  • Here we take a look at Junk Yard pinball machine from Williams Electronic Games which was made in 1996. Designed by the unforgettable Barry Oursler who was also responsible for Gonzo's first pinball game 'Popeye'. We take a look at this classic game which features a wrecking ball, a toilet, a VW T1 Camper and a dog to throw toast at . . . .what more can anyone ask of a pinball machine?

I really like this game. That crane is such a great toy.

Grabbing one of these later this morning. It’s been on my holy grail list since I 1st played it in my youth. Great Video guys!

I always appreciated this game because it marks the return of the cigar chomping guy from Mousin Around, which was my first pin. Gameplay is very fun too!

Played this a lot on Zen Pinball. It's quite compelling, despite being relatively simple. The video modes from previous Williams games are for the most part, enjoyable to play, too.

My fist experience with this game was on my arcade 1up attack from Mars and I enjoyed it so much I bought one. I do love playing the game.❤

The camper van has been painted on tony's example, also i'm sure there is usually a magnet under the wrecking ball?

My Boss just bough this for our new arcade... not mine but seeing as i am both tech and counterstaff.. i guess its close enough. Its been at my place for 2 weeks while i fix it, and a Gottie World Challenge Soccer..... you know what? Now that the WCS is re rubbered and fine tuned... I like it better hahaha its a wierd game with realy un-intuitive rules. but after a couple of weeks i get it and its a great shooter if you can abide the gottie flippers

The game is great, but I can't help feeling that with a bit of tweaking of the rules, it could have been one of the best. For instance, rather than only collecting junk and the end of ball multiplier only once in a game, I would have it reset after each visit to Outer Space. I would also make the Shoot the Dog mode less impactful because if you spam it, which is possible, you can ignore the rest of the table and build a huge score.

Hey Dan old friend (david_vi from the old Reddit league days) 😄 you're right, it is simple. Especially compared to other games of the time. It was actually rushed and unfinished, hence the big empty space under the bus. Originally it was to have a pop bumper down there and the bus would be a lock.
One of those games that got neglected towards the end of Bally Williams when they changed focus to pinball2000.
We've got a really nice JY, it's fun especially with a special ROM that stops the dog all day strategy, however it's still quite an easy and shallow game compared to the others of the time.

@@DaveTheTrain Hi! I still follow you and your awesome pinball adventures on Facebook! Glad to hear there are some alternative ROM's out there. I still enjoy the table as is, but only if you ignore the Save the Dog spam strategy ;-)
