This was a great show. Not exactly like the book, but I think I liked it even better, which never happens. I did spot two bloopers. When Sir John was attacked by the creature and laying at the edge of the ice hole, he looked down to see one leg missing. In the next shot, he's hanging upside down looking up at his two bare feet. 2nd blooper was when Capt Crozier was urinating and heard a fracas on deck, he audibly zipped his pants and ran out on deck. Zippers were not invented until the late 1800s. Still it was an awesome series. I binge-watched the whole thing in one day while I was on the couch with a bad cold. The atmosphere, the characters, the acting, just perfect.
At the end of Sir John's life, he has several very quick hallucinations/memories, and imagining his feet whole once again is one of those -- it's actually pretty easy to tell it's not a blooper, because his feet are bare and not booted and they're rested on a wood floor, not sticking skyward out of a ice hole. ;)
Spoiler - the wrecks of both ships have been found on the bottom of the Arctic Ocean, and none of the crew were ever seen alive again. They are amazingly screwed.
@@neuralmute Actually, there is some evidence that a few of the men might have survived and joined with a band(s) of Inuit. One of them is believed to have been Crozier. There was also a different band of Inuit who said they descended from three Europeans whose two ships had been trapped in the ice. The description of one of the men sounded very much like Fitzjames. If any of the men did survive, it's not surprising they didn't want to be found, given the evidence of cannibalism (it wouldn't have mattered if they were the ones who did it or not they would have been blamed regardless).
@@sbird8675 I've read those theories, and I'm not sure what to make of them. On one hand, we all want someone to have survived, and there's possibly an element of wishful thinking to them. On the other, Inuit oral histories are what finally led to the discovery of the wrecks of both ships. So perhaps there was a chance that a very few crew members survived among the local Netsilik for some time. I do hope that excavations of the ships uncovers records onboard that might give some clues as to the fate of individual crew members, and some sequence of events - can you imagine finding an even partially intact ship's log? Having some idea of who died when might provide a clue as to who may have been the rumoured survivor(s). For what it's worth, my money's on Fitzjames, because of the physical description, but that's just one opinion!
@@neuralmute Hey it's been 5 months, do you have any further theories as to the fate of some of the crew, particularly the one's who may have in fact survived. I REALLY wanted Edward Little to live. It upset me so much when he died in the show. In real life, I sincerely hope Crozier, Fitzjames, and Little survived...
The thing about the The Terror is that you find yourself thinking about it throughout the day.
