BAD:
1:02 - Expensive
Ok so this truck as tested is over 90 grand
That’s just a lot of money - I know these HD truck are big money and they’re a very specific product to solve a very specific problem…towing and payload
Sure, this new Rebel trim starts at 67k, but this one creeps up over 90 and doesn’t even have a sunroof
I’ll end this point here because later I want to talk about the philosophy and reality of adding an offroad treatment to a truck like this and if it’s worth the money
1:30 - The driving experience
This here is my main issue with this truck - and it’s the ride and behind the wheel experience
Now I have a lot to say about this point so I’m going to break it up into a couple sub-points…and also keep in mind these are my findings while NOT towing or hauling things in the bed
Obviously the point of this truck is tow and haul things, but when i see these on the road, far more than half the time they’re unloaded so it’s worth discussing
The ride and suspension is atrocious.
Seating position
Speaking of steering wheel - listen to this clip i captured in my first drive after the truck was dropped off - it sounds like the friggin Black Pearl whenever the steering wheel moves - AND IT DIDNT GO AWAY ALL WEEK
The sheer size
The brakes
6:17 - The diesel dilemma
So this truck is equipped with the 6.7L I6 Cummins turbodiesel - it’s a $10,000 option
The base engine is the 6.4L Hemi V8
It makes 410 hp and 429 lbft
The Cummins makes over 400 more lbft of torque so it’ll be better at towing at lower speeds BUT
The Hemi is actually rated to tow more than the diesel
The Hemi also gets a better payload rating
Plus the Hemi sounds way cooler and will feel faster
7:11 - The offroad package
Rear locker, 33 inch Wrangler tires, etc.
149 inch wheelbase and 23.9 degree breakover angle it’s going to high center on even the first, easiest hill. And I’m really not interested in bashing up RAM’s $90,000 truck

Good:
9:16 - Truck stuff
First and foremost is the truck stuff.. Aka the point of this segment of truck
In your HEMI V8 you can get almost 17,000lbs of towing
The diesel here tops out at just under 15,000 lbs
Your payload capacity in the HEMI is 3140 lbs
But the diesel here drops payload to about 2500 lbs
Again, why spend the extra 10k on the diesel
The only configuration for the Rebel trim is the Crew Cab with the 6’4” bed
You do get the usual tie down and LEDs
And you can option the self leveling rear suspension for another $1000
You can also spec RAMBOXES for another $1200
10:00 - Beefy Look
While it may not ride very well, sitting still it looks super badass
11:18 - Fuel economy
Here we finally start to talk about the benefits of the diesel truck we have here
You can get two engines as you’ve been hearing already
6.4 HEMI V8 - 410 hp and 429 lbft
8 speed (dial)
Since it’s an HD truck we don’t have an official fuel economy rating
But some people have been reporting about 12 mpg
6.7 Cummins turbodiesel - 370 hp and 850 lbft
6 speed auto (stalk)
(+10,000 bucks - 8 for engine, 2 for trans)
This powertrain improves fuel economy to about 18 mpg
11:18 - Interior and luxuries
The interior is where RAM has been putting the Fords and GMs to shame for a number of years now and even with an aging design it still manages to feel top class
Interior is super nice and again very similar to 1500
Heated and cooled front seats - the cooled is an added option
Heated rear seats
Heated steering wheel
Harmon kardon speakers 800$ option
Sunroof is 1200 - no pano option
12:05 - Tech features
The interior luxuries are complemented by a suite of advanced tech features too
Adaptive cruise - no lane keep, which i can understand given the state of the steering
360 camera optional - really nice
Big 12 in vertical screen (connect 5)
Wireless acp and aa
Digital rear view mirror
12 in digital clusters
super configurable
12:47 - Spaciousness
Your rear seats, for example are huge and comfy
They even fold up and when they do there’s a little platform that folds out so you can put a mattress down in case you want to go camping in your truck
Weirdly there are cupholders in the middle of it though
There’s also secret floor cubbies in the back
And then there’s loads of storage
You’ve got 2 glove boxes
And a center console that deserves its own zip code
Plus it comes with protractors etched into the underside

So basically he reviews a truck and complains because it's a truck.
Exactly
Sound like you need a Prius. These big 2500 HD trucks are all like this. Know your market!
I purchased this truck with the 6.4 Hemi in July to replace an F250. We have a ranch in Montana and I need a truck that can haul hay and machinery up and down muddy, snow covered roads, as well as across pastures and places where there are no roads. I can tell you that this truck is a beast. You have to get the vehicle that suits your needs. I don’t care about how smooth it rides, I only care about what in can do, which is quite a bit. You need a Honda Ridgeline.
Thank you, exactly what I was thinking. I have a Small Farm in Kansas and a 22 Rebel farm truck to match.
Clearly not an HD truck guy,.
I'm glad you covered the driving. Like you, I see more HDs that are empty with no towing than I do the opposite. At least out west (Oregon/Washington), a lot of folks combine the roles of these trucks to be their toy hauler and their daily driver.
I drive a semi and here’s the thing with diesels. For towing long distance you want a diesel. That 800+ torque is what moves loads up hills with ease. I agree if you don’t pull heavy weight long distance then cost of motor and higher price of fuel plus DEF don’t make since. Add maintenance cost and that pushes me out of the market for a truck that cost 20k more than a power wagon
Thank you for the honest review I will now be purchasing a Chevy Silverado 2500 ZR two bison with 35 inch tires
Cool really beautiful!
Just switch out all four springs for thuren springs and an aftermarket air ride system. Will ride 30 percent better. And 18 inch wheels. Air down the tires.
I have the Rebel with 6.4 engine, and I have very few complaints. I did down size from a 3500 though. So for me the ride is much more comfortable than the 3500 and I especially love the better turning radius. For me the seats are very comfortable. The wife even loves them, and she has a bad back. For what I use it for, it is perfect, but I can see it is not for everyone. I do not understand why they made them with the diesel option as well, that kills the towing capacity.
Hard to get past the negativity.
Hello YT, I bought a new 2024 2500 Rebel, I have the same stearing noise talked about around 3:08. Is this a normal thing on a heavy duty truck? I just don't have experience with trucks in the past.
why the diesel? 1 longevity if you take care of it 2. resale value
Construction workers buy diesels because we get free diesel from our fleet trucks. Trust me it’s worth it
This was an awesome review. You covered some great and valid points. Great job!
Thanks 🙏
You covered this so well! As a power wagon owner who wants a diesel you have me thinking twice. Especially given the price tag!!
I currently have a 1500 rebel and I want a 2500 power wagon so bad. I do not have land etc nor ever really tow anything but I'm just obsessed with that MENACING look power wagons have. It would in fact be a pavement princess but hey it's my money right? Anyways do you have any regrets with the power wagon?
I totally agree with you totally unacceptable that this $90,000 truck has no telescoping steering wheel option and for that reason I will not buy a ram heavy duty how in the hell could they missed this when the truck was refreshed in 2019?
Except it does. He just doesn't know how to use it. Flip the lever and it not only goes up and down but will pull out or push in. They are all like that.
Yeppp this bad boy is made for the Sierra Nevada's sucks to be east coasters LOL
Tf I got my 2022 power wagon fully loaded for 80k 6.4 liters
Interesting. I've heard it's a smooth ride without a load, and now you're saying it's super bumpy. I guess i just need to test drive one for myself.
yeah definitely drive one for yourself. I just had the sierra HD and it was MUCH better
I've driven 3 Rebels HDs , all road as well as any other 2500/250 I've ever been in . Dude just doesn't like or understand that a 2500 isn't a passenger sedan
The rear air suspension makes a HUGE difference and in my observations, rides a little better than the GM trucks and light years better than the F250
@@N700PY thank you! That's good to know. I wasn't sure if I was going to get that or not. Just one more thing to break, but I don't need to pay for more fillings in my teeth when they fall out.
Well I ordered one in April with the 6.4 liter v8 and it was built may 30th and I still haven’t received it yet it’s stuck in Mexico 😬😬
What?! That's crazy. Why is it taking so long?
The people scolded the Power Wagon for the lack of diesel and for the low payload. That's RAM and made Rebel. Even though I don't understand why this is needed? Only drive in the desert. In the field and mud, his muzzle will sink with such a weight.
You must have got a lemon . I just tested one and it drove great. Yes the brakes though. But you got the engine brake.
I bought a 2024 rebel 2500 diesel like 2 weeks ago and it runs as any 2500 truck 🤷🏻 i guess if you need something more practical you should get a 1500.
sounds like you never drive an 18 wheeler..make sure if you ever do that please check the steering wheel and you will see the same movement and that is a plus for a professional driver so you wont get off the road as easy
4:08 theres a dump truck driving right infront of you man
There are VERY few people who need the capability of that thing. Most people will by it and then spend most of their time in it wishing they’d got something else.
Juaaaaannnnn
Why are they switched with other trucks the diesel has more towing capacity
My question as well . Almost 5000 lbs toeing loss for what reason
@dirtyrotter4057 I watched one video recently where the guy was towing with a Power Wagon 6.4 HEMI and was getting 7-9 miles per gallon. The Vummins Engine is much more efficient with diesel fuel than the 6.4 HEMI. Even without towing the Cummins has better fuel economy and not to mention the torque. But the extra weight of the engine and transmission reduces payload. It's a give and take.
Good review-as for the things you said they are true even here in Arizona. I went with the 1500 Rebel, and it works fantastic - tows fine and the payload is perfect. Yet there are more power wagons here. I have a friend that had to convince his wife in purchasing a Raptor-just overpriced to the point where it's unattainable to the majority of us as the Ram TRX.
LOL, man is this your first time driving a HD truck.
Just wait for the rear window crack. Better get the silicone ready.
Indeed. Mine literally exploded two days after I bought it. Ford all day, bro.
The hemi is not towing more than the diesel and the hemi does not feel faster than the diesel wtf is going on here
he’s wrong about a lot of things.
Is he complaining that a 3/4 ton is big??????????????????WTF! Pretty sure you need to stay in a Subaru Forester, more your speed. Leave the trucks for men.
You literally described every 3/4 ton truck on the market.
So ,, the brakes are bad because you can't tell how fast you are going and you run up on things too quick, got it .
A 2500 truck is too wide ? Umm , it's the same width as nearly every full size truck on the market , a qualified reviewer would know that .
Offroad tires , big engines and big mirrors create more road noise than a sedan , wow what a revelation .
Lol , this review is a joke .
Wow. I can't believe that a heavy duty truck rides and drives like a heavy duty truck. 🙄🙄
I know, annoying right!
They are tanks have ram 2500 got hit head on by honda $3500 in damages honda totally destroyed need to say more?
How does a guy with just 44k subs get to drive these for review?
Drove a rolls Royce ghost last week 🤷♂️
@@dwnshft Nice! I like your style on this review. Ive got a 2019 Power Wagon that I LOVE. Dramatically different ride quality. I think the diesel engine necessitates the stiffer ride in the Rebel
You are right about how big it is. For the first week, I thought that I had made a mistake going to a 2500 from a 1500. It takes getting used to
When you have to spend the first part of your video telling everyone how you don't hate trucks yada yada but complain about how pretty much every HD truck is your not a truck person and should not review trucks. Not a real review anyone should value.
It's a 2500! They all ride stiff empty. You oughtta try my 02 cummins. Don't be a Karen.
The worst review I’ve seen on this truck, this guy needs to stay reviewing Kia’s
friend, just a suggestion, don’t you ever never give a review for a truck you don’t know what the hell you are talking about 😂
