    Simon, I have been watching you for just a few months & want to say that I truly appreciate your candid videos about products & techniques. Thank you! I have been spared wasting money & time testing product which allows me to make purchases wisely & with satisfaction. You may be surprised that I am a senior (67) who was forced to retire early because of severely debilitating health issues. However, I have been a craft addict since the age of four! That addiction has never stopped & never will! I am grateful to be able to enjoy doing what I love to the extent possible & to continue learning from young ones (like you) & old. You inspire & motivate me. I especially look forward to purchasing your cardstock & inks & several other products you have demo'd---just waiting for my next Social Security check! 😏

    Thanks for the tips, Simon! I’ve been a crafter for a long time and have struggled to find a great trimmer. You sold me on trying the TH guiotine trimmer. I will try out your cardstock too!

    The tip on trying the 3 basic colors when you are playing and testing out inks is a great tip. I like different inks for different purposes so have several different brands I am loyal to.

    Love your videos. I had been wanting the paper cutter for a few years. Every time I went to buy it, it was out of stock. I bought another one instead. Works great. BUT, it's not as compact as yours. That is talky important to me. Since I'm limited on space.
    When are you going to do another video with mom? I love watching the two of you work together.

    Great video Simon, it helped me so much as a newbie card crafter. Just waiting for Scrapbook.com to restock your ink bundles so I can get the full set. Tasha Foote also highly recommends your inks as well. Can you recommend a really good water brush too, please and thank you. I am learning so much from you Simon, and thank you for your kind generosity in teaching us new things on the daily!!

    Favorite cardmaking tools...? Ranger replacement blending foams; I am not coordinated with blender handles so I made handheld blenders using wood blocks--I love when the foam gets saturated with dye ink. I did not need a stamp platform until I started using large clear sentiment stamps; since a Misti is off my list for a few reasons, I made a stamp platform without hinges for less than $20.00 (it works great). My always-use-its would be my craft mat, a 13"x19" box insert covered with Contact vinyl, and roll of blue tape.
    My other favorites are my paint and makeup brushes, spray bottle of distilled water, and a rag of t-shirt so old that it does not shed fibers. I also have a guillotine cutter, a mini old-school one that I take out when I have larger paper or want nicer cuts than my trimmer. 😁

I don’t need another paper trimmer, but am seriously considering clicking on your link for the full-sized Tonic/Tim Holtz trimmer (I have the smaller one and love it). I definitely agree on the quality card stock. Buy the cheap stuff and you can't even do proper stamping. Ink bleeds, images smeer and so on. Also love my paper trimmer. Bought a new one in March with a triangular blade and never changed it since then (though used it a LOT).

    "Screen hug" you made me smile 😁 Thank for sharing. I've been looking for guillotine that works because I've been through many that don't last. The other thing I need to find and invest in is a color printer for pictures, printable images and designs with vibrant colors. I spend so much in good quality paper and the printer doesn't do it justice. Do you have any suggestions on one?

    • @simon.hurley
      @simon.hurley  4 роки тому +1

      As a crafter and as a choir member who used to make the tickets (300) for each concert twice a year, plus all the decorated programmes too...I used a variety of printers over the years. You better believe how many times the ink ran out in the middle of a run, but worse....a sheet or three of tickets and even paper for the programmes would jam. Badly. Every single time. Often so badly I’d have to buy a new printer. Or the printer would sort of scratch down the page aaagggggh! A job that should have taken a couple of hours was taking half a day. We tried 3 or 4 makes of printer.
      The last one we bought was a Canon. That was about 14 years ago. Yes I’ve bought another Canon over those years but I never had paper jam like that ever. Just recently a sheet of card DID jam...anditbtook me about 10 seconds to get it out. Canon ink doesn’t fade. It doesn’t splurge like some makes do, and I wouldn’t buy any other make now. Btw this is an inkjet printer. I also found that while the ink was a bit more expensive it seemed to last longer.
      If you need the ink to be waterproof..perhaps colouring in a digital outline stamp for example, you will need a laser printer. As yet I’ve never tried one due to price but that has fallen lately and I think I’ll be trying a Canon when I come to buy a new printer!
      Just be aware and check when you do buy any printer..that the photos can be brilliant/shiny or matte... as I never gave it a thought the last time I bought my latest Canon..and it only prints photos in matte which isn’t as clear and I often need the shiny ones! Sorry that was so long, but hope it helps!

      @memorykeeperjournals 4 роки тому

      @@TealStarSusan Thank you so much Susan! I appreciate all the details you shared. I've had a few people tell me that they prefer the cannon printer. However, the fact that I need to make sure it prints on all kinds of paper it's a great tip. Thank you!! And stay crafty 🙃😊
