I first heard this song when I was six, and through the decades, the 80's synth style of that song has shaped my love in music. While this is a departure from that very synthezied original version, they did a fantastic job making it rock band playable and entertaining! Such nostalgia! And it rings true with this songs meaning.
I remember seeing Amy Grant for the first time in 1988 and it was one of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had in going to a concert. Stay for Awhile is my favorite song of hers. It never fails to bring me to tears.
yea l forgot that she is originally a Christian artist she did some good cross over songs like that baby baby soul r/b uptempo tune back in the early 90s
*Stay for awhile* Long time since I've seen your smile, But when I close my eyes, I remember You were no more than a child, But then so was I, Young and tender. Time carries on; I guess it always will, But deep inside my heart Time stands still. *Stay for awhile. Well, it's good to see your smile, And I love your company. Stay for awhile. And remember the days gone by; For a moment it can seem Just the way it used to be.* Snowfalls, phone calls, broken hearts, Clear summer days, Warm and lazy; Long walks, long talks, after dark; We vowed we'd never forget. Now it's hazy. Time takes its toll, And time alters our view. It would be nice to Spend some time with you. *Oh, stay for awhile.* *Well, it's good to see your smile, And I love your company.* *(Oohhh) Stay for awhile.* *And remember the days gone by;* *For a moment it can seem Just the way it used to be.* Stay... (Please stay.) Stay, stay, stay... One, two, one, two. Stay for awhile. Well, it's good to see your smile, And I love your company. (Oohhh) Stay for awhile. And remember the days gone by; Just the way it used to be. Stay for awhile. Oh, it's good to see your smile, And I love your company. Won't you stay with me for awhile, And remember the days gone by; For a moment it can seem Just the way it used to be. (The way it used to be. Be... The way it used to be, ooohhhh, aaaahhhhhh. Ooooooooooooooh. Now, now, now, now... Hoohhhhhh...)
That’s cool. I love this song. But as a keyboard player, I got easily tired of listening to the reissuing of the songs in this presentation, because the keyboard player was not allowed to make the nice things from the 80’s. Organs are nice, but only organ all the time is boring and tiring. So as expected, the songs were re-built to make the guitar player to show off.
My favorite version of this song!
I come back here all the time 🥺
Wow what a fantastic band! It doesn't get much better than this!
I just love the heavy guitar and sweet Amy’s voice! Definitely one of my all time faves!❤️

So many of the songs in this live set were better than the album version. Performing songs for years hones them to a fine balance. Good stuff.
Love this song. It is good to see your smile AMY! You lift our spirits with your music. God Bless You!!!
Amy Grant sings every song draws me closer to closer to God

*Stay for awhile*
Long time since I've seen your smile,
But when I close my eyes,
I remember
You were no more than a child,
But then so was I,
Young and tender.
Time carries on;
I guess it always will,
But deep inside my heart
Time stands still.
*Stay for awhile.
Well, it's good to see your smile,
And I love your company.
Stay for awhile.
And remember the days gone by;
For a moment it can seem
Just the way it used to be.*
Snowfalls, phone calls, broken hearts,
Clear summer days,
Warm and lazy;
Long walks, long talks, after dark;
We vowed we'd never forget.
Now it's hazy.
Time takes its toll,
And time alters our view.
It would be nice to
Spend some time with you.

Stay...

Stay, stay, stay...

Stay for awhile.
