I just finished N-sanely perfect Relic in Crash Landed, after almost 4 HOURS. It's incredibly difficult level with many slippery sections, mini volcanoes, sometimes not visible holes and of course, the alien ride. Getting all crates with him is a million dollar quest and a hardcore mission that only a true Crash fan can finish. And you know what's funny? I'm playing the disc 1.00 version without patches and the 4 boxes, that are in riding section shortly after the 1st checkpoint, are positioned next to each other, rather that positioned diagonally (in patched ver.), so I had even harder time to get that :D Also another fun fact. First time I played Cortex Castle, I died 74 times. Second time, I had 4 deaths, and third time, I made the n-sanely perfect relic (166! boxes). From 1st to 2nd run, I improved by about 1800% :D I hated the level after 1st run, but later, I loved it and now it's one of my favourite level. I already made even the platinum time relic.
as a fan of the older games, the difficulty to 100% crash 4 completely ruined this game for me. Going through the levels for the first time is great but trying to get all gems and relics is just painful and tedious. Going for the box gems has never been this annoying, I don't even bother with the later levels and just use a guide because I'm guaranteed to have missed a box and wasted 10 minutes
Agree. As much as I love crash bandicoot this game is annoying. The level of difficulty ruins everything. I’m all for challenging games but this is just too much. The insanely perfect relics make it even worse because you are forced to play the same level over and over until you manage to play it flawlessly. I’m a completist so I’ll fully complete it no matter how long is gonna take but if next game either crash 5 or Spyro 4 is as hard I ain’t buying it
I fully agree with your list, but I'd also give an honorable mention to Crate Escape, specifically for the final section on the falling boxes. It takes a lot of trial and error to figure out the way around, and getting all the crates in there is a nightmare, especially for the ones that require you to spin in the air at very specific times: not sure if it's a control issue or if I'm just bad, but it's like they required different timing every time I retried it. Honestly, if there's something I'd change in the game, it'd be the controls in the non-platforming sections, they're far too imprecise and unforgiving for what they ask you to do: even just making the hitboxes of the crates a bit bigger would go a long way towards fixing at least 3 levels on this list! As for my favourite level, I'll go with Off Beat. The theme, the design, the huge amount of references between the floaties and the posters, that one was definitely the highlight for me.
It's interesting you mention Crate Escape/Off Beat - I included them in my outro when talking about alternate entries in the list/favourite levels for the same reason you illustrated :D
My favourite level is off beat to, it kinda reminds me of music plant from sonic advance 2, they just put In some creative ideas they thought would be fun, and it’s great
Off Beat is my favorite level for many reasons. The atmosphere is so fantastic, the way enemy attacks are synchronized with the background song, all the easter eggs, the rail section, and if the level wasn't good enough already, playing it in N Verted mode makes it even better.
This game is amazing. Toys for Bob did an amazing job making a direct sequel to the trilogy. My favorite was N-Gin's boss fight "Rawk it head". Super amazing.
This game is fun type of hard. It's not broken or unresponsive and instead of having cheap deaths like in the older games it's fair but steal pretty hard. It's a challenge that if you screw up can blame yourself and not the game.
Oh I WILL blame the game for every crate hidden behind the level geometry Not fun, not challenging, not interesting, nothing That's not a way to design a level
@CKFORBES 2 It's not exploration, they are not secret that you can see by keeping a close eye They are literally invisible, COMPLETELY hidden by the level geometry That's not exploration, it doesn't challenge none of your abilities except patience It's just bad design for the sake of it
I one up your comment with the controls on Polar or the alien. I died over 40 times trying to get the crates, just going for the first checkpoint in that part. The collision detection and the hit boxes are so pixel perfect required that even if I did almost exactly what I did the last run, I may miss a box or two. None of those felt like my fault and rather than sighing at my own mistakes, I was cursing in frustration at the game's design. And all the beginners traps in Crash Landing. Hoo boy. The animal levels are painfully designed, with horrible box placement and extra long levels, making the N. Sanely Perfect Relics agitating to earn.
what do you mean you win? you can get everything in the game to unlock stuff. Also you can beat a stage without breaking a single crate and you beat it, what is your definition of winning in a Crash game?
I would replace Draggin' On with The Crate Escape, the last part of that level is very difficult with you having to jump over the flying platforms coming at you and also collect every crate. Draggin' On isn't that hard and even the blue gem it's not as difficult once you learn the level and if you use the bonus as a checkpoint (also, dying isn't a problem for the blue gem as you won't get the n.sanely perfect relic anyway)
Wow. I never even thought about that. That would have been really helpful. By the way, flinging those 2 lions at the end causing them to hit boxes is just utter despair. 😁
This game has a hard on for collectables in places you can't see. I struggled trying to break every box in Crash Landed and didn't know about those 3 boxes in the Blue Gem Route.
Random UA-camr: makes a list of really hard levels, but still praises them for their difficulty Me, ready to blow my brains out after my 85th attempt at perfecting a level: *I tend to disagree.*
The end of CRATE ESCAPE. I don't know whether to go slow, fast, the camera angle is weird, I can't see where I'm landing, even with the ground circle, and I'm not sure if I'm doing it TOO fast, because I am always missing crates at the end of the level even though I'm positive I've looked everywhere.
My favorite boss in the game is actually N Gin. They actually gave us a challenging first boss for a change in this series and I love it :3 I also love his battle theme that plays. It’s a hard rock remix of his Crash 2 boss theme, which is epic !!
In "Draggin on" to get the blue gem easier you can go to the bonus level and "die" in it . This way you will play from that bonus level checkpoint if you die after that.
Very well made and entertaining list. I've watched you suffer with these levels and honestly, as someone who still struggles a lot with the NSane Trilogy, this game genuinely terrifies me. Also interesting that you pointed out that most of the callbacks and references were to Crash 1 and 2. There were def a few to Wrath of Cortex too, but like you said they didn't reference Warped much at all. It would definitely be cool to see a retrospective of the OG trilogy of some kind, if that's what you were suggesting.
The final gauntlet in cortex Castle was amazing to me, I thought using all four in food run separately was cool but switching between all four multiple times times in quick succession, proving your mastery of each of the unique mechanics. I can't wait to get to it in my gem and perfect relic sweep.
The blue gem took me about 5 tries, it wasn't too bad, my trick is to do the first jump as Crash, trigger Akano, do a second jump mid-air, and deactivating Akano before landing on the next platform or set of boxes
Good list! Id personally put Rush Hour around top 4/5. The 2d section with Dingo where the robots with nitro chase you and the "cross the highway" sections with Tawna were hell for me in my 1st playthrough
@6:16 *Cortex dies, he becomes ghostly devil* well he is evil after all I don't have this game yet but from watching it can be stressing depends which player is playing
Something worth mentioning about N. Sanely Perfect Relics you got wrong there. You don't need the hidden gems to get them. As long as you get all the wumpa counters and all crates and finish the level in 1 life, you'll get that relic. Also, doesn't matter if you get it on N. Verted or normal mode. Still counts for the level!
Surprisingly the level I struggled with the most didn't get mentioned. I died over 110 times on it. It was the level when you're hopping across vehicles and containers high above the city. This was the first Crash game I've ever played. Can't wait to check out more!
Off Beat is my favorite level, but it was also the level that realized just how hard this game was going to get. I also loved a lot of the flashback tapes and later levels if not only for the look of them in the later and the interesting challenge in the former.
Also, Resilience Evaluation highlights one of my biggest issues with the game, in a game that demands perfection, the flame crates sync at random. There are literally runs that are impossible because the flame crate will sync to always being lit in the one instant that you need it not to be. Find it throughout the game, most noticeable here, when you have to slide under the nitro, trigger the switch, and then wait for the top block to disappear, got multiple runs where it was lit during the entire duration from the slide opens up to when the floor falls out. They should be on set timer, a game that demands perfection, needs perfection.
Great video. Kind of wish flashback tapes weren’t included in this, but whatever you want to do, my friend. I’d put off balance in there . That one was a real pain for me
Doing N.Sanely perfect relics on some certain levels aren't feel like a challenge, but a massive torture. You can get a gem with 3 maximum death but N.Sanely Perfect relic just tells you "No man, don't die and grab all the gems!" like they are out of their minds!!!!! That's why I love the tape levels, I can fail as many times as I please but will get all them boxes ;)
I’m at a point in the game where most levels are rip-your-hair-out hard and frustrating. Then I see this video and realize that I haven’t even played half of the hardest levels yet 😳. Oh boy lol.
Cortex castle is probably my favorite level just because it’s so close to a kaizo Mario maker level. Not like the ones lil Kirbs plays, I just mean the ones you’ll find on popular super expert, which are always extremely well designed, fun, challenging, and push your skills with the game without requiring ridiculous tricks that make me quiver like mid air shell jumps. Now I want a crash bandicoot maker.
Bears repeating is my favourite because it allows me to study my mental limits and jetboard jetty because I almost got the n sanely perfect relic on my first attempt and It still hursts
On one hand, it's pure Crash, if you've played the previous 3 you have a general idea of what to expect, truly a love letter to the series, masterfully crafted. On the other hand...trying to get all the perfect relics is like being dragged butthole first across a field of thumbtacks.
Mostly agree with the list but for me personally, The Crate Escape deserves special mention: On my first attempt, I went in with 99 lives trying to get the crate gem on my first shot. Came out with... 3 lives... And no crate gem... First tine in the game where I realized: "Ok maybe having lives in this game ACTUALLY matters"
My favourite level is Snow Way Out. It may not be as aesthetically pleasing as some other levels or even as hard but my first time playing through this level and figuring out new mechanics with Kapuna-Wa just makes this level so fun to play. The music is some of my favourite and I absolutely love the challenge it offers. It's not too difficult but it definitely does take some good timing and it has left a great impact on me.
Draggin on was hard for me at first but the more times I play it the easier it gets. I eventually got the blue gem Food run is another hard one too. N.Verted mode? Forget about it!!! 😂
I love playing Crash 4 and the game itself is really fun! but god damn a lot of the levels in the game are EXCRUCIATINGLY HARD!!! I'm currently trying to get all the perfect relics from every level and a lot of them took me more than 20-30 tries to finally beat them, and when I played Cortex Castle for the first time I died about more than 80 times! the n.sane trilogy did have some difficult levels, but the levels in this game are completely off the charts!
My favorite level is food run and least favorite is draggin on. I like a challenge but not crushing any crates to get a gem is beyond my knowing, the whole game is about smashing crates(and stoping cortex). I'm new to the crash series so, i can understand how Long crash fans finds this good.
Spyro has never been known for its difficulty (it's way easier compared to Crash) so I doubt they'll do much to it. Crash 4 is hardAF because Crash is known to be one of the harder platformer games around - so ToysForBob wanted to respect that legacy. There's no such thing for Spyro.
The end level of THE CRATE ESCAPE absolutely Destroyed me over 100 times before I finally cleared it. The great thing about the game is that it gets you right back into the action quickly after you die, so I think that's partly why I kept retrying so many times on levels I died a lot on. I died way more times in this game than I ever did in any other games and I never threw the controller, LOL.
The hardest level for me so far was Run It Bayou. I’m mid way through the snow island and have only gotten a handful of perfects so far but that level just pisses me off
As a super veteran to the crash games, I agree. This is definitely the most difficult game in the series let alone one of the more difficult games I’ve ever played. No, it’s nowhere near bloodborne, but as a platformer I grew up with, it’s a little over the top
Are you insane? Enjoying the hardest levels of a game? OMG! I'm about to give up this game. That's why I'm giving up about my channel too. Do you want a harder version of Stormy Ascent? I didn't even got the relic of this level... imagine a harder version of this!
The blue gem in dragging on can be made easier with the bonus checkpoint. Go into the bonus round. Once you make it there without breaking a crate, just fall off the edge and die. Instant checkpoint for the rest of the level, to make it slightly eaiser.
I'd honestly move cortex castledown a step and slot in rush hour. Getting everythin on that level is a PITA, especially comsidering it's too levels in one. I'd also replace Out for Launch with Crate Escape or Nitro Processing. I'd also replace N. Gin's N. Genius Nitro Bouncers with Jetboard Jetty.,
I've been playing the Switch version lately for the first time. I have beaten the main story. I want to try and get as many gems as possible but I don't want to go through the pain of the N.Verted stages. The regular stages were already hard enough. And I'm not even going to attempt the N.Sanely Perfect Relics. Toxic Tunnels gave me hell. And I haven't even unlocked the gem path yet so I'm dreading that. I died about 78 times in Cortex Castle. About half of those deaths were thanks to that laser gauntlet at the end.
Just finished the Platinum Trophy a few days ago myself, and I mostly agree to your list! Just one thing I wanted to point out: Personally I don't think Crash Landed was a hard level. But for the perfect, it was insanely long. That's where the difficulty comes from because it's fairly easy to mess up. In terms of actual platforming difficulty though? It's okay, really
Vicarious Visions should have had the honor of making Crash 4. TFB made the levels ridiculously too hard, depth perception was bad, the plot holes were really noticeable and the redesigns were atrocious.
A Level I'd put on the list would be Dino Rush including the alternate version with Dingodile, that part where you gotta slide throught the bones on the floating platforms on the lava was brutal. Also I only died like 30 times on the final gaunlet in Cortex Castle, when doing it the second time in the Cortex version only 15 times. I don't know which level to put as my favourite, they were all pretty amazing

My favourite level is off beat to, it kinda reminds me of music plant from sonic advance 2, they just put In some creative ideas they thought would be fun, and it’s great
💯 I found crate escape the hardest level
Oh I WILL blame the game for every crate hidden behind the level geometry
Not fun, not challenging, not interesting, nothing
That's not a way to design a level
@CKFORBES 2 It's not exploration, they are not secret that you can see by keeping a close eye
They are literally invisible, COMPLETELY hidden by the level geometry
That's not exploration, it doesn't challenge none of your abilities except patience
It's just bad design for the sake of it
@CKFORBES 2 I never said hidden gem....
@@GroovyLeon I agree with you, i have no problem with the diffculty but hiding some crate (not even gem) this way... it's just plain stupid.
Really enjoyed Crash 4, Cortex Castle was so hard man, changing from mask to mask, yet the satisfaction of completion man 👏👏👏
Actually with perfect relics, you don't even need the hidden gems, just get all crates and without dying and you win.
I've been getting them each time. Oh well, good to know for the future.
That basically everything lol
@@aaronwelsh7321 Nope, you're still skipping on the hidden gems.
what do you mean you win? you can get everything in the game to unlock stuff. Also you can beat a stage without breaking a single crate and you beat it, what is your definition of winning in a Crash game?
You can replace a crate gem with the hidden gem right? the requirement is 5 gems total?
I would replace Draggin' On with The Crate Escape, the last part of that level is very difficult with you having to jump over the flying platforms coming at you and also collect every crate. Draggin' On isn't that hard and even the blue gem it's not as difficult once you learn the level and if you use the bonus as a checkpoint (also, dying isn't a problem for the blue gem as you won't get the n.sanely perfect relic anyway)
I didn’t even think of using the bonus as a check point.....
Just did it last and kept restarting from the beginning
I found the last part of Crate Escape much easier than Draggin' On. I only died once on it while getting all boxes.
Wow. I never even thought about that. That would have been really helpful. By the way, flinging those 2 lions at the end causing them to hit boxes is just utter despair. 😁
@@Humg12 what kind of god are you
You can use the bonus as a checkpoint? I never would’ve thought of that! Too bad I already went through the pain of starting from the beginning...
I got all 3 plats on N.sane trilogy but no way I'll ever manage to plat this game... By far the hardest crash game..
Time Crate Intro Flashback is my personal #1
That damn level took me over four hours.
This game has a hard on for collectables in places you can't see.
I struggled trying to break every box in Crash Landed and didn't know about those 3 boxes in the Blue Gem Route.
Random UA-camr: makes a list of really hard levels, but still praises them for their difficulty
Me, ready to blow my brains out after my 85th attempt at perfecting a level: *I tend to disagree.*
im starting this video praying i played all of these levels already. because if there are hard ones .........
edit: oh no.
The end of CRATE ESCAPE. I don't know whether to go slow, fast, the camera angle is weird, I can't see where I'm landing, even with the ground circle, and I'm not sure if I'm doing it TOO fast, because I am always missing crates at the end of the level even though I'm positive I've looked everywhere.
ua-cam.com/video/2P-646L1xuY/v-deo.html
My favorite boss in the game is actually N Gin.
They actually gave us a challenging first boss for a change in this series and I love it :3
I also love his battle theme that plays. It’s a hard rock remix of his Crash 2 boss theme, which is epic !!
In "Draggin on" to get the blue gem easier you can go to the bonus level and "die" in it . This way you will play from that bonus level checkpoint if you die after that.
I wish I knew that lol
@@stephendavies7355 haha jesus i can't believe you went all the way xD
Thank God for that. That made my attempt much easier.
I litterally got the blue gem like 15 minutes before seeing this…and I had no idea about that ;-;…
Wish I knew
Very well made and entertaining list. I've watched you suffer with these levels and honestly, as someone who still struggles a lot with the NSane Trilogy, this game genuinely terrifies me.
Also interesting that you pointed out that most of the callbacks and references were to Crash 1 and 2. There were def a few to Wrath of Cortex too, but like you said they didn't reference Warped much at all. It would definitely be cool to see a retrospective of the OG trilogy of some kind, if that's what you were suggesting.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it ^.^
The final gauntlet in cortex Castle was amazing to me, I thought using all four in food run separately was cool but switching between all four multiple times times in quick succession, proving your mastery of each of the unique mechanics. I can't wait to get to it in my gem and perfect relic sweep.
I wonder how you made it into 10 hardest levels when i struggled in every level
13:43 THAT’S WHERE THOSE CRATES WERE!!
Glad I could help :D
For the perfect relic, you have to find every box and not dying, that's all.
And hidden gem.
@@gingermlg No.
@6:16 *Cortex dies, he becomes ghostly devil* well he is evil after all
I don't have this game yet but from watching it can be stressing depends which player is playing
Toxic Tunnels... I spent nearly 2 hours to get the boxes and tape in this let alone the perfect relic to do down the line omg
Surprisingly the level I struggled with the most didn't get mentioned. I died over 110 times on it. It was the level when you're hopping across vehicles and containers high above the city. This was the first Crash game I've ever played. Can't wait to check out more!
food run?
Food run was number 3 of hardest 15 levels on another UA-cam video. I got stuck on that one for a bit
@@rdcatz1278 The last section of The Crate Escape playing as Crash.
@@NexStarMedia oh
The game is difficult, but the more I play the better I get, except for the animal stages those are just busted
they got fixed ^^
The bonus stage in Crash landed is nuts tho, I can't pass it
"Teal mentions they made a reference to the bridge levels from crash 1"
Me who has played those god for saken levels: WHY DID THEY BRING THIS BACK!?!
Bowser 64 don’t worry. This time you have double jump
@@benbridge3451 I suppose also random question is there plans for this to come to switch?
But do worry, because no rope cheesing this time!
Rude awakening had a slippery climb refrence to it
It was more of a The Lost City/Sunset Vista reference
@@PinkGoldPeach23105 was it it really reminded me of slippery climb
Ok ya its defo more of a sunset vista refrence i think the grey brick is what makes it look like slippery climb to me
Great video. Kind of wish flashback tapes weren’t included in this, but whatever you want to do, my friend. I’d put off balance in there . That one was a real pain for me
Just found your channel, and I want to say it’s really good! Nice stuff!
wait, there is a trophy
for completionist survival?
i know this game was merciless
but that is straight up cruel.
Toxic tunnels, Bears repeating, Cortex Castle, Run it Bayou ( N.sanely perfect relic), Food run ( Snaxx Dimension), Dragging on, Dingo/Tawna level in Snaxx, Nitro processing.
I really wanna play this now! I was already on board, but to have a long time Crash fan endorse it means alot.
Not gonna lie, Cortex Castle made me rage. But the final boss was a great reward
top 10 hardest crash 4 levels for me
1. Toxic tunnels
2. Seeing double/Cortex castle
3. Crash landed
4. Shipping error/out for the launch
5. Building bridges/ bears repeating
6. Run it bayou/no dillydallying
7. Food run
8. Rush hour
9, Create escape
10. Nitro processing
I’m at a point in the game where most levels are rip-your-hair-out hard and frustrating. Then I see this video and realize that I haven’t even played half of the hardest levels yet 😳. Oh boy lol.
Cortex Castle gives me nightmares, or rather that final section gave me a glimpse of pure despair
Amazing video bro! Agreed with every single level choice
My favorite Crash Bandicoot game plus one of the hardest for sure! This content is great!
Watching a speedrun of Cortex Castle is just as satisfying as watching a speedrun of Getting Over It
lol xD
I seriously loved the cortex levels with the giant spinning wheels and everything, amazing fun
This isn't so much "Hardest Levels" as it is "Hardest Achievements in Levels".
Toxic tunnels is objectively hard though
@@kittymyths1208 Which is why I never touched it since the first time I played it.
3:19 I also died like 60 times on that section! I’m not sure how I’m gonna get the n sanely perfect relic on that one.
I died less lol , less than 30 deaths
Loving your choice of Kirby music for each number entry.
Bears repeating is my favourite because it allows me to study my mental limits and jetboard jetty because I almost got the n sanely perfect relic on my first attempt and It still hursts
I'm getting this game for Christmas.
I don't have any idea what I'm in for do I?
On one hand, it's pure Crash, if you've played the previous 3 you have a general idea of what to expect, truly a love letter to the series, masterfully crafted. On the other hand...trying to get all the perfect relics is like being dragged butthole first across a field of thumbtacks.
it's pretty hard.. not gonna lie
I eventually got the blue gem
Food run is another hard one too.
While I certainly appreciate the love for the franchise and level craftsmanship on display, I'm not sure I'd use the word fun to describe this game.
After playing (and dying a lot in) crash 4 I'm both scared and excited what Toys for Bob I going to do with Spyro
I miss the platform skills I had from my childhood.
Great video i havent played those flashback tapes yet and now im scared to play them
You can use the bonus stage as a checkpoint for the blue gem, just don’t break any boxes and make sure to bring many lives :)
I think it’s a great game, the visuals and graphics are amazing. It’s just that I suck at platformers.
I’m mid way through the snow island and have only gotten a handful of perfects so far but that level just pisses me off
It's not so hard ,after a while you get it ,i got it this morning, crash landed is a hell by the way...
As a super veteran to the crash games, I agree. This is definitely the most difficult game in the series let alone one of the more difficult games I’ve ever played. No, it’s nowhere near bloodborne, but as a platformer I grew up with, it’s a little over the top
BloodBorne is a joke compared to this imo when it comes to platinum
The entire game is Hard. I beat it , but I still have a host of gems ,relics ,and flash back tapes to try to get.
Got this game for Christmas and I'm watching videos like this, to see what the hell I'm getting myself into.
I think this is honestly the hardest 3d platformer ever made going for 100%
Advice: Draggin On was from the 4th world, not 3rd as N. Sanity Island is a dimension as well.
Remember when the gameplay footage from the pirate level came out and people were worried it would be too easy?
If you think about it, doing these levels are piece of cakes. Doing N. sanely perfect runs and platinum relics? Now THOSE my sir is a pain in the A
Are you insane? Enjoying the hardest levels of a game? OMG! I'm about to give up this game. That's why I'm giving up about my channel too. Do you want a harder version of Stormy Ascent? I didn't even got the relic of this level... imagine a harder version of this!
Explendid game, love to hate the frustration until you learn all level mechanics to get it perfectly...
Just one thing I wanted to point out:
Personally I don't think Crash Landed was a hard level. But for the perfect, it was insanely long. That's where the difficulty comes from because it's fairly easy to mess up. In terms of actual platforming difficulty though? It's okay, really
I've been trying to 100% crash 4, and I feel your pain man.
Vicarious Visions should have had the honor of making Crash 4. TFB made the levels ridiculously too hard, depth perception was bad, the plot holes were really noticeable and the redesigns were atrocious.
Cortex Castle was insane
Common misconception: you only need to break all crates without dieing to get the relic
