Maybe Anthony is encouraged to be successful in school because of his Dad’s (Peter’s) example.
If I remember correctly from reading his book “Now I Am Known”, Peter had run away from an extremely abusive father and lived as a street-child in a big city. He started school as a teenager when a kind successful family offered him a chance to escape the homelessness of life on the streets, and offered him an opportunity to attend school. From that point on, with the kindness of this family that “rescued” him as a teen from his homeless life, Peter successfully advanced in his education.
If I remember correctly, he accomplished getting 2 college degrees, “two 4 year degrees” (Bachelor? Degrees) and spent the next 18 or 20 years employed by Children’s Advocacy Organizations helping needy children, in many countries around the world.
Now as a Foster Dad and Father of 3 adopted children who were initially Foster children in his care, he is changing lives, nurturing them, “pointing” them toward success. They are following Peter’s example.
    Now HOORAY for
    Excellent Anthony!
He is a 2024 High School Graduate. 👏🏼APPLAUSE👏🏼

This is amazing to see the reward of your hard work Peter. It is a milestone in your life and Anthony's, and to have Zay there for the special occasion, is even greater. I was subscribed for a while, but when I see this video pop up in my UA-cam chnnels , I was surprised to see that I was not subscribed anymore, so I subscribed again. I am so happy for your sons to see them do good and hope that they succeed in life with your help and support. Congratulations Peter, well done Anthony. I hope you are able to inspire Zay to follow his dreams as well.

Anthony is what you call an 'Old Soul'. His emotional and spiritual maturity is a bit beyond his years, even though he might not be quite cognizant of his spiritual side yet. And I am not necessarily referring to religion here. But this kid has both feet solidly planted on the ground. Yes, he will make mistakes like the rest of us. But he is mature for his age. He's solid. And he appreciates his Dad so very much. Of course, all of Peter's children do. But there's something about Mr. ANTHONY. Good things are waiting for him if he stays focused. ❤❤

    • @t-and-p

I agree. I felt the same way when he said that, after he met Peter, he knew he was going to be his "forever dad" - even though Peter himself wasn't sure at that point. I think you're right - Anthony has an old soul that just knows how things are supposed to be.
It's lovely to witness, isn't it? I have high hopes for his future - I think he has the potential to go far and do incredible things 💖

    • @KatTheo431

I don't think it's accurate. There's so little tracking for many kids who age out (I aged out at 18 but didn't graduate high school until 19 and had no follow-up at all), and so many of these studies focus on the stats they want so they can get more funding. What's sad is that foster youth in the system hear these stats and believe life is hopeless for them. That's the reason I would like to see these types of stats corrected but it doesn't help funding if positive outcomes are shown.

Arizona changed the laws on state support for foster kids until finishing high school so we've helped the graduation rate here a bit. But, if you're a foster in a group home, the state support goes away when you turn 18. We need to change that, but it's a budget thing. I could think of a few ways the state could save money but cutting out some
programs that don't seem as necessary in my eyes.

I had five kids and usually had my niece and nephew along. The baby rode in the cart child seat and the toddler was in the basket. Each of the others had assigned places to hold on the cart. It was rarely an issue. They were taught how to behave, and I duly praised and sometimes rewarded for good behavior. If my kids or their cousins fought in the car, I pulled over and took out my current huge book, such as, War and Peace or Les Miserables. I never yelled or warned, but it only took a few times reading by the side of the road for 10 minutes for them to figure it out. After that, if I pulled over, they would correct each other. "Oh, no! Stop fighting. Be quiet." Then they would giggle and beg me, "Please, start driving again." You can't let the inmates run the asylum.

Well now Anthony gets a dose of the real world LOL. One of my younger cousins just graduated on the 1st of June, sadly due to a bunch of conflicting information I didn't get to go to his graduation :(. He has struggled for pretty much his whole life, practically raised by my aunt and uncle rather than his parents as they can't seem to grow up....he managed to make it through school, and graduate with a scholarship to a school 1/2 way across the country :(. But, sometimes that's what it takes to make a young man/s dreams a reality....they gotta leave home to make their dreams....he will be playing college football, and studying to be a dentist....but he specified he only wants to be a pediatric dentist.....he loves kids, loves helping kids, he's brought home so many classmates over the years and helped them, not just with school but when they've got problems at home, he's there, he knows how it is to not be wanted, not be loved, so he's the opposite of how his parents treated him. I love him to death....I got 1 more cousin that graduates next year....course what I guess they'd be cousins once removed or something of that nature.....regardless I love them just the same....given their struggles over the years, if the youngest graduates next year, it'll be awesome. The one that just graduated, got to go to Mexico for their senior trip....must be nice LOL, all we got when I graduated was well nothing, graduation was over, that was it. So...now that he's back home he says "Ugg, I gotta get back to that real world and adulting now" HAHA>>>>>yeah you do buddy, get used to it LOL.
Hey I've done similar with the binder clips to hold up my pants, broke the buckle on my belt at work one day, used a couple binder clips to hold the belt together the rest of my 8 hour shift....do what works. I don't have kids, but I mentor some occasionally, its amazing what you can get creative with sometimes LOL. So much fun having them around though, I usually get the kids who nobody wants to work with because they're difficult....2 of which are well soon to be 9 years old, both autistic....you know, for being autistic they're pretty dang smart, and all they want to do is help, when they're with me they want to help me rather than work on their school work LOL. So its a trade off, I get them to work on their school work for about 1/2 the time they're with me, the other half they get to help with whatever project I'm working on at home.....what they don't realize is they're not just helping they're learning things that they will use later on in life, measuring, leveling, you name it they get to help with it and they love it, gets them outside, gets them thinking, and although sometimes their lower levels of speech get in their way, they don't let it stop them, and they love it....they love the one on one time and what's interesting is the typical autistic characteristics kind of go away when they are hands on into helping with something, its like a whole different child sometimes.
Peter you are doing awesome with those kids.

Anthony isn't in foster care. You adopted him, remember? **He's your son!** He is not your foster son but your son. Those statistics don't apply to him.
If you weren't ready to be his dad, why did you adopt him? I get really hurt and frustrated every time you talk like that about him/your adopted children. Your causing them more harm than good when you do that.

  • @KatTheo431

Congrats, Anthony! I do not believe the stats being commonly promoted graduation rates are accurate. I aged out of the foster care system and did graduate high school at 19 (thanks to having to switch high schools 4 times including to a very rural school so it took me longer). I enlisted in the military and graduated college at 28. No one has followed up with me. Instead, the stats focus on former foster youth who continue to need services, especially those who enter the foster care system as older teens who have issues with the criminal justice system. I was part of a group of former foster youth who wanted to get a more comprehensive study done and there's just not the desire to show good outcomes because it doesn't help get funding. And so many groups promoting adoption don't want people to think there are former foster youth like me who are successful. Had I been adopted by my crazy religious foster parents, I never would be where I am today.

I got to watch his graduation on UA-cam as they do live streams for all of the graduations in the Charlotte Mecklenburg school district and I’m so happy and proud of Anthony that he could make it this far and for also being one of the first alumni from his school ❤ for those of u wondering, the school he graduated from opened in 2022 and didn’t get their first graduating class until this year ❤ And ofc congrats to Peter and the family

Now I finally know the name of the young man who is in some of the videos- jacob.
Congratulations, Anthony. You beat the odds, but you are very special in that you're funny and you're very smart. You're going to do great things. Remember doing great things doesn't mean to be world famous necessarily, It means to live a good life, live clean, give to others and love fiercely, and live for God - those are great things.
    Love from Canada❤

Congratulations Anthony!!!! I live in Europe and it is so nice to learn about American culture through your videos. Who knew graduation cloths had different colors from black 😅. Also nice to see all the family and friends in the videos now and then. And I start getting curious about Jacob too.... who is he and when did he become friends with Anthony?
