This is a great movie. It tells the truth about our so-called "democratic" election process and what happens if a candidate who wasn't supposed to win actually does win. Another great one is "The Dark Horse" with Warren William and Guy Kibbee.
That's so cool. I love the old Hollywood version of Six Degrees of separation/Kevin Bacon. They showed "Safety Last" at an older theatre near me last year, brought in a guy who played the Wurlitzer (!! ❤️) and also Harold Lloyd's granddaughter was a guest for an after show Q&A! She had so many cool stories of being at her grandad's estate, it was huge and a great place to visit as a child. Got to love the classics❤
Having spent plenty time in China I can relate to some of this story and philosophy. The overt racism was harsh, abrasive, but true to the times (and hasn't changed much IMHO). I've always been a BIG fan of Harold Lloyd and thought I'd seen all his movies (this one by his own production company) but missed this somehow. And I wouldn't have appreciated it as much if I hadn't spent all those years in China. Poignant look at the politics of an American city in the 1930's. 💖 🇨🇦
Lol. The chinese are pretty racist, and cucknadian politics are too corrupt and fascistic to be throwing shade at others. And btw, that's an accurate representation of an American city, but one run by socialists, both in the 30s and the present...
Overt racism? Yes, from the BAD people. The Chinese are shown as the good guys and the Americans as the bad guys. The very fact that the fillm was made proves that most Americans at this time viewed racism as a social evil
I was bored stiff for some reason at first watching this (but I wanted to finally see a Harold Lloyd movie), until he was elected mayor! Then it got both interesting and amusing, now I'm a Lloyd fan! God Bless Everyone!
