  • Culture shocks are real. I have decided to share my experiences of life in Germany as a Brit, as well as the beautiful places I am lucky enough to visit.
My meditative videos show a calming and artistic view of the places I visit and the quiet, peaceful wanders I take through them. Medieval villages, picturesque cottages, beautiful cities. Relax and escape with me from the busy bustling world to my dreamy and serene slow living way of seeing my surroundings. Experience the magic of peering into the past and being in a fairytale, just for a little while.

Tell me what you think in the comments, I´d love to know.
👩🏻👋🏻 I´m Celtic, (Welsh), and I feel very much at home in beautiful Germany.
I feel a strong desire to share these moments of beauty with you, in the hope that it will also lift your spirits. All my videos will be calm and with no loud noises or sudden bright lights. 👼

DIe Kelten or Celtics,.. were everywhere in midle europe. Actualy in South Germany/Austria/Swizz. Which is said to be their root of. From where they explored and settled down in tribes from turkey to frances coast all regions. Germanics and Latins/Romans from kinda at same time, "motivated" them to "move" to France all together (who could) and while the germanics stayed at their "area" did the Romas poked them until they tryed save their culture, by jumping over to the big Island(s), which is today known as Great Britain. The romans followed and drived them even to the tip of then last hope, jumping over to the *Irland* Island.
      >> Roman Geologist said: "..this region is poor in ressources..." and so the Romans decided *NOT to go over* to Island.
      >> This historical moment, SAVED the heart of Celtics culture to this day. Well,.. no,..until the church came and killed a lot of their culture. But not all,..and THIS is smt i see repeated everywhere in "germanic cultures", which the church tryed to supress and erase,...but... undefeated,... still here,... for us to recover & to rise again.
      >> This is a real fast/poor explaining about the Celtics. They where more then "just tribes" and to this day we & germanics back than learned lot of things from them.
      >> Just to get fast the rough grip of understanding.
In Love to my Brothers and Sisters

I lived in Germany back in the 1980s, and I took for granted how free and civilized life there was. People have a lot of misconceptions about Germany, and some of the same people have misguided beliefs about the freedoms that they have in their home country.

In Germany there ist a principle of law concerning property which says "property obliges". If you have property, for example land with forest, you have a responsability for society. So in case of a forest, you can not forbid anyone to go into your forest as long as there are not certain reasons to deny it. Anyone can walk any wood in germany and is even allowed to collect small amounts of leafs or sticks or mushrooms (as much as fits your hands) to take home. This is considered a fundamental right of freedom in germany. Only plants under protection or dangerous parts of the forests are forbidden.

If we want to talk about ghosts, we use the word "Gespenst", which is closer to the term "Apparition". One thing that depresses the hell out of me as an American is that in almost every video I see of Germany it seems so well-kept. The cities and towns are clean the roads are in good repair and people seem so much happier and then I look outside where I live. @@LaureninGermany Moving to the States after living in München can really be an eye opener. I hope the States manages to bridge the inequality that results in these unpleasant experiences. In Bavaria I used the public transport extensively, feeling so comfortable all times. In NY the public transport is not the first choice and people are so protective of their private space even inside a public transport for fear of violence. I just hope folks living here manage to change this aspect before it gets out of hand. The "marginalized" community speak so negatively about what they view as "entitled" community in public infrastructure. There is always fear in the air. You have to experience it to believe it. Sorry for the long rant.

      @@iracture Grüße aus München.
A friend of mine moved to NY to work there. He spent 9/11 stuck in the subway. A colleague of him had a date at a dentist in the WTC, but could not make it. Sometimes you are lucky...
I visited the US with my parents and my uncle 3 times between the mid-70s and mid-90s, but mostly were in CA and other western states. When we were in NY, we went down to the Battery and the WTC (mid-90s), and then decided we were too lazy to take a taxi or the sub, and walked back to our hotel at Central Park.
When NY friends of my uncle heard that, they screamed "Are you insane? You might have been killed!" and we could just say "we hardly saw anyone. The only one approaching us was a black guy asking for fire". But granted, we were 6 people.
What I will never forget in NY is a scene: In the middle of the city, where is constant shadow, on the other side of the road was a skyscraper with wide open stairs in front. And there sat a woman you could have found in a movie or a fashion magazine, light brown costume, sloppy hat, looking cool into the distance.
And on the street is a Ferrari 365 GTB (Magnum's Ferrari) with open hood. She was waiting for the mechanic.
Sadly, back then you did not photograph everything.
From the elegance and style like the opening scene of "Breakfast at Tiffany's", where Audrey Hepburn gets out of the taxi at dawn, still in ihrem kleinen Schwarzen, to eat her croissant while looking at the shop windows of Tiffany's.
I follow what is going on in the US (way more than is good for me) via UA-cam comments since 2016, since my quest for "Why Trump??!".
The US gun possession rate is 20 times higher than in Germany, and the gun death rate is 30 times higher. Really just correlation and no causation?
Suicides are not included in this, the rates are equal, us germs just use different methods.
What no gun nut will tell you resp. refuses to hear - 1,000 women and 600 men are shot dead at home/year in the US - by partners, family & friends. "Only" 500 are shot at home by unknown intruders.
So a gun at home triples the risk you are killed....

I have the impression that the US has some very problematic myths that make things very complicated. Even in the movies you are learning the hero's gut feeling is always right, a hero acts on his gut feelings and does NOT follow rules and regulations, but acts alone, and he does not have to think or question his own position, he is RIGHT - always. A US hero NEVER changes his mind, admits that he is wrong, that he did not know all the information. It always works out, when he kills the evil villain in total self-justice, he always gets away with it - and gets the girl.
And we love that simplistic plot, the villain so deserved it

Am I wrong in that assessment, that people HATE to think about their own position? That most do not have the courage to question themselves?

Just look at Trump, he cannot admit to ANYthing. He is always on the attack when he is wrong. And his MAGA cult absolutely loves this. They do not see that this is in principle insecurity. Trump has no own self-esteem, he needs others to define himself. He is desperate without attention
