    **NOTES**
    - Interesting update for the scene where we travel through the chaos-space thingy: Upon closer frame-by-frame analysis, every shard here appears to be the Traveler's memories specifically. It DOES change the connotations a bit, but honestly? I think that makes the whole field of Cecelia's even WEIRDER. I don't remember seeing that in game ever...

Did anyone else notice the mention of the heavenly principles when Ei plants the Sakura tree? "Eternity extends time to infinity, dreams illuminate each moment within. When both shine in unison, the sacred sakura blooms from the darkness. Finally free from the clutches of the heavenly principles." Could this mean that Makoto went to Khanria in the hope she would get killed so she could set up this plan where Celestia and the heavenly principles may not notice her tampering with time? Or something along those lines... perhaps when the sakura is planted between memories, or outside of the actual timeline Celestia or the heavenly principles are not able to notice it occurring. This could also be why Khanria is underground or set apart from time, so it would go unnoticed, at least for a while. Perhaps the time God wants to also subvert the heavenly principles and that's why they helped Makoto.

@@alanea5860 i get that but why then would they even mention heavenly principles? why is the unknown god called the sustainer of heavenly principles? it's just been used too much and in too specific of places to be written off as not meaning much or not meaning anything at all. if time can be changed, that would mean a breach of law, but those laws are literally strictly defined by humans and archons. natural law, which does not have to be defined to exist, by ur description, would then include the ability for time to be changed, it would not be a breach at all. whatever she's trying to sustain is quite literally heavenly principles, principles enforced by her because they need to exist to satisfy celestia's expectations for anyone below them. it would also be strange of makoto to do this. we don't know if ei would've went to khaenri'ah. while it makes sense that she knows her limits as someone who rarely battles, she is still the electro archon of that time and had the most control tied with ei over the electro element of any living being that is not a god in celestia. i'm sure she could've handled monsters if needed. even then, makoto dying doesn't necessarily prevent ei from dying. i'm not sure how ei DIDNT die, she went to khaenri'ah when the fighting had died down but if they were wanting to kill anyone and everyone that seemed to oppose the heavenly principles, would they not have tried to kill ei too when she looks exactly like makoto as her twin? i definitely think makoto did something deliberate here. it makes sense that she wouldnt tell ei because ei wouldve been opposed to it, she knew she was going to die on this mission it seems and i believe, especially after this theory, that makoto absolutely knew more than she let ei know, more than she let anyone know. this is also a written fictional story in a video game, i see no reason for istaroth to be explicity brought up, so explicitly that the text has a footnote that says "istaroth" in ei's dialogue referring to makoto and the potential source of her hidden knowledge. hoyoverse is deliberate with their writing, i see no reason to believe it is something as simple as that

Yeah, I always assumed that fogginess the MC felt after leaving Shoguns Castle, was her Electro Eye following him out. Her exact words were she’d let him leave the premise alive. And it’s no coincidence she struck immediately, after the MC cross the gate. Using Raiden In-game it wouldn’t make sense to have such a feature. But story wise, those could be the effects of having Raiden’s divine gaze on you when your considered a threat.

That event is now very very sus. Like how on earth did Kazuha and the resistance arrive on time when the Shogun will strike? And it just so happened that Kazuha can block that strike from the Shogun? What if that so called dizziness, is not the result of Raidens weightiness, but actually the God of Time, Istaroth messing with the timeline and the traveler sensed the disturbance of space-time in the form of dizziness? Could the reason Kazuha being there is the traveler in the future alter the past and arranged Kazuhas arrival? Its was a pivotal moment in history where Ei changed her stance to end the vision hunt decree. So the God of Moments interfering in that event makes a lot of sense.

I think that the part where only an hour passed in Teyvat for the traveler to get Yae while 500 years passed for Ei was not that time moved differently. I think that the 'time' in the domain is just one long (maybe linear) axis, and depending on the traveler's will, they could choose which point to arrive at. For our traveler, it was the point where they could bring Ei out of the Oneiric Euthymia. If the traveler didn't have the will that Yae mentioned, we could have ended up just where we left, at the start of the battle.

I think Israroth created an instance with Makato knowing they’d need the Sakura’s purifying ability to stave off the corrosion and buy them a little time.
Perhaps that instance is acting like a bandaid over an inevitable moment. Which, like you said, is not changing the timeline but merely shaking it up.
Perhaps the way forward requires the moments to be arranged correctly and that’s what we are seeing 🤷🏻‍♂️

I mentioned this on Teyvat Historia "The First Heir is attempting to raise Enkanomiya" video. We might have an instance of where a FAILED timeline spit occurred. And it has to do with Aether being the Abyssal Prince when you the player PICKS Lumine.
HoYoverse says that both twins' stories are canonical. They have also gone to great lengths to show us through dialogue, cutscenes and interactions, that the story remains the same regardless of some slight preference between the Travelers. (Aether being clumsy at crocheting while Lumine is excited during Thoma’s hangout to be a subtle preference variance) But this Mirror experience is only applied to the Traveler we pick in-game.
HOWEVER, the Abyssal Sibling of Lumine and Aether has a different reaction when we meet them again. Not in what they say but HOW they are feeling at that time. Venti is aware of this change but also not aware of the difference at the same time. The ONLY thing that hasn’t been adjusted in the game based on the Sibling we pick is the Gnostic Chorus we see in the battle pass. At first, I was on the side that this CAN’T be about our twins because it’s ASSUMES the Lumine is the one that failed at her task. If You Pick Aether as the twin the player uses this is a "Lumine" story.
But now we have a "truth" that Venti and Aether only knows if you Pick Lumine as the traveller! And what I mean by this is that Aether the first time around tried to SAVE Lumine from her fate. He managed to do this at the end of HIS journey but instead of creating a new Timeline. HE ends up repeating this journey in her place. HE fails to change fate. The Story Stays the SAME, but now he fills the role Lumine once had. And this may be because it NEVER mattered which twin takes the Journey as their fate is to fill both roles regardless because they are twins to create change.
Now the reason I think this is the case is that Lumine is Angry at Dani when we meet her on Aether's path and her journey hasn't ended yet either. While Aether is sad to see Lumine and Dani. Aether knows he can not change anything on this journey taken already and he is sad he has to send his sister Lumine down the same road he took. He’s not mad/livid at Dani’s but still warns Lumine as she did for him the first time around to Dani’s role in the story. But there is no animosity there just concern, he’s is only concerned for Lumine at this point of the time for him. It is why Venti is telling the same story regardless of which Twin we take either because this is the first past he remembers of the twins. It wasn't overwritten because it's either the past for Aether's path or the catalyst for Lumine's path.
This doesn’t change the story because we are still heading down the same path but it is another example of the time laws in the world of Teyvat at work.

  • @Ren_rz
    @Ren_rz 2 роки тому +106

I think i get it why there were now consequences to Ei's seed planting and tempering with time
As you gave the example of otto's time splitting, i think Ei didn't face consequences because she wasn't the actual cause of time distortion (and I don't think it's a timeline split for Genshin, it's more like rewriting the timeline) the one who did the tempering was Makoto which would also explain her being killed (if by Celestia) since I doubt Celestia would allow even the Archons to temper with time
I say Makoto was responsible because even if Ei might've been the one who planted the seed Makoto was responsible for creating and giving the seed to Ei in the first place, Ei only acted as a medium for Makoto's time tempering
I think Makoto saw a future where Inazuma didn't survive the cataclysm due to both sister being absent from there so no one to defend the nation, thus Makoto's line " hope it buys you some time" in hopes that Ei manages to return to Inazuma in time to save it
Ei being able to plant the seed 500 years, at first i thought they somehow traveled back in time which is possible but, i think they didn't travel back in time more like the consciousness domain travelled to the future. It's rather confusing but hear me out, by traveling to the future I mean the consciousness stopped updating itself the moment Makoto died which means the domain is kinda stuck in before 500 years while also existing today
But this doesn't mean if they leave they'd be in the Inazuma of the past because I think this weird phenomenon on occurs within the domains's real world area of effect which is rather small even if it appears to be infinite (just a little around the gateway or in the mountains radius)

a superposition state, because when makoto die, the observer for the domain is not exist anymore, a quantum phenomenon when not observed can superpose in time and space. We also know that mihoyo is quite knowledgeable about quantum physic and some advance math like imaginary number, riemannian manifold,...If that the case, we can conclude that domain is a quantum entity, a closed space-time system that isolated from the world with weird physic property like imaginary space in honkai. Imaginary space from honkai is a parallel backup space for god-like being like herrscher, husk nihilius, husk monster that exist and follow the space-time structure of a riemannian manifold can be bend at will but it not connect to the time flow of the outside world if not connect to. It can not be enter if not have a permission, only with "void" power can force a way through by using some higher dimension coordinate system to locate the "out universe" location of the region itself. So tl;dr its quite similar and follow the same rule for all universes in hoyoverse.

I know that seems weird because wouldn't that make two Vera's? Maybe? Maybe once time catches up it erases the Vera with the virus but the current one keeps going like time is a big loop or there are seperate timelines.
The other is I think the first Ei quest was important as it showed her the world is changing regardless of how the Shogun tries to prevent it and how her inaction was causing serious diplomatic issues. Otherwise the growth in the second quest would feel too forced and the fact she was just wandering around make even less sense.

In my reading, Ei's first character quest is more than just things changing despite her push for eternity.
Firstly in that quest, she remarks that things change but some things remain the same. This is after her duel with the Clan's heir.
Recall that, in the Archon quest, what specifically caused Ei to yield was not the Traveler's strength, but rather the wills of the visions residing in the statue.
Thus, she was remarking that while Inazuma had changed, the will of the previously honorable Kujou clan remained in that heir.
This all coalesced into Ei completely understanding Makoto's views and Makoto's own speech "Eternity extends time into infinity, dreams illuminate each moment within."

Hey! Just wanted to add about the future affecting the past thing. The magic that I find about the explanation Ashikai presents for the whole "time travel" situation is that you're kinda not affecting time itself, or like an event. You're actually adding something, and letting time itself find its way to fix it.
The thing that differs the most between our normal understanding of the possibility for time travel in our universe against Teyvat's, it's that ours doesn't appear to have the level of "consciousness" of this one, where if you break something here, it's broken forever. In Teyvat time appears that it can fix or heal on its own, preventing any kind of paradox.
This makes sense also with Vera's situation because you can do something to help something in the past, but you cannot expect it to fix the thing that is happening in the present.

A little pick at the latter point. While I do definitely like that that the main take away from Raiden's first quest was how stopping the progression of change is futile, I'm still not a fan of the execution tbh. I wish there was more of an interaction between veterans and/or displaced peoples. That way, when the realities of the war finally hit Ei, she'd realize that in her pursuit of a static eternity, she inadvertently caused her country to not only suffer but to desire change. And by the end of the quest, she'd take these thoughts into consideration moving forward and que the second quest.

Having played the quests back to back, I can say that Ei's first quest reads as good character building for the second quest and her decision to drop the sakoku decree. It's about Ei's characterization, and her character growth which we then see realized in her second quest.

From my understanding the thing about 500 years passing in the domain while only a bit of time did in the present is not because of Ei from what Yae says. The reason is the forced entry of the traveler who essentially linked the present with the moment he desired to reach, the moment of Ei winning. The domain exists in another point of space and by breaking that barrier around it the traveler fast forwarded the domain to the desired point and linked the present with the domain 500 years in the future. Had the traveler not forcibly entered the domain, Ei would come back victorious in the real world after 500 years.

This implies that, yes, time and being come together to form the Earth, which could mean leylines, at least in part. A theory for the function of the Gnosis
For a while I’ve been wondering what the point of the Gnosis are.
What if Gnosis allow you to perceive the changes in the world’s memory?
    Think about it.
If archons are essentially beings that perceive the memories of the world in its original and correct order, then how is that possible? The gods of Teyvat were no different from the archons, yet somehow the archons can perceive time differently.
And then there’s the sacred sakura.
Ei said that the tree wasn’t there before, but people had said it’s been there forever. This happened after the Cataclysm where Makoto died, which would be when Ei would gain the Gnosis, which would allow Ei to know that the sacred sakura wasn’t there before.
I wonder if the god of time had anything to do with the creation of such an object. After all, it would make sense that the one that rules over the domain of time would be the only one capable of assisting in the creation of such an object.

When Tsuyuko says "Enkanomiya is exceedingly dangerous right now. Only pre-eminent warriors like (Traveler) and Paimon should venture there."
Paimon responds with "Yep, absolutely, a hundred percent. This is a job only we can handle"
We as the Traveler have the dialogue option saying "...Tsuyuko, you really get Paimon"
    To which Tsuyuko responds with
"Hehe. We've worked together plenty of times in the past, after all."
This could be in reference to the first Watasumi quest we do "The Moon - Bathed Deep" that gives us the "Heart of Watasumi" that allows us to open up Enkanomiya. To my recollection that's essentially the only time we do a quest with Tsuyuko...
So why say "plenty of times in the past" unless there's a possible link to Paimon and the older era of Watasumi / Enkanomiya ahhhhhhh
Tsuyuko only references towards Paimon after what the Traveler said and not "We've all worked together plenty of time in the past"
It's possible I'm reading too much into this... BUT Arggggg MHY (now HoYoVerse) have a thing for dropping stuff in like sly little foxes. I have this way out there theory that looks more and more promising with every update.
Everything that's been going on with Teyvat and Celestia's actions is for them to buy some time.
It's known that Genshin is another leaf in the imaginary tree. Meaning, it's another universe that's part of the imaginary tree (miHoyo's multiverse).
So I think that what Celesia's doing is buying time for them, to figure out what to do when the Will of the Imaginary Tree (aka the Will of the Honkai) eventually comes. And that their wiping of civilization is a preventive measure. As the will of the honkai is attracted to human progress. They know that the more a civilization progresses. The more attractive they look to the will of the honkai.
So the thing about project ark being a thing is somewhat plausible in a way now. But it's not siblings at all. It's Celestia. Celestia is project ark/the ark's crew or some if it's survivors. They know what happened to their civilization and will stop at nothing for it to never happen in this world. No matter the cost of how cruel and inhumane their actions are.

    • @LeaksHater
      @LeaksHater 2 роки тому +37

To me, Phanes sounds like a way more likely candidate to be the Project ARK. The ark was searching for a suitable planet for humans and it found Teyvat. But it had the dragons on it, so they had to be wiped out first. Phanes was born from an "egg", but the "egg" could have been a spaceship from which Phanes arrived at Teyvat. When then the dragons were finally defeated, it started the genome library and started "printing out" humans onto the world. But then Celestia came and defeated Phanes, leading to the Flamechasers not getting any answers from project ARK back on Earth.
Also, we may finally get confirmation that Honkai and Genshin are truly related very soon. Honkai will soon be revealing the remaining flamechasers and one of them is particularly interesting: The painter. A painter would be very suitable for someone named after a god of creation (Phanes). Also, there is a line where the traveler calls Venti's eyes color resembling the sky in their world, and the painter's room sky color is same. This could maybe mean that the traveler and the sibling are the shades perhaps, but who knows.
Atm Celestia isn't really explained though. They don't really look like sky people either.

One other recently relevant thing Teyvat's mechanics bring to my mind is Stigma Spaces in Honkai. So far, we've visited two of them - first Sakura Samsara, and now the one in Chapter 28. In both cases, memories seem to form the building blocks of perceivable reality. When we first arrive in Sakura Samsara, it's stuck repeating the tragic events of the past as it happened, but by interacting with the "ghosts", or "memories", within it, we're able to break the loop and give it a happy (um... okay, bittersweet, it's Honkai after all) ending.
In Chp.28, we learn that the whole Stigma Space environment and everyone within it are constructs of conscious observers' memories. And there is some sort of erosion-reminiscent mechanic (that white fog thing) which causes observers within the space to lose their memories, and with it, "wear out" their consciousness-avatars.
I don't think Teyvat is one big Stigma Space (it would be a disappointingly simple explanation if true) but it does feel like whatever the First Throne's did to "terraform" the planet for human habitation might be based on similar technology as was used to carve out those stable artificial Stigma Spaces in the midst of the chaotically abstract Imaginary Space.
The fact that some kind of terraforming occurred is also very interesting. Perhaps the universe in which this planet exists is governed by rules of physics so alien to humans that they wouldn't be able to survive here had the "original god" not created the Human Realm, which somehow provides a framework within which things other than vishaps can function?

This is probably my own interpretation and headcanon. But, I believed that while Ei fought with the puppet time has passed 500 years, however, the time in the plain of conciousness was moving backwards to the past and reached the point where Ei of the past saved Makoto's conciousness. Hence why the Sacred Sakura appeared out of the blue exactly 500 years right after Makoto's death. If you looked at the traveller's dialogue stated about the time inside the plain of conciousness was moving both forwards and backwards at the same time, this would confirm the theory perfectly.

When I was playing 2.5 update and learned about the time-traveling tree, my reaction was "Why didn't I see this coming? If Genshin is just an alternate world in Hoyoverse to Honkai's world, then time travel seems the most plausible in Inazuma, considering that we meet Yae Sakura in a different time a memory of a time long past". Yep, so then timetravel seemed like "Yep, that should be obvious, why I didn't see it coming?" Especially considering that one of the NPC's in the Temple of Sacret Sakura - Maki, was foreshadowing the whole quest all this fucking time.

  • @Pyoron
    @Pyoron 2 роки тому +73

I really cannot see the first quest as a date, it's just you showing Raiden Ei how Inazuma has changed in all these years, the people, the food, the technology (Kamera cough cough), it's all in a pretty intuitive way for someone who stayed locked away for so many years, letting her experience these changes is the best way to drive the point across, but since reddit and twitter had some weird hatred for her (which wouldn't exist were she another pretty guy, mind you) it is what it is.
The second quest is a perfect wrap-up for Inazuma, by helping their archon understand her sister's ideals, she can now move on and grant her people the Eternity they so wanted - an eternity in transience, not in stasis.

Now for my real comment. The reason why you feel Ei's seed plant feels wrong compared to Otto's new branch is because of the Heavenly Principles. What Makoto's seed was is a Madela Effect and not a timeline hack.

This quest was amazing through and through! And I love the theories presented!!!
Also, I might be in the minority for this but despite the act 1 of her quest falling flat in a few areas, I do believe it is important since it showed the Archon stepping out of her shell for the first time in a while to see the changes Inazuma went through over the past 500 years, regardless of her plans to keep it in stasis. Having that realization in Act 1 made the transition in Act 2 well-paced and established imo. I
Otherwise it would’ve been weird and rushed for her to just give her backstory and fighting rifthounds right off the bat.
Now that does not excuse the flaws in Act 1. But I do believe it had a good purpose for existing in that aspect. Regardless, great video as always! As for the leylines, it’s interesting that some ecological disasters are the result of some Leyline disorder (Tsurumi Island, Dragonspine, etc), and in those cases it’s a result of Celestia dropping objects…
Let’s hope Chasm in 2.6 will expand upon more ancient lore (given its similarities in ecological disaster to Dragonspine and Tsurumi Island).

Right now, the way I see everything structured is:
The Imaginary Tree created this ?Universe? where Teyvat is located, and when doing so, it created parallel mechanics like the "Abstract Space" as Miko calls it, which is similar to the Imaginary Space in Honkai, time is also meaningless in the IMG Space and people can easily get lost in it, as shown in the very conveniently released chapter 28 in Honkai.
The world tree of Teyvat is the parallel of the Imaginary Tree.
What caught me off guard was Miko just... being able to easily access the Abstract Space and throw us in there.
And yeah, when Ei planted that tree in the past it kinda overwrote what possibly really happened had it not been planted, which still aligns with Imaginary Tree mechanics. Makes me wonder what happened in the "timeline/branch" that got overwritten, did Makoto know?
And yeah, in this case the god of time played a huge part in this, in Honkai, Otto had to spend his whole life to nearly become a God himself to do this, and for that, become a pawn of the IMG Tree and betray everyone he loved, becoming the villain.
I don't think we'll see direct time travel in Genshin, as based on the Imaginary Tree, there can not be 2 of the same person in a timeline. As shown by Otto disintegrating when he entered the past at the end of Ch28. (Edit yes, Shamash played a part in him dying, because he unleashed its full power)
Ok I was also kinda thinking out loud typing this, came out longer than intended lol.
    I can't wait for what's next.
TLDR; World mechanics in Genshin are not the same as Honkai, they are just a parallel. However, still possibly connected, but likely irrelevant for Genshin's story, at least for now.

Could be, but also I think gameplay-wise it's just a way to have Enkanomiya stuff available, especially since there were Whitenight-Evernight puzzles, separate chests and enemies, quests that make no sense in the new event, and the twin vishaps needed to level up 2 characters in the game. I think it's cause a lot of these things overlap and a player might need access to the original Enkanomiya stuff, and the event lasts 40 days, so they had to make a separate map for that, but then Genshin does blur the line between gameplay mechanics and lore, so it's not entirely impossible.

I couldn’t wait to see your takes on this. Happy you got the video out so fast.:)
I think it’s best to consider that realm just outside of the timeline so you enter and exit at any point you want to.
I think an important point was that it was stated that Ei disappeared during the Kanriah conflict. We don’t know where she was but it feels like it was implied she was in this realm during this event which is possible since it exists outside the timeline.
Another point I thought was interesting was that during Miko’s seance they dropped the passing comment that the traveler is a reincarnated version of them-self in this world. It could explain a lot which you touch on with Ventis implying they’ve met - Zhongli also implies he knows the traveler and won’t answer questions about the sibling bc he has his own reasons.
Oh and these exchanges between between Paimon and traveler are really building the groundwork/foreshadowing laid out in the Sango pet case where it seems very likely Paimon feels betrayed by the traveler for some reason and they breakup. It could explain how she becomes the Unknown God in the future. Now with the potential of the twins being reincarnations and dynamic timelines a lot of this is way more plausible. It also makes it more plausible if the twins are the god of time - which I mentioned to you in a comment months ago (incase you don’t remember).

I disagree with the idea that Ei doesn’t have a realm of consciousness, it seems pretty clear that euthymia is her realm. My interpretation was that Ei’s memory didn’t change because she was the one who planted the seed. Alternatively, maybe all “gods” have that power, such as havria and guoba (pre-shrinking). Presumably Ei only asked humans and yokai about the tree, since inazuma isn’t known to have other gods besides Orobashi and maybe the thunder birb. The Kaenriah is outside time thing is still possible, but I don’t think the tree memory in particular supports it.

I personally think Ei did become an Archon after Makoto's death. I'm not 100% but 70-80% sure it was said that she inherited the gnosis after Makoto died. I don't think a gnosis can be inherited like a trinket or something as it stays within the Archon's chest. So I for one believe she became an Archon after she inherited the gnosis. The gnosis which helps the Archons resonate with Celestia. Which brings me to a long term theory. Maybe the connection to Celestia is what lets the Archons have the realm of consciousness. I know that doesn't properly explain how Makoto's realm is still present. But that might be because instead of creating her own realm of consciousness with her newfound connection to Celestia, Ei decided to instead preserve her sisters. Which also explains why the plane of euthymia works differently. Its something she created herself.
Also, this connection to Celestia might be the reason the Archon's seem to remember all the memories, both the unchanged and changed pasts. And maybe the Tsaritsa is severing this connection by stealing all the gnosis because she yearns to do something to the timeline as well. But she is afraid the other Archons may try to stop her if they realize that time is being played with. Bold prediction, she changes something. The only person left with the memories of the unchanged past is the traveler. Then we have to employ the help of the Archons of the changed future to defeat the Tsaritsa and change things back.

There's many implementations of time travel and time manipulation in lots of science fiction; it can be quantified in many different ways
Genshin's version seems to be the self fulfilling prophetic type of time travel (events of the past are only possible with input from the future) while Honkai's version deals with split timelines (whether or not the two timelines can coexist or one gets deleted while the other stays varies on the story).
It's cool how hoyoverse has dabbled with time travel in different ways; as a time travel geek, I love it

Something that I wanted to mention was that in Yae Miko's Story quest The spirits/youkai cover the moon causing a moonless night, I can't help but feel that it's odd that the spirits from the leylines as mentioned in the quest are covering the "Moon" and the ritual is performed, and within the lines of the ritual is something along "In reverence I perform this rite, to be a guiding light" which is also kinds descriptive of the seelies and their duty. Doesn't have much relevance to the video itself but I just wanted to point this out cause it stood out to me in conjunction with the theory that the moon sisters are the 3 Shades and are also thought of in conjunction with time and that they uphold the laws of the heavenly principles and punish those who go against it. i.e Sustainer of heavenly principles. Just Food for thought and doesn't hold much value but I'm just putting this out there for someone smarter than me to make sense of this. :P
