Ikr, this game gives you so many extra lives the modern mode is kinda pointless. Most times i die im just getting my lives back anyway because the game gives you so many wumpa fruit
@@duelz9366 eh, both are kinda pointless in their own ways, i kept gaining lives and only dipped under 90 during that last gauntlet in the last level. so no matter which mode i played it wouldnt have changed anything. new players who have never touched a crash game before should go modern for sure, experienced players it shouldnt matter that being said i watched someone else play (in retro mode and not saying who it was) who has played the original games many times and still got a few game overs, i dont think they got over 20 lives very often so idk what to think anymore
@@red5robb1 Honestly i feel like a game should still have a punishment for losing. Its supposed to make you want to get better. With no potential punishment, the game feels like its taking it too easy. Even if the game does give you lives easily. The threat of game over is still there if you have lives.
Bro you make some of the best game reviews on UA-cam. I fell directly in the camp of "missing two collectibles in every single stage ruined the game for me" and despite you not feeling the same way, it was awesome to hear you at least acknowledge that perspective at the end. Keep it up, man
You are not the only one who wants a remaster of “Bugs Bunny Lost in time”, and if it is made by Toy’s for Bob too that would be great. But after the Ape Scape trilogy remaster.
I just thought about something, wouldn't that be great if Toy's for Bob would do a remaster of the Jak and Daxter trilogy, and even the Sly Cooper trilogy?, i haven't played a lot of Ape Escape, but i remember the trilogy being really fun to play.
@@Neyebureturns Toy's for Bob so far respected the source materials, and that was a huge surprise but also, i was happy because those Spyro where you need figures to gain access to specific levels dedicated to it.. that felt so good to be back at the roots, the level-design in Spyro is really awesome.
5:35 I want a full-on remake of Twinsanity that restores the cut content first. That game had ridiculous potential, and the original developers said they were up for it.
Agree, also another thing that proves that is Stormy Ascent. The developers dont put the level in the final release because it was too hard. Until the N Sane Trilogy of course, but is entirely optional. Crash 4 makes Stormy Ascent a joke. Personally, Crash 4 isnt the best Crash game. What you think?
@@sebastiankulche Exactly if ND meant for the series to be all about being difficult then they wouldn't have scrapped Stormy Ascent especially since that level was already completed and they only just needed a bonus level for it. Yes imo Crash 4 is definitely not the best, that honor still goes to Warped since Crash 4 still missed several marks when it comes to 100% completion. However to me when Crash 4 gets good cause of the amazing levels designs, pacing, great amount of content & gameplay variety, and much smoother controls then it's better than Crash 2. But when it gets tedious and very frustrating for breaking all the crates, on top of doing it without dying like Crash 1, then it feels a bit worse than Crash 2. Overall I think it's generally between Crash 2 & Warped. So it's definitely up there with the originals.
@@MSCLeap75 In my opinion is great and definitely is one of the best Crash games, but i dont think its better than any of the originals. Not only for the story or the things you say, also because i prefer the trilogy simplicity vs Crash 4 complexity, but that just me. PD: Yeah, Warped is the best.
It took me 2 hours to get the blue gem. Beating draggin on without breaking a box was ridiculous. So i FINALLY got it, yes, yes, now i can open that vault in cortex’s castle! Oh boy whay is it? Concept art, a unique costume, the soundtrack? Its...... just more of a level to get that levels gem. ........i wanted to rip myself in half like spongebob
I think the game would have been better if there was: -No N.Sanely perfect reliques -Gold reliques are enough for 106%, and it unlocks a special road on a map (like Crash 3), instead of just getting them -N.werted stage gems are not count into the completionist percentage. Everything else could stay as they are.
That game was really great, and so far, it didn't have any loading screens, you could go from one level to another without being interrupted, Jak 1 felt so good to play.
Honestly, I think that kind of game design would suit Spyro the Dragon's next game like a glove! A semi-open world with different central hub areas guarded by a boss and multiple levels seamlessly connected to one another sounds perfect for Spyro 4.
@@chrismdb5686 That's right! I actually completely forgot about A Hero's Tail when I wrote the above comment. Thank you for the correction. My point still stands, however, especially since both that game and Jak and Daxter did a great job of integrating levels into their hub worlds without any loading screens that would otherwise break the immersion.
@@grahamlawson402 They would probably need to have longer "hallway" sections to cover the load times then, because Spyro can move faster than Jak can due to his charge ability.
8:10 I don't know, man. The danger of having to start the level over again after I ran out of lives, gave me plenty of incentive to stop being so reckless in these hard ass levels. But then again, I gave up The idea of completing this game a long time ago, because some of these boxes are just way too hard to collect, let alone some of these gems.
It's 2021 and oh no. Who cares about that stupid orange marsupial and purple dragon we've got to cater to those whining big babies with guns - Activision
Yeah this game is recomended playing on a casual way, forget the boxes they are hidden oddly. And thats the problem with the bigger levels, you do all that, and you reach the end only to see that you missed 1 box somewhere. Also there was a part where i did that bonus area in a leve,l and the bonus platform just closed off a hole that had boxes inside, so yeah...not fun
Dude you’re the best one to review and, more importantly, criticize the game. Playing the levels casually is a lot of fun, but I was playing it with a completionist mindset which was a nightmare and made me give up on getting all the trophies since they’re very hard to get. Challenge is fun but there’s a certain point when it becomes annoying and too time consuming.
Did you know that Louis Studdert, the creative producer of Toys for Bob and Developer of Crash Bandicoot 4, wants to bring back Space Station Silicon Valley? Look it up!
I absolutely agree. Crash 4 is a completely fantastic game, do not go for full completion. I was in awe how challenging it was, but very rarely did it feel unfair, which the originals did from time to time, usually on the forward-running stages. I did...let's say "most" of the game, I got the majority of the costumes and did all the flashback levels. And it was hard! Hard like I never expected from a modern game, where the focus has been on expanding the market for so long. My biggest complaints were about the side-character levels. One, that they end with the Crash/Coco level, as discussed. But the different playstyles were so much _fun_ that I also really wanted more of them - that we only got three of each was a bit upsetting. I got one N. Sanely Perfect Relic and when I saw that those count toward your file percentage was the moment I said I'm not maxing out the game, that's too much for me.
I'm gonna say it and I don't care who disagrees, but this is why some of us just don't care about 100%. We just want to play the game and move on with our lives. I'll only ever make an exception for certain games that give me a good enough incentive to do it, *and this isn't one of them.*
I think the hidden gems are my favourite as they're the most satisfying to find. The gems for getting all the crates and dying lesd than 3 times just feel like an utter nightmare at times
This reminds me of Celeste ngl One you complete the main game, you can find all thestrawbwerries and b sides Once your done with all that, you unlock the core, crystal hearts, and b sides. THEN, you unlock the c sides and golden strawberries and finally, farewell. All of these are brutally hard and you might not be able to beat them all, and that's fine. The game is all about knowing your limits and growing, and I think it does that really well.
Anyone else find it funny that Wrath of Cortex, & It's about time are both about 4 new masks & a new bandicoot? (Alternate universe/timeline Tawna is arguably new)
The Completionist and AntDude both upload Crash 4 videos, no school, and I get to watch AntDude inevitably squeal about Crash's music. Today is a good day

This game makes me so happy. As someone who tries to go for 100% in these things though, it is a bit exhausting and demoralizing seeing how out of control they were with some of the box placements. And yes, Spyro 4 next. Please.
Antdude: "Now do spyro"
me: "Now do Ape Escape"
That's Sony Japan's franchise
Me : where is mega man x9?
YES PLEASE. I WANT APE ESCAPE 4 SO BAD.
@Dark nah we need x9 more to know what happened to axl x8 end at a cliff hanger
I'm upset he never mentioned that Lani Loli is voiced by Richard Horvitz. That's when you know you got a good game on your hands
Lani-Loli:
*I AM ZIIIIIIIM!!!!!*
"Im the one who stole your lunch earlier! Haha!"
- kaos, imaginators
Crash: Yahoo! Just what I needed!
Mario: Hey! Just because we're rivals doesn't mean you can steal my catchphrase!
“One of my favorite platformers of the last decade!”
-Antdude, 2020
It took me a moment to realize that and then I thought “oh wait this might actually be the best Platformer of the current decade” lmao
Now we just need caddy’s video, but knowing him he’s probably getting every dev relic
Obiously, i mean, he get 202 platinum relics!!!
@@lucko95 I saw the video. I think he only got 2 or 3 of them.
1:50 Damn, that time joke got a good giggle out of me
Antdude: Just go modern, you'll be better off
Me: *looks at my 50 lives in world 3* no im good thanks
Ikr, this game gives you so many extra lives the modern mode is kinda pointless. Most times i die im just getting my lives back anyway because the game gives you so many wumpa fruit
@@ThundagaT2 you mean retro mode is pointless
@@duelz9366 eh, both are kinda pointless in their own ways, i kept gaining lives and only dipped under 90 during that last gauntlet in the last level. so no matter which mode i played it wouldnt have changed anything. new players who have never touched a crash game before should go modern for sure, experienced players it shouldnt matter
that being said i watched someone else play (in retro mode and not saying who it was) who has played the original games many times and still got a few game overs, i dont think they got over 20 lives very often so idk what to think anymore
I just thought about something, wouldn't that be great if Toy's for Bob would do a remaster of the Jak and Daxter trilogy, and even the Sly Cooper trilogy?,
i haven't played a lot of Ape Escape, but i remember the trilogy being really fun to play.
@@ri-n6431 Sly and Jak are a bit more serious, specially Jak after the second one. Toy's for Bob's style is more like a Saturday morning cartoon.
@@Neyebureturns
Toy's for Bob so far respected the source materials, and that was a huge surprise but also, i was happy because those Spyro where you need figures to gain access to specific levels dedicated to it..
that felt so good to be back at the roots, the level-design in Spyro is really awesome.
Ape Escape is still owned by Sony.. so it's their call.
5:35 I want a full-on remake of Twinsanity that restores the cut content first. That game had ridiculous potential, and the original developers said they were up for it.
I adore that new Tawna design. It makes me sad that some people have been hating on it.
11:11 Hey look Spyro is just chilling in the background. Nice easter egg
This series wasn't all about being hard considering the games in the trilogy got better the easier they got.
@Milky Way crash 1 didn't have bad level design it had bad controls for today's standards
@Milky Way I wouldnt say that has bad level design.
crash bandicoot: I just got a sequel!
plants vs zombies: ok
crash bandicoot: it is called it's about time!
plants vs zombies: cool! Wait WHAT?
6:12 Every. Damn. Time.
having the switch version of the game for some time now i have to say that the game is amazing... it feels so new but somehow familiar and i love that
Fun fact: Crash 4 isnt the first game that uses the "it's about time" joke in its title. That is also the subtitle for Plants Vs. Zombies 2.
Fun when you're going from beginning to end, but a nightmare to 100% complete. This reminds me of Mario Sunshine.
Honestly not sure what more you really expected from it to be honest
I think the game would have been better if there was:
-No N.Sanely perfect reliques
-Gold reliques are enough for 106%, and it unlocks a special road on a map (like Crash 3), instead of just getting them
-N.werted stage gems are not count into the completionist percentage.
Everything else could stay as they are.
If Crash was to ever go open world, then it should definitely be in the spirit of Jak & Daxter 1.
That game was really great, and so far, it didn't have any loading screens, you could go from one level to another without being interrupted,
Jak 1 felt so good to play.
Honestly, I think that kind of game design would suit Spyro the Dragon's next game like a glove! A semi-open world with different central hub areas guarded by a boss and multiple levels seamlessly connected to one another sounds perfect for Spyro 4.
@@grahamlawson402 Spyro: A Hero's Tail already did that formula.
I chose to start playing this game on the exact day you and The Completionist uploaded videos about it. I'm loving it so far!
"I've been waiting for this!"
O no X yes
Ha, did ya see that, Shinji?
X
8:10 I don't know, man. The danger of having to start the level over again after I ran out of lives, gave me plenty of incentive to stop being so reckless in these hard ass levels. But then again, I gave up The idea of completing this game a long time ago, because some of these boxes are just way too hard to collect, let alone some of these gems.
*NOW GIVE US SPYRO 4: IT’S ABOUT TIME*
Sound track *exists*
Antdude
One of the best in the series
It's 2021 and oh no. Who cares about that stupid orange marsupial and purple dragon we've got to cater to those whining big babies with guns
- Activision
Yeah this game is recomended playing on a casual way, forget the boxes they are hidden oddly. And thats the problem with the bigger levels, you do all that, and you reach the end only to see that you missed 1 box somewhere.
Also there was a part where i did that bonus area in a leve,l and the bonus platform just closed off a hole that had boxes inside, so yeah...not fun
He forgot about Crash Talking in the Secret Ending...
More like “Just what the world needed” in 2020
Haha funny 2020 bad maymay
Did you know that Louis Studdert, the creative producer of Toys for Bob and Developer of Crash Bandicoot 4, wants to bring back Space Station Silicon Valley? Look it up!
www.ladbible.com/technology/gaming-crash-bandicoot-4-developer-wants-to-revive-a-nintendo-64-classic-20201021
Imagine if this was Wrath of Cortext was like on PS2 back in 2001.
Sanely Perfect Relic and when I saw that those count toward your file percentage was the moment I said I'm not maxing out the game, that's too much for me.
and then toys for bob was turned into a CoD support studio
So we're probably not gonna see a Crash 5. Unfortunate.
6:33 YES GIMME
I haven’t played Lost in Time but I did play Time Busters. I pray for those games to get remastered
I'm gonna say it and I don't care who disagrees, but this is why some of us just don't care about 100%. We just want to play the game and move on with our lives. I'll only ever make an exception for certain games that give me a good enough incentive to do it, *and this isn't one of them.*
I agree, I just had to throw Crash 4 on the games that I will never 100% list along Mario Odyssey and Yoshi island
I think the hidden gems are my favourite as they're the most satisfying to find. The gems for getting all the crates and dying lesd than 3 times just feel like an utter nightmare at times
There may still be a Twinsanity remake, Twinsanity DOES take place after Crash 4.
This reminds me of Celeste ngl
One you complete the main game, you can find all thestrawbwerries and b sides
Once your done with all that, you unlock the core, crystal hearts, and b sides.
THEN, you unlock the c sides and golden strawberries and finally, farewell.
All of these are brutally hard and you might not be able to beat them all, and that's fine.
The game is all about knowing your limits and growing, and I think it does that really well.
Wait I thought it was pronounced “Cash Banooca”???
that's Caddy's thing. and I will always call it Cash banooca
I think you mean Brash Candicoot
Cash Banooca 2 Gringots Steak house
Crash 4 actually captured what made the first 3 and it's super fun
I still can't get over the fact that there's a privacy policy agreement for a platformer game
I love this games design it is so much like a toy or clay and it is so smooth it’s amazing
Fun fact: Toys for Bob also made Skylanders
CRASH GOES TO WAR 6:56
Jeez. This game looks like the Mario Sunshine of Crash Bandicoot.
Pretty hard??
@@lucko95 moreso in the sense that the main adventure is great, but fully completing the game is total bullshit.
Ehhhh. In terms of 100% it? Yeah. But the game as an whole? No. This is anything but Sunshine.
@@jjc4924 how is it not? It’s great to play casually, but 100% sucks ass.

7:37 now I really want a Sonic game from this developer
Soooo...when’s cadi getting them purple stupid perfect Peter time relics
I have a feeling Coco is one of Antdude's childhood crushes
"Aside from that weird mobile game-"

Anyone else find it funny that Wrath of Cortex, & It's about time are both about 4 new masks & a new bandicoot? (Alternate universe/timeline Tawna is arguably new)
The Completionist and AntDude both upload Crash 4 videos, no school, and I get to watch AntDude inevitably squeal about Crash's music.
Today is a good day
Everyday is a good day if you think positive
Plants VS Zombies 2: It's about time!
Crash: yo can I copy your homework
PVZ: sure you don't have to change it
Crash 4: It's about time!
