Have you guys watched the Harley Quinn animated series? I think it's really good, and amazingly mature and well-written. Frankly, it's a bit weird it's not getting more attention.

I think Black Mask is appropriately crazy in the movie, I mean his first comic appearance says that he’s deadlier than Ras a Ghul, crazier than the joker, the main thing that separates joker from Black Mask is the fact that black mask has more concrete motives and goals and is obsessed about what people think of him, while joker just wants chaos and doesn’t care what people think

I saw Birds of Prey on opening night (7:30pm show) & there were literally only about 20 people in the theatre. I was really taken aback by that. It's a perfectly fine film. The fight scenes go on way too long & they should've cut about 50% of Harley's narration (seriously, it's like "Casino" level narration), but I still enjoyed it.
I think a great Rami Spiderman cameo that wouldn't step on any Sony legal toes is just show during a all the universe hoping a brief scene of Toby Maguire and Kristen Dunst getting married with Bruce Cambell as the reverend officiating the wedding. Having Maguire partly in costume (spidey suit under a tux, no mask) would be nice to mirror iconic comic book covers but wouldn't be necessary. Alternatively instead of Cambell you could have the wedding be officiated by Dan Gilvezan or Christopher Daniel Barnes. It would be fun, short, wouldn't require the Dr Strange focused plot to be radically altered to include that world, and it would let us know Mary and Peter eventually did tie the knot in their universe.
They better mention how at the Heart of Birds of Prey is just a story about a girl and her Big Sandwich! ...side note, i really enjoyed it, the film not the sandwich...actually no i could murder that sandwich!

Have to change the whole movie, Lady Shiva doesn't make sense as a henchman to Black Mask.... Maybe if Shiva was controlling Black Mask, could work that around a bit so the movie doesn't have to change too much. Just change the diamond's background a bit, so that it means something to Shiva instead of Mask. But I've always liked Zsasz, so I like that he's become a common side character.

I disagree... Affleck grunting and killing goons in a action sequence that was copied from a videogame... It's just too lazy, I don't think this scene deserves that much praise. Snyder is always like this, he only does decent stuff when he is copying something. For me, it's better to have an entire batman movie based on the arkham games than just small doses. It's even more lazy to show batman killing instead of coming up with ways to disable the goons, there's this detail as well.
@@raam726 Of course, Arkham Batman is arguably the best batman adaptation. Thing is, Snyder only copied the stealth upside down and the combat from the Arkham games, that is just too superficial. Arkham batman is scary as hell, he breaks legs and spines for breakfast. This version of the character is not the punisher dressed as a bat, it's a complete different concept. I only hope the future batman movie takes heavy inspiration from arkham batman, not only how he fights, but the whole "no kill" rule, the technology, how he is legitimately scary, etc

I don’t think there is an action scene in this movie that holds a candle to the warehouse scene in BvS, he at least got attacked by more than one person at a time which never happened here. The get woke go broke didn’t help this movie but literally every man in the movie was a jerk, that was a big heavy handed to me the men bad women good. Margot Robbie’s Harley voice for almost two hours is far too much, not a stand-alone character in this interaction but great as an ensemble.

it didn’t even bomb, its low budget, it just underperformed, i feel like it will have good legs because of word of mouth, and I for one loved the movie, great time, especilly high
$97m budget after all the reshoots. Shazam did 53m on the same budget. R rating will hurt its chances compared to other comic book movies. It doesn't have any stars who bring in box office numbers. Robbie and MacGregor don't do well at the box office. Look at how Doctor Sleep flopped.
Street Wise Hercules out of all the directors in Hollywood they got one who is primarily associated with the horror genre🤔. And Raimi and Feige are longtime friends so I doubt they’re gonna stranglehold him.

GiRayne would I have liked to have seen Scott return? Yeah absolutely. Is it the end of the world and the movie is doomed without his involvement? Hell no.
I think some of that Margot magic got diminished with time. When she arrived there was that mesmerizing feeling, the woman is so gorgeous and so talented... But time passed, she is still beautiful, but the initial "shock" so to speak is not there anymore. And, of course, the suicide squad factor is really something disheartening for superhero fans... And for the casual audience, birds of prey means nothing to them and the aforementioned magic don't play a big factor. So, the bad results were not that surprising.
Reasons why it failed: 1. She looked old af in the trailers. 2. Ain't nobody going to sit 2hrs of her stupid voice 3. In the movie Outbreak when that guy coughs and then the whole cinema is infected..
Did not enjoy this movie, thought it was terrible. The fight scenes and the fact that “luck” is the only reason Harley Quinn isn’t dead ruined the movie. Great podcast though

Am I crazy? It seems obvious to me that Birds of Prey is woke. Very woke. Not that that's inherently a bad thing, but how are people not picking up on Black Mask's straw misogyny? If nothing else about the themes of the movie, I thought that part should've been obvious.
Maybe this is why James and Maseaux have so much grief for the "wokeness" debate in general. They're "wokeness blind." They don't see themes of agency or emancipation, they'd just like good movies.

GiRayne I’m 50/50 on Raimi. Also let’s not pretend like Derrickson was super impactful LOL. Thor, Cap, and even The Avengers benefitted from having different directors helm them. Strange will be fine. And again there are any number of directors they could’ve gone after but they went to one who got his start in horror. And to that point Feige even said months ago the movie would be scary. But hey need to create and keep a narrative
GiRayne would I have liked to have seen Scott return? Yeah absolutely. Is it the end of the world and the movie is doomed without his involvement? Hell no.
I think some of that Margot magic got diminished with time. When she arrived there was that mesmerizing feeling, the woman is so gorgeous and so talented... But time passed, she is still beautiful, but the initial "shock" so to speak is not there anymore. And, of course, the suicide squad factor is really something disheartening for superhero fans... And for the casual audience, birds of prey means nothing to them and the aforementioned magic don't play a big factor. So, the bad results were not that surprising.
Reasons why it failed:
1. She looked old af in the trailers.
2. Ain't nobody going to sit 2hrs of her stupid voice
3. In the movie Outbreak when that guy coughs and then the whole cinema is infected..
Not a great film. Writing sucked, goofy characterization, shit fight choreography...this is no Deadpool in terms of overall quality. C-minus.
Did not enjoy this movie, thought it was terrible. The fight scenes and the fact that “luck” is the only reason Harley Quinn isn’t dead ruined the movie. Great podcast though
