    I am a real world Airbus pilot with thousands of hours flying the real aircraft and thought it would be fun to have a look at the new detailed simulation of the longest baby 'bus by Toliss as well as the new MSFS a320 NEO. Hopefully you find this useful and it brings another perspective to your simulation. Any thoughts or comments are welcome!

    Yet another high quality tutorial! We are so lucky to get all these immensely helpful tutorials from a real pilot for free! Thanks so much for all the hard work you are doing. Thanks to you I have learned to fly the A320 and being confident in myself and understanding why certain things need to be done.

    Great video. Very good for people new to approach charts, and also for people who understand them too. When I was learning them I personally found them much easier once I'd gotten to grips with the format. Plus, I think the Jeppesen charts are very user friendly.

    As always a fantastically produced video! Thank you for all you do for our community. Being able to use Navigraph makes the whole simming experience so much more realistic. It was great being able to show my daughter an approach into Bournemouth down to minimums in the JF Archer without seeing anything until before touchdown. She was gobsmacked!

    Fantastic video as always. I would usually skim over most of the info on the ILS charts, but this was really informative and I'll be looking at the information in more close detail in future flights now that I have a better idea.

    Excellent content as ever, thank you. A favour? Next time you fly a Newcastle approach can you explain when you would use an RNAV STAR - ie ETSES1J or K? To pick up the ILS25 approach it's very easy as you're routed to UPMOP from ETSES meaning no overhead is required. It's purely I've noticed that you normally take the POL1N via NT and wondered why.

      There are basically only two options. Navdata only and the Ultimate which is either charged yearly or monthly. If you only want current AIRAC cycle data then you can go with the Navdata plan. If you also want the charts you need Ultimate. I am using the monthly since it can be canceled at any time like a netflix subscription. So if you know you re not flying in the next couple of weeks you can simply pause it.

    Nice video! one quick question, which CAT do you normally use? normally CAT I and if weather isn't good enough you go to CAT II etc until the CAT is suitable for the weather conditions?

    Hi @320simpilot how are you? Can you make a video series based on Type Rating training using A32NX mod of MSFS. For example, if anyone goes for the very first time in A320, how to start properly. Obviously first thing will be familiarization of cockpit controls. Then I think it will be how to set up MCDU and how to start engines, then how to taxi. Then basic maneuvers, turns, climbs, descent. Then at the end most of the advance things such as emergencies. I have seen your playlist but I do not find it in proper order. For eg your playlist is starting with the complex ILS procedure. Your MSFS tutorial playlist video no #4 has an ILS tutorial then later in another video #17 you are showing how to taxi. The video no #21 you are showing cold and dark setup. I understand you have covered everything but videos are jumbled up and if anyone genuinely wants to learn A320 simulation, he would love to see proper tutorial in a step by step manner.

    Question: why does the chart display BOTH trans level and trans altitude? Surely it will just be one or the other? What if ATIS conflicts with either of these which one do I follow?

    Using A32NX mod (dev) I've noticed the DME distance not showing when doing a go around (when passing to the "back" side of the approach runway), so I cannot see when I'm at the required go around distance (like D4.0 INWC on this chart example). Is this a bug / something not modelled correctly on the sim, or do I need to monitor the DME on go around ("backside")?

    Very good video, thank you. One question here - how can you calculate the Transition Level, the point at which you transition from Flight Levels to local QNH - ON DESCENT TO LAND? When online with VATSIM and no ATC available, climbing away is easy - set the STD passing the Transition Altitude published on the chart (6000 for Gatwick for instance) - but many of us have to prepare and brief for a point at which we will change from FL's to local QNH on the descent and approach to an airport. Upon reading up on this, there seems to be some pretty hefty formulas! Myself, I usually add 1500 feet to the published Transition Altitude, so coming into Gatwick with no ATC online, I'll set the QNH passing 7500 feet (TA at Gatwick is 6000 feet). Usually I can get away with this for simulation purposes, but is there ever a situation where you might have to try to "discover" the T/L? And how would you do it? Thank you. Lee

      @320SimPilot  2 роки тому

      Hi Lee, thanks for watching and your comment. This is asked quite regularly so I am planning to make a video discussing it. It is a confusing concept at first but it sounds like you have a good understanding already.

    So if you are a Cat III capable aircraft and the tower advises that the RVR is 650 m, you would be using Cat 1 DA of 439'? What if they report an RVR of 250 - then DA of 339?

  • @sky173

    I'm a asking this a little early, as I haven't watched the entire thing, so I may delete it if answered, but I have a question. I don't want to forget this before I write it down. Hopefully someone can answer... On the charts, do you see the curve just before intercepting the ILS? I also see a similar curve when setting up an ILS approach in the FBW A320.
    If I join Vatsim, would I just fly the line according to the charts and instrumentation, OR would I hold my heading and expect specific instructions (to turn final) from ATC? If I wait for instructions, then why would that curve exist on the charts and in the MCDU? I've always been curious about this. It's probably a simple answer but thanks in advance anyway.

    • @sky173
      @sky173 2 роки тому

      disregard the above question. I believe the video answered the above questions. I think we would just "fly the line" unless given instructions to turn. I'll leave it just in case others are curious also. Great video.

      @@sky173 in real life, and on vatsim you will usually get radar vectors to the intercept the localiser.
      It’s unusual to fly the full procedural approach.
