Yes…we do need to clean our washing machines and we often don’t think about it.

I might be a little extra but I wipe out my front load washer a couple times a week with vinegar and simple green. I cherish my washer and dryer because I spent so many years without one & finally saved up the money to buy them for myself. I’m precious about it haha. I know I’m not alone.

Aww I love this! I’m glad your life is easier now. Make sure you unscrew & clean the baffles (I just learned that trick today 🤮) & open that little door at the bottom & pull out that front tube and drain it all the way (that water will be stank) then take out the little basket at the front to get the gunk out. And finally leave the door open always to prevent mildew and mold growth. There are videos on that maintenance too!

@@n1982doodoodoodoo do you make videos you can demonstrate? I know about the little basket at The bottom but I didn’t know about the door or baffles. Idk what that is lol.

All that gunk is from fabric softener. It has what known as a surfactant in it forms a protective layer on your clothes. And your wash machine. Bacteria can then grow on that surfactant and that's what the black gunk is.

@deeeno6867 y'all might be using wayy more dtgt than is needed for your loads!
Many of us - and I mean maaaaany of us- tend to have a habit of doing exactly that. I was no different; luckily I learned a lil more about it it a few yrs back..
The thought process is simple: more soap=more clean, right???
      NOPE !!!
over-using dtgt just causes it to not all rinse out enough during the load's rinse cycle, leaving it to build up on all your clothes . . . and the machine!*
PS, I know you commented that almost 1 yr ago😂 ......but just in case you never found your answer, I'm hopin' you can find this & that maybe it could helps you!

Mam omg you clean it weekly? Probably a great idea. I never cleaned my washer for 8 years then my son put muddy clothes in it. Everything came out muddy. I took all the clothes piled them up for hand washing. Got some bleach and vinegar. Put a little water in the bottom plus a couple splashes of bleach and vinegar( I wore safety glasses please wear eye protection,) then got a scrub brush and scrubbed the walls, top, washer basin as whole, bottom, and top of the washer basin drum. Then rinsed and repeated. No dirt left now! Great idea

I would input vinegar first if you open the lid while the waters pouring you’ll damage your washer. It’s doesn’t damage it right away but over time if you keep opening the lid while the waters running your washer will start acting weird and not go the next wash cycle.

Some of them have instructions to. Everyone that cleans with vinegar says to fill it with hot water first. Pouring vinegar in first would probably just drain out while the water fills.

Pull fabric softner from center of agitator. Yours is apart. Look down into agitator and clean all the softner build up, your supposed to add your softner then fill the rest of the way with water. Look at the cap.

That stuff is build up from to much detergent and if you use fabric softener at all it will cause that build up because that's what it's meant to do is leave a residue/film on your laundry to make it feel soft even though it isn't actually.

  • @CorrineDirks

You have hard water that’s why your baby wipe is orange. Soak your clothes in borax for a half hour. With only a couple of teaspoons of tide or Persia laundry detergent. Don’t use any fabric softener or dryer sheets. I can guarantee your laundry will be cleaner and softer. And your machine will stay cleaner longer

Clean every cycle wipe wipe wipe .
Especially the agitator that collects oily particles on the auger the spiral underneath.
And ring around the base of the agitator.
Upper tub that collects the same .
The tub cap and inside as much as possible.
Leave your doors open and lids .
    Especially FRONT LOADERS .
    Do hot washes periodically.
If your a cold water type of persons.

That gunk buildup that stuff that splashes off your clothes…🤢 now I’m not gonna sit here and pretend I’m better, because oh my God, the stuff the stuff I’ve seen the stuff I wiped it off my own. but I did figure it out a separate washer with nothing in it. Every time I ran the washer that had something in it. And yes, it’s the stuff that splashes off your clothes and maybe something that grows because of what gets on our clothes who knows but if you just run an empty washer over and over it don’t show up.
