Fun fact, as soon as Darwin discovered evolution he caused a world wide flood that killed all but 6 of the entire human population...

The ‘ol “evolutionists are responsible for the actions of Christians” routine. Classic.
I wonder how the christians would react if they actually read the old testament, where their god is alleged is to have ordered genocide. Repeatedly. Would they try to pin _that_ on "evolutionists", too? (No, they usually just insist their book doesn't say what it actually says. The other old apologist classic.)
It's exactly like that "this is Biden's America" crap where the fascists show pictures of the so-called "late stage capitalism" from extremely fascist states to rant against socialism, if you think about it.
_Look what us republicans did and how terrible it is! It's democrats' fault for reasons! BOOGABOOGA are you scared yet inbred hicks who vote for me?_
I think that's what bothers me the most. It's so _goddamn transparent_ and it's the same goddamn line over and over again. Well, no. The _fascism_ bothers me more, but y'know.
See also; atheism caused the Holocaust.
I mean, many of the German rank and file were Christians for sure; but most of the elites believed in a weird sort of neo-paganism/druidism.

@@HotDogTimeMachine385 Oh, such a deranged mind. You have lost contact to reality.
I'm pretty sure they think the crusades were good because Muslims are orcs from Lord of the Rings who need to be fought against at all costs. Also Jews, pagans, and Cathars were killed in the Crusades, but uh, lets just focus on the savage Muslims. Except now Christian fundamentalists are warming up to Muslims because they both hate trans people.
Same for witch burnings and the spanish inquisition
Fun fact:
Sending out missionaries to a "novel" people you randomly find minding their own business does not somehow mean that you don't also consider these people sub-human
There's a saying in Africa from around the colonial expansion, "The gun closely followed the cross"
Yes, my reaction to _why did a country that had earlier on in the century sent missionaries to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with Africans suddenly decide that Africans were sub-humans worthy of extermination_ was to hit stop and ask the room (which, apart from me, might have contained my cat) "maybe because _both_ are bad?"
@@Kenneth-ts7bp Common ancestry urks professed humble people, i know. We're amazing, life is a precious gift, but the grass isn't quite as green without a hotline to perfection or the expectation of cheating death somehow.
Elephants mourne their dead and place flowers or fruit with the deceased. If a group of monkeys figures out that one of them falsely raised the alarm about a nearby predator to get dibs on some food, they "correct" that sort of behavior. Don't gimme that shit! "Unless we get our special place outside the animal kingdom, my hotline to perfection is crystal clear about how to weigh the lowly human's, pardon me, animal's life."
You're seriously fucked in the head, you get that?
Exactly! His question answered itself. They sent missionaries because the church believed Africans were inferior from the start. They didn't get the instant worship they wanted and so decided they were not only inferior but effectively sub-human.
@GaianEntertainment
I just need to ask anyone that thinks Missionaries in colonial Africa was a sign that Europeans considered the people there as equals;
What would those same Europeans have done with/to people they DIDNT consider subhuman/inferior?
Completely replace their entire culture and way of life with something more palatable to what the Europeans considered civilized?
Perhaps curve out the entire continent amongst themselves and pillage every possible resource from the land?
Enslave those same people in distant plantations?
"And you guys like it ya little freaks" pretty much summarizes my entire life
I literally laughed out loud at that part 😂😂😂
If I remember correctly, the Bible got a chapter dedicated how King David make a genocide dictated by god itself.
And King Saul was chewed out for NOT committing genocide
Evolutionary theory has not been the cause of genocides, but religious belief sure as hell has.
You got that right.
Exactly. Evolutionary theory argues that we are all equal, religion wants people to believe they’re superior to others.
in fact evolutionary theory would lead you to the precise opposite of genocide.
Humans are so successful precisely because we co-operate and empathize with others, luxury gay space communism is like objectively the optimal evolutionary strategy for us.
@@swedneck reading the words "luxury gay space communism" is like a therapy session
Yes i agree but our tribalism is still a problem. I wonder if tribalism is genetic or learned
Small correction Erika, we do care about your anecdotes!
I heard the claims that evolution was a primary driver behind most genocides of the 20th century all the time in my fundamentalist Christian school. Thank you for covering this topic.
Presumably they deliberately ignored the genocidal effect of Christian depredations upon native Americans in the 18th and 19th centuries, continuing with the schools in the 20th.
Same.
Hitler went to Catholic schools in Austria where the priests never taught evolution at all. His anti-Semitism came directly from the Catholic Church. He mentioned in Mein Kampf and other writings that he thought he was doing God's work in eliminating Jews.
It's called misattribution of intent
Humans have been genociding well before Charles Darwin published On the Origin of Species, and sadly will probably continue into the future (though I have my hopes we can stop genociding soon.) We are not a very nice species and sometimes we do bad things, often justified by our various religions.
I don’t get how they can claim that genocide comes from Darwin when they believe in a story where their God commits mass genocide.

Genocide? That’s got the Old Testament written all over it… 😏
Yeah, and unlike AIG, WE don't even have to make anything up to support this argument, it's all right there in the Old Testament. Which example would they like to work with first?
God makes it okay to murder, rape, enslave and pillage, as long as it’s people who don’t believe in the ultimate malignant narcissist called Jahweh.
The Christian god murders more people than any other cause in all of history.
Yet, AIG brings up genocide all the time. Feels like Projectionism to me.
@@zodfanzaGod commands the genocide of non-believers.
Luke 19:27
But as for these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slaughter them before me.
2 Chronicles 15:12-13
And they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and with all their soul, but that whoever would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, should be put to death, whether young or old, man or woman
Deuteronomy 17:1-20
“You shall not sacrifice to the Lord your God an ox or a sheep in which is a blemish, any defect whatever, for that is an abomination to the Lord your God. “If there is found among you, within any of your towns that the Lord your God is giving you, a man or woman who does what is evil in the sight of the Lord your God, in transgressing his covenant, and has gone and served other gods and worshiped them, or the sun or the moon or any of the host of heaven, which I have forbidden, and it is told you and you hear of it, then you shall inquire diligently, and if it is true and certain that such an abomination has been done in Israel, then you shall bring out to your gates that man or woman who has done this evil thing, and you shall stone that man or woman to death with stones.
And that's just some of the times He didn't do the genocide himself
@@camwyn256 that's only the Hebrew good though , christians might say theres a new convenant only based on it. And evolution deniers are manly fake christians muricans.
If Boyle's Law for the Expansion of Gasses were to inspire genocide would that make it untrue? Of course not. This is an "argument from consequence", a logical fallacy. Things are not true because their consequences are desirable and things are not false because their consequences are undesirable. This kind of motivated reasoning is, in my opinion, one of the main ways in which religion encourages fallacious thinking.

As a german, i find your pronounciation of those few words adorable, no offense!
But jokes aside, this is some serious stuff. The nazis certainly didn't see their own people as in any way related to the people they saw as "lesser". Any idea that made a connection like that would have most likely been rejected and get you in some trouble. AiG really doesn't know beans about what they say. History (especially german history) is often horrible, that's why we should examine it to learn from, not misuse it.
Well, won't be the first nor the last for AiG and their specific brand of cultists to wildly misunderstand Nazis lol
Social Darwinism is not Darwinism. As soon as I heard that term, I knew that AIG was full of it. Social Darwinism is largely the designation of a series of disparate social theorists who saw in Darwin's theories a "Scientific" vindication of their own theories of certain people or societies being more fit and therefore deserved their eventual superior status.
Correct. Darwin's ideas were hijacked by people who already believed the human species could be divided into "superior" and "inferior" races and used to further legitimize their belief. And in many of their cases the origin of their racist beliefs was the Bible, and asserting that human races are simply the descendants of the various sons of Noah. AIG is trying to lay the blame of social Darwinism on evolutionary theory to disguise the fact the real culprit is largely thanks to their stupid book of Bronze Age middle-eastern fairytales.
Social Darwinism is a re-branding of the Eugenics movement. I wonder, why did they think they needed a rebranding ...
Social Darwinism has a synonym that is much more accurate, and that is eugenics.
Social Darwinism is indistinguishable in practice from the political theory known as conservatism, which most creationists hold to.

Didn't Hitler have Darwin's books burned?
Darwin's books were burned because in one of them, "the descent of man, and selection in relation to sex" (1871) he demolished both Gobineau's and Spencer's racisms. Hitler had little to do with the choice of books itself, it was done by various actors under the direction of Alfred Rosenberg.
