Thankyou 🎉
A great movie. Thank you!
Still just as great 100 years later! #2024
If you're looking for it, like I said on another video. 54:37. You're welcome!

I hate religion i really do
Thank you! I think this is the version I have been looking for. I saw this on TCM years ago and when I found it again later on it had the soundtrack with the organ as the main instrument. Was quite disappointed at that. I think this is the version I saw on TCM because a clip with this exact same music was on their site. However, theirs was a tinted color video, as opposed to black and white. I don't remember if I saw it on TV in tinted or black and white or not.
The “show don’t tell” of the crackerjack box and the dog biscuit box is absolutely brilliant writing that adds so much to the relationship. In the boat, they only need to notice that each is still carrying that little reminder of the other with them wherever they go, to know that their feelings are mutual. ❤
That scene is one of my all time favorites. Powerful cinema.
Jobyna Ralston & Harold Lloyd had (CHEMISTRY)..
SEM DÚVIDA A SANTÍSSIMA TRINDADE DO CINEMA MUDO, NÃO DESMERECENDO OS OUTROS, MAS HEROLD, CHAPLIN E KEATON SÃO OS MAIORES. FANTÁSTICOS SEMPRE.
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing.
Harold Lloyd never fails to deliver laughter, excitement, and true entertainment.
To me, Harold Lloyd will always be number One (with respect to Seven Chances, which is also very good). Lloyd’s movies have a level of finesse and comic subtlety unmatched by Keaton or Chaplin. His thrill antics also are spectacular. Safety Last and Girl Shy are my favorites, but all Lloyd’s silents are good (his sound movies are not as well paced and he is too mature for the Glasses character, which becomes obnoxious when no longer young and inexperienced). Lloyd was not as remembered as Chaplin or Keaton because he did not allow his movies to be played unless under his strict conditions, so they faded from public memory. His movies outdid Chaplin’s and Keaton’s at the box office consistently during their initial runs. I find Lloyd films hold up better over time. Chaplin can be corny, which Lloyd never is. Keaton isn’t as attractive. Just add a soundtrack to Safety Last and you have a modern film, with social commentary. Lloyd’s Glasses character has a lot of audacious (cocky) behavior later exhibited by Bugs Bunny and Jack Benny. He clearly had an influence.
I agree with you. He was the very best!
I read somewhere that the ending of this film was a huge influence on the ending of The Graduate.
Absolutely hilarious. And the stunts were done 'live' back then. No fake background screens for those comics.
As all film fans know, Director Mike Nichols used the ending of this classic in Nichols own film "The Graduate" (1967). "Girl Shy", was Harold's first film for his own studio released in 1924. Unlike his films for Hal Roach, his character here shows dramatic depth most certainly in the rejection sequence with Jobyna in the park where he lies to her telling her he was only kidding about his affections, all done to get her away from his failure as an author. Harold sustained a serious injury during one of his stunts in the race to the wedding. Here is how the press release from Harold's corporation described it: "a fire nozzle got away from Lloyd striking him with trip hammer force across the forehead and knocking him off the fire engine. For a minute, the other members of the Lloyd company thought he had suffered a fractured skull. Lloyd received immediate treatment at the home of a nearby physician". Yes, he did his own dangerous stunts for the most part, and was knocked out cold during that fire hose fire engine stunt. Luckily he only got six stitches, and not a skull fracture.

Interesting story haha

If you look in the back ground at 1:38:30, you'll see a larger version of the picture from the beginning hanging on the wall
96 years ago.
Next year it will be a full century ago!
Who else watching in 2020?

Can anybody locate the ending? It seems it disappeared from UA-cam...
1:10:49 definitely me when playing gta
Highest grossing movie of 1926
Actors from the movie "The fast and the furious": - We have the best chases and races! Harold Lloyd: - Hold my beer!
If bigamy’s a crime, any marriages happening whilst the guy’s already married would be invalid. This means the chase scene, although fantastic to watch, is completely pointless. Harold could’ve let them get married, & then broken the news.
Yeah but that guy Ronald DeVore was a real slime as the film describes him as "the kind of a man that men forget." He doesn't deserve one second of being "married" to such an angelic being as Mary.
Why didn’t you let it finish?
this has to be one of the best movies made of all time but paired with one of the WORST music scores. Worst thing is that there is another version via time-life that brings this movie to life. It's as if the composer of this score said he was being paid scale and that's what they were getting. For Suzanne to control the estate and let this out tells me she hasn't seen the movie, nor heard one or both of the scores. This score is below mediocre at best. The other score that for some reason they don't want to display is not only superior but makes a silent picture worth watching. This score pays no attention to sound effects unless it's by accident. The other score does all that and more. AT the end when he asks her to marry her, you're not confused of what's going on, it's the climax of the movie and you go ah. This score does a great disservice to this film. It would be better not to display this film at all if this is the score that has to go with it. This is one of the main reasons Harold Lloyd himself didnot let his films out to the crappy sound techs of the 50s.
That's not a tortoise, einstein
geri schmidt lol
Great Harold love him
Loved it ♡
I'll always love Buster best, but I always enjoy Harold's films too!
same
that was so cute!
omg there still was no sound back then- im surprised
bingbong You mean as in a sound film? Sound could be synchronised with film as far back as the 1890s by Dickson’s(an employee of Edison)experimental sound film, & sound running on the same strip as film in perfect synchronisation was done in Brixton, England by three men in 1910. They took their invention to America, but by 1913 no one would back them. Edison had come back to try his method again, but it got booed in the theatres, & because the three men weren’t as well known as Edison, they didn’t have much success.
I am 14 and i just want to see how the olden days were like
One of the funniest movies I've ever seen
This was so funny. Very cute I laughed a lot, a jolly movie.
I like Harold Lloyd movies, his comedy timing superb...
Is there any version on UA-cam that does not have the ending cut off? Frustrating. (And thanks to the comments below that warned about it! Much obliged, so I didn't waste time and then get all peeved when it stopped suddenly.) Edit: Found it! Huzzah! Film with complete ending: ua-cam.com/video/ImzalIUA2Do/v-deo.html
