I am torn with this movie. The murder scenes and the crime side of the movie portrays a very visceral and impactful image of what the victims endured and forces you to empathize with them. On the other hand, Kendrick shoving herself front and center into the movie playing off as a condescending, sexist, and insufferable strong independent woman is just cringe.
Add to and embellish a true story if you must, I guess, but come on...what was the point of not even portraying that Dating Game episode accurately? That should have been the one part of the movie that wasn't made up, because, you know...video archives.
