Thanks for the advice. Because of your video, I bought one of these. I needed to get my pictures off my phone before I took any summer trips and filled it up with new memories.

Hey there, Thanks for sharing your review of the SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive Go. It's great to see a detailed overview of its features and capabilities. I'm considering getting one for myself, especially since I have an iPhone with limited storage space. Your explanation of how it works with backups and file transfers is really helpful. I do have a couple of questions before I make a decision: 1. You mentioned that the device's performance wasn't as fast as you expected. Can you provide more details about the backup speed? Did it improve with subsequent backups, or did it consistently take a while? 2. How is the build quality of the flash drive? Does it feel durable and reliable for everyday use? I appreciate your insights, and I'm looking forward to hearing more about your experience with it.
Perfect. My wife and I are going on a trip through Spain/France/Italy in the spring. I was thinking about picking something like this up for the trip. Now I will. Thanks Dave!
I agree with you with iCloud.. I wish there would be an option that will pop up when your deleting something on your iPhone and if you want to save it on your iCloud..
I can't find it. It seems like iCloud has some settings that are configurable and I see a message about deleting in icloud but? It feels confusing and I can't reliably see where that happens. Look also on Apple ID settings for iCloud, not just the phone? I backup notes in an email account but I think my phone and iCloud are not totally mirrored. I used up all iCloud space but can't read clearly what is in there or choose what to let go of.
So I watched another review of this product where the guy only demonstrated transferring files when all we really want to know is if our 64 GB iPads can finally play lots of movies from this. Thank you for answering that part.
Is it possibly super slow because the photos it is backing up aren’t actually ON your device? Rather, they are streaming from iCloud, via your device, to the drive? iCloud is a time-murderer, and it drives me bananas!
Hey David, great video!! I have a question that would be much appreciated if you were able to help me out. My question is - are you able to select what gets uploaded onto the drive from your iPhone or does it just grab every single bit of data and stores it on there immediately? This is a main concern for me because although I would want everything backed up, because of my occupation I need to only have hi-res videos on the drive in order to free up space on my I phone
It's slow on some devices. As it depends on the amount of files that you have. As it has to scan the whole library. Then index them. And as you said. It's looks to see how much power the device is at.. It will work slower as to not deplete your battery. As the last thing you want. Is for the thing to shut down in the middle of a Backup...
TYSM!!! i ordered and have been confused for Days!!! i thought after backups i had to use the transfer photos to drive too! (i have Thousands!!) 😱.. can U demonstrate how to view files on phone after deleting from phone?
Dave, are you going to talk about how the drive rename your file to some funky naming convention? I find it irritating because I no longer know what files is what. Is there a way to get around this?
Hi thank you for the video as looking to purchase. My iPhone has set my photos to low resolution with iCloud will that still allow me to transfer my photos still on to the drive. Have over 9000 photos.
The new luxe version has usb-c as well so it’ll work with my iPad Pro usb-c iPhone 14 pro and future iPhones when they change from the lightning to usb-c like the ipad pros have changed.!!!
Great video Dave! I have been trying to find a way of playing many of my Bowie, Beatles, Stones and Cure bootleg concerts without having to listen to them through an external drive on my computer. Really appreciate your advice. 👍
If only I had found out about this before my old phone stopped working with all my graduation and concert videos :( Super informative video, I'm gonna try this out because my pc hasn't been letting me transfer photos from my phone.
Ah, that stinks. Do you still have your old phone? Even if the screen is dark it might still be accessible when plugged in. There are a variety of devices on the market for backups now too, and, of course, software programs too. Good luck!
I have been scratching my head as to why I pay Apple each month for storage (2TB plan) when I only have about 500Gbs in total saved. I did the math and some research and bought this exact product for ~$60. It basically pays for itself in a few months after I cancel the iCloud subscription.

So glad I found you! I have a question & hope you can help me. I just bought the iXpand SanDisk Flash Drive Luxe 256 gig and love it. Got all the photos & videos backed up from my iPhone 13 Pro. I’ve never used a MacBook but my daughter has one so I plugged the flash drive in to her Mac. All the photos are there & easy to open. Problem is I can’t figure out how to open the video files on the Mac. I can see that they are there, but they are in faint text and I can’t click on them. Any idea how to open these? Sounds like a good device. Can you delete your Iphone pictures after uploading them to the device? Also can you delete the app and just look at your pictures into another device?
Very helpful video, fellow David! Few questions. I’m interested in this device solely to transfer music files from my Apple devices, to the flash drive itself. Can such be done? Will it rename the files, or keep the original titles? And lastly, can the flash drive be inserted in to devices such as a home stereo, to play the music? Thank you for your time!
Being able to transfer music onto it is a function of the app that's saved the music. A Spotify offline playlist, for example, is locked up (I believe) so you can't access those files to copy. In terms of plugging it into a stereo, well, if you use the SanDisk backup software it might not be compatible. If you copy files yourself and they're all in .mp3 or .aac (perhaps) format, it should work. Haven't tried what you're suggesting, which is why I can't be definitive with this answer. :-)
Try plugging it into another computer to see if it's the device or your computer (even a friend's computer or one at the store). But... Windows XP? It's way past time to upgrade, that's not even supported by Microsoft anymore, which means you are very susceptible to malware and other problems. 😞
Great instructional video. I also bought the iXpand Flash Drive for my IPad Pro but it is painfully slow to transfer large files from the iPad to the flash drive. I wanted to free up some space on my iPad but copying movies or videos is extremely slow and difficult.

Thank you for the video. It's very useful. I have a few questions: Is there an option for manual backups? My memory card is only 32GB, and the content in the iphone exceeds 100GB. Is it okay if I just want to backup voice memos and notes? Once backed up, will these two files disappear from my iphone automatically? Can the two files (voice memo and memo) saved in FlashDrive be opened and play on a PC?
Of course, you can just backup individual items, and when you’re able to utilise the “move function” for data, naturally, it’ll automatically remove it from its point of origin..
Hi Dave! Also I’m still unsure if the phone keeps the photos on the phone (once it’s backed up) until I choose to delete them myself? Hi, thanks for the review. One question before I purchase one - if my iPhone is 256gb and I just buy a 64gb drive, will it still backup to 64gb so that I can then transfer those files and start again from there, or will it freak out? Can I manually select which files to transfer? Thank you

Which is good for some but I would like just the photos and NO folders of years and months. Way to much clicking to find a photo! Any idea of how to remove the folder option?
Thank the you for your informative video. I liked the feature description and mention that you can record video straight to the ixpand drive. I watched this because I was looking for a comparison between this drive and the other Sandisk ixpand drive that doesn't have an adapter and looks like a straight stick. I wonder which is older, if there is a different version of USB, if the menu to manage features is the same, and what the switch looking indentation on the side is. There's also a curved designed one that seems to stack the lightning connector on top of the usb connector and I wonder if it is as tedious and uncomfortable as it looks to me?
I don't think you can do either; with the software it's really designed to back up photos and videos. It is, however, a USB drive, so you could possibly back up other files with a different app (no idea, just theorizing). Fairly sure the Books app can't open anything outside of its own library, but, again, there might be third party apps that could do what you seek.
Thanks for the advice. Because of your video, I bought one of these. I needed to get my pictures off my phone before I took any summer trips and filled it up with new memories.

I used at ipad air 2 IOS 15 , but can’t recognaze it, how to resolve???
Can you back up more than one phone?

What’s the difference in copying and backing up the photos on the Sandisk?
How do I transfer pics from my Sandisk now to my laptop?
I would encourage you to reach out to Sandisk support for your questions, Emma!
If I download the lphone pictures on a windows computer, does the pictures remember the original time and date or the date changes with the date I download them? It happened before with other method of backup on Windows.
Very informative!! Thanks
I am using this to backup my ipad photos, I have over 9000 of them. I have a PC, and when I view the the USB directory on my computer, I noticed that its in years and months.
Yes trying to connect my Apple iPad Pro to a Sandisk iXpand mini drive stick
Not sure why you'd need an adapter, but if you do, then yes, it should work fine with that inline.
You use an adapter in the video,iPhone and iPad connections are different , wasn’t sure if the in line connectors have to be compatible with Sandisk .
Does it allow backing up PDF files? Can I use Books app to read pdf from the drive directly?
I don't think you can do either; with the software it's really designed to back up photos and videos. It is, however, a USB drive, so you could possibly back up other files with a different app (no idea, just theorizing). Fairly sure the Books app can't open anything outside of its own library, but, again, there might be third party apps that could do what you seek.
