Indeed, Neuburg wasn't a part of Bavaria during the times of Ottheinrich, it was a duchy of its own, the so called "Junge Pfalz" (Young Palatinate) or "Pfalz-Neuburg" which became part of Bavaria around 1806. It consisted of several territories, mostly along the Danube to the West (including Dillingen an der Donau) and in the North of Regensburg (Schwandorf, Weiden, Burglengenfeld etc.).

(No, I don´t mean Schloss Neuburg, although I filmed that, too!)
I grew up in Neuburg. Lots of nostalgia for me on that beautiful video! Went to that school next to Hofkirche which was run by nons in those days...running down through Unteres Tor after school to have sone ice cream at Cafe Huber etc.etc.
The Maria Ward School? I also filmed it, but I will check if I need permission, and if I can, I‘ll make another video with the school as well. I can just picture little girls running down for an Eis! Beautiful video. I am from another very old town nearby and found my love in Neuburg. That's how I've come to visit ND just 2.5 years ago. Unfortunately I had just missed the Schlossfest but had looked forward to 2021, alas hoping that it will be happening next year at least. Thank you for sharing this look at Neuburg through your eyes.

But when I ket up with my old schoolfriend, my German husband couldn’t understand a word lol. Munich is wonderful. Keep in touch - I‘m happy to help if you need anything.
When you visit for the fairs, please keep in mind that most of those in costumes are volunteers and in general not payed to do so. Often members of clubs, even sports clubs, to make you enjoy your visit. I think that's an important part of german culture.
