Im scarred to have prp injected. Im looking to have prp but would rather have it microchanneled in then injected to try to repair and rehabilitate. I think my dermis has been damaged. Would prp and HA microchanneled in as its less aggressive be a good option please.
Hi Nichola Ronnquist, Sorry to hear about what happened to you. If you suspect deeper damage to the dermis, and possibly the fat layer beneath the dermis, then PRP with microchannel treatments would not reach as deep as injections. If you can't come see us for an evaluation, I suggest you find a doctor experienced with PRP for use in skin and tissue rehabilitation . I hope this helps you.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD thank you so much for your advice. I wish I could come to New York but I live in the UK. Out of interest do you practice prf now as I hear PRF is a step on from PRP. Many thanks. Your such a wonderful doctor. If only we had more ethical surgeons like yourself. Kind regards
Thank you so much for your kind words,@@nicholaronnquist6863. They are very much appreciated. I have administered PRF as long as I've administered PRP, but I be publishing some new videos on PRF that is thickened without the calcium chloride activator soon. @@AmiyaPrasadMD thank you so much for your response and I will await to see a new video about it. Thanks for your video …. What about fotona frac ? I am 39 and booked in for 1st session The place has a qualified plastic surgeon who isn’t the one performing the treatment but one the nurses is Now I’m concerned it may cause fat loss? I want some tightening and also pigment removal I did ask for co2 laser but they said my skin was at the stage where they felt it was needed Any advice would be appreciated 🙏
Hi Kat MAC 83, It’s important to remember that the laser itself does not cause complications like facial volume loss, nor does it determine successful results, but rather the experience and judgment of the doctor using the laser or other device, or in your case, the nurse. The device is just a tool, and it’s the doctor’s judgment using the tool that separates great results from ineffectiveness, or potential complications. Although I have several nurse assistants in my practice, I am the one who performs laser or thermal treatments. You can refer to this video about it - ua-cam.com/video/kZuz3PoTi0I/v-deo.html
Doctor, thank you for your informative video. Do Nuface and Newa cause face fat loss? I’ve been using both for a week now. I need your advice before it’s too late..
Hi, It’s important to remember that the particular device does not determine results, but rather the experience and judgment of the doctor using the device. The device is just a tool, and it’s the doctor’s judgment using the tool that separates great results from ineffectiveness, or potential complications. If you are using them at home, not sure if they cause fat loss, and used them multiple times in just a week without recovery time, then you likely do not have sufficient experience in using thermal devices, so I advise you have thermal treatments done by an experienced doctor. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Amiya Prasad, M.D. thank you for your reply. I used them as directed. They are intended to be used at home.... does Microcurrent and RF (maximum heat 41 c) cause fat loss?
Hi, I still don't recommend home use thermal devices because the instructions don't cover the nuances of use for different issues, skin types, age, exposure time, etc.
Hi Rhonda Bower, Sorry to hear about your problem. PRP may help with your fat loss due to proper treatment, as well as with the skin damage. An examination is needed determine what is best for you, as well as your updated medical records, but we can likely treat you safely even with your autoimmune condition. I hope this clarifies things for you.
I had thermage about 2.5 years ago and it aged me over 15 years. It drastically reduced my collagen and left me looking much worse. I went to use it on my chin because dieting wasn’t enough to tighten the fat that remained. Except they recommend while I was having the procedure to do my face and they said it will help “maintain” my appearance (which at the time I was routinely mistaken for about 15 years younger and had no wrinkles or volume loss). I was convinced to do 3 treatments and wait for the results in about 6 months to a year. Except, those positive results never cams and negative results is what I got. I’ve felt devastated and don’t know what to do to help get back some of what I lost.

@@AmiyaPrasadMD Thanks for the reply, I’ll checkout the link you posted. I was considering a fat transfer instead of fillers, do you think that may be an option and do you have any recommendations for a good doctor in the Chicago area?
Hi there doctor, i had microdermabrasion and after microdermabrasion I had led organe light therapy for 13 minutes. I was wondering if the L. E. D Orange light therapy will cause volume loss.
Hi RADIO AUSTRALIA, It’s important to understand that results, or complications are determined by the judgment, experience, and skill of the doctor or practitioner using the device, not the device itself. You can refer to this video about it - ua-cam.com/video/kZuz3PoTi0I/v-deo.html
Dr Prasad, you mention about your TrichoStem method and say that when skin quality improves, hair quality also improves. Can you eleborate what is meant by hair quality? Does this increase the thickening of hair strands. Or increasing more hair in terms of quantity? Or does the hair becomes shinier or stronger? Thanks.
Hi, TrichoStem Hair Regeneration is a treatment for male and female pattern hair loss, which thickens thinning hair, and stimulates growth from hair follicles that are still viable but not growing. The treatment cannot revive dead hair follicles. Hi, Thank you for this. I've used tripollar device for home use and now have thinned my face and more wrinkles shows, it also caused som indentations and hyperpigmentation in the skin and made scars show more. Can this heal by it self or do you have any suggestion on what I can do, I'm so sad. :( I used the machine two times and this caused all of this. Thank you for existing here 🙏🌹
Hi Michelle Nilsson, Sorry to hear that. Complications are usually not caused by the device itself, but the experience needed in handling thermal devices, which is why I generally don't recommend thermal devices be used at home. I would have to examine your skin before making specific recommendations for you for treatment, but you can review the video more closely for guidance in skin rehabilitation. I hope this clarifies things for you.
thanks for the info. Dr I had laser done a year and a half ago with significant volume loss then some RF two weeks ago for skin tightening and now have more. Can it ever repair itself or is it too late. My self esteem is greatly diminished and now suffer severe anxiety. Would you recommend fat transfer over filler? The RF was only about 2 weeks ago..does it keep melting over the next few months or should it stop now? Please let me know
Hi Dani Elle, Sorry to hear about your problem. Volume loss from overheating or overexposure occurs at the time of treatment, with damage being noticed after any post-treatment swelling resolves, but it doesn't mean damage continues after you stop treatment. I would have to examine your situation in consultation before giving specific treatment recommendations for you, but you can refer to the video for general guidance about treatment, such as PRP to help rehabilitate the essential fat layer. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi @khanyathid, Picosecond, and Q Switch lasers are similar in that they don't go to the depth of the fat layer, and are used in short duration exposure, so they don't have the same risk with volume loss. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi socalgirlable, I would evaluate your eye bags, under eye wrinkles, and your skin first to determine the right treatments for you. Your eye bags may be too prominent to camouflage with filler, and laser may not be right for your skin type. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Dr, thanks so much for this video. I also see progressing volume loss on my face after I had HIFU (ultraformer3) six weeks ago. Is it too late to start PRP treatment now to restore fat and volume? Would you recommend PRP injection to the dermis or cellular matrix PRP into the fat layer under dermis?
Hi Tiffany Chang, Sorry to hear about your problem. It's not too late to start PRP treatment, but my exact approach for you would depend on a proper examination first before a specific mode of treatment. I actually don't use high frequency ultrasound devices in my practice because temperature rises suddenly instead of gradually, so I have more control with lasers or radiofrequency devices. I hope this clarifies things for you.
You mentioned wanting to not cause trauma to skin that has been injured by laser - but isn't "needling" PRP into the skin causing trauma to the dermis? What if the fibroblasts in the dermis can't produce enough collagen to respond to the needling? Would PRP injections be better?
Hi Stephanie Reynolds, I don't mention microneedling as a treatment for damage after excessive thermal treatments. What I do mention is injections of PRP for skin rehabilitation, which is a precise treatment, and with minimal trauma to the skin, but it still induces collagen. Skin Boosting which is also mentioned in the video, is not at as aggressive on the skin as microneedling. I hope this clarifies things for you.
How do we know if the damage from a laser or rf device has reached the fat layer or if it has damaged the collagen matrix in the dermis? When we see volume loss after laser how can we be sure it’s fat loss and not collagen damage in the dermis?
Hi Kyalla B, Any experienced doctor would know the cause of volume loss, as significant and noticeable volume loss from a thermal treatment is likely due to fat loss. Skin thickness, including the dermis, is only 2mm, so thinning of the skin due to a thermal treatment is barely visible. I hope this clarifies things for you.
I was using rf device such as Nebylyft and microcurrent. Literraly, one day I was doing both treatment and to my surprise in hours most of my fat under the eyes was GONE. I could not believe it. But that day I used the microcurrent device longer and stronger than usual. I think the combination of using the rf device and NRGY (which it is much stronger than Nuface) melted my fat but mostlu under my eyes. Terrible, now they are hollow and black and red. I know that I will not get that fat back. Not sure if prp will help. I do not know a good doctor in Texas I could go to. I know that I do not want filler under the eyes, I had heard a lot of bad experiences with fillers in that area. Dr Prasad would you tell me if I can get at least some fat back under the eyes? Treatments? I look horrible. I used to look younger than my age, but not anymore after this...
Hi Rubynas, Sorry to hear about your problem. If you want to treat hollowing under your eyes, you can't rule out hyaluronic acid fillers as they are the safest and most predictable treatment for under hollowing. You can refer to these videos about treating under eye hollowing, and the actual risks involved in filler treatment. Remember, safety of filler treatment is determined by the doctor performing the treatment, not the filler material itself: ua-cam.com/video/VzzsbNDlaHQ/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/lA6ietCvZf8/v-deo.html
Hi Irina S, I'm wary of a cold laser as collagen induction is based on a controlled injury model like heat; or in the case of microneedling creating microholes in the skin so that the body responds to the injury by generating collagen in the treated areas. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi kae, It is possible, but a physical examination is needed to determine if it's appropriate, and to what extent the lower eyelids can be raised. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Doc I love your videos! Question for you... Can people with ongoing viral issues like EBV or long covid do these juvederm products? Would love your thoughts. Again, I so appreciate you and your videos!
Hi Alysa Rushton, We have done filler treatment on people with these types of health conditions. It's important to disclose a detailed medical history to your doctor before treatment, but it is still possible to have treatment with these types of conditions. I hope this clarifies things for you, and thank you for watching!
I have watched this video twice now looking for information on volume loss from Laser. I recently started to see a Dr using the non ablative K Laser for skin rejuvenation which uses IR I believe. He told me to do the procedure weekly. That didn't sound right to me so I questioned him about facial fat loss as I'm in my 50's with some volume loss already. He ensured me that I would not experience volume loss as the laser is non ablative and will produce more collagen. My instincts told me otherwise. As the non ablative laser goes deeper I'm thinking theres more of a chance of fat loss. Would I be correct? He started off on a low setting in my first session, then increased it a little in the 2nd session. So instead of going weekly as he suggested I had the second session 2 weeks later then the third 3 weeks later. I didn't experience any redness. I'm still worried that, that may have been too much. How many weeks apart is ideal? I would be grateful to get some advise on this.
Hi @connorapple006, Collagen induction treatments like lasers do need to be spaced 3-4 weeks apart to allow for healing, and for collagen to improve the skin. You can refer to these videos about it: ua-cam.com/video/kZuz3PoTi0I/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/JSgQEzuNLm8/v-deo.html

Thak you Dr Prasad! You have made clear the risks and side effects of these lasers at these "Med Spas that seem to be popping up on every corner. We so need to becareful and not jump on the newest idea that comes on the market.
Hi Denise Kennedy, I'm glad the video helped you, and you learned about being discerning with practitioners. I did make a recent follow up video to this on how laser and other thermal treatments can be done more safely, for your reference - ua-cam.com/video/kZuz3PoTi0I/v-deo.html
I learn a tremendous amount from your videos. I'm now very weary of working with a practitioner that only provides one type of treatment and is not Board Certified. What types of devices would be a good pairing with facial lipo (under chin, jowl) to encourage tightening of the skin?
Hi Vanessa German, I would have to examine your skin first before making specific treatment recommendations, but like avoiding facial volume loss, the skill and judgment of the doctor matter more than type of the device. The device is just a tool in the hands of an experienced doctor. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Dr Prasad, so I went ahead with fully ablative erbrium yag laser for my mild and shallow box acne scars with a Dermatologist in London, as I live here. I think he used a 200 setting on my cheeks and 100 on the rest of my face. I’m on day 4 of recovery and dead skin is peeling off, but I’d like a second opinion please. I’ve lost all the pigment in my skin, when will this come back? My lower eyelids were not lasered and still contain my natural pigment, will this be evened out once healed? I am still very swollen from the injected anaesthetic, when should this subside? Many thanks for your help!
Hi Tania H, I hope you understand that I cannot give a second opinion without actually examining your skin, although you did try to provide details about your procedure. Acne scar treatment usually takes more than one treatment session, and more than one mode of treatment, so I suggest you continue following up and having treatment with your current doctor. I hope this helps you.
I can go to sleep listening to his explanation... in a good way means I take everything he is saying. And he is right... i went to get some acne scars right in a small area on my right cheek treated and they forced me to get a whole face laser treatment. Now I still have those scars and lost fat under my eyes and caused hollow look. I hate it.
I have so much respect for you for your transparency. You deserve more listeners. People should listen to you more than some of these skin influencers that have no idea what they are promoting or atleast aware of the risk.
Thank you for your kind words. What is important to me is that I help people make better decisions about cosmetic procedures.
I was one day away, yesterday from putting a down payment on laser surgery. I cancelled the procedure. Thank you so much. I felt like the surgeon was condescending and treated me trivially. I'm doing much more research before I put my future well being at risk.
Hi karen Burn,
While I do always recommend a good rapport with the surgeon before committing to surgery, their experience with laser treatments are the most crucial. I still perform laser procedures every day in my practice, but it's making the treatment safer for patients that separates different doctors and practitioners. I will be publishing a video this week about making laser treatment safer for patients, which I think will help you in planning your treatment.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD Thank you because I'm so confused

My surgeon is recommending the laser treatment when I go in to do my upper lids this time. He said I did not need a lower lid redone and that I had good skin. I attribute my good skin to an organic diet and adequade vit. D3 levels which I do think kept any bone facial loss to a minimum. I also stay out of the sun, but do not use make up or sunscreen. I do now use retinol and a good self tanner. I love your channel..thanks.

Thank you so much for your kind words, BeeV Vnm! And thanks for watching! I'm glad you found the video informative.
Hi Denise Paulsen,
So sorry to hear about your problem with your previous treatment, but I'm happy the video helped you. I make these videos so people can be better informed to make better decisions about cosmetic procedures. I have done videos about treatment of vertical lip lines, and chin dimpling, which are actually both treatable non-surgically with Botox, as well as careful use of lasers for vertical lip lines.
( sigh.....)
Looking forward to more videos, thanks!
Hi@@Ayyeliki,
Oh, sorry for the confusion. You are right that slimmer faces can look a bit older due to a lack of fat volume. Thanks for the compliment!
I just came to say same thing, soothing voice...thank you for your honesty

Hi Meredith Good,
You're welcome! Hollowness and crepey skin under the eyes are usually not treated with surgery (unless you have a tear trough implant placed). You can refer to these videos about treating the under eye area safely:

If only I seen your video before I got the "treatment..." :(
Hi S,
Sorry to hear about your experience. I have an older video about volume loss due to excessive laser treatment, as it is important for people to know that thermal device treatments can be effective, but overuse or improper use can lead to fat damage and volume loss. I hope your rehabilitation does go well, and feel free to contact us if you would like us to help you with it.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD Greatly appriciate that, thank you.

I am glad you covered this. The left part of my chin and side of my mouth shows minor dents from this type of process.
Sorry to hear about your problem, Persephone White. Keep in mind it's the practitioner who determines results with their experience and judgment, with the device being just the tool they use.
Thank you for your time , experience and your transparency....I appreciate YOU...merci
Thank you so much for the appreciation, Ruby Rodier!
Hi Alyssa Stram, MD,

Hi minky cat,
It’s important to understand that results, or complications are determined by the judgment, experience, and skill of the doctor or practitioner using the device, not the device itself.
Prasad.
Hi xoxovoodooo,
Skin Boosting is for skin quality improvement, hydration, and moisturization. The hyaluronic acid used in Skin Boosting is for retaining and attracting moisture in the skin, not for volume like hyaluronic acid fillers.

Hi Lauren B,
Overly aggressive microneedling can cause scarring, disruption of oil glands, and since your skin was likely problematic prior to treatment, aggressive microneedling could have possibly made it worse.
Hi@@whoategimpywalter,
Treatment or skin rehabilitation can be time sensitive depending on the degree and type of damage from your initial treatment.
Hi @Anne..... ,
It's actually not an either/or situation as I often alternative treatment sessions between thermal devices, and PRP/PRF so there is still collagen stimulation, but reduced exposure to heat.
It’s important to remember that the laser itself does not cause complications like facial volume loss, nor does it determine successful results, but rather the experience and judgment of the doctor using the laser or other device.

Hi Alexandre Duarte Iusim,
Sorry to hear about your problem.

I went to a doctor to explore some options and one of the least invasive was : co2 cool peel for my skin damage/brown spots and Virtue RF ( microneedling) a series of three treatments.
Hi Emma Seabuckthorn,
A microinfusion device is like a gentler form of microneedling, which can be used to deliver hyaluronic acid, and PRP into the skin, which we call in our practice Skin Boosting.

Hi Mtntm5,
Damage can come from any thermal treatment that is overly aggressive. Redness and peeling are most often just normal healing, and a new skin layer coming in. I still do laser treatments in my practice, but I explain clearly to patients prior to the procedure the limits and expectations so we don't get into overly aggressive range of treatment. Hi, do you recommend collagen supplements? Is it deceptive marketing? What do you suggest to support our collagen?
Hi N Ek,
I don't recommend collagen supplements as they are a bit deceptive.

Questions:
-Can fat loss occur in just one area with laser despite being done all over the face + is what I see now what I get or can other areas still get worse?
- she said she did 15 mins on both sides but I feel one side was longer than the other. More like 20 and 10. Would 40 degrees over cheek and jaw for 20 mins cause fat loss?
I’m losing some sleep over this. Any insight would be very much appreciated.
Hi Kyalla B,
40 degrees is a good temperature for treatment.
Hi@@kyallab610,
I hope you understand that I can't recommend a specific treatment for you without examining your skin, and the issues you want treated. Just like laser treatments, the results of microneedling are determined by the doctor's experience and skill, not by the device itself. I hope this helps you.

Hi nn beast,
Thanks for your appreciation, and thanks for watching!

Hi Ouliana Gavrilkina,
Overheating from any device can potentially cause tissue damage. It’s important to understand that results, or complications are determined by the judgment, experience, and skill of the doctor or practitioner using the device, not the device itself.
Hi Susan,
Extracellular matrix by ACell is generally not an injectable treatment of facial volume, or skin quality improvement.
Hi@@Susan-nb3ep,
Fat cells that are lost are lost permanently, and cannot be created.
Hi Chris King,
Lasers are for improving skin quality, not improving volume.
Hi@@chrisking6695,
While I would need to examine your situation before recommending treatment, the video does feature options for treatment like PRP to help heal surviving fat cells, fillers to make up lost volume, and Skin Boosting to help with skin damage. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Excellent advice and education.🙏
Thank you, Nan Hruby!
Is renuva an example of the ECM rebuilder that he talks about?
Hi Emma Seabuckthorn,
Renuva is a type of fat grafting, as it is derived from adipose (fat) tissue from the patient's own body. Extracellular matrix is advanced wound healing material derived from porcine bladder due to its remarkable regenerative properties, which was originally used by the US military before civilian medicine. I dont want to do anymore treatments and im hoping that i still have youuth on my side...I am 28 so is it possible for the facial fat to heal itself do you think?
Hi@@emmathomsonsmith,
The problem with essential fat damage is that fat cells that are lost are permanently lost.
Hi Renee Jones,
The effectiveness of professional and at home devices are dependent on the experience of the person using them, so I generally don't recommend at home devices because training and experience with them are limited. I hope this helps you.
Thank you very much Dr Prasad!
You're welcome! Glad you found the video informative!
Dr do you mean injecting PRP into the face or microneedling and putting PRP on skin will help volume loss??
Hi Amy,
PRP can help improve the essential fat layer under the skin, as well as the thickness of the skin from fat and skin volume loss due to aggressive thermal treatments. PRP cannot treat volume loss due to bone mass, soft tissue, other fat, and muscle diminishing due to aging, so a filler treatment is needed for more significant facial volume loss due to aging. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Thank you Dr Prasad. What are your thoughts on the Hyaluron Pen?
Hi Lorraine from Miami,
My thoughts on any device are the same - it's not the device that determines results, but the practitioner choosing and using it based on their experience and expertise.
Hi Linda Peckett,
The problems with home based devices are that people using them are not trained or experienced in proper use, and the instructions are vague. Also, most people using them are not aware of proper healing between treatments. There are too many possible variables in use for me to say that these devices are safe to use at home. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Thank you so much for you presentation. But you didn't speak about how expensive is to go to facial cosmetic practitioner!!??
Hi Zainab A,
Costs vary due to differences in the extent of treatment, and the experience and expertise of the doctor performing it. If you want to save money by going to a less experienced practitioner, then you could pay a lot more in revision and restoration procedures. Remember, putting money into your appearance is an investment. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Thank you so much for these videos
You're welcome, Zainab Abdulla! I'm glad you found the video helpful!
Thanks!
Hi Van Khanh,
While I don't use Forma in my practice, but do use a radiofrequency device called Pelleve, it’s important to remember that the particular device does not determine results, or causes complications, but rather the experience and judgment of the doctor using the device. The device is just a tool, and it’s the doctor’s judgment using the tool that separates great results from ineffectiveness, or potential complications. Hi Rohit Kumar,
Sorry to hear about your problem, but there is no one treatment that applies to everyone, and every skin type to treat acne scars. Acne scar treatment usually takes more than one treatment session, and more than one mode of treatment, so a plan is needed with several sessions. You can refer to these videos about it:

Does the heating of fat and fat loss from laser include co2 fractional laser ?
Hi Sara Fateen,

I had PRP put on my skin face approx. 30-45 minutes after I had had CO2 laser treatement. When can I have another PRP done? Is one week enough or it's better to wait a bit longer?
Hi Sylwia Wyrobek,
Depending on the extent of laser treatment, I usually administer PRP after the laser on the same day, and give some time for healing, and results to appear, usually 3-6 months before considering another PRP treatment. This does vary depending on the area being treated, so a more specific recommendation can be given in an examination with consultation. I hope this helps you.
How many treatments of Fractional 6 weeks apart would you recommend? I am not having it done to diminish wrinkles, more for tighter pores and skin tone
Hi SEMI PERFECT LIZ,
I hope you understand that an examination of your skin, and your skin type are needed before treatment is recommended, especially since CO2 laser may not be the right device at all for your skin type, and for tightening pores, as well as skin toning.

Hi Nichola Ronnquist,
Sorry to hear about what happened to you.

I have administered PRF as long as I've administered PRP, but I be publishing some new videos on PRF that is thickened without the calcium chloride activator soon. Hi,
It’s important to remember that the particular device does not determine results, but rather the experience and judgment of the doctor using the device.
Hi,
I still don't recommend home use thermal devices because the instructions don't cover the nuances of use for different issues, skin types, age, exposure time, etc.
I’ve had fat loss from ultherapy but also have periocarditus autoimmune disease, can I have prp and will it help? Thank you for helping.
Hi Rhonda Bower,
Sorry to hear about your problem. PRP may help with your fat loss due to proper treatment, as well as with the skin damage.

Hi Michelle Nilsson,
Sorry to hear that. I would have to examine your skin before making specific recommendations for you for treatment, but you can review the video more closely for guidance in skin rehabilitation. Can it ever repair itself or is it too late. My self esteem is greatly diminished and now suffer severe anxiety. Would you recommend fat transfer over filler? The RF was only about 2 weeks ago..does it keep melting over the next few months or should it stop now? Please let me know
Hi Dani Elle,
Sorry to hear about your problem.
Would you say this apply to the Picosecond laser rave over the Q-Switch for pigmented individual?
Hi @khanyathid,
Picosecond, and Q Switch lasers are similar in that they don't go to the depth of the fat layer, and are used in short duration exposure, so they don't have the same risk with volume loss. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Dr Prasad, if I were considering filler and laser treatment for my under eye wrinkles and bags, which procedure would one do first?
Hi socalgirlable,
I would evaluate your eye bags, under eye wrinkles, and your skin first to determine the right treatments for you.
Hi Tiffany Chang,
Sorry to hear about your problem.
Hi Stephanie Reynolds,
I don't mention microneedling as a treatment for damage after excessive thermal treatments.
Hi Kyalla B,
Any experienced doctor would know the cause of volume loss, as significant and noticeable volume loss from a thermal treatment is likely due to fat loss.
Hi Rubynas,
Sorry to hear about your problem. If you want to treat hollowing under your eyes, you can't rule out hyaluronic acid fillers as they are the safest and most predictable treatment for under hollowing. You can refer to these videos about treating under eye hollowing, and the actual risks involved in filler treatment. Remember, safety of filler treatment is determined by the doctor performing the treatment, not the filler material itself:

Thank you. And what is your opinion about new cold laser LYMA?
Hi Irina S,
I'm wary of a cold laser as collagen induction is based on a controlled injury model like heat; or in the case of microneedling creating microholes in the skin so that the body responds to the injury by generating collagen in the treated areas. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi @connorapple006,

Hi Vanessa German,
I would have to examine your skin first before making specific treatment recommendations, but like avoiding facial volume loss, the skill and judgment of the doctor matter more than type of the device. The device is just a tool in the hands of an experienced doctor. I hope this clarifies things for you.
