This "breaking down of ego" is potentially liberating - and potentially dangerous, insofar as it allows somebody in authority to exploit that to his/her advantage. Some "enlightened" people perhaps feel they're beyond conventional morality, that they can do whatever they want to novices, however cruel or demeaning. There's also the danger of undermining the mind, calling it "limited", that students simply cannot comprehend what a "master" is doing because it's beyond the mind. Yet it's the mind that can discern bullshit from non-bullshit; a mind can still make balanced judgements, make useful distinctions between right and wrong. Bottom line: while the mind is indeed limited, that claim also opens up possibilities for exploitation and abuse. A well known thought may be relevant here: being open-minded is great, but we shouldn't be so open-minded that our brains fall from our skulls. One must be especially careful about the teacher(s) one selects.
