WHAT A MOVIE! It was a real surprise to see Charles "Emperor Ming" Middleton playing the role of the villain of the piece, seven years before FLASH GORDON.
Assistant director Gaylord F. Lloyd was Harold's brother. The photo machine is cool.I remember using one when I was a kid.You got 4 in a strip for like $1.00.Only in Back and white.
The only silent comedians who were adaptable to sound and matched their images were Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. Miraculously they were also a double act.
Is there any version on UA-cam that does not have the ending cut off? Frustrating. (And thanks to the comments below that warned about it! Much obliged, so I didn't waste time and then get all peeved when it stopped suddenly.) Edit: Found it! Huzzah! Film with complete ending: ua-cam.com/video/ImzalIUA2Do/v-deo.html
+Artsy Tyger I totally agree ! Even though Harold Lloyd had a pleasant voice, there is something lacking in his talking pictures : his SILENCE !! His silent movies were soo much funnier !!!!
Its interesting to witness...in some cases, less is more..he wasnt trained to talk in movies..Buster Keaton also had a hard time and Chaplin as well. The new era had come.
Harold was a great comic and I love his films
Fun! Thank you for uploading. Love Harold Lloyd at least as much as Chaplin!
Buster Keaton first then Harold Lloyd...not a fan of Chaplin but that's just me.
This was so funny. Very cute I laughed a lot, a jolly movie.

Obra maestra total. Que maravilla poder disfrutar de estas joyas del cine en el bendito UA-cam. A la altura de "El hombre mosca". Extraordinaria
cut off at the end :(
Un genio Lloyd, es un personaje adorable el muchacho de las gafas.
Thankyou 🎉

If you look in the back ground at 1:38:30, you'll see a larger version of the picture from the beginning hanging on the wall
An odd combination of real time dialogue and silent footage overdubbed
de niño vi a harold Lloid, por hay del 84 85
Obviously intended to be a silent, the decision was made to convert it into a talkie. The result's a mess but fascinating at the same time!
This was great although the segment with Harold and Clancy, the cop in the shop was too drawn out and rather boring.
Sound was the end for Harold...
